As far as the lockscreen, I had just seen a cardinal outside when that popped up on my dash, and so a bit of synchronicity there. Cardinals are said to be “good luck omens” too...and the song because I’ve been on a Rope Sect kick lately and that is what I’m listening to now on my phone, this very second...as far as the last thing I saved: I had just heard about the Alaska Triangle tonight. I always knew about the Bermuda triangle but didn’t realize that there was an Alaskan one too. I’m a sucker for “weird stuff”, the weirder, the better, lol. Oh, and my wallpaper because it reminds me of a personal place that’s cozy and warm, and so very near and dear to my heart.

If not, it’s because I am truly a part of the woods and not the person who took this pic of one of my state park haunts.

Someday I will do what is considered a normal selfie, but until then pretend I’m one of those magical creatures your camera seems to take a pic of at first, only to have it quickly fade out of sight- you know you saw it. You aren’t hallucinating. I was right there. No matter how many times you take a pic, or with what device, I disappear except for an occasional orb manifestation in the day or just a pair of glowing eyes in the night. I disappear faster than Snapchat pics.

As a reclusive magical being, I will not compel, trick or enchant any of the following to do a selfie. Nickname? I never really had a nickname. My Dad used to call me Sarah Bernhardt (1844 - 1922) because he thought I was overly dramatic at times. It is possible that may have been true. But beyond that, no nicknames. I take myself way too seriously for that. Although, in the last 10 years or so, really since I’ve had an online presence, I’ve been called “Jilly”. And that is entirely my fault. For the sake of email addresses and screen names, I’d changed “Jill E” to “Jilly”, and it stuck. And I also had one friend who referred to me as “JC”.

Height? 5′3 and 3/4”, but I probably have shrunk since I was that height. Plus, my posture is horrid.

Last thing you searched for? Sarah Bernhardt’s time alive.

Favorite musician? Ian McCulloch (Echo and the Bunnymen), Joey Ramone (the Ramones, obviously), Itzhak Perlman (violinist extraordinaire), Joe Walsh (James Gang, the Eagles), JS Bach.

What song is stuck in my head? Beach Baby. Yeah. I dunno. 🤷🏼‍♀️ 

If I had a time machine would I go back or visit the future? I’m not sure I’d want to use it. The past is painful. The future is terrifying. I’m having enough difficulty handling the present. I know that I’ve kinda often said that I don’t fit in this time period... but I’m not sure if there really is a time period I would fit in. I know people say they’d go back in time and kill Hitler before he did all he did. That’s great. Wonderful! Go for it! I don’t have what it takes to be able to do that. I have difficulty talking to the GrubHub guy when he brings my pizza. I’ll leave the saving humanity stuff to the others with the energy and ability and proper disposition. (I guess that makes me technically “part of the problem”.)

Do I get asks? I used to get tons (or at least it felt like it), but I got overwhelmed. I just stopped answering, but I intended to answer some day. I just never did. When I used to be a somewhat different blog from what I am now, I got a lot of anons who felt it necessary to be rude or overly inappropriate. Some were nice. But a lot were critical and unkind. I know I’m old. I know I’m fat (currently). I didn’t need to be told those things simply because of my posts. So I stopped posting like that. My Mom had always told me that if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. I wish more folks followed that. Especially on anon.

Who am I following? Too many blogs to be able to keep up with everyone. But I want to. I try to. Y’all are special individuals, and y’all mean something to me. I know I’m intense and come across creepy. It’s not my intention, of course. But I do care about each and every one of y’all. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Would I rather be rich or famous? Definitely rich. I’ve never cared for being the center of attention, so fame really holds nothing for me. But money, that I could use.

How much sleep do I get? I’ve found that I do best with 10 hours. Optimum. I don’t usually get that, though. I tend to go to sleep very late; so when I awake, it feels like i should be getting 10, but I forget how late I went to sleep. So. 7. Maybe 7 1/2.

What’s my favorite food?  Eggplant parm will always be a favourite. Broiled scallops, steak, corn, baked potato, Eggs Benedict, grilled chicken, lobster roll! In general, I like strong tastes. Garlicky, peppery, lemony, vinegar, spices.

Favorites books, films, shows, games?  For books, I’ve always loved the Chronicles of Narnia, The Mists of Avalon, Mary Stewart’s Merlin Trilogy (The Crystal Cave, The Hollow Hills, The Last Enchantment), The Devil in the White City. For films, Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim vs the World, Airplane!, Groundhog Day (I can watch it over and over and over), The Replacements, Bad Milo!, Kate & Leopold, The Devil’s Advocate, Constantine. For shows, Psych (all-time favourite), Kolchak: The Night Stalker, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the Dead Files, most ghost shows, Mysteries at the Museum, Bar Rescue. For console games, Crash Bandicoot, Andretti Racing, Sonic; for phone games, The Simpson’s Tapped Out, Plants vs Zombies, Song POP, Angry Birds 2. I’m boring (and old). Ha.

Lucky number? 3. I used to prefer even numbers, but the past few years have led me to 3, 5, and 8 as being preferred numbers.

Do you play any instruments? I am technically a classically trained pianist, with lessons starting at age 5, and intentions of more study at the college level (but I didn’t). I also played guitar, ukulele, autoharp, steel drum, and church organ. I haven’t played any instrument in the past 20 or so years. When you’re told you’re not a “real musician” because you only play classical and don’t improvise (because you’re more comfortable trusting others’ interpretations), you tend to not want to play in front of those who say those things. I do look forward to playing two- and three-part inventions again... with maybe a fugue thrown in for fun.

What am I wearing? My Grumpy (of the Seven Dwarfs fame) t-shirt and capris (and slippers).

What’s my dream job? I don’t know what I’d want to do. For a short while as a child, I alternated dreams of being a concert pianist with fantasies of being a stripper/hooker/sex worker. Neither of those ideas came to fruition. As recently as ten years ago, I’d still thought I could fall back on hooking, if necessity called. Turns out that if necessity did call, I wouldn’t be answering anyway. I had high school dreams of becoming an archaeologist, but I’m too high maintenance (I like indoor plumbing too much). I had training in dressmaking/tailoring/fashion, but family illness called and needed my attentions elsewhere. The only real skill I have is the ability to type quickly. And that has served me well for a good part of my adult life. But I have little confidence in any skill I used to have, so I have no real idea of what I could do. I’d like to be retired and be a lady of leisure, but finances may not let me pursue that course. Walmart greeter?

Dream trip? Ultimately, I’d love to visit Stonehenge and Saint Michael’s Tower (Glastonbury Tor), Somerset and Cornwall and Tintagel (I have a King Arthur thing). But I don’t believe my body will permit the kind of walking I’d need to do to see those places. So. Disney World? Vegas? New Orleans?

If you were an animal what would you be?  Well. I have been told that I probably was a cat in a previous life. Plus, Garfield is my spirit animal. So, yeah. I’d be a house cat.  

Hobbies? Yeah. Well. Photography (I almost went to college for that, too), reading (but I’ve had issues keeping my brain focused for a few years), I used to enjoy knitting and crocheting and sewing and I’d like to do those things again. And I guess I could put cats in this part of this questionnaire.

Zodiac? Cancer. For a water sign, I sure have issues with water. The tide makes me queasy. And as I’ve aged, I’ve developed a deeper fear... of the deep.

Age? 58 (yeah, I’m old). Retirement community living is seeming more attractive as the days go by. Ha.

Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate! Happy Saturday to those of you who do not!

My parents and the cats were pleased with their gifts. This makes me happy. I love giving but it always makes me so nervous.

I got some nice gifts too. Fun fact about those Knifty Knitter knitting looms: they were just sitting on a shelf at Walmart. They haven't been manufactured in years so how they got there idk but I asked my mom to PLEASE snag those up for me for Christmas so she did.

@glitterkittythefabulous I got the glitter crochet hooks! At least I hope it was you that posted those initially. I know one of my people I follow did and that's how I knew I wanted them, lol.

I'm super excited about the Steam credit. Their winter sale is going on right now so I need to figure out how to get the best use out of my wishlist.

Now hopefully it gets cold enough to wear the cowl / hoodie thing mom made me. Today would not be a good day for it. It is quite warm.
