my favourite things about tumblr (i will edit this post everytime i think of a new one)

as of 1/8/24 (1st august because i am BRITISH), i have these:

the messages you get when there's an error. they are so much funnier than normal ones, and just make the whole situation less frustrating

the fact that posts from a literal decade ago will still sometimes show up on my dashboard/will be reblogged by people i know

the way everyone jokes about how its a hellsite held together by sheer determination, and yet it is loved by everyone who has it (as far as i know)

just how long it's managed to survive honestly

the fact that whenever i say something about tumblr irl people go "that's still around?!"

reblogging!!

also tags. i love tagging on tumblr. i love reading other people's tags. i love hiding things in the tags. it's beautiful (i hate doing tags on tiktok now)

honestly the lack of people that follow me. i like being able to post whatever tf i like. i don't have a reputation here

the fact i can just infodump and people will applaud me for it. it's great

the way everyone interacts/talks on tumblr. it's so different to anywhere else

the difference “for” and “to” in “everything for everyone” and “everything to everyone” is killing me (/pos) because omds

trying to please everyone is literally impossible, and the use of “for” is showing how yr doing so much but getting nothing back. but then “to”: yr not even doing anything, necessarily. you just have to be there. yr not doing anything “for” someone - yr existing and they love you for it. yk?

i feel like i’m not explaining this well because i’m trying to consolidate it otherwise i will yap for too long about it and this post will be like 5000 fucking words but w/e
