Unfortunately for Luciferâs self restraint, one of Eden Adamâs favorite games was play-tackling/wrestling
Despite his angelic strength he winds up underneath Adam quite a few times (which Iâm sure wasnât an intentional choice at all /s)
And despite the fact that Adam KNOWS Lucifer is an almost all powerful being for some reason heâs always surprised when Lucifer ends up on top of him, pinning him to the floor
ANON THIS IS LITERALLY JUST MY EDEN ADAMSAPPLE COMIC LMAOOOOOOO
AUUGGHHB I love Eden Adam being a little mischievously playful!! He's innocent, but he's still kind of a shit (endearingly) so he'd play pranks and annoy people on purpose LOL
HEHEHE, of course Lucifer could overpower him easily, but he lets him "beat him" most of the time because it just makes his blood rush and his heart pump HEHEEHEE

There are several things that Gabriel knows for certain: sugar-free was no way to live if you didnât have a medical problem, he looked fabulous in every color, and Sam Winchester â second born of John and Mary Winchester â was his true vessel. Â True, Gabriel enjoyed this vessel--five feet eight inches of golden haired and golden-eyed, sugar-fueled sex god and Trickster-- but he could feel the tugging thrum of Samâs being reverberate around him, calling out to him.
Fate had dealt an odd turn.  Sam should have been Luciferâs vessel, but Azazel had chosen the youngest one, Adam, to curse with demon blood.  Maybe he saw something darker in the half-Winchester.  All Gabriel saw was a cosmic joke⊠the kid with the name of the first human created is his big brotherâs human-hating vessel?  Classic.
And because Azazel hadnât chosen Sam, Mary had survived. Â For a few months, at least. Â One vampire, hidden under the stairs surrounded by his nestâs drained victims, evaded death at Mary and another hunter, Jimâs, hands. Â And a week after their hunt ended, he showed up on Maryâs doorstep. Â They made quite a racket as they tumbled together at the entryway â John stumbling towards the sounds and trying to pull the crazed man off Mary as Dean began to shout âMommy!â from the stairs.
âGO TO SAMâS ROOM AND LOCK YOURSELF IN!â Â John snapped the order to his four-year-old, and he used every military advantage to pull the man from his wife. Â Once he heard the manâs arm snap, the assailant turned to look at John, mouth stained red and dripping with blood. Â But what made John stare were the razor sharp, pointed teeth. Â Mary held a hand to her throat, pointing towards the umbrella holder. Â John scrambled for it while pinning the man down, but Mary had dragged herself the few feet to it and pulled out a machete. Â She shoved at Johnâs shoulder then brought the knife down, embedding the end into their floor and decapitating the man that John was kneeling over. Â
âJesus, Mary. Â Honey, are you all right?â
âHospital,â she murmured, clutching to his sleeve as he rose, holding her against him. Â âGet the boys. Â Iâll start the Impala.â Â John nods before shrugging off his robe and wrapping it around her.
âKeep the pressure on it,â Â He orders sternly before taking the stairs two at a time to his sons. Â He knocks softly, not wanting to startle his son anymore. Â âDean, buddy, let me in.â Â
Obediently Dean opens the door a crack before stepping back into the room to allow his father entrance. Â Samâs little wheeled crib is pressed against the wall by the closet, and Deanâs tiny blue plastic chair is seated in front of it like a guard. Â
âGood job, Dean. Â Weâre gonna go for a drive, okay? Â Go get your shoes.â Â
He got Sam wrapped in a thick blanket and grabbed a few diapers and wipes before helping Dean into his shoes and leading them downstairs. Â He kept Dean on his right so he wouldnât see the body still lying in their doorway.
He loaded the kids in the car carefully before speeding to the hospital.
It was that night that John discovered the dangerous side of the world. Â It was that night, he lost his wife due to severe blood loss from her neck and arm. Â It was that night that changed the Winchesters forever.
One choice on Azazelâs part had completely changed everything. Â Because he hadnât made a deal with Mary, since John hadnât died, he had no access to Sam. Â So, he had decided to wait. Â They all knew there would be three boys with Winchester blood. Â And theyâre immortal beings, so what is another ten years of waiting?
He'd seen the Winchesters before, well âseenâ in his head â in Heaven before he ditched the boxing ring his brothers had made it into, seen that it all led up to John and Mary, Dean and Sam. Â And Kate and Adam Milligan, of course.
If Adam hadnât been born with a slight heart defect, his mom wouldnât have made the deal. Â Keep her soul and save her son, all she had to do was let him in in ten yearsâ time. Â The next morning, Adam was cleared from the NICU and went home with a healthy heart.
Decisions. Â Decisions. Â Thatâs what it really boiled all down to, Gabriel supposed. Â Dad had given the world free will.
And as usual, it had come to bite Gabriel in the ass.
First off, the professor deserved it. Â Ask anyone who has ever played Clue or failed a class.
The frat boy got his just desserts simply for the fact that Gabriel didnât like bullies. Â And he was already on campus, so why not spread the love?
The scientist who was testing on animals â innocent animals! â got his comeuppance by sewer alligator, which Gabriel still chuckled over to this day.
It really was just a bonus that Sam and Dean had been at each otherâs throats those few days. Â Part of him found it entertaining. Â Truthfully, it made most of him prickle with anger. Â It brought back too much of the beginning of the end for him. Â In the first few fights his brothers had picked, in the first barbed words. Â He hated himself because he knew far too well how this could snowball out of control.
At first, his screwing with the Winchesters was just because he could â a way to pass the time before the big bang. Â Partly because they wanted to stop his games. Â Mostly because they naĂŻvely thought they could stop destiny. Â Could deny the roles theyâd been assigned.
Which had led to this, uh, conundrum, he was currently in.
âIt all comes down to you and me, Sammy,â Â Gabriel snarked, arms wide open in the circle of holy oil the Winchesters had him trapped in.
âItâs Sam. Â And no, it doesnât. Â Iâm not saying yes to you â Iâll never say yes to you, Gabriel.â
âOh, Sammich, youâll say yes. Â Desperation. Â That noble righteousness you and your brother are so big on. Â Maybe you just wanna experience a nice white sand beach before Armageddon.â Â He gets no reaction from either brother, or his own. Â âPersonally, I say we light this candle!â Â Gabriel huffs a laugh, grinning at the three men in front of him. Â âMichael is gonna do whatever he can to get big bro to say yes. Â Oh, and Lucifer is going to con and manipulate his way into the little half a Winchester. Â There ainât no stopping this show, boys.â
âThen why do we need you exactly? Â Youâre just a runaway with daddy issues,â Â Dean snapped.
Gabriel pointed to himself. Â âPot.â Â Then he pointed to Dean. Â âKettle.â Â
Dean just clenched and unclenched his jaw. Â
âListen here buckos, there is no stopping this. Â Iâm sorry â I really am. Â But you arenât going to find Daddy,â Gabriel spared a bored look to his little brother. Â âAnd you canât stop this. Â Lucifer is gonna ride Adamâs ass either way. Â Heâll face Michael. Â And then, well then only one of them will walk away from this winner-takes-all showdown.â
âHeaven or Hell, which side you on?â Â Deanâs tense voice is more accusatory than questioning.
âIâm not on either side.â
âYeah right. Â Youâre grabbing ankle for Michael or Lucifer, which one is it?â Â
Gabriel clenches his fist briefly, too quickly for the Winchesters to catch. Â âYou listen to me, you arrogant dick. I don't work for either of those SOBs. Believe me.â
âHmm. Â Well youâre somebodyâs bitch.â Â
Gabrielâs lip raises in a snarl at Deanâs words.
âShut your cake-hole. Â You don't know anything about my family. Â I loved my father, and my brothers. Â Loved them! Â But watching them turn on each other? Â Tear at each other's throats? Â I couldn't bear it! Â Okay? Â So I left. Â And now it's happening all over again. Â I just want it to be over! Â I have to sit back and watch my brothers kill each other, thanks to you! Â Heaven, Hell, I don't fucking care who wins!â Â He can hear the tiredness in his own voice at the last line, he feels it trickle down his entire being and drain the well-placed mask heâs worn for so long.
And itâs the Dadâs honest truth â heâs tired. Â Of hiding, of lying, of waiting. Â The Winchesters twenty some-odd years is nothing compared to the millennia heâs logged, aching for home and for his family. Â For something that he can never return to. Â For something he knows he can never return to.
âHelp us then. Â You can help us stop this.â Â He looks at Sam, takes in his words, and grimaces. Â Thereâs a spark of hope in those hazel eyes and so much determination to stop this. Â Theyâve convinced Adam not to say yes â for now. Â Gabriel sighs, he knows the outcome. Â Heâs known all along.
âItâs destiny.  I'm sorry.  But it is.â  His voice is softer now, sadder.  âGuys. I wish this were a TV show. Easy answers, endings wrapped up in a bow. But this is real. And it's gonna end bloody for all of us. That's just how it's gotta be.â  And then Gabriel watched his true vessel, Dean and baby brother Castiel walk away. âUh... okay. Hey, guys? So, so what? Huh? You're just gonna, you're gonna leave me here forever?â  Dean paused at the door, leveling Gabriel with a harsh stare.
âNo. Â We're not. Â Because we don't *screw* with people the way you do. Â And for the record? Â This isn't about some prize fight between your brothers, or some destiny that can't be stopped. Â This is about you bein' too afraid to stand up to your family!â Â
Gabriel glared at the eldest Winchester, watched as he pulled the fire extinguisher system and the flames slowly died all around him. Â
âDon't say I never did anything for you!â
A handful of months later he feels that tingle, the one that spreads terror into his gut. Â Shit.
Adam had joined Team Winchester simply to try to buy himself some time from being the Devilâs new clothes. Â But it was Samâs disjointed thoughts Gabriel heard echoing in his head that concerned him.
âThis is the nicest place we have EVER stayed at.â
Gabriel locked onto his location fairly quickly.
âHit the road. Â Fucking biblical type storm. Â Pie. Â Nowhere. Â Norman Bates. Â Elephant.â Â
Fuck. Â Gabriel could sense the gathering, all those gods. Â Kali had told him they were meeting, but now he had to go to pull Samâs ass outta the fire. Â Lucifer wouldnât harm his brotherâs vessel or his own â he needed them. Â But he didnât need Sam. Â There was a chance he would just use Sam to get Dean to say yes, and he couldnât have that either.
âRats in a maze.â
Gabriel hated not having options. Â Backing an archangel into a corner was not wise.
Plus, where here the hell was Cas? Â Gabriel pops into Muncie, Indiana using his Grace to keep him from prying eyes.
âPlease be tomato soup. Please be tomato soup.â Â All three brothers scoff before Sam heads to the freezer door. Â âMotel hell.â
âHelp us! Â Get us out!â
âHurry up!â Adam shouts, moving forward with Dean help Sam.
âIâm going as fast as I ââ
âThereâs somebody behind me, isnât there?â Â And with that, they are all unceremoniously dragged into the Grand Ballroom.
âWe are so boned,â Adam sighs before one of the men shoves him down into a seat.
âGods?â Â Sam repeats as the dark haired man begins to go over the ground rules. Â âOh, we are so, so screwed.â
As the gods argue, Dean looks surprised while Adam is pretty much broadcasting that this is pretty par for the fucking course. Â Samâs mind is trying to recall as much lore as possible as they argue before looking to his brothers and rising slowly from their seats, the chandelier crashing suddenly to block their escape.
âStay.â Â Kali orders, glaring at the brothers before looking at the gods seated around her. Â âThe archangels â the only thing they understand is violence.â
Well, for the most part sheâs not wrong. Â Damnit, now he was gonna have to step in.
He uses his Grace to throw open the doors of the ballroom before waltzing in.
âCanât we all just get along?â
âGab ââ Â He quickly silences all three Winchesters, smirking mask set firmly in place.
âItâs always wrong place, worst time for you muttonheads.â Â Stepping between Sam and Dean.
âLoki.â Â Baldur states with calm annoyance.
âBaldur. Â Good seeing you, too. Â I guess my invitation got lost in the mail.â
âWhyâre you here?â Â He asks, standing.
âIâm here to talk about the elephant in the room.â Â Ganesh starts to rise. Â âNot you. Â The Apocalypse. Â We canât stop it, gang. Â But first things first.â Â Turning around to face the three men, he meets Samâs gaze briefly. Â âThe adults need to have a little conversation. Â Check you later.â Â And snaps them back to their room.
âGabriel!  Next time I tell Dean to keep drivingâŠ!  Shit.  This is so screwed.  So, deeply, uber, armageddon screwed.  Gabriel!  Get your feathered ass here now!â  The thoughts which are normally articulate, nerdy, or planning are disjointed as Sam is conversing with his brothers.  So much so that Gabriel is having trouble hearing this thoughts, talking the gods down and trying to overhear their actual verbal conversation now that all three of their brains are lighting up with adrenaline and keep shouting his name.
âGank a few freaks along the way if weâre lucky.â  Seating himself comfortably on the couch behind Dean â Mercury really outdid himself cushion-wise, he made a mental note to mention that to him.  If they all lived long enough, that is⊠Noting the youngest Winchesterâs seated position on the bed â is that as comfortable as this couch? â his blonde head in his hands.
âAnd when are you ever lucky?â Â Dean turns to face Gabriel while Adam simply lifts his head from his hands.
âOh, you know what? Â Bite me, Gabriel.â
âMaybe later, big boy.â Â And he shoots a wink at Sam, who just clenches his jaw.
âI should have known ââ Â Dean begins, gesturing towards the room.
âMaybe you guys could stop for two minutes?â Â Adam snaps, looking from Dean to Gabriel.
âHey, look, it has a backbone! Â More Winchester in you now than wimp, huh?â Â Standing from the couch, heâd definitely would need to pop one of those into his hideout, Gabriel sighed at the situation. Â âListen here, Iâm the Costner to your Houston. Â Iâm here to save your ass.â
âYou want to pull us out of the fire?â Â Adam asks, bracing his hands on his knees.
âBingo!â Â Gabriel smiles triumphantly before glancing at Sam once more, whose thoughts have just turned from what is going on to what is he up to and how is this supposed to help? Â âThose gods are either gonna dust you â which the God Squad wonât tolerate â or use you as bait.â Â Gabriel curls his middle and ring fingers down, gesturing to the boys. Â âEither way, youâre uber-boned.â
âWow â âcause a couple months ago you were telling us that we need to play our roles.â Â Dean shifted from one foot to the other, planting himself more firmly between Gabriel and Sam. Â Maybe it was unconscious, maybe it was just that Dean always had to protect Sam. Â All Gabriel knew is it was pointless.
âMichael and Lucifer are gonna dance the Lambada. Â But not tonight. Â Not here.â
âAnd why do you care?â Â Deanâs question surprises Gabriel. Â He shouldnât care. Â Really his only concern should be getting Sam to say yes or hiding away on a private island surrounded by women of all shapes and sizes in skimpy bathing suits. Â Not here. Â Certainly not trying to save his little broken adoptive family.
âI donât care.â  They all look unconvinced.  âBut, me and Kali, we, uhâŠhad a thing.  Chick was all hands.â  No one was going to appreciate that pun.  All hands?  Come on!  âWhat can I say?  Iâm sentimental.â
âSam, you gotta listen to me. Â Convince Dean to leave. Â Lucifer WILL turn them into fingerpaint. Â You know Iâm not lying to you, Sammich.â
âDo they have a chance? Â Against Satan?â Â Sam steps forwards, towering over his current vessel.
âReally, Sam?â Â Dean sneers.
âYou got a better idea, Dean? I mean, itâs worth a shot, right?â Â Adam shifted his gaze from Dean to Sam, landing on Gabriel.
âIt's a bad idea. Lucifer's gonna turn them into finger paint. So let's get going while the going's good, hmm?â
âO.K. Great, why don't you just zap us outta here then?â Â Dean rolls his eyes, exasperated.
âWould if I could, but Kali's got you by the short and curlies. It's a blood spell. You boys are on a leash.â
âWell thatâs just great. Â So glad we cleared that up,â Â Adam groans, letting himself fall back onto the bed.
âOkay, yeah. Well, whatever. Well, we're gonna take the hors d'oeuvres in the freezer with us.â
âForget it. It's gonna be hard enough sneaking you mooks outta here.â
âWe canât just leave them,â Â Adam interjects as Sam glares at Gabriel.
âThey called you Loki, right? Which means they don't really know who you are?â Â Dean ventures and Gabriel doesnât care for the new direction this is heading in.
âTold you. I'm in witness protection.â
âO.K., well then how about you do what we say, or we tell the, uh, legion of doom about your secret identity. They don't seem like a real pro-angel kinda crowd.â Â
He takes a step closer to the eldest Winchester who now realizes he has Gabriel in a corner. Â âI'll take your voices away.â
âWe'll write it down.â Â
Another step closer, his golden eyes boring into the emerald ones. Â âI'll cut off your hands.â
âWell then, people are gonna be asking, "Why are you guys running around with no hands?"
âFine.â
Gabriel went to seduce the blood off of Kali (which didnât work well â ended up her collecting his blood too, Daddammit)âŠnow Gabriel, Archangel, Messenger of the Lord, Loki and the Trickster was bound to Kali by blood.  Funny, he hadnât seen that coming.  Maybe his charm was wearing off?  Nah, that couldnât be it. Kali has him march obediently back to the ballroom and not five minutes later the Winchester trio was tossed unceremoniously in as well.
âWell, surprise, surprise. Â The Trickster has tricked us.â
âKali, donât.â Â Gabriel warns. Â But he knew heâd be outed sooner or later. Â This just isnât how he pictured it really.
âYou're mine now. And you have something I want.â Â Her red painted nails press familiarly against his chest before sliding into this jacket, her hand wrapping firmly around his blade. âAn Archangel's blade. From the Archangel, Gabriel.â Â Sheâs waiting for an answer from him. Â Like he should soap opera gasp and fan himself like a real southern lady.
âOkay, okay! So, I got wings. Like Kotex.â Â He pauses a half second, his gaze meeting herâs. Â âBut that doesn't make me any less right about Lucifer.â Â And then Kali rammed the blade into his chest and white-gold light spilled from his eyes and mouth and Gabriel, last Archangel son of the Lord, slumped into his chair.
---
Sam felt a flicker of something as Gabriel died, but couldnât quiet place the moment as Adam shouted âNo!â beside him. Â Dean took a deep breath and rose, now out of angelic help to help kill Satan.
âAlright you primitive screwheads, listen up.â Â Dean began, wiping his hand over his mouth.
âAre you outta your mind?â Sam half-whispered, looking nervously at his big brother.
âYouâre surprised?â Â Adam sighs out, but his body is just as tense as Samâs.
âI'm outta options, Sammy. Now on any other given day, I'd be doing my damndest to, uh, kill you. You filthy murdering chimps.â
âOh good, insult the things that could kill us,â Adam mutters under his breath, but Sam catches it and really, he does have a point. Â But it was a hell of a situation they were in.
âBut, uh, hey, desperate times. So even though I'd love nothing better than to slit your throats, you dicks, I'm gonna help you. I'm going to help you ice the devil. And then we can all get back to ganking each other, like normal. You want Lucifer, well, dude's not in the Yellow Pages. But me, Sam and Adam, we can get him here.â
âHow?â Â Kali asks, looking from Dean who tossed back a generous gulp of whiskey to Gabrielâs body then back to Dean.
âFirst you let those main courses go. Then we talk. We can either take on the devil together, or you lame-ass bitches can eat me. Literally.â Â
Sam and Adam both huffed out an annoyed breath, but rose to stand beside Dean as Kali and Baldur share a look before nodding.
âFine.â Â Baldur agrees before he gives a wave of his hand to dismiss the other gods. Â âYouâll return here after youâve released the entrees.â Â
Sam clenches his jaw at the way Baldur refers to the people, but follows behind Dean as Adam stands nervously by his chair.
Sam picks the lock a lot faster now that he knows what to do and ushers the people from the freezer to Dean who is waiting in the lobby to herd them out. Â Once he finishes he joins Adam in the ballroom, waiting for Dean.
---
âCome on everybody! Let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go. Alright, alright, go, go, go! Get outta here!â Â Dean looks around a tad bit suspicious before he hears it again. Â Itâs coming from the Impala.
âPsst! Dean! Don't look at me! Act natural. Get in.â Â Dean rolls his eyes but opens the driverâs door and slides in. Â He turns to address the archangel in his backseat, looking him up and down.
âMan, there is nothing natural about this at all. I thought you were dead.â
âYou think I'd give Kali my real sword? That thing can kill me!â
âThen what do they have in there?â Â Gabriel grins at his own genius.
âA fake! Made it out of a can of diet orange Slice. So, uh, go snag our blood, would ya?â
âWhat?â Â Gabriel slides from behind Samâs seat closer to Dean, his tone a little louder.
âI heard you in there. Kali likes you. You can get close. Lift the plasma, then we vamoose.â Â Dean clears his throat at Gabrielâs plan.
âNo. Hand over the real blade. Better yet, why don't you sack up and help us take down Lucifer.â
âYou can't be serious?â Â Gabriel gaffs at him.
âDeadly.â Â Deanâs face is that perfected mask of seriousness his father had usually worn and he couldnât seem to shake now.
âSince when are you butt buddies with a bunch of monsters? That's all they are to you, aren't they?â Â His sarcasm was alive and well, glaring at the hunter.
âAlright, you know, Sam was right. It's nuts but it's the best idea I've heard, so unless you have a better one?â Dean raised his eyebrow slightly at the Norse god.
âWell, good luck with that.â Â Gabriel scoffs. âMe? I'm blowing Jonestown. Those lemmings wanna run off a cliff, that's their business.â
âI see right through you, you know that? The smart-ass shell, the whole âI could give a crapâ thing? Believe me, it takes one to know one.â
âThat so Dr. Phil?â Â Â Â
âYes. And maybe those freaks in there aren't your blood but they are your family.â
âThey just stabbed me in the friggin heart!â Â The archangel exclaimed, shifting away from Dean in the backseat.
âMaybe, but you still give a crap about 'em, don't you?â
âDean.â Â Itâs almost a plea rather than the admonishment Gabriel was going for.
âNow they're gonna die in there, without you.â
âI can't kill my brother.â Â Gabriel admits. Â He feels it deep down, thatâs a fight he doesnât want. Â His brother taught him, teased him, sided with him against Michael and Raphael. Â He canât kill Lucifer.
âCan't or won't?â Dean watches Gabrielâs golden eyes flitter down. Â âThat's what I thought.â Â And shoves the Impala door open and leaves Gabriel pondering his decisions.
---
âSo you're going to summon Lucifer.â Â Kali states rather than questions, raising a delicately arched black eyebrow.
âSort of. I just need you to squeegee some stuff from my ribs and he'll come running.â Â Adam answers, waving a pale hand in front of his chest. Â Sam smirks at his answer.
âBreaking them would be easier.â Â Kali replies, Adam and Samâs eyebrows shooting up before Samâs settled into his trademark bitchface. Â Dean swaggers into the room, and Sam knows it isnât good news by the set of his mouth.
âShow's over. Sword's a fake, and Gabriel, he's still kicking. I hate to break it to you, sister, but you've been tricked.â Â
Baldur clenches his jaw before looking down at Kali. Â The lights around the ballroom begin to flicker, the fear palpable as everyone knows what this heralds.
âItâs him.â Â Adam swallows hard, shifting to his left to get a tad farther from the doors.
âHow?â Â Kali snaps, annoyed.
âDoes it matter? Shazzam us outta here, would ya?â Â Dean tells more than asks, looking from Kali to Baldur.
âWe canât.â Â Baldur replies before the doors swing open to reveal Lucifer Morningstar.
âOf course you canât. Â You didn't say "mother, may I?" Sam, Dean, Adam, good to see you again.â Â Adam stares at Lucifer, his vessel is peeling and spotty, and now, covered in blood splatter thanks to the unseen carnage lying just beyond them in the hall. Â Baldur shifts, straightening his posture while glaring at the archangel.
âBaldur, don't.â Â Kali warns softly, but Baldur moves forward anyway, anger radiating from the Norseman.
âYou think you own the planet? What gives you the right?â Sam wants to yell to Baldur that he is too close, but before he can even form the complete thought, Luciferâs hand is sticking out of Baldurâs back, ripping him apart from the inside.
âNo one gives us the right, we take it.â Â Lucifer even gives his fingers a little wiggle before shoving him down and off his hand.
Kaliâs sharp features turn from concerned to enraged, flames licking from her hands up her arms. Â She throws her hands forward, sending the flames hurtling at Lucifer, Sam and Dean tossing Adam over the table for cover before jumping over themselves. They hear a few more loud thumps, flinching at the sounds before looking at each other.
âYou okay?â Â Sam asks, looking from Dean to Adam.
âNot really. Better late than never, huh?â Â Sam is startled by Gabriel appearing to his left besides Dean. Â He tosses a dvd box at Sam before clasping Dean on the shoulder. Â âGuard this, with your life.â Â Gabriel rises, Angel Blade grasped tightly in his hand as his big brother is blown backwards through the Grand Ballroomâs doors.
âLucy, Iâm home.â
Be careful, winged ass monkey. Sam prayed, swallowing the lump that formed in his throat as he looked to his brothers, who rose up carefully as Gabriel eased towards Kali, sprawled on the floor.
âNot this time.â Â Gabriel wrapped his free arm around her waist, hauling her upright and letting the Winchesters fall in line behind him. âGuys! Get her outta here.â Â He pushes her towards the door and gives one last look not at Kali, but at Sam.
Thatâs Mr. Arch winged ass monkey, Sammikins. Â Gabriel snarks back, turning to face his big brother.
âOver a girl. Gabriel, really? I mean I knew you were slumming, but I hope you didn't catch anything.â Â Is the last thing Sam hears as they make their way down the hall, carefully avoiding as much of the slaughter as they can in their haste to get to the Impala.
âI'm not getting in that thing.â Â Kaliâs voice is loud in the silence of the night, the only noises being made are their footfalls on the wet concrete and the squeak of the driver door as Dean pops it open.
âJust get in the car, princess.â Â His tone is commanding, and yeah â a bit arrogant for Kaliâs tastes, but they have to put miles between them and Lucifer and they all know it. Â Gabriel is buying them time and itâs too precious to waste. Â
Sam opens the door for Kali as Adam climbs into the back seat behind Dean. Â Babyâs motor starts and Dean scans the lobby and surrounding area one last time. Â Just before Sam slips inside the car, he pauses. Â He can hear Gabriel inside: âBecause Dad was right. They are better than us.â Â And then once heâs sitting in the front seat, shotgun, where he belongs â beside Dean â he hears a question, so softly he almost misses it.
Wonât you be my neighbor?
Itâs so corny, yet so vulnerable and Sam knows, just knows that Gabriel isnât going to walk away from this. Â His bag of tricks against Lucifer are limited and heâs just buying as much time as he can for him.
Yes. Â He prays back, before it feels like his whole body is a livewire â he feels like heâs moving too much, like heâs bouncing down a rough back road at high speeds and at the same time his whole bodyâs got a numbness to it, like full body novocain. Â Then Sam blinks and itâs over. Â What felt like at least a handful of minutes is in reality an outpouring of milliseconds. Â He doesnât feel different, not really. But something is off. Â Then he hears Gabrielâs voice, like heâs perched, armâs folded with his head propped on top of his wrists, on the back of the bench seat Samâs sitting on. Â Sam nearly turns to, then reminds himself that the car is silent. Â No one has said a word.
Itâs another fifty or so miles before Kali barks out an order to pull over. Â When Dean does, he grabs her wrist before she can disappear.
âBlood.â Â The four vials appear in her hand and she crushes them then flames burst from her palm, engulfing the shards and liquid. Â Then she simply disappears. Â And while they canât take a deep breath yet, they push on until day breaks and theyâre close to the state line. Â Dean asks for Samâs laptop and pops the dvd in that Gabriel had wanted them so badly to keep safe.
A red screen appears, scrolling credits while cheesy âporno musicâ plays in background.
âOh Jesus.â Â Adam mutters as the title appears. Â Casa Erotica 13. Â Dean wrinkles his forehead and looks at Sam, who just gives a small shrug. Â How the hell was he supposed to know what this was? Â Although, knowing what they knew about Gabriel, this wasnât anything they shouldnât have expected. Â He is, after all the guy who put them on a Japanese gameshow that hit Sam in the balls. Â Hard.
âDear Diary, being a high powered business president is super-fun. But sooo exhausting. Sometimes, I just need to relax. I need Casa Erotica.
âRoom Service!â
âCome in!â
âGabriel wanted us to guard this with our lives?â Â Sam asks, raising his eyebrows as the woman sits up on the bed.
âMaybe he's a fan. It is a good one.â
âReally, Dean?â Â Adam sighs before looking back to the screen. Â And as the door open, thereâs Gabriel, Â Messenger of the Lord, Archangel, and Trickster, wearing a fake mustache and a service waiterâs outfit, big silver tray held aloft in one hand.
âI've got the kielbasa you ordered.â
âOoh. Polish?â
âHungarian.â Gabriel tosses the dish onto the mantle, it clattering to the floor as he moves into the room. Â Adam looks at Sam, then Dean as they hear Gabriel and the woman kissing and giggling. Â All three Winchesters look disturbed and even Dean is rethinking the whole porn loving aspect of his life in this moment. Â Then the giggles turn to moan from both of them.
âWhat the hell's going on?â Â Sam tosses up a hand in exasperation, gesturing towards his laptop.
Right after he asks, Gabriel turns to the camera, removes his mustache and smiles.
âSam, Dean, Adam. You're probably wondering what the hell is going on.â Â Then thereâs laughter, light and just a dash of actual humor in it, rolling through his mind.
Gabe? Â Had he been just saying goodbye earlier in the car? Â Had Sam not said yes quick enough?
âWell, if you're watching this, I'm dead. Oh please! Stop sobbing, it's embarrassing for all of us.â Â
Dean looks at Sam and Sam knows itâs because Dean was hoping for a different outcome if Gabriel fought with them to stop Lucifer. Â Now they had no chance to ice the Devil. Â
âWithout me, you've got zero shot at killing Lucifer, sorry! But can trap him. The cage you sprung Lucifer from? It's still down there. And maybe, just maybe, you can shove his ass back in. Not that it'll be easy. You gotta get the cage open, trick my bro back into it. And uh, oh yeah, avoid Michael and the God Squad. But hey, details, right?â
Adam looks excited at this prospect. Â He doesnât want to be Satanâs vessel anymore than Dean wants to be Michaelâs. Â
âAnd here's the big secret, Lucifer himself doesn't even know -- the key to the cage? It's out there.â Â They all exchange a look. âActually it's keys, plural. Four keys, well, four rings. From the Horsemen.â
Well, fuck. Â
âYou get 'em all, you got the cage. Can't say I'm betting on you boys. But, uh, hey! I've been wrong before.â Â
They all take a deep breath. Â At least itâs a new plan â a new way to stop the end of the world. Â
âAnd Dean, you were right. I was afraid to stand up to my brother, not any more.â Â Gabriel rises, puffing his chest out a tad as that shitty smirk rolls across his features. Â âSo this is me, standing up.â Â Sam grimaces cause he can guess where this is going. Â âAnd this is, me, lying down.â Â Gabriel turns, lifting the woman with ease and tossing her onto the bed before leaping on top of her. Â Clothes begin to fly as they both moan in tandem and Sam slams his laptop closed.
Donât worry, Samsquash, you saved my feathery Kotex ass.
Holy shit. Â Does - does Lucifer think he killed you?
Uh yeah. Â I am the Trickster.
So, you gonna help now?
Not like I got anywhere else to go, Sammy.
âHorsemen, huh? Â Well we got Warâs. Â We nicked Famineâs. Â Thatâs two down. Â Collect all four?â Â Dean lays out, rapping his knuckles on the Impalaâs hood twice. Â âAll we need is Pestilence and Death.â
âOh, is that all?â Â The sarcasm is oozing from Adam as he runs a hand over his face.
âItâs a plan.â Â Dean assures him as Sam plucks his laptop from the roof, and climbs into the passenger seat.
Do you know where Pestilence is?
Find a dickwad demon and then follow that trail. Â Sorry â Gabriel yawns â Iâm a little outta juice. Â Weâll pick this up later, Sammich.
Angels donât sleep.
No, but I gotta recharge the batteries. Â Faking oneâs death, making a porno, and jumping aboard the good ship Samuel is a lot of work.
Fine.
Hey, Sam?
Yes, Gabriel?
You gonna tell your bros Iâm riding shotgun?
Not right now.
I know how you boys are with secrets, might as well rip this band aid off.
Arenât you supposed to be resting?
10-4 on that, Sammy. Â Lying to the bros. Â Gabriel out.
Sam rolled his eyes as they drove towards the nearest motel to rest and call Bobby with this new information, looking out the window. Â How was he supposed to tell Dean and Adam that Gabriel wasnât dead, but was now inside Sam? Â Something they had all sworn not to do? Â Sam rested his head against the window as greenery flew by and he was happy, at least for a moment. Â Gabriel wasnât the nicest angel, but he had come back and bought them time. Â Whether he liked it or not, Gabriel was now firmly Team Winchester and it was sort of nice, Sam thought, that they had Castiel and Gabriel to watch over them and help.
I always knew you were a softie.
Shut up, Gabriel.
Maybe Sam had thought that too soon.
