I feel like I'm the only one who finds Kerri's shift to adult/smut in Throne really cringe. 😂 I also don't totally love how she's been promoting the book ngl. She keeps making comparisons between it and the KOTW series, how we'll like Envy so much more than Wrath and how he's her favorite. I'm mostly worried about the things she'll write for him and Emilia now that they aren't the protagonists tbh.

Tbf, I'm going in with an open mind, but yeah, I do see what you're saying. I'm not sure how well I'll dare with the elements and style of smut that seems to coming in Throne of the Fallen.... especially the dirty talk ajdjsjjangangb I'm sorry, I just always end up cringing at dirty talk, regardless of the book. 🤡

Definitely agree on the comparisons with KOTW part. Like, I get that the idea behind this way of promotion is to give people who are already reading the series a comparitive measure of spice and stuff, but I'd still prefer this book to be promoted for itself and not in comparison with the previous books of the series. And also, I'm a petty bitch sometimes and so those sometimes are when I wish kotw would have been as explicit as this is being promoted to be (ahem, knives and chains brought up and done nothing with? 😔)

And about the Wrath part...Kerri, ma'am, I'm sorry but nothing is going to make me put Wrath second. Anyone who has seen this blog knows that I would (literally) sell my soul for him, so....

I'm interested to see what she does with Envy, because there's potential there, but I highly doubt he's going to beat Wrath for me.

I'm actually not that worried about how Wrath and Emilia are going to be written as supportimg characters. I feel like with the way Kotf ended, it left a lot of political situations and plot strings for them to deal with, and I actually quite liked the way the other princes were written in KOTF, so I believe wrathemilia will be well and good in these next books as well. I really hope we get bonus chapters of them, though. 👀👀👀👀👀

here is my playlist for if Kingdom of the Wicked & Kingdom of the Cursed (and eventually Kingdom of the Feared) by Kerri Maniscalco was a fantasy romance tv drama, like TVD meets Bridgerton vibes or a movie. Songs 1-38* are KOTW, and the rest (so far) are KOTC. It's a big mix of genres such as alt/indie, folk, some blues, some rock, pop, some R&B, and Vitamin String Quartet covers lol.

Female Energy, Part 2 by WILLOW - also such a super popular song; just after-sacrifice vibez. This song was hard to place because Emilia's "finding truth" throughout both books, but KOTC has darker vibes than this song has. This song , with the whole "I am human, I am woman" theme and peaceful guitar strumming just fits more with the uncertainty of KOTW for me.

okay this is where the vibez in the playlist transition. Less of the indie folk pop-ish (there still will be), and more R&B, alt/indie-pop to reflect the sassy shift in hell. There is also a lot more of Vitamin String Quartet to reflect the classiness in Hell... like Bridgerton hehe.

What it means to be a girl by EMELINE - this song just gives me ANY house vibez but I think especially at Gluttony's party when Emilia's among all the boiz (except sloth? poor sloth. the disrespect) and it just reminds me of Emilia really trying her best to keep up with them and/or outsmart them (particularly, Pride at the moment)
