Hey folks so GMMore 2616 went to some interesting places, no?
I am talking about the how many years each of them would ideally live segment.
First, Rhett makes a joke about whether he should answer how much Link would want to live or he would want Link to live, implying that Rhett would want Link to live less so he can escape from his difficult character.
I don't know if it was payback or just because Link often makes this strange joke, but Link then comments that he took into account that Rhett will have an earlier death and his bad death is just sure thing due to his height leading to bad health.
How nice. This joke is just so common between them I find it weird because it is a little cruel. Link also never looks delighted when he makes this joke, so I wonder whether this is a coping mechanism, like exorcising this fear with humour.
Rhett continues with his own joke and says that Link would probably be able to get up to 98 without problem but all his loved ones would probably prefer him gone by 75. Link laughs along at first and acknowledges some truth to it but he gets a little pensive because of it. Then after all this, Link observes:
"So that means your answer for how long you want to live is 76"
Rhett does not refuse this (although he is still clearly in the mindset of his joke) and agrees. Link further explains why to the audience:
"Because he's a year older than me"
So, what Link reasoned is that if Rhett expects or wants Link to die at 75, then logically he also wants to die at 76, at the same year. LIKE. Maybe this is a joke of "you can't live without me"??? Or something that has been discussed between them???????????????????????
Then Link goes on about wanting to reach 91 and he estimates he may be in good physical health but he is going to have some kind of dementia, but he would just be happy to be around for Rhett just to "put him in places". By the way, I wasn't sure he said "him" about Rhett because it was muttered very quickly but according to the official subtitles apparently he did.
Then this little melody
which may or may not have had some small effect on Rhett:

Note
about gmmore 2616: when i watched it i thought that by 'so that means you want to die at 76', link meant that another way for rhett to make sure he wouldn't have to deal with link after he's 75 is to die first (instead of waiting for link to die).
Yes it could be that if he meant it as an alternative!
