【速報】JR西 山陽新幹線で“自動運転”めざすと発表 2030年代にも ボタンを押すと出発・停止(読売テレビ)
JR西日本は18日午後の会見で、山陽新幹線の一部区間について、2030年代にも、運転中の速度調整や停車などについて、自動運転を目指すと発表しました。
JR西日本によりますと、運転士が先頭車両に乗車した状態で、ボタンを押すと出発し、途中駅の通過・駅での停止を自動で行う「GoA2」レベルの自動化を目指すと明らかにしました。すでにJR東海などでは実用化に向けた試験などが進められていて、JR西日本でも2030年代の導入を目指すということです。
自動運転の導入が進めば、安全性の向上や運転の効率化だけでなく、走行中に乗務員がほかの業務に従事できるようになることも期待されています。
また、今月10日にはJR東日本が上越新幹線で、新幹線としては世界初となる「ドライバレス運転(運転士の乗務がない自動運転)」の導入を目指すことも発表。2029年度に新潟駅~新潟新幹線車両センター間(5.1km)の回送列車で実施をめざすなど、自動運転の導入に向けた動きが活発化しています。

JR西日本は山陽新幹線において、自動運転(GOA2)を2030年代に開始することを目指す。JR東海の技術協力を得ながら取り組む。
GOA2は、運転士が列車起動や緊急停止などの操作を行なうレベルの自動運転。運転士がボタンを押すことで出発し、リアルタイムに演算を行なうことで、所定時刻にて途中駅の通過並びに到着駅へ自動で停止する。
効果として、運転士の業務量を削減することで、駅発着時のホーム上の安全確認に注力できるなどの安全性向上を見込む。また、安定して電力消費量の少ない運転が可能となることで省エネ効果も期待できるとしている。
JR西日本では「中期経営計画2025アップデート」において、「鉄道事業の安全性向上・持続的進化」を掲げ、「ハード・ソフト両面の改良による輸送品質・生産性向上」に向けた取り組みを進めており、その一つとして自動運転技術の導入を検討する。
なお、JR東日本でも、新幹線の自動運転(GOA2)実現や「ドライバレス運転」(GOA4)導入を目指し、上越新幹線の地上設備・車両改造等の工事に着手することを発表している。
