Hello! I haven't read a lot of X-men comics ( animated shows for me) but I'm intrigued about Charles and David's relationship. Could you tell me more about it?

Oh boy HDJDJDJSKS Hope you're ready for a rant, considering David is my little boy and I have many feelings about him and his relationship with Charles.

Well, Charles and David's relationship is non-existent, and when it exists it's painful and Charles is honestly the worst father in the world. What I know about David Haller comes mostly from the Son of X run and the newer run with him, Way of X, as well as a lot of hours reading his Wiki (god bless Marvel Wiki, I don't have the time to read all the comics), but all I'm certain about these two is that: 1) Charles was an awful father and 2) David still loved him either way and wanted to gain Charles' pride (I'm still crying about X-Men: Legacy, leave me alone). For comparison:

- Way of X #1 where Charles refused to revive David, his own son, for the greater good (and I get him, he's leading a nation, yadda yadda yadda, but that's his son)

VS

- X-Men: Legacy #1 (the Son of X run) when David learns Charles is dead and has a literal breakdown that causes him to kill people by accident when he loses control because his father just died.

Or:

- X-Men: Legacy (can't remember the issue or volume rn) where is shown that David is terrified of not making Charles proud of him, and the last issue where Ruth shows David a vision of Charles telling him that he's proud of David

VS

- Way of X #4 (I believe, someone correct me if I'm wrong) where Charles uses David's fear of being a disappoinment to him in order to try to sway David into doing what he wants David to do.

So anyway, I write David & Charles fics because I want my wee boy to have some happiness and a good father for ONCE. Thank you for coming to my ted talk, hopefully you understand a little more about the father & son angst going on here and why I curse comic Charles' name daily for hurting my son (I'm taking him away from Charles, he's my son now).
