Hi there!! I read about this activity proposed by @ecwrenn and I thought about giving it a try. A Year of Writing is basically a newsletter to sumarize the writing you did throughout 2021, as a way of closing the year.

I don't have the greatest memory so it took me a little bit more than I thought to remember all I did this year, so I got my summary done by quarters.

It's under the cut, but before that I wanna say that I'm super glad I got into writeblr because I've met a lot of cool people who bright my day just by seeing them in my dash (I'm sorry I don't talk a lot on discord tho Dx). Even if my following is small I'm happy each one of you is here, and to know there's people who like and show interest in my writing has been a boost to my confidence.

Anyways, thanks!! It's been a good year. Now for real, here's my year of writing:

~ January - April ~

It was on February this year when I decided to change my blog to go into writeblr and I did the post that's pinned on my page.

Around that time I was writing the third act of The Monsters Only We See, as well as the outline for Where Camellias Blossom. After the many troubles a single plot hole on TMOWS story gave me, I finally reached the point where I could finish the second act and go fully onto the third. It was very exciting because I felt I was getting closer and closer to the end of the 1st draft after having to take a big detour to fix the plot hole.

Seeing that I was near the end of writing, I thought it was time to start prepping for another wip and I picked WCB. I had already wrote around 45 pages, but decided I wanted to take a step back and do the outline. And... Well I already new that the story in my head was long and I wasn't gonna be able to fit everything in one book, but the more I wrote the more I realized this needed to be a trilogy. After fixing stuff here and there post-writing, I managed to structure the whole plot on 3 books.

Then I got excited and also plotted a spin off. So the whole series has 4 books now I guess. Oh well.

On March I pushed myself and wrote 80 pages on 10 days or so for a contest and I was very proud of myself. I didn't won and, looking back, I get why: the stories there weren't that good. Still, I was happy to get them out of my brain and into words, and it was a good writing exercise. I'll never repeat what I did to make it to the deadline tho, that left me exhausted mentally and creatively.

It was during this time where I also did a bunch of posts about TMOWS and WCB, a new post a week for like 2-3 months. I thought about keep doing it but my writing speed is simplu not enough for it, and having to do weekly posts kinda stressed me out. So, even tjos I wanna keep doing posts like those, I think I'll avoid the weekly release format for now.

Ah, and on February, my comic celebrated its first anniversary!!! owo)/

~ May - August ~

Okay so one of the most important things of this year happened between this months because I finished the first draft for TMOWS!! I was so, so happy when I did, and ever since then I've been working on editing it. After the 2nd draft was done, I gave it to my first betaa readers and 2-3 said good things about it and also gave me insight of elements to change for the 3rd one.

Not a lot else happened here, I was mostly working on this wip and progressing on my comic, but also enjoying summer vacation and watching the Tokyo Olympics. I probably got a few new wip ideas but I'm too lazy to check them out and see which ones xd

~ September - December ~

So now, finishing the year I managed to do a 3rd draft for TMOWS. However, I think it's better to consider it a 2.1 version of the 2nd one, since the changes were minimal. I also submitted it for a contest and I'm expecting news about it for next year :D

But obviously, the most inportant here was Nanowrimo 2021!! Tho I didn't finish it I managed to reach almost 20K on WCB, so I'm calling that a win. I also realized a few errors on my outline that need to be fixed, so I'd been working on them as I write and thinking about how I'm gonna pace the first book, considering that many things and characters need to be introduced here and I want to make it as smooth as possible, without info dumps. It's gonna be tricky but, hopefully, I can do it.

(Maybe I can do a little bit of info dump and get away with it, who knows, we'll see.)

And I did the 100th page of my comic a few days ago, too! I believe it's already scheduled on Tapas for next year to be published.

~ Next year plans ~

A friend encouraged me to translate my works myself and tho I still feel intimidated by the task, I think I'll do it. So based on this, I want to open a BetaBooks account next year to get feedback on the translations I do, but also on the book in general (this won't happen if I get to win the contest tho)

I definitely want to find a way to publish TMOWS at some point next year, wether it is traditional route (via the contest) or indie route.

Maybe do something with Patreon, too? I saw somebody on Tumblr talking about using it as a platform to release book chapters and at the end give the e-book, but Idk if it'll work for me. And since my book releases aren't exactly gonna be regular, asking for a monthly payment seems like too much. We'll see, but I do wanna give it another look to see how I'll use it.

Of course, I'm gonna keep writing WCB and, hopefully, can also get a good progress on That One Wip I have in the back waiting for me. But next year's Nano is gonna be WCB again for sure, and it'll keep being that until I finish the trilogy I guess.

What are your veiws on China?? owo

PART 1

Well this has turned controversial very quickly ;-)  China... Where do I even begin with that man? Let's begin with my empire.  We were forced into an arranged marriage, which neither of us wanted. I thought the plan was to just conquer him, but marriage? I never even considered it, let alone with him. He was repulsed by the idea and I don't blame him, after all, who'd want to marry an uncultured barbarian ™?  Now when I say marriage, I don't mean he got in a white dress and all that stuff (though that would have been hilarious to witness). It was more like, documented, written down and declared official. I foolishly believed that this meant that this marriage was merely just a political thing and I wouldn't have to spend my time living as his husband. Boy was I wrong.

Yes, to a large extent, it was political. But, there was another layer to this so called "marriage" which was revealed to me later. My leaders wanted me to use this marriage to get closer to China, use it to manipulate him and to derive information from him, make him do what they wanted. Now, I was against this for two reasons, 1) There's no way this "plan" would have worked. How the hell could I get close to a man, who's cities and people I've destroyed? It was ludicrous! 2) Believe it or not, despite being a barbarian™, I thought this this was at least a liiitle bit fucked up. He was already broken enough, and we were, at that stage, already completely dominating him. This marriage was wayy too, extra? Also, I strongly believe that marriage should be between people who care about and love each other, so the fact I was put into an arranged marriage just to manipulate someone I had no feelings for?No thank you.

Believe it or not, this plan did, in a way, "work", but not in the way you might think.  I did manage to get close to him, and this was the start of a life long power struggle the both of us have with each other.   It started off small at first. We were made to live with each other, sleep in the same bedroom. And this is where I witnessed his nightmares. He'd often have nightmares about what was happening to him, what might happen to him etc, he'd wake up screaming, sweating, all that bullshit, I'd try to ignore it and sleep off the guilt. But the guilt became overwhelming, and also, I needed some fucking sleep, so I decided that I... might try comforting him. Ask him if he was okay, if he needed water etc. He was surprisingly polite to me during all of this, even opened up to me a little bit. 

Then he began to depend on me to comfort him after all of his nightmares, claiming that he "needed" me to comfort him and that it was my fault he was having nightmares so I should take responsibility. I couldn't argue against that, so I complied. At first, I saw it as a task to do, sort of like taking care of a baby (yuck). He wakes up crying, I go over there and "take responsibility" by,, making physical contact with him (not sex, hugging, but, we'll get to that later...).

China is a clever man, I knew that he knew what I was doing, why we were put into this "marriage", why he was treated differently from other nations I conquered such as Russia, it was as clear as day it was a set up to manipulate him. Yet he seemed to enjoy this attention, this set up. He began to willingly follow me everywhere, much to my confusion and my leaders joy. To this day, I don't know why he acted like that (stockholm syndrome, perhaps?) because I never questioned him about it. I'm ashamed to admit this, but I was enjoying it too.

I liked how I had a companion who I could talk to and confide in, I liked to feel him on me because I never experienced such intimacy before (unless you count 6 year old me pecking girls on the cheek and acting as if I was Tengri's gift to women afterwards as "intimacy") I liked how wrong it felt when we did it, I know, disgusting and yes I am ashamed, but I didn't stop myself because he enjoyed it too. My leaders began to suspect that this set up was not working, and to be fair, it never worked in the first place. So they separated us for a while. It was for the best, the relationship became intoxicating and the power dynamic between us was extreeemly unbalanced, which isn't good for either side of the party I suppose.

What goes up must come back down. My empire was crumbling. After Kublai, we were divided, and we became more and more divided. I became paranoid, I didn't know who to trust, I cast everyone away, including China. It's either that or he saw his opportunity to escape and took it.

In 1368 when the Ming dynasty took over my capital, is when I next saw him. I asked him what he wanted. He then grabbed me, stuck his tongue down my throat (which surprised me, to say the least) ,and said revenge. I told him to fuck off and he did.

For a while.

We submitted to the Qing dynasty in 1691, and this is where the shitstorm of our relationship becomes a - diarrhoea storm?

Session 18 Summary: The Cure

Finally, after weeks and years of bad news, there is finally hope for Iotath. Paddy obtains the will of grandfather, which turns out to be forged. Wall remembers more about his creation. Poth does some pirate stuff. Roth gets commanded to fix his posture. Cynthia gets cured, but at a horrible cost.

((I apologize in advance for the length of the summary. There were a lot of major plot points hit this session, and I want to make sure everything is mentioned. Also, post-session, the party leveled to Level 6!))

> The morning after the assassination attempt, the crew manages to get a bit of rest before beginning the investigation. Paddy begins to collect what he currently knows and starts considering some suspects. However, there is still no defined suspect.

> Paddy gets curious about the will that his grandfather wrote down, as it is possible that it could have been someone wishing to take his place as heir of the household. Jeeves tells Paddy that the will is stored in the town hall of Vunedar. The artificer decides to head to Town Hall to get a better look at the will. Roth and Wall agree to join Paddy on his walk to the city, but Cynthia declines. “He can handle himself,” Cynthia mentioned upon Jeeves calling her out on it. The three leave, with Poth eventually joining them.

> Instead, Cynthia requests to speak to Vadithas in private. He accepts her request, and the two head towards the ship. 

> On the ship, Cynthia quickly makes sure no one else is on the ship except for Nur and Zephyr. Afterwards, she asks Vadithas about progress on the cure. Cynthia asks if Vadithas needs test subjects, and after he says yes, Cynthia takes off her helmet and reveals that she is infected with the Plague.

> Vadithas looks through a journal, where he recalls writing down that anyone infected with the Plague should die within a day. With Cynthia still being alive, they realize that the Plague is able to have “healthy carriers”, which explains the fall of Ekrund and Hundelstone. 

> Vadithas tells Cynthia that he has a new version of a possible cure that Cynthia could try, but he mentions that she should probably burn everything she “commonly comes in contact with” (her clothes). The alchemist prepares all of the ingredients and then creates the potion. He warns Cynthia to drink the potion with some food, but he doesn’t even get a chance to explain why before Cynthia desperately chugs it. She miraculously passes a CON save, but the potion still tastes like vomit that had been heated up. For a moment, she seems absolutely fine, but she quickly passes out from a sudden wave of exhaustion. It is implied that Nur got nearly violent with Vadithas from seeing Cynthia unconscious, but luckily, no combat ensued.

> Paddy, Poth, Roth, and Wall walk to Vunedar, and they are stopped at the gate by guards. Initially, Poth and Roth were going to have to submit to testing, but Paddy attested that neither have the Plague. The guards let everyone pass through.

> The guys all make it to town hall, but on the way there, Poth steals a bunch of sausages and candy. Inside town hall, they find the records line and at first wait in line, but the crew catches their eyes on a ragged man in front of another line. The man asks to see the mayor of Vunedar, and he threatens the clerk by saying that there would be big problems if he did not. Curious, Paddy asks Roth to hold his spot in line, and Wall joins Paddy as they approach the man.

> Paddy asks the man what the problem is, and the man asks for Paddy’s name. After Paddy reveals his name, the man remembers him, and he asks about Jeeves. Paddy (to the man asking if Jeeves is still kissing his ass) says yes, and then asks about the man’s name.

> The man reveals himself to be Zorin, or Zorgoth the Protector. Zorin was the mayor of Hundelstone and was rumored to have contained a dragon. Wall, upon hearing the name, identifies Zorin as a “potential threat”. 

> Zorin says that he is here to gather help to “cleanse the land” of the Plague. Paddy, a bit uneasy when he says that phrase (thanks to the cultists), asks for specifics, but Zorin does not give too much information. However, he assures that there is no ill intention.

> Paddy mentions that Vadithas has made progress on a cure, although he is unaware of the events happening as they speak. Zorin, interested, says that if it is true, then Vadithas should be brought before the council and the other alchemists. 

> Zorin acknowledges Wall, and oH BOY WE FINALLY HAVE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. Wall searches his databanks for mentions of Zorin and finds a log of a creation debug report that mentions him. Wall asks about if Zorin has anything related to the warforged, but Zorin seems to ignore him. Wall grabs Zorin. Zorin says that the earlier numbers of warforged were unable to have sentience, and Wall also remembers this. Wall lets go, and Paddy and Wall head back to the line.

> Paddy brides the line, giving everyone ahead of him 2 gp. They finally obtain the will. Poth disappears again. Roth wishes he has the Alert spell.

> Meanwhile, back on the ship, Cynthia wakes up again, but she finds herself under Nur and in the celestial plane. She is welcomed by Sune, who seems to be happy that Cynthia is “finally recovering”. Cynthia asks about the war of the gods, and Sune answers that nothing much has happened. At that point, Sune mentions that the recovery appears to be at a cost. Cynthia realizes that her celestial form is covered in holes, which infers that the cure simply removed the infected parts. Cynthia asks for advice, and Sune reminds Cynthia about a deal they had made in Session 8: “find the right weapon and I’ll be with you.”

> Cynthia wakes up in the material plane, where Vadithas is trying to get her awake. Cynthia doesn’t stay awake for long, though, only asking Vadithas if he is okay and then telling Nur to get Paddy. Mechanically, Cynthia is cured of the Plague, but she is lore-wise not fully cured. Additionally, as revealed later in the session, she will be unable to use her full magic for a while.

> The crew exit town hall, and Paddy mentions to the crew that he wants to find a forger. Poth says that he could find someone. After walking into dark alleyways and finding some middlemen, they find a forgery expert. 

> The lady sees the will, and without a missed heartbeat, she says that she knows the will was forged because it was her own forgery. Paddy pays the lady for the information, and agrees to pay extra if someone asks about the situation.

> Upon exiting, and a small conversation with Poth, it was revealed that the entire encounter with the forger was pure luck, as Poth simply responded by “They look sleazy, so...”, referring to the middlemen.

> The crew minus the idiot captain arrives back at the manor. However, the doors don’t open instantly, and the rich kid has to actually open a door for once. They search the manor for a short bit for Jeeves, and the search is quick. Jeeves and Zorin are talking at the dining table. It should be noted that upon hearing Zorin’s voice, Wall broke the door handle and entered the room, which would normally be out of character for Wall. However, character development is happening, and it is good. Also, we get to hear that Jeeves lost a bet at some point and became in debt to the McLoughlin’s, which is why he is a butler.

> Paddy goes to talk to his mother, and Roth joins. The conversation does not give any additional story, but it does reveal that Paddy’s mother is not someone anyone should mess with. Paddy reveals the forgery to his mother, and they have a minor argument related to how he got to the conclusion before the two guys left. As they were leaving, Paddy’s mother commanded Roth to straighten up.

> Paddy returns downstairs, where Nur begins to annoy Paddy and try to get his attention. However, Paddy ignores Nur for a bit, returning to the dining table to sink his head onto the table, and Paddy asks for a drink. Jeeves gets conflicted but eventually asks for a drink. Zorin gets both. 

> After a good drink, Paddy asks Jeeves about making his mother head of the household. Jeeves says he could, but Paddy could also reinstate his father. After some more conversation: - Paddy attempts to recruit Jeeves after hearing that Jeeves disintergrated the monster. - Paddy asks Jeeves to send a message to his father. Jeeves just does it, and he gets a reply from his father.

> Paddy finally acknowledges Nur, but can’t understand Nur. However, Nur is lucky because Zorin knows Celestial. Zorin relays the message to Paddy in pieces, understanding that Cynthia is unconscious, something about a golden potion, and something about Vadithas and his feet tasting good. This is unsurprising, as Cynthia is always unconscious. However, Paddy goes to check in on her, and the crew plus Zorin follow. Before they leave, Zorin reveals a terrifying lore drop and reveals that Nur is the right hand of Sune, but no one puts this fully together because everyone thinks Cynthia named it after the right hand of Sune. Meanwhile, out of character, everyone is terrified of their new owo-speaking overlord.

> Zorin does a sick alternative to Misty Step. Roth is amazed and wants to learn it, despite Misty Step being a spell he could learn normally.

> Paddy, Poth, Roth, Wall, and Zorin return to the ship. Upon entering the lower decks, they find Cynthia asleep in her quarters, and they notice her skin tone isn’t as purple as it has been.

> They find Vadithas, and Paddy brings up Zorin. Zorin gets called a relic by an unsuspecting Vadithas. Zorin appears, and Vadithas and Zorin talk for a moment.

> Paddy asks about the cure progress, and Vadithas responds by saying that he is testing a new version and they’ll know in “a few hours’ time”. Wall asks about if it relates to Cynthia being asleep. Vadithas gets nervous. Paddy think it’s something to do with Cynthia’s now-canon purple socks. Roth tries to help Paddy put two-and-two together and fails. 

> Zorin says that he doesn’t detect The Plague on Cynthia, and he says the information that Cynthia should be dead, given old Plague theory. Vadithas gives the good news and bad news: - Good news: Cynthia is cured. - Bad news: “healthy” carriers exist, and the current cure may kill uninfected. Also, the current cure prevents the use of magic for a while.

> Wall and Roth ask about the alternate Misty Step. Roth learns it immediately, but for Wall, it may take time. However, with this, Zorin is amazed that a warforged can cast magic, and he’s also amazed after Roth demonstrates Warlock Punch.

> This begins a timeskip that is summarized in Session 19.

Not sure if I should ask but how do you feel about drawing nsfw art or nsfw fanart of your characters?

Well I’m certainly no stranger to nsfw art and I’m ok withit, in fact I have friends who I follow that make that kind of stuff. I wasalways nervous about drawing it myself because I’m not ready for that kind ofreputation. owo”

As for you guys drawing nsfw art of my characters, If Ihappen to have any characters that “strike your fancy” then by all means, goahead, you’re free to draw whatever you want, however since I want to keep thisblog relatively clean, I won’t be posting it to this blog. You can still submityour art to me and I’ll be sure to give you my thanks though and I guess I’m okwith you posting the art on your own blogs but I won’t be reblogging it hereagain, just to keep things clean. Unless you for some reason want to draw mypersona in a lewd situation then I’d rather you not post it and just send it tome.

Maybe if I ever have to confidence to make a nsfw blog inthe future I’ll let you guys know but that’s still just a thought.
