Mao: CCP is not working with the Japanese government

In an interview with Mao Ze Dong, leader of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), expressed that he swiftly rejected the Japanese’s initiation to cooperate together. “This shows that the Japanese are weak. If our armies push on, we will win the war,” Mao confidently expressed. He also reiterated his point that the Kuomintang (KMT) and Chinese Communist Party (CCP) would forgo past differences and work together. However, there has recently been news that the CCP is working with the Japanese government. 

According to Iwai Eiichi, the CCP will be able to provide on KMT plans and strategies in fighting Japanese soldiers in exchange for truce between the Japanese and CCP. This is clearly an act of betrayal which Mao would not commit. As a dedicated leader of the CCP, he has pledged to be loyal to his country and people. Instead, it was discussed during the council sessions that there would be more intelligence gathering on the Japanese. One delegate suggested sending spies into the Japanese side. Mao approved of this but warned them to be careful in their actions. 

Mao also added that it would be futile to negotiate with the Japanese government to buy time for the soldiers. “The Japanese have already attacked key places in China. We must fight back immediately. We have to stop the Japanese's malicious intent to take over China,” he proclaimed animatedly. Another key point mentioned by Mao was to boost the soldier’s morale. It is extremely important as this would be their motivation to fight. Mao urged the soldiers and civilians to have faith and trust the government. “We are not just fighting for ourselves. We are fighting for the whole United China,” he said. Lastly, Mao reminded everyone to stay vigilant and be aware of false information spread by the enemy.
