i don't have a lot of thoughts on female chris bean yet which is surprising given how much i love to girlify my faves and the fact she's theoretically canon in some productions but i HAVE decided that she's convinced herself that she would've been better off as a man because then she could've been the son her father always wanted and her mother wouldn't resent her so much. meanwhile male!chris is convinced he'd be better off as a girl because then maybe his more feminine traits wouldn't be so offensive to his parents and they wouldn't resent him so much for them, but the thing is that they're both wrong, because there's no timeline where they possibly could've lived up to raymond and cecilia's expectations. their temperament and neurodivergency and queerness had doomed them from the start and they don't even realize it!
