okay you know fucking what. i love taylor. i think she's amazing, i cried watching miss americana, you need to calm down makes me go bonkers. and while she was right to call out That Line in gng, because it's a tired, overdone sexist narrative that needs to stop, y'all need to stop too. the show has its flaws, the writing is questionable at points and it could have dealt with some of the topics better, but it's not what they're making it to be. it's not a misogynistic show written by men. for what it's worth, it had an all-women creative team (and yeah, maybe that makes that one line even worse, but i do think representation behind the camera should count for something too) and its intention was to be progressive and start conversation. did it fully succeed? no, it was a mess sometimes and they should fix that in the coming seasons. but was the tone overall positive, does it have potential and is it a huge step from many shows u can find? abso-fucking-lutely yes.

so yeah. call out misogynistic jokes. call out bad writing. people need to do better. but do not, do not 1) send hate to the cast, they did not write the show and i can tell you with confidence it wasn't ts' intention to send her fans after the woc newcomer who was literally just doing her job 2) stop giving the show unnecessary low rating. "tHe pOwEr tHe sWiFtiEs hOLd" yes the power to discontinue the show that was originally about a biracial teenage girl, had nothing to do with taylor, was usually very sex-positive, tackled important subjects, and had one inappropriate, insensitive line?? that's absurd. netflix needs to apologize, stop the sexist narrative and do better in the future, and y'all need to chill the fuck out.

abby littman stans are either thirteen year olds or have the maturity of one. yeah, i get that the girl is going through it, but the extent that some people will go to defend her is ridiculous

oh say that!

don't get me wrong i love mang's toxic dynamic and find abby and ginny's strained hostile relationship really interesting. the tense back and forth had me hooked. abby is so jealous and threatened by ginny, she's so cunty, and i love that. her antagonising ginny is literally the best part of her character for me and is why i genuinely love her. like i hate her but im absolutely thrilled she's here and i wouldn't change her for the world. im a fan of her, shew not my #1 but i like her presence on the show.

i get fandoms scrambling to defend flawed characters and alieviate them of their Sins so they can feel like good people for liking them is In right now, but it's my opinion that insight into abby's life isn't there to make us sympathise with her and excuse her targetting ginny but understand her better and humanise her. her illness and home life are motivations for her to displace her anger onto ginny, her anger is displaced onto ginny because max really took to her and she's threatened, it ties into her own insecurities about how she sees herself and feels in her own skin versus how beloved ginny is. they're all reasons, not excuses.

some fans of her essentially make out like because ginny is annoying and messy and maybe everything abby sees in her has some truth to it she deserves the way abby treats her which is wrong to me. and if they genuinely think that then yes they've got the emotional and mental age of a 13 year old.

i was extremely taken aback by how loved abby seems to be by fandom in contrast to how hated ginny is simultaneously, when abby is only interesting because of ginny jdskrjsjrhsj. ginny made her special. away from her dynamic with mang she's bland.

abby is bitchy and mean but they sympathise because of her home life, but ginny's struggles don't overrule her flaws the same way, she doesn't garner the same reaction. she gets the opposite because people tend to be witnessing her from their preference for georgia from what i can see.

the gng fandom can't exactly cope with conflict between characters. they simply have to pick a side instead of comprehending the nuance of it and both parties involved and realising the show never asked you to bet on either of them nor did it tell you which one was right if there was a right. it just showed you something. you did the rest. most of the time they BOTH have a Point, or at the very least you Get why they're on the side they are and that's what made it so engaging for me.

something i find especially fascinating is her reaction to herself slapping ginny. her real feelings leaked through in the moment before as more than just a catty or passive aggressive comment. the "screw you ginny" is dripping with vitriol and pushed down bitterness and you can see she really does feel strongly about ginny. now ginny wasn't wrong. she wasn't right either but she wasn't wrong. we saw it ourselves how completely off the fucking rails ginny's home life is all season, abby isn't the only one with family troubles, abby calling them "bad friends" was a little harsh and entirely hypocritical considering the way she treated ginny from the start, ginny was then hypocritical back to her saying "it's not always about you" when ginny does tend to think everything is about her and abby KNOWS THIS. and that was the final straw. that's been bothering her since DAY ONE. that in her eyes everything's ALWAYS about GINNY. so she literally shocks herself by lashing out. then she punishes herself and makes it 'even'. and that's what abby does. punishes herself. projects onto ginny, takes it out on ginny who represents her insecurities and fears but it's herself who isn't good enough. it's ginny's fault for being better, but she knows it's her own for letting her. that's how i inferred abby's internal monologue through some of their interactions. i think it would be really fun to see ginny return more unapologetic and push back against abby this time. might spice things up between them.

i personally would love to see more of nora tbh.

Oh lord A LOT, LET ME TELL YOU... LMAO I loveeeee including symbolism and hidden references/easter eggs, callbacks/foreshadow/ALL of that, so much it’s hard to pick just one thing, but um, a few examples! From Everybody’s Lonely: 

Things hadn’t worked out for Kevin, either. Moose had to leave town, because that’s what happens when guys like him or Reggie, guys with dads like theirs, come out.

Best case scenario, that’s what happens.

Good thing guys like Reggie don’t need to come out at all.

When the cast sheet goes live, Reggie draws a little heart on it, just as a joke. Just another stupid, impulsive move.

Reggie rubs at his mouth a little uncomfortably. He remembers Joaquin and remembers when he was found dead amidst all the GNG activity last year, but that’s about all he’d known about it.

“I thought I’d hold onto them. Dunno what I’ll do with them now, but it didn’t seem right to throw ‘em away.”

Which is a reference to the Joaquin story in the Riverdale: S3 tie-in comics.

What’s the story idea you’ve had in your head for the longest?

One that I never finished 😭Chuck/Reggie/Moose dealing with their Jason trauma which I started back in season 1 but then lost steam with... might still steal bits and pieces from it where I can to recycle into other things, though.

Riverdale is... a show that exist

When Riverdale’s first season was release in January 2017, it was an experience I never had before with any film and tv. The show itself is based on the characters of Archie Comics, but the show does nothing with material of the comics. Like in Archie comics, Archie has trouble deciding whether he wants to play football or music, Betty and Veronica trying out for cheerleading or Jughead writing for the school paper. They are just regular teenagers doing regular high school activities. Instead of doing a regular teen soap opera the show went a murder mystery story, with the purge, mafia, mini twin peaks, underground fight club, and more genres that makes show have an identity crisis. It’s due to this the show has terrible writing, questionable choices, nonsensical plot, too many subplots but never resolves, and the show that thinks there so cleaver then they are.

  When I was watching Riverdale’s third season and looking back how we got from season 1 to 3. From regular kids worrying about high school problems. To dealing evil death cults that has a grudge of the town of Riverdale and it’s in habitants. To explain what I mean, the show introduces a villain called The Gargoyle King. Is a villain that use drugs from the chalices for a game called GnG (Gryphons and Gargoyles) where kids use the game to decide their fate whether they ascended with the Gargoyle King or they die to become a sacrifice for the game or something…? It gets very confusing real fast especially in the finale where they face–off with the mastermind of the whole Gargoyle King incident and in the end the finale just raised a lot more questions than answers.

 In conclusion Riverdale is a show that didn’t follow the simple format of the comics that the show is based on, instead the show that tries to do so many things at once that it doesn’t know what it is or what it wants. However, I would still recommend to people to try to watch the show and see what were talking about.

Riverdale season 3 episode 9 is a mess. None of the characters feel like themselves. What the hell was the quarantine for? Has Archie ever actually played a game of GnG? Hes hallucinating a whole game of it but we've never seen him ever see the game? Cheryl and Toni don't even seem right? Am I the only person who is falling out of love with this show?? Like yes it's ridiculous but nothing seems to make sense anymore. It's all over the place. I miss the season 1 stuff honestly. I'm so sad.

Why do you like Yang/Merc so much Adox

OK LET’S JUST DIVE INTO THAT QUESTION SHALL WE. 

It’s obvious from the second you look at them; Yang and Mercury are foils. They parallel each other in basically every way. Silver and Gold, Arms and Legs, Mommy issues and Daddy issues etc etc. But if you go deeper than that, they fit the brand far more than just being mirror images of each other. 

A foil character is one who brings out the traits of their counterpart very dramatically. It makes a character “shine” more, hence the name “foil” character (shining like foil). Examples of foil characters outside of RWBY are Romeo and Mercutio from Romeo and Juliet (Mercutio’s humorous skepticism brings out the melodramatic romantic of romeo) or Peter Quill and Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy (Peter’s goofy nature is made funnier or more obvious in the presence of a very stoic and serious Gamora). 

So this gets into why I love GnG so much. Yang and Mercury are the PERFECT example of foil characters done right, and the way that their respective developments play off of each other is incredibly interesting to dissect. 

Yang’s whole journey from volumes 1-3 to Volume 5 is about realizing that she needs to get more mature and less impulsive. She’s canonically admitted to being aimless and without a direct goal, and she’s always been the most bullheaded character in the cast (outside of Adam. purely for pun reasons). As she grows, she learns to be more calm and less stubborn (outlined by her conversation with her dad in volume 4). She develops a goal; protecting Ruby. And that’s basically where we are with her character. 

So what does Mercury have to do with it? 

Well, Mercury works as a way to truly see Yang’s progress as a character, and vice versa, as we get closer and closer to Mercury’s own character arc. 

In the first GnG fight, during the tournament, you’re really able to see how Yang is super bullheaded in comparison to the very agile and precise Merc. 

In previous fights, like the one with team FNKI, or the one in the Yellow Trailer, this was shown as an asset. Her fun fighting style and her explosive semblance make her seem almost unbeatable. However, in this fight, the viewer is actually able to see some flaws in that argument. It’s obvious now, that this is a weakness. Mercury plays her like a game of cards as he uses that same temper that aided her in so many victories against her, and frames her. He establishes her main weakness in both battle, and as a character. 

And this comes into play when she fights Adam. It makes sense. Her impulsive nature is brought out in that fight, while Mercury’s calm and in control attitude shines brighter. Without that fight, her defeat at Adam’s hands wouldn’t have made at much sense. Her later character growth would’ve felt out of the blue. 

Mercury is also used to show how Yang has grown, in their rematch during the Battle at Haven. 

You are able to see that the tables have turned dramatically. Mercury fights more aggressively, probably because he and Emerald have been knocked down a peg by hanging out with Salem and friends. He has little outbursts every time he’s not in control, something brought out by the way that Yang proves herself to have learned to be more thoughtful. 

I think that even though it felt a bit cheesy with how it was incorporated, the moment where Yang detaches her arm is SO important to both of their developments, because it subliminally shows the viewer exactly where these characters are in their arcs, and how they’ve changed in the past few seasons.

I think that even though Yang and Mercury’s relation to each other as characters and foils is obvious, it’s also the most well written. There is so much subtle, show-not-tell with these two. And even if you don’t ship them, you seriously can’t deny it. These two characters may not interact often, and may not ever end up on good terms, but they are very interweaved in terms of growth, and will probably continue to be that way for awhile. 

I may be overanalyzing this but yeah. It’s for this reason ^^ that I want to see more of them. Not only would they have really fun banter and fighting styles, but if Rooster Teeth continues with the way they’ve been writing them (albeit with some better dialogue) i think that there can be some really interesting stuff in the future. 

So yeah as a writer I really enjoy such intricate character work, and foil characters are some of my favorite things to overanalyze because they can have so many layers and impacts on one another. If these two were in a relationship, outside of the plot/series obviously, they could bring each other up respectively, something that’s really fun for me to write. 

Also I love them both so there’s that.

Got tagged by @fenkoli​ to answer and ask 11 questions so ehhhhh, ye I’m doing this because why not 1) what’s the weirdest dream you’ve ever had?

I was 4 years old and I woke up in my parents bed room, it had been turned into a bar of the wild west and everybody was fighting each other. I went up to my dad to ask what was going on and he yelled "Son! Wake up your mother and get out of here! He’s coming....” as he swung a char at an old man. I was confused, because I am indeed a lady and was wearing a pajama dress so there’s no way he could've mistaken me for a boy. Besides, he didn’t even have a son so it was extra odd but besides the weirdness I did as my father told me. We had to hurry, because he was about to arrive. I run up to my mother trough the rain of whiskey bottles and drunk stinky men trying to tackle one another. Finally I come up to my mom who is sound asleep. “Mom, wake up!!” I yelled, shaking her to get her to get up....but it was too late. He, the Nesquik bunny, came trough the door wearing his extremely fashionable cowboy outfit. His cold eyes searched the room. Soon he saw me trying to wake up my mother and he  bolted towards us! “No!!!” I screeched as the Nesquik bunny shoved me out of the way and put his knife trough my mothers skull. Everything stopped, as the knife set to flames. The Nesquik bunny was satisfied and proudly gazed upon our horrified faces. “How could you!” I said, quietly and in disgust of his crimes. He was surprised, like he expected the get praised for what he had done. He looked around the room in confusion and as he saw the teary eyes of the Lost boys from Peter Pan the Disney™ movie he realized what he had done was Not Nice. He took off his now a little-less-fashionable-because-I-don’t-think-he-is-a-nice-person cowboy hat in sorrow and whimpered “I’m sorry...”

2) what song has a special meaning to you and why?

I have plenty but I’ll just say a couple;

Crywank- It’s ok I wouldn’t remember me either because it sums up my depressive episodes perfectly and gives me comfort. Luckily I haven’t had those in a while though, but I still hold this song close to my heart.

The entire Okami soundtrack because it’s the first video game I ever played and it reminds me of good times which is nice. 

The Stardew Valley soundtrack because the game really helps me with anxiety issues and I honestly owe this game so much for keeping me afloat when the Mood Drop hits.

Rain Sounds because they sound peaceful and beautiful, plus it reminds me to stop and appreciate the world for a minute and think how life is amazing (even if it was hard sometimes) and how I’m so happy to be able to experience tiny drops of water hitting the ground, making such a soft and enjoyable sound.

... *closes the door to my room where you can see an aquarium, a crested gecko cage, a praying mantis cage in the making, a dubia roach colony and an empty tank * I collect dust, cute things like stickers and key charms... and I suppose I do have a pretty decent GNG/GDW collection including all the mangas, some figures and a few other things like the GDW art book and stuff like that...

I have a some fake plants and vines for my gecko and a few live plants for my bio-active praying mantis tank, but solely for myself I have a Venus fly trap, a houseplant I can’t remember the name of and I’m hoping to get some air plants and/or succulents in the future.

I was (very horribly) put in jail for a short time on three ocassions one week each instance. It was really illegit. It actually should not be so calmly taken as if it’s just/fair etc to arrest someone no matter what, however. It is barbarian n hostile, as is this society. But anyhow, i barely could use the phone n there was no mention of the intenet. It was upsetting i was not able to let people know what was happening further. People are largely cut off to be put in jail which is quite what i would guess is the point of putting them in there.
