Baby Names | Reader X Aaron Hotchner
i take requests! plsss dm me or leave them here if u have anything fun you'd like me to write. it can be angst, anytype of trope, smut, etc. • PLZ NOTE: i ONLY do oneshots. they differ from long to short depending on the character and story. i do not write series! • baby names - 696 words • desc.: - so much fluff!!! - pregnant y/n
• • • • ~ ʚĭɞ ~ • • • • ~ ʚĭɞ ~• • • • ~ ʚĭɞ ~• • • • ~ ʚĭɞ ~ • • • •
i'm on the last trimester of my pregnancy, only two more weeks to my due date. i'm nervous and anxious and scared, sure, but aaron has been so supportive. he's been staying home with me for the past week and will continue doing so till the baby is here. he does go to work when there are emergencies - like special calls, stuff he needs to be there for. which i understand of course, his job is so important. but i'm really glad he can be here for me. it's not easy carrying a child for nine months, alright? but the sight of sweaty, angry aaron whilst struggling to assemble a crib makes it all worth it. "can i help you, honey?" i ask whilst flipping through a baby name book. it's gonna be a baby girl, we found out three months ago at the tiny gender reveal party we hosted together with our family and aaron's team, they are family too. everyone came with gifts, so we didn't really have to buy much for the baby ourselves. not even the crib, dave got us that. i almost jumped up in his arms out of happiness. and now i'm about to jump into aaron's seeing him so sexy assembling it. "no- no, i got it." he exhales, "you found any good names yet?" he asks and grabs his screwdriver. "clementine?" i joke and aaron scrunches his nose, "no, that's too corny." i nod in agreement and flip through more pages. "what about.. priscilla?" aaron freezes and gives me one of those scary profiler looks, "perfect, let's find her an elvis to marry too" he scoffs. i grin and bite my lower lip, "alright, so not priscilla." "halo?" "where are you getting these horrible names from, y/n?" aaron laughs and comes to take a seat next to me, looking over my shoulder into the name book. "horrible? okay then agent, you try." i place the book in his hands and he chuckles, placing a kiss on my cheek then flipping through the pages. "here's a good one," he smiles "genesis." he grins and my mouth parts open.
"help me up, i'm filing for divorce." i tease him and grab his hand to stand up. he laughs, "alright, alright. so not genesis." he grabs me and drags me to sit on his lap. i play with his hair as he continues flipping through the book, "angelina?" aaron mumbles, i nod at first. angelina is cute, it's girly, it's murdery. "that sounds like a serial killers name. next." he scoffs, "seriously? serial killer?" "don't know, you tell me, mr. profiler." "so not angelina." i make a 'hmm' sound, like i'm thinking, when a good name finally pops into my mind, "cora." "hm?" aaron asks and looks at me, closing the book. "cora. what do you think? cora hotchner." i grin and he looks up to the ceiling, like he's trying to convince himself, but then he smiles and nods agreeingly. "cora hotchner," he says, sounding proud. "i love it, honey." his lips touch mine for a brief two seconds. "what about a middle name?" i ask, "i feel like we should give her a middle name, no? you have one, i have one." "sure. but let's do a better job than my parents did." "whaaat? i love yours. benjamin. it fits you." i peck his lips and he shakes his head, "what about grace?" "grace?" i ask. i like it. "grace. means blessing." he places a hand on my round belly, "our little blessing." i smile, "i love when you say goopy stuff." i kiss him and he smiles. "cora grace hotchner." he says like a proud soon-to-be-girldad. "i love it. i love her already. so much." i place my hand on his cheek. "so do i." he looks me in the eyes and his soft gaze melts my heart, "i hope she gets your eyes. if she does, she'll be the most beautiful girl in the entire world. just like her mother." i blush a little as he says that. "i love you, aaron." "i love you too, y/n." he kisses me, then looks down to kiss my stomach, "and you, cora grace."

Headcanon: Kenny reunites with Clementine & AJ after Wellington
Kenny meets Clementine & AJ again
NOTE: This head-canon is based off if you leave Kenny and you go to Wellington.
It’s just a normal day at the Ericson Boarding School. Clementine is in charge and this is her new home, with AJ, of course!
AJ is out fishing for the group.
As AJ is fishing, he sees an old-looking man, with a grown out, grey beard and long hair.
“Hey, what are you doing out here buddy? You seem a little young to be fishing yourself.”
AJ replies to the old man: “I’m just fishing for my group.”
The old man says “Mind if I join you and your group for a night? I haven’t had a hot meal or a good-night’s rest in days.”
“I have to check with Clementine first”, AJ replies.
“CLEMENTINE?!”, the old man’s eyes open wide.
“Yea, Clementine. Do you know her?”, AJ asks.
“Ye-Yeah. Of course I know a Clementine! Wait… you must be.. oh my God! Oh my God, YOU MUST BE AJ!” He stares at AJ, looking at him up to down. “You’ve grown up quite a bit since I last saw you, goofball.”
“Goofball?!” AJ says in surprise and confusion!
“Yea, I’m Kenny. Remember me? I saw you when you were just a little baby when I left you and Clementine at Wellington.”
“I’m sorry sir, I don’t recognize you. But…” AJ thinks to himself. “Clementine has spoken a lot of you and a man named Lee!”
“Take me back to your group, I gotta see Clementine again!” Kenny exclaims.
“Okay, sir!” AJ says, as him and Kenny start walking back to the school.
As AJ and Kenny are talking, AJ says, “Wow.. so you really ARE Kenny! I’ve heard ALL about you from Clementine. I’m sorry I don’t remember you tho.”
“That’s fine! I’m just SO glad to see you, AJ. You have NO idea how happy I am right now!”
A few moments later…
Kenny and AJ arrive at the school.
“Now, where’s Clementine?!” Kenny asks excitedly.
“CLEM!” AJ yells.
“Heya goofball, who did you bring with… – OH MY GOD! KENNY?!”
Clementine uses her crutches as fast as she can and runs over to Kenny.
Clementine starts crying tears of joy as she says, “Kenny... oh my God… Kenny… I thought I’d NEVER see you again after Wellington.”
She runs into Kenny’s arms.
“Hi there, darling. Wow. You’re all grown up now. I’m so proud of you, hun. You have NO idea.”
Kenny looks down at Clementine’s leg.
“What happened to your leg?”
“Walker bit me. AJ saved my life. He cut it off right away so I wouldn’t turn. I owe him my life.”
“Oh, I’m sorry about that darling. I’m glad you’re okay tho.”
“Kenny, stay with us. I don’t EVER want to be separated from you again.”
“I’d love to. And I accept the offer.” Kenny says, crying tears of joy.
They all catch up before dinner and reminisce about Lee, Katjaa, Sarita, and Duck. And Kenny gets his own room in the boarding school.
“I’m safe now... finally.”, Kenny whispers to himself, before drifting off to a peaceful sleep that he hadn’t had in years.

love on tour series // previous part
Los Angeles, California
Day Before Show
It's Sunday, show day tomorrow, and Harry has asked you to raincheck lunch. It didn't come as a surprise knowing he'd be busier as soon as you landed in Los Angeles. You'd be shadowing Alfonso today for a few hours and had wanted to see him for a bit during the day before going back to his small Los Angeles home for the night. At least he called it small compared to his London home. This was quaint and felt cozy, something you had not felt in a long time. There was his room, where you'd both be staying together that had black-out curtains for when he wanted to sleep in. That didn't happen often. His two guestrooms with their own restrooms gave them their own privacy and a room he made his studio. A large backyard with a nice view of hills tucked away from the busy city.
It fit him perfectly, and you were glad he invited you to stay for the week instead of a hotel as the others were doing, besides Elin, who finally got to reunite with her fiance. Also, Mitch and Sarah were happy to be home with their bub, even if it was only for a week. Even better that they happened to live fifteen minutes away from Harry. Something you're sure was on purpose, always lovely to have family close by.
After a successful day of watching scenes being shot, actors, reshooting scenes again and again, and asking endless questions when the time was appropriate, you were wiped. It was a great time. You were excited to go back again, maybe even do a night shoot. But for now, you were ready for dinner with Harry.
He had graciously given you his spare key, promising that his house was your house for your week-long duration. As much as you were looking forward to San Diego, you were also wondering if you'd be able to convince him to go out dancing this week, maybe after one of the shows.
"H, I'm back." You were careful not to call it home as much as you were tempted because one it wasn't, and two California stopped being home many years ago, but Harry was becoming home, and you loved thinking of him as such.
You set your back down in the entryway, setting the keys to the borrowed car in the bowl with handpainted lemons.
"I'm starving," you call out, not concerned when he doesn't answer. "We should order in. I know I promised I'd cook, but tomorrow morning I'll make you the yummiest chilaquiles. You've got the ingredients and eggs." You slip off your sweater throwing it on the back of the couch, making yourself at home. "I was so busy, I didn't have time to eat a good lunch. I had water and the clementine you snuck in my bag. I was thinking of stopping by for food before arriving, but I was thinking of this new script Viola sent. Then Naomi called, and we started planning gifts for Christmas, so we don't happen to gift something twice. Oh, we can ord-" You cut yourself off seeing Harry in the kitchen not alone as you assumed he would be.
You're shocked; there in front of you is Harry's mother, matching grins on both their faces.
Harry and his mother are staring at you. Food is out on the large counter as she stands from the stool she was just sitting on.
"Y/N, this is my mum Anne," he says with a smile you hadn't seen before. It's clear it was reserved just for her, his mother. If you think about it long, it'll move you to tears, so instead, you grin. "Mum, this is Y/N or well, Bel. A proper introduction not through a computer."
Harry reminds you of when you surprised him with his family on a big call in Raleigh, North Carolina. And now, now you are finally meeting his mother in person. A moment, he has been waiting a long time for.
"Hi, Mrs. Twist. It's great to finally meet you in person. I'd have gotten you flowers if I knew you were coming." You shoot Harry a quick glare; he just laughs you off, offering you a kiss on your cheek as hello.
"Don't you worry, darling, this one likes surprises." Anne laughs, pointing her finger at her son. "It's wonderful to meet you. Oh, and call me Anne, please."
You nod and step towards her offering her a big smile, "I'm Y/N Belmonte, Bel if you wish. A pleasure to meet you."
Anne looks over at Harry with a proud grin on her face. "Hello darling, I'm Anne, this boy's mother."
You both greet each other as if Harry didn't just make introductions. You and Anne stare at each other for a second, and then her arms are around you in a tight hug. It's nice, a feeling you haven't felt in a long time. The type of hold that grounds you and assures you that you'll be okay.
A few seconds later, there's added pressure on your back, and Harry is giggling in your ear, giddy that his two favorite people are together.
"I'm just so happy," he whispers for you both to hear.
And you were as well, the happiest you've been in a long time.
After having dinner with Anne, which was terrific, Harry had ordered Thai for a place he always frequents when in the city. He claimed it had the best pad thai, and he did not disappoint. There was lots of chatter over dinner, talking about the tour and how everyone was doing. Anne shared how her flight was and how everyone else was doing back home.
As dinner progressed, she began sharing stories of young Harry, who loved being the center of attention as well as constantly starting arguments with his sister. It was nice getting to hear these stories from Anne, but something profound inside of you hurt knowing that Harry will never get to listen to these types of stories from your family. He won't get to hear it from the person who got to experience it and see you grow to the person you have become.
You sigh, glad to be in charge of dish duty as Harry and Anne take time to converse to themselves. You're finishing up the last few plates when Harry walks in, taking the drying towel from your hand finishing off the last two dishes for you.
"Thank you."
Harry reaches for your now dried hand and holds it tight. "Thank you, I know I just sprung my mum on you. I was excited."
"No, nothing to apologize. It was nice, you had told me that your mum would be coming soon. I'm glad to meet her."
He sighs, relieved, "you're an angel."
You giggle, "you've got to let her tell me all kinds of stories."
"Bel," he pouts. You bat your eyes at him, flashing him a small smile, one he's never said not to. He lets out a deep sigh, "fine."
"Wonderful," you lean in and peck his lips, careful not to linger.
"Another."
You laugh, pushing him away, "don't think so, rockstar."
"That's not fair."
As you're about to respond, you hear a knock on the front door. Harry freezes, moving away from you, not expecting anyone. Jeff assured him he'd be busy with Glenne and visiting his family to see him today, so it couldn't be good.
Harry walks out of the kitchen, and you follow behind your hand on the small of his back as you both watch his mother open the door, and who greets her is a stressed Jeff.
Jeff brings Anne in for a hug before she welcomes him in.
"Jeff, what a surprise." Harry's worried, and you hate to think something could be wrong.
"Harry, hi, Bel."
"Hey, Jeff."
"It's great seeing you, Jeff. You look wonderful," Anne comments.
"Very kind of you. Missed having you around."
She pats his shoulder, "kind of you to say."
Everyone falls silent for a moment as you wait for Jeff to address the reason he's here at five in the afternoon when he promised Harry a free day.
"Anne, as lovely as it is to see you, I urgently need to speak with them both."
By the tone of his voice, you can't help but tense up.
"Is everything alright?" She asks, clearly worried.
"Promise it's fine, just something they need to decide on."
Harry shoots his mother an assuring smile, "we'll watch a movie after, or you can tell Bel more embarrassing stories."
"Please, I have so many questions about H growing up." You offer, hoping that'd be enough to give you just a bit of space.
Anne backs down, "okay, and we'll have tea."
"Yes, I'll come get you." Harry kisses her cheek.
Harry watches her go up the stairs before taking your hand and guiding you to the couch, knowing Jeff will follow. Sitting down and facing Jeff, you honestly weren't sure what to expect, Harry had your linked hands resting on your lap, but you could feel his knee bouncing.
"What's wrong?" Harry finally dares to ask.
Jeff takes a look at both of you and frowns, beginning to pace back and forth in front of you.
"There's an article that's going to print, and I can't stop it."
"Okay," Harry urges him to keep going.
You sigh, gripping his hand tighter, knowing this can't be good.
"Spit it out, Jeff."
"The article is about you both. A worker from MSG got paid and did an interview. Shared about how Bel was there at all the shows."
Harry shrugs, "everyone knows. She didn't hide it."
"The worker said they have proof of your relationship."
There it is. The one thing he was holding back.
You can't believe someone would do this, you know Harry had NDA's, but you pressured him to be more lenient than it wasn't necessary; you'd never been so wrong.
"What kind of proof?" You question.
"Photos, all mainly blurry. There are some of you taking photos of Harry. A few where you are hugging." He hesitates before continuing, "you're kissing in one."
"Can you tell it's me?"
He nods, "very clearly in one."
You lean back against the couch, letting this weigh you down, "well fuck."
Harry exhales, leaning towards you to kiss your temple, helping to keep you calm.
"What do we do?" Harry asks Jeff.
"Nothing," you respond.
Harry frowns, "Bel, no."
"Why not, let them run it. They've got no statements."
It would be pointless to do anything if nothing stops it.
"And then what," Jeff rebuttals, clearly not liking your idea.
You shrug, "we ignore it, don't confirm it."
"No," Jeff answers firmly.
"Bel," Harry starts. "That's not the best idea."
You turn away from Jeff and lean closer to Harry. You take one look at him and know he's overwhelmed, but you have to work through this. "Do you want to, Harry? Is this how you wanted us to come out? By some workers and not by us on our own terms. You want to post an Instagram story that we're dating."
Harry stays silent. His eyes locked on yours until he's had enough and turned away.
"Unbelievable," you breathe out.
You get up from the couch, shooting Harry one last look before walking to the stairs needing to get away from them–from him.
One foot on the bottom of the stairs, and you turn to look at them.
"Release a statement. Post an Instagram. Send a tweet for all I care but just know me and my team will stay quiet." Your voice is firm and cold, letting them know you won't be moved.
And with that, you make your way up the stairs.
Harry waits for a door to slam shut, but it never comes. He hates that he made you upset, but this isn't something he knows how to deal with, especially with someone of your fame. He seems to forget how much more popular you are than him, how this can affect you and not just him.
"We need her on board," Harry's voice was soft as he realized he didn't speak up when he was meant to.
"No, we don't," Jeff tries to argue.
"I'm not releasing without her consent."
"She gave it to you."
Harry scoffs, standing up, needing to remove some of this sadness, "that's not what she said."
"Now you want to stand by her," Jeff's voice was full of sarcasm.
"Fuck off, Jeff." Harry needs to go find Bel. "See your wait out, won't you. We'll talk later."
Harry had just reached the top step when he saw his mum walking down the hall, offering him a warm smile. He knows this smile. It's one she'd do when he had a bad day, and she wasn't sure how to fix it for him, but that smile was enough to assure him he'd be okay.
"Why don't you give her a minute," she offers, both knowing she is talking about Bel.
"Mum, you don't—"
She cuts him off voice, firm, "I said let her be, Harry."
Harry lets his shoulders drop, backing down. "Did you talk to her?"
"No, but she's upset, and you're heated."
"I'm not." He denies.
His mum points down to his hands which are fisted tight, his knuckles white, and only then does he relax. "Maybe I am."
"Do you want to chat? You were so happy all day and during dinner."
Harry accepts feeling dejected for how he treated Bel. His mum guides him to her room of the week. He lays himself on the bed, wanting to drown in the pillows, but it'd be best to talk it all out.
"I'll go make tea. Give you a moment to gather your thoughts."
Harry doesn't answer her, but he hopes she knows how much he appreciates her.
He's not sure how long his mum took, but soon she's walking with a tray in hand, small biscuits, and two cups of tea. Harry sits up, leaning against the bed, making room for his mother to join him.
She holds her cup tight as she settles next to him, waiting for him to begin talking. There's no pressure to start, and he's thankful. Harry had never been one to talk about his feelings, but it came easy with his mum, and he realized Bel as well.
"There's an article dropping." He pauses. "About Bel and me." Anne rubs his shoulder encouragingly, "And well, she didn't want to address it."
"Can you tell it's her?"
"Not sure, Jeff said only in one photo."
"Can you stop the article?"
"No."
Anne squeezes his shoulder, making him turn his head to look at her, "What can you do?"
"Ignore it or address it."
"What do you want to do?"
"Jeff says to address it." He shrugs as it means nothing.
"Is this what you want?"
"No," he quickly answers. "I–I honestly."
"What is it, darling?"
"I just want her. Just want Bel."
"Then why don't you show her."
"Because she's Bel," he exclaims. Harry sets his cup down and stands up. He runs a hand through his hair, and it reminds him of how Bel plays with his hair before showtime even though they know Ayae worked hard to get him ready. It's something he looks forward to because it calms his nerves, even for a moment. "She's Y/N Belmonte, the most sought out actress. Won an Emmy at 23, the youngest to do so. Predicted to win an Oscar this coming year. She has films lined up, and an endless number of people want to work with her. And I love her."
Harry's glad to get it all out. His thoughts just spilling out.
His mum frowns, "do you love her or the idea of her?"
Harry is shocked at her question. He's not sure how she could ask that. Was it not clear how he felt?
"Mum, how could you?"
"Well, Harry, all you did was list her accomplishments." Harry takes a moment to think about what she said. Did he really? "If I asked her, do you think she'd name any of your accomplishments?"
Harry thinks about it, and he knows the type of person Bel is. "No, she wouldn't."
"Then why did you tie your love to that?"
"But Jeff–"
"–Is your manager. Yes, he's a friend but also looks after your image and career." Harry nods. "You take care of Harry, my boy. Not the rockstar that left home. What does he want?"
"I want to take care of this relationship. Nourish it, make it flourish. It might be too soon to say, but Bel is it for me. I feel it."
Anne grins, happy to hear that his son puts his feelings first instead of his career.
"Then you've got to show her you're choosing her and not the media."
Right, it's time to talk to Bel.
Harry takes a deep breath before raising his fist to knock on his bedroom door, ready to talk to Bel. A few seconds go by with no answer, and he tries again.
Still nothing.
"Darling, can we talk?"
He moves his hand down and twists the door open, expecting to see her on the bed or sitting on the window sill bench he purchased when he saw the view, imagining he'd spend his day there reading. Bel had made that her spot expressing how much she enjoyed it, yet she was not there.
The room was empty of her presence, and if it weren't for her small carry-on, he would have believed Bel left.
Harry checks the guest room, and it's empty. He rushes down the stairs and finds his mum on the sofa reading a book, "Mum, did you see Bel?"
"Saw her walk into your room."
He shakes his head, "not there."
"Guest room?"
"Empty."
"No," he stops. "I think she left."
Anne sits up straight, "is her stuff gone."
"Just her purse."
"Maybe a drive?"
Harry moves toward the entrance and finds the keys with the 'Love on tour' key chain she insisted on adding, wanting to make it a little more hers for the week.
"No, they are right here." He raises them up to show his mother.
"Did you try calling her yet?"
Well, he feels silly he didn't do that.
Harry brings up his phone going to favorites, and she's the first one on his 'favorites.' It rings once, then twice, and a third time before he hears something buzzing and walks toward the kitchen. There, by the sink, is your phone.
"Fuck."
He didn't even hear his mum follow behind him. "She's going to be fine."
"I know, but she's upset because I messed up. And I'm not even sure how long she's been gone. It's dark out."
"Didn't she grow up in California?" He nods," then trust she'll be okay."
It's probably around five minutes when he hears a car pull up, and in a few seconds, he rushes out the front door.
You get out slowly, opening the car door and leaning against it as you continue your conversation with the driver. Harry steps closer, going down the steps, and sees it's Sarah.
Sarah spots him and rolls down her window, waving at him.
"Hi, Sarah."
"Hello, H."
"How's Mitch and the Bub?"
"Bonding those two. Swear he's going to hold a guitar soon," she teases.
Harry laughs, "wouldn't put it past him to do so."
"Or you," you chirp, sending him a small smile, and he knows you'll be okay.
Harry nods and giggles with you. "Soon enough."
"Sorry I kept her so long, we were having tea, and then I didn't want her to walk back."
"And I appreciate it." You answer and shut the car door, and move to stand next to Harry.
"What are friends for?"
"See you tomorrow, Sarah. Bright and early."
"Sure thing, boss. Goodnight."
You both watch her drive away, and as soon as the gates shut, you don't wait another second and walk inside, spotting Anne by the entrance blanket wrapped around herself.
"Hi, Anne."
"Hello darling, nice time out."
"Yes, not so chilly. Nice enough to leave without a coat."
She laughs, "not at night." She gestures to the blanket wrapped around her. "But not as cold as home."
"Oh, I hope you get some snow this holiday season. It's always so nice."
"You grew up there as well, didn't you?"
"Up until I was eight."
"Do you visit often?"
You shrug, "when I can. Don't have family there, but I'm thinking of looking for a place. You know, set some roots down for myself."
"Well, that's wonderful for you, dear. If you ever need something when you're there, don't hesitate to call."
You can't help yourself and pull her in for a quick hug, "I appreciate that, Anne."
"I hope it's okay if you excuse us, we…we need to talk."
She nods, "go ahead. Maybe we can watch a movie after."
Harry interrupts, "we'll see, mum. Be down in a bit."
You follow Harry up the steps and let him lead you to the bed; nervous for the talk, you honestly aren't sure what he agreed with Jeff. You know you have no right to stop him from doing what he wants, but do want him to see where you're coming from.
Harry sways in front of you, unsure if he should take the seat beside you.
You pat the spot next to you, not being able to take his nerves. You're silent, wanting him to lead the conversation. There isn't anything you should be apologizing for, maybe except for the fact you didn't tell him you left.
"I'm sorry." Harry sighs, letting his shoulders drop. "It was just a lot."
"It was intense, that's for sure."
"I'm sorry for not supporting you."
And that's when you can't help the frown; how did he not realize. "That's not…."
"What?" He's confused.
"I'm upset–do you know why I'm upset?"
"Because I didn't side with you."
You laugh bitterly, shaking your head. "I'm upset because you easily give away your power."
"I do not," he defends.
"You do or did what Jeff says was right. You didn't even let yourself think about it before asking Jeff for a solution." You stand up, feeling all this pent-up emotion trying to be released, but you take a deep breath wanting to get this conversation done with Harry understanding. "I decide. I decide what is right for me. Sure, Viola has her say, and her opinion is taken into consideration, but each decision is mine to make. Why? Because it's my life being displayed to everyone, not hers or anyone else's mine."
Harry is frozen, sitting there looking at his hands, and nods letting you know he's listening but won't look at you.
"Do you realize that?"
"I know it's my choice," he says, finally looking up to meet your eye.
"Then act like it. Stand up for what you want." He stays silent, and you move to sit on the floor in front of him. You rest your chin on his thigh and hold eye contact, needing him to understand that his voice matters even if he may have forgotten that. "So, what do you want?" You whisper, "do you want to declare our love and share it with the world? I just need to know what you're thinking so we can work through it."
"I–I want…." Harry's getting sweaty and knows he needs space; he needs to move. "I need some air."
You move away from him, and he steps past you, but instead of going down the stairs, he makes a right to the attic. You let him walk away, feeling you might have pushed too much. You also saw the look in his eyes and know he's feeling overwhelmed, so you followed him, not wanting him to have a panic attack alone.
The attic he's told you about is his painting room. Where he goes to destress and hide from the world, getting lost in art, he can have complete control off. You walk in and find him sitting by the window, and it's thrown wide open as he sits down right in front of it.
You move slowly to make him aware of your presence to give him the chance to send you away, but it doesn't happen. You sit down next to him and relax as you hear him taking in deep breaths. You follow with him, letting out the heaviness you've been carrying for the last few hours.
The air is refreshing, and it instantly clears your head. You swear if you close your eyes and try hard enough, you're able to smell the ocean. You're not aware of how much time passes when Harry grabs your hand holding on tight.
"I want you, Bel. I want to love you. I don't want to love you just behind closed doors, but I also don't want it on every newsstand."
You bring up your intertwined hands to your lips and give him a few gentle kisses.
"I love you, Harry. We gotta get through it together."
"What do you want, Bel?"
You sigh, smiling at him, "I want to keep and love you forever. I don't want to make a statement ever if I can help it."
"You don't want to say you're dating me?"
You shake your head, "trust me, it's not that. I just don't see myself posting something saying, oh, Harry and I have been dating for three months, if you were wondering. Bye."
"It's odd," he giggles.
"Yes, it is."
"So we let the article run." He states, and you agree.
You lean against him, seeking a bit of his warmth.
"Bel?"
"Hmm."
"Do you see yourself with me in public?"
You snuggle in closer to him, "'course. I'll bring you to a premiere or to set next year. Maybe you'll take me to your red carpet events next year, seeing as you've got two movies premiering."
"No."
You gasp, "no?"
He pokes your side at your sarcasm, "yes, but if we do red carpets, we'll have to do one for you first where I'm your plus one. Have to be the supportive boyfriend."
"What if you're across the world on some stage?"
"I'll crawl my way to you. I swear it." He confesses.
"Okay."
"Okay?"
"Next year, I'll bring you to an event and hold your hand and pose with you as I avoid all interviews."
"Bel," he chastised.
You giggle against his chest, "what? Let me have fun with it."
"Alright, my love."
"I love you, mi amor."
"I love you, Bel."
"You do realize we have one more person to speak with."
Harry squeezes you tight, "we'll do it together."
It's late, and you're back to sitting down where you were earlier. The difference is now you feel calm and assured, not like before where you felt sad and lost. Now you're with Harry about to talk to Jeff at nine at night because tomorrow is a big day.
Jeff looks agitated, seeing that you're still defensive and have Harry's support by the looks of it.
"Bel, it'd be better to address." Jeff tries knowing if he gets you to budge, so will Harry.
"For who…for us or your job."
Jeff falls silent at your words and looks over at Harry, hoping he will side with him.
Not this time.
"No, Jeff." Harry's voice is strong.
You squeeze Harry's hand, assuring him you got this. "The choice is ours, is it not?"
Jeff sighs, "yes."
Harry looks at Jeff, and you see them have a silent conversation that comes from years of knowing each other, "I don't want to confirm. I've never done it before, and I won't start now."
"I can't stop this, Harry. You'll be talked about endlessly," Jeff tries to explain.
Harry nods, "we know, but this is ours. As in mine and Bel's. You have a private life with your wife, so why can't I have the same?"
Jeff lets his shoulders drop, and you know he finally understands. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Bel, I just wanted to get ahead of it, but if you're sure, we'll leave it alone."
"We are."
"Then okay, we're done." He sits down, taking a drink of the tea Anne was kind enough to bring to you all. "Is Viola aware?"
"She is. We spoke earlier."
Jeff nods, sitting back, obviously not used to not sitting around when something needs to be fixed.
"Look, Harry is releasing 'Pleasing' tomorrow. No worries, all the attention will go there as well. Also, it is a show day," you try to offer, finding something positive.
Harry assures Jeff it'll die down. There is enough dropping to have them lose their minds and not focus on the article.
Jeff shakes his head, "you too. I can't."
"'Pleasing' will take them by storm." You grin, thinking about the collection Harry showed you and all his hard work.
"You can't post, Bel."
You frown, "why not?"
"The article will be up."
"Nope," you shake your head. "Can't stop me. We're besties, and besties support new endeavors."
"Bel," Jeff begins, but you interrupt him once more.
"Look how nice my nails look. Harry did them last night. How can you not want me to share? He even added a little heart." You pout, looking at him and then to Harry, who grins at you, leaning in to kiss your cheek, then nodding, giving you the okay.
Jeff knows he lost you, "fine, whatever. I'll take care of the rest."
He walks away, leaving you and Harry alone. You finally relaxed, glad to have gotten through the conversation.
"We'll get through it together," Harry promises.
"Together."
Harry leans down, pressing your lips together, assuring you that together you could get through anything. You enjoy the last moments of peace together, knowing the day will be anything but come tomorrow.
San Diego, California
"Why did we head here so early?" You're lugging behind as Harry pulls you along; you'd stop walking altogether if he wasn't holding your hand.
"Cause of traffic."
"Ugh, can we nap?"
Harry guides you into the dressing room, pushing you gently to sit on the couch, but you just let your body fall down to rest. He chuckles, not used to seeing you so sleepy.
"Stop laughing, Styles. This is your fault," you grumble.
He gasps, "my fault. Now, my dear, that is a strong accusation."
"Someone insisted on makeup sex."
Harry smirks last night after Jeff left and they watched a film with his mother. They retired to bed and got in the shower, where Harry got down on his knees to show her how sorry he was. Then got her in bed only to make love to her until their argument became something of the past.
"You weren't telling me to stop last night," he teases.
"I'm regretting it now."
Harry rushes to your side, "take that back, sunshine." You act like you don't hear him, eyes closed, trying to fall asleep, "Bel, you are not sleeping until you take it back. You're breaking my heart."
You slowly peek one eye open and find him staring at you, a sullen look on his face. "Hi."
"Darling?"
"I'm sorry, mi vida. Only kidding." You whisper against his lips.
"That's what I like to hear."
His soft lips meet yours. He moves slowly with you and your delayed reactions. You're tired, but never to ask him to stop kissing you.
"You can sleep for a bit, okay. I'll come to wake you up." He brushes your hair back, helping you settle back down.
"Okay, love you." You whisper, finally letting sleep take over you again.
You wake a while later to your phone ringing and Harry sitting at the end of the couch. He sees you starting to stir and rubs your legs that rest in his lap, "hi, sleepy girl."
"H?"
"Yeah, baby?"
"Missed you," you mumble, trying to brush the sleep away.
"You missed me? I was right here."
You sit up, pulling your legs close before shuffling over to fall against Harry, looking up at him as he sets his phone done.
"Hiya angel."
"Did it launch? Did I miss it?" You pout at the thought of you sleeping through it.
"Sorry, darling. Didn't want to wake you."
You sulk, "sorry, H."
"No need to apologize. Here can read the article." He hands you his phone where the first thing you see is 'Dazed' in bold letters, and Harry sitting on a motorcycle in purple leather pants and a cut-up black shirt displaying all of his tattoos.
"Harry, what the fuck!"
He laughs, "that bad?"
"That good! What is this?" You scroll down, open up the images, deciding to read the article after.
Each photo is better than the last. He's in extravagant outfits from Gucci to Balenciaga. You stop on the tenth image, taking in Harry wearing a corset, a knitted jumper, and cotton shorts. Your eyes linger on the tights and how they show his defined legs.
"Oh my god," you stand up, placing a hand over your heart, never tearing your eyes away from the phone.
Harry is laughing, enjoying your reactions.
You fall to the floor dramatically, placing the phone over your heart as you take a moment to take it all in.
"Bel?" Harry checks in.
You turn the phone staring at one of the photos intently as if trying to spot why it looks so different from the rest.
"What, baby?"
"You look a little edited."
"Stop!" He chuckles, not believing you.
"Sorry, sorry. Moving on." You keep looking through them, taking it all in, and you know how much fun this shoot must have been. "I need like 2-3 business days to process this."
"Yeah, like it that much?"
"Yes, you look so pretty."
"Thank you, lovie."
"It's lovely," you move to sit in his lap. "My boyfriend is dominating the world, and I can die happy being his groupie."
"Oh, now you want to," he teases.
"Amor, of course." you raise your hand, running a hand through his hair, he's due for a haircut, and you're excited about it. "It has the best perks."
Harry raises an eyebrow, "such as."
You take a second to think. You run a finger down his cheek and over his lips. "Seeing you on stage and your eyes on me at all times. The best food all the time that you never let me pay for. And well, this friend," you bring your hand down to brush over the obvious tent in his pants.
"Sounds like a good time," he smirks.
"The best time," you assure him.
"I'm open to showing you a good time now." He offers, and god, you could never deny him, not when he's offering.
"Right now?"
"Mhmm…"
You nod, and that's all he needs before his lips are on yours, his tongue thrusting into your hot and waiting mouth, drawing the moans that are already dying to be released. He reached down and grabbed your ass, gripping it so firmly you could feel the outline of every finger through your denim shorts. A groan escaped you as you moved over Harry's lap, rocking back and forth.
You loved it when he touched you. It was hot, the way he planted his hands on you like he owned you. It was as if he was claiming a prize, you.
A deep throbbing ache grew between your thighs, and you knew it would not be satisfied until Harry touched you. There was nothing better for the cure than an orgasm. You wanted him to give it to you, but with his tongue moving in your mouth and his hands tightly gripping you, you didn't care letting him have his way with you, never wanting his mouth to part from yours.
"So good, amor," you breathed.
Your voice was all but a whisper; you could tell from the hungry way Harry kissed your neck and the deep groan that ripped through him that you had got the message across. His lips were tender as they traveled down your neck, but they're anything but passive. He pressed them against your soft flesh with determination and authority, sending heat through you from every place they came in contact with.
"Nobody touches me like you, H," you whimpered, only barely in control of the words you were saying. "Nobody makes me feel like you do."
In between kisses that were now traveling down your chest, he stopped and growled, "Good. No one else ever will."
He pulled back slightly and ran his hand up your body. He cupped your breast through your thin tank top and used his thumb and forefinger to capture your nipple, hard and poking out through the fabric before tugging it down.
"You make me crazy, baby."
Even though all the please, a small smile touched your lips at his confessions. The tone he used let you know he was barely holding himself together, close to losing all control, just like you.
You began to grind your hips against his thighs, the heat penetrating straight through your shorts. It wasn't as good as a finger, but it gave you what you needed in all the right spots. Harry's lips and tongue were all over the bare flesh of your chest as he cupped your breast and teased your nippled with his fingers until it reached the point where pleasure verged on pain.
"Harry," you moaned.
It was heaven, his touch. You rubbed against his moving slowly as you tangled your fingers in his hair and held on to his twitching shoulders. You were ready for more, and so was Harry, it seemed as he slid his hand around the front of your shorts, undid the button and slid his fingers down inside your panties, and started to rub.
There was nothing better than Harry's touch. It was so good against her skin. It was a reminder of each gentle touch that he loved you.
"Enough," you panted, knowing there was the chance to be interrupted–caught, and you needed him, now."
"Baby, too much?" He asked, checking in.
You shook your head, "need you. Need you inside me."
Harry held your gaze, and you could see the desire flowing through him; you're sure a similar look was evident on your face.
"Alright, baby. I'll give you what you need."
Harry shifted you off his lap and laid you on the couch; he quickly hovered over you, helping to slip off your shorts and panties. He was quick to discard his clothing. You burst out laughing as Harry got stuck in his sweater, not being able to get his head out.
"You good?" You giggle as you reach up to yank it out with one quick pull.
He lets out a deep breath, shoulders dropping, "my ego is bruised."
"Well, I still think you look hot. Does that help?"
Harry smirks, "tremendously."
He shimmies out of his pants much easier to his relief. He slips on the condom so quickly you don't have a chance to ask him where he had it hidden.
"We didn't lock the door," you voice quietly.
"Then you're just going to have to be quiet. Be my good girl." Harry brushes your hair back as you whimper, nodding yes.
Harry grips himself, lining up in your center. You feel how wet you are and know you're ready.
Fuck, you need him in you.
"Please, H. Please," you beg.
"Shh… it's alright, baby. I got you."
In one swift motion, he slips inside of you, and it's overwhelming. He consumes you, all of him, as you allow yourself to get lost in the feeling. His weight settling on you is comforting.
"Good, baby?"
You hum, eyes closed, head thrown back. "Perfect, more, give me more."
Harry chuckles, "needy, baby."
Harry moves, and you gasp, feeling him deep inside of you. As soon as he starts, there is no stopping him. You move your hands up his back, making him lean down and guide him to you. You bring your lips together; it's messy and fast but fulfilling. You keep him close, knowing kissing him will keep your noise down as he thrusts in you.
His movements are paced as he goes in and out of you at his own pace. He's quick, and you know he's close. You feel him bite your lip as he holds on waiting for you.
"Need you to come, angel. Come for me." He whispers against your lips."
You moan, and he snakes down his hand over your clit to bring you to your orgasm. He gives you the right amount of pressure, moving quickly inside you, still chasing his release. Lips still moving against each other, you bite down on his bottom lip as he speeds up his fingers.
In a second, you're overwhelmed with emotion. Pleasure burns through you as you settle, letting out a deep breath against Harry's soft lips. Harry thrusts two more times before he groans, your name falling on top of you, no longer able to hold his weight.
"Baby, you alright?"
You hum, not able to answer.
"Too fucked out."
You raise your hand and trace a finger over his lips, "filthy mouth."
Harry playfully nips at your fingertip, "you like it."
"Love it," you confirm."
"Love you."
You blink your eyes open to see his chin resting on your face looking at you with a half-smile, "I love you."
"Come on, got to get you dressed. Got a long day ahead of us."
You sign, knowing he's right. "One more minute."
Your arms are tight around him, and you know he's going to give in. He laughs, "just one."
And that's enough for you.
Anne had wanted to do a bit of sightseeing, and you cheerfully agreed to go with her wanting to get to know her better. Makeup from last night hating that her first night was ruined by a fight. Her joy at spending the day with you, you assumed the feeling was mutual.
You had decided it would be nice to walk down by the ocean, so you took Anne to Ocean Beach that is only ten minutes from the arena. Harry let you borrow his car, promising he'd be fine all alone in an empty arena. Anne hushed him up for being dramatic, promising to bring something back for him.
Having parked right by the ocean, there was a pier to walk along as well as small shopping stores. Anne wanted to walk on the sand, quickly slipping off her sandals. You follow right behind her, taking off your floral yellow slip-on Vans, hurrying to walk beside her.
Anne has a lovely hat to protect her from the sun, while you went for just some sunnies. She had been worried you might be spotted, but you assured her you'd be fine. People tended to overlook you easily, which Harry interrupted, saying that was a lie.
You promised her you'd be safe, and if she liked, you could stay back. That had Anne softening, knowing you'd be okay with her.
After a few hours in the sun, you decide that's enough and head back with Anne knowing she'd love to see Harry's soundcheck. You visited various shops and dipped your feet in the ocean for a bit. It was cold but was enjoyable better than the heat.
"Enjoying the heat, are you?" You asked Anne as you drove back with the windows down.
Anne nods, "it's lovely. Not like at home where it's just a bit too cold."
"Yeah, I agree. How long are you here?"
"Oh, the week. I enjoy Los Angeles and then get home to my kitties. Gemma will be joining him in New York for the final week."
"Will she?"
"He didn't mention it."
"No, maybe another surprise," you laugh. "He's thrilled you're here."
Anne grins, squeezing your arm, "I am too. I've missed him."
"Is it hard?" You ask her. "Missing him."
Arriving rather quickly, you park the car right by the tour buses. Exiting with her as she carries on the conversation.
Anne smiles fondly, lost in thought, "I love him. He's made such an impact, but now I see him live through photos and videos. And it's hard. I miss him. He's my baby boy. I'm sure your parents feel the same."
You grimace, and Anne instantly picks up on it.
"Oh dear, I'm sorry."
You force a smile and shrug, "I figured Harry told you."
"As much as my boy loves to talk about you, and trust me he does. He respects your privacy just as much."
You grin, appreciating her kind words.
Walking in together, a security member walks you both to the stage where you sit together on chairs that were kindly brought out to you by the staff. Anne watches Harry with a proud smile, but she also holds your hand, encouraging you that it's okay to speak with her and not if you don't feel like it.
You admire her kindness, so you tell her your story, the same story you told Harry the first night in St. Paul. How you lost your parents and were raised by your grandparents only to lose them as well. You told her about the people around you supporting you and how you couldn't have done it without them. The whole time she holds you tight as Harry rehearses for tonight. By the time you're finished, there are tears in both your eyes as she hugs you. Anne does her best to comfort you, but you need a moment.
Excusing yourself for a moment needing time to gather your thoughts. It's never easy sharing the story, but you also feel overwhelmed having just trauma dumped on Harry's mother, who was here for her son, not for your sob story. You cry, letting yourself get it out before going back and acting like you didn't just act like a fool. You found a hidden corner and just sat there to cry.
As you sat there, you realized that telling the story didn't feel as heavy; if anything, it was easier. The reason, because you may not have had a blood family, but you created one. One that treats you with so much love and care. That you have so many people in your corner supporting you.
Sitting there alone, you're not sure how much time has passed when your phone rings.
"Hello," you whisper.
"Love, where'd you go?"
"Needed a moment," you answer honestly.
"You still here?"
"I am. Where would I go?"
"Don't know, sol. You still got my car keys," he teases.
He manages to get a laugh out of you, "funny, lover." You rest your head against the wall. "I'm fine. Tell your mum I'm fine."
"Bel," he scolds.
"Seriously, Harry, I promise I'm good."
"I'm going to find you."
You look around you and see nothing and know he has no chance. "I doubt it."
"Are you challenging me, my love?"
"H, I'm fine. It's been a while, and I guess speaking with mothers is hard. I feel like I latch on, and I'd hate for your mum to feel suffocated by me." You're glad to be speaking the truth. Nothing in you wants to lie to Harry.
"Oh, my angel. You could never."
"You don't know that."
"But I do. She thinks the world of you already how sweet and kind you are. How you love me and aren't afraid to say it." He pauses, and all you hear is your's and his breathing. "You love me, and that's enough."
"Harry?"
"Yes, lovie?"
"I do love you," you remind him.
"I know. I love you."
"Okay,"
"Now, love, I'm going to you, and you're going to let me hold you and kiss you and take care of you."
You cave in, "yes, mi amor."
Harry finds you ten minutes later, tears dried and you dive into his arms, fresh new tears falling. Relieved to know you have him loving you and supporting you. That you don't have to go through life alone carrying all this baggage because he's right there beside you, helping you along.
You enjoyed watching the show with Anne. She danced to every song and cheered for him louder than anyone else. You might not have gotten as many private moments, something that Harry promised you he'd make up to you.
Honestly, he missed your kisses, and you didn't blame him. You missed him as well. He was used to showering you in kisses, a constant hold on you. You both were respectful around his mother, kissing each other's cheek and holding hands, the occasional kiss on his lips but nothing more.
Harry looked beautiful, you may say it all the time, but it's true. Tonight he is wearing a seafoam printed shirt with matching suspenders, powder blue wide-leg trousers, and black leather boots. Gucci never seems to fail him and the uniform. You had a sneak at the last few outfits remaining, and you're honestly excited to see them. He expresses himself so much through his clothes, and Harry never forgets that his fans do the same because of him.
After Harry found you, he brought you back to his mother, who showered you in affection, something you hadn't been privileged to since the last time you visited Naomi's parents. She assured you that you could count on her whenever you needed someone and jokingly added even when Harry was getting on your nerves, something Harry made her take back.
During the entire show, Harry made sure to check in on you both, smiling and sending waves, getting you both to laugh. You're sure the fans picked up on, seeing as a lot more turned their cameras on you today. You pay them no mind. It's during the fifteen minutes of endless dancing that you spot more people turned to look at you. Jeff shifts to stand in front of you and Anne, but it's no use.
You tap his shoulder, causing him to turn only his head. "It's home turf," you joke.
He laughs, shaking his head before letting himself be pulled into your crazy dance circle as Anne dragged as much of the crew available. Like clockwork, as soon as Harry finishes his thank you speech and the opening notes to 'Fine Line' begin, so do your tears. The song is no less emotional even after the number of times you've heard it live. Anne pulls you into a hug, swaying you gently as you get lost in Harry's voice.
You take a moment after Harry disappears to gather yourself and thank Anne. 'Sign of the Times' seems to be Anne's weakness because she clasps her hands in front of her, singing loudly as she watches her youngest sing to a crowd of thousands. Jeff hugs her, and you know it's a special moment for them. You can't help but capture a photo.
You're lost in the moment, looking up at Harry, who's currently facing away from you when there's a tug on your hand. You look down before meeting Anne's tearful eyes, who brings you into the hug.
It's a beautiful moment and one you'll always appreciate. Anne has made you feel so included and loved. You're just her son's girlfriend, but she really welcomed you in with open arms.
This might be your favorite show yet.
Harry and you relax in the dressing room, chatting with the band as the arena empties. Everyone is talking, sharing stories and posters they noticed.
Jeff walks in a serious look causing everyone to quiet down.
"Everything alright?" Harry asks, preparing for the worst.
"Everyone online is losing it."
"When are they not," Mitch answers.
And well, he's not wrong.
Harry and you had avoided social media all day, knowing it'd be insane. Jeff continues to tell you all how all media outlets are losing it over Anne and Bel. No longer are Harry and Bel trending since five am this morning; now, there are endless clips of him onstage and of you dancing and singing with Anne.
The tweets read about rumors of his mother being in town, but no one was aware you'd be there as well. Almost all the tweets discussed you and Anne being best friends.
"Damn, Harry, you're easily replaced."
"Oh shut it, Mitchell."
"Still your best friend, Bel?" He whispers, his lips pressed against your neck. You giggle, feeling his breath against you but nod, reassuring him his spot is safe.
Everyone laughs, seeing how easily you got him to call down. Harry is so sweet and just craves love and affection, something you're always eager to give him.
"Let's play a game," Jeff suggests. Sarah is intrigued and asks him to go on. "Find the best tweets and read them out."
"This is going to be painful," Harry mourns, hiding his face deeper in your neck, not wanting to participate.
"Just throw them out there, please."
In a matter of seconds, everyone is on their phone going under their shared hashtag.
Sarah leans over from behind the couch to show you a video of Anne and you hugging during' Fine Line,' and it's sweet. You ask Sarah to share the link wanting to save the video.
There are a few more like that you come to learn.
"You know these videos are nice," you comment. "A big invasive but nice."
Sarah laughs, "correct."
"So neither of you checked what they were saying?" Mitch asks, clearly confused.
Harry groans, "about what?"
"The article."
"No," you reply honestly.
"Well, now there's a mix of 'Pleasing,' the article, and the show," Jeff reminds you.
It seems you'd be the main topic of discussion for longer than you'd like, but Harry was worth it.
@belmontemylove: Y/N and Anne are besties!!! All is right in the world.
@harryandme: I SAW Y/N JEFF AND ANNE ALL HUGGING DURING SOTT!!! FUCK, HARRY REALLY DOES HAVE THE BEST PEOPLE SURROUNDING HIM.
@loveontour20: dating or not, they have the best friends to lover story, and no one can convince me otherwise
@biandproud: Y/N AND HARRY!!! WHAT DID HE DO TO DESERVE HER?!
Harry hides his grin instead and decides to scatter more kisses across your neck.
@belmontemyhero: I knew it. Will they confirm it? Probably not.
@harrysfriend: Y/N posted pleasing :)) do we think Harry did her nails?
@harryangelss: the only answer i'm accepting is yes!
@StylesMyLove: Kind of fucked up their relationship was exposed like that doesn't mean I'm not happy
@belmontexstyles: so maybe love is real
The night continues as everyone laughs over videos and tweets that pop up. Everything is okay. It seems that you might have the support of just about everyone, but you don't care about them.
No.
The only people that matter are your friends and family that want nothing but to see you happy and in love, and you're thankful to have found that with Harry.
thank you for reading <33 i adore you

Birthday Surprise

--------------------------
“Happy birthday! Are you ready for the best birthday ever?! You’re three! Get up and let’s get you ready for the day.”
A squeal of delight left Clementine’s mouth as she pointed to the door, commanding her dad to get out. Laughing out loud, Tommy dodged a toy as he shut the door behind him. Huffing in mock annoyance, the young girl carefully climbed out of her bed and walked to her dresser. Humming a cheerful tune, she grabbed one of her favorite dresses to wear for the day. Sitting on her bed once more, she slipped her sock and shoes onto her feet. As soon as she was dressed, she took a moment to collect herself. Smiling, she peered across her room, staring at the empty bed placed there. She couldn’t help but frown at the sight. She was glad that Theo and Fundy got their own house, she really was, but she missed them. She missed having someone to share a room with, someone who she could talk to when she was unsure or scared.
“Clem! If you don’t hurry up, I’ll eat your breakfast pancakes!”
The small girl gasped as she scrambled to her door, jumping up and down as it opened. Raising her hands up, she giggled as her dad scooped her up in his arms, gently squeezing her in the process.
“Well? Let’s go, girlie. Gotta fix your hair, unless you wanna hear your nan scream her fucking lungs out at us.”
Snuggling into Tommy’s neck, Clem smiled as he walked out of her room and into the kitchen. Sitting down in her seat, the young girl happily began to eat as her dad began to fix her hair, humming a tune as he did so. Today was going to be a great day.
------------
“Look at you!!! Oh, you look so precious!!!”
Kristin couldn’t help but dote on her granddaughter, squeezing the squealing girl as Tommy rolled his eyes. Grian laughed, Grumbot and Jrumbot smiling at their younger cousin. Theo wheezed out a laughter as he pointed at his cousin, ignoring the amused, pointed look directed at him by his dad. After a few attempts, Tommy was finally able to pry his daughter from his mother’s grasp.
“Aye, Gri, did you let Xisuma know?”
“Yup. While we’re gone, he, along with everyone else, will be decorating and preparing for Clem’s dinner party.”
“Perfect. Let’s get going, right? Gotta meet everyone else for lunch. Ready to go, birthday girl?”
Clem smiled as she nodded, delighted for the day’s activities. Grabbing her dad’s hand in her own, she skipped alongside him as they walked towards the Hub portal, something that no longer scared her. Smiling alongside her family, she happily scurried into the portal.
“Stay close, let’s not get lost in the Hub traffic.”
Tommy lifted Clementine into his arms and onto his shoulders, something that the girl loved. Once all the children were secured, the group navigated their way through the crowded area. Finally making it out, everyone made their way towards city central. As Clementine played simple games with her cousins, pointing and naming the scenery around them, a cheerful voice caught her attention.
“There’s our birthday girl!”
Lani and Drista happily greeted the girl, who was climbing from Tommy to Tubbo. Behind them stood Phil, Techno and Wilbur. The three gave their greetings to the group, wishing the young girl a happy birthday. Smiling, Kristin approached Phil with open arms. The two hugged, sharing a quick kiss, before Kristin greeted the other two boys. Techno and Wilbur both greeted her in return, only to be interrupted when Grian approached, using his wings to pull both his brothers into a hug. Tommy snickered as he spewed teases to his brothers, only to curse loudly when he was pulled in with them.
“Oi! Fuck off!”
“Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!”
“Shit, Clementine! No copying daddy’s cursing!”
------------
“Slow down, Clem, don’t choke. Your food isn't going anywhere.”
Clem just quickly swallowed her food, sticking her tongue out at her uncle before shoving another spoonful of mac & cheese in her mouth, making Wilbur grimace once more. Sighing, he turned to face his baby brother, who paid no mind to the way his daughter was eating. Frowning, he spoke up.
“Tommy.”
“Hm? What?”
“Look at your daughter.”
“What about her?”
“Look at how she’s eating.”
Tommy peered over to Clementine, who shoved another mouthful in, smudges of cheese around her mouth. Tilting her head she smiled at her uncle, making Wilbur gag once more. Phil scrunched his nose as Kristin hid a laugh, shaking her head at the scene. Humming, Tommy just nodded.
“Ah, I see. Clem, you need to eat more protein, here.”
“Tommy, I didn’t mean that!”
“Mememememe, that’s what you sound like right now.”
Clem giggled as she watched the two bicker with each other. Turning to face her cousins, amusement filled her as she saw Theo’s disgusted expression.
“Clem, that’s gross!”
Biting crazily into her burger, she chewed a few times before opening her mouth, showing off her food. Grumbot and Jrumbot both grimaced, looking away. Theo, on the other hand, screeched.
“Ewwww!!!!! DAAAAAAD!!!!!”
Swallowing her food, Clem couldn’t help but laugh as chaos ensued at their table. As she prepared to feed the chaos, movement in the corner of her eye caught her attention. Tilting her head, she watched as the figure stiffened, before running down an alley. Quietly sliding out of her seat, she grabbed two of her burgers as she followed the figure, not bothering to notify her family of her actions. Peering into the alley, she gathered her confidence as she spoke up.
“H-Hello?”
A whimper replied.
“Come out?”
Silence.
“Hungry?”
“Y-yes…”
“Here! Food!”
Clementine smiled as she held out one of her burgers. She watched as a child her size emerged from the shadows, timidly staring at her hand. Ears twitching, he licked his lips as he saw the burger, uneaten, waiting for him. The swishing of his black-striped tail caught her attention, amusement filling her. A raccoon.
“Take.”
He didn’t need to be told twice. In an instant, he lunged forward, snatching the burger and scarfing it down, hungry growls escaping his mouth. Once he had finished it (wrapper and everything) he seemed to have settled down. Flushed with embarrassment over how he acted when eating, he mumbled apologies. Clementine just smiled as she held out the other burger.
“Take.”
He watched her once more, staring at the second burger presented to him by the same girl. She was weird.
“Come on, I won’t hurt you, promise! Let’s sit down over here.”
Clementine nodded, making the hybrid smile. Following him into a pile of abandoned boxes, she happily sat down in front of the boy, who was obviously trying to hide how hungry he was for the second burger. Smiling, she held the burger out to him once more. His face brightened up as he grabbed it, nodding in thanks as he began to eat again. Doing his best to restrain himself from scarfing it down and risking scaring the girl away, he slowly ate the burger, thinking of what to say. Halfway through the burger, he spoke up.
“Thank you for the food! You’re really nice! You know, it’s my birthday today, so this is a nice gift!”
“Birthday?”
“Yeah!”
“Birthday!”
The boy brightened up as Clementine pointed to herself, happily chanting that it was her birthday. Quickly finishing his burger, he quickly continued the conversation.
“It’s your birthday too? Cool! How old are you?”
“Three!”
“Really? Me too! We’re like twins!”
“Twins! Twins!”
The two smiled and laughed as Clem hopped up and down in her seat flailing her arms in excitement. The boy shared her excitement and joy, happily kicking his feet around. Pointing to herself once more, Clem happily exclaimed at the boy.
“Clementine!”
“That’s a nice name, Clementine. I’m William!”
“Wil! Wil! Wil!”
Jumping to the ground, Clem twirled a bit before holding her hand out.
“Go!”
“Where?”
“Papa!”
William stopped, his smile dropping. Avoiding her eyes, he spoke up.
“O-Oh, you have a family? I don’t think your mom and dad will like you being around me.”
“Uh-uh. Me ‘n Papa. Papa love you. Papa wants you home.”
He still looked unsure, something that made the girl annoyed. He was being very difficult at the moment, and she didn’t appreciate that.
“Papa adopt me. Papa adopt you. Family.”
“Do you think so?”
“I know.”
“Well, I don’t think he’d want a raccoon hybrid in his home.”
Smiling at the boy, Clem shook like a wet animal, forming raccoon ears and a tail for herself. William starred in shock, his eyes widening even more the moment she shifted between different types of animals and bugs, ending with her human form.
“He take me. He take you. Stay here, I come back with Papa.”
With Wil’s nod of agreement, Clementine scurried from the alley and back to her family’s table. Upon sitting down, she was immediately hounded.
“There you are!”
“Where were you?!”
“We searched everywhere! We were fixing to pay so that we could look for you in other areas!”
“Bathroom.”
The family settled down as Clementine gave her excuse, the bathroom. All buying it, they warned her to not scare them like that ever again. After all that was done, everyone began to disperse, promising to meet up at the Hermit server for the dinner. All who remained was Clementine and Tommy.
“Papa.”
“Hm?”
“Follow.”
Before Tommy could say or do anything, Clementine took off. Not wanting to lose his daughter again, he quickly followed, calling out to her. Concern formed in him as they entered an alley, only to melt away the moment he saw his daughter pull on a small hand from a pile of boxes.
“Wil, out.”
After many attempts with no success, she dramatically groaned as she began to pull on her father’s hand. Pointing back at the pile, she whined to her father.
“Wil.”
Raising an eyebrow, he nodded as he kneeled before the boxes. Peering in, he called out in uncertainty.
“Hello?”
“H-Hi.”
“I’m assuming that you’re Wil?”
“Y-Yes sir. William.”
The tugging sensation at Tommy’s arm caught his attention. Turning to face his daughter, he watched as happily pointed at the hidden boy.
“Twins!!!”

A Comforting Melody
Summary: Clementine wanders around Ericson with Maisy to find Louis who has a new song to show her.
Word Count: 1796
Read on AO3:
Clementine walked through the silent hallways of the dorms, her footsteps the only sound save for the muffled voices outside in the courtyard. She took a deep breath and enjoyed the peace of the moment before Maisy stirred in her sling. Her baby began to cry softly and Clementine rocked her lightly as she walked forward.
“Hey, it's okay. I’m right here,” Clementine smiled down softly at her daughter. Maisy looked up at her mom with large eyes and seemed to calm down a bit. Clementine gave a small sigh of relief, glad that Maisy had settled down. She continued down the hallway and noticed that the sun was setting which meant that dinner wouldn’t be too long from now.
Her eyes wandered back down to the sling and noticed that Maisy looked rather sleepy. Maybe she could sneak in a quick nap time for Maisy but Clementine also wanted to check in with Louis. Considering her options for a moment, Clementine opted to find her husband before settling Maisy down for a nap. Wandering towards the doors Clementine carefully opened them and was hit with the sounds of her friends happily going about their daily lives.
Aasim had just gotten back from hunting and immediately went over to Ruby after setting down the catches for the day. He always made sure to find Ruby first to reassure her that he was okay after a day of hunting. Aasim smiled softly at his wife and stole a quick kiss before holding out his hands to hold his son. Ruby handed Zachariah over and Aasim gently held his son and placed a kiss on his forehead before rocking him softly.
To the right of the happy family Willy was busy trying to learn how to braid hair from Violet and Prisha. Renata seemed just as intent on learning the special art of hair braiding. Allison sat before Renata and seemed somewhat reluctant about being her guinea pig for this but the small smile on her lips made it clear that Allison wouldn’t say no. Meanwhile James was busy helping out with dinner prep with Omar. The pair spoke softly as the faint sound of knives slicing through the vegetables filled the air around them.
“Willy! It’s your turn for watch!” AJ called out from the watchtower, cupping his hands around his mouth. Willy groaned in annoyance, his hands hovering over Prisha’s hair. He was just about to start the first few steps on his journey to becoming the best hair braider of all. .
“Don’t worry, you can always practice later,” Prisha smiled back at Willy who returned the smile.
“Okay,” Willy hopped up from his spot and jogged forward towards AJ who was already waiting at the base of the watchtower. “Any funny looking walkers today?”
AJ thought deeply for a moment at that question. “I think one was stuck in a tree,”
“Really?” Willy snatched up the binoculars from AJ and scrambled up the ladder to the watchtower. He immediately looked out to see a walker who had its hand stuck in a tree. With a groan the walker yanked on its arm, causing it to tear off as it continued after a rabbit that was far too speedy for it to catch. Willy laughed and continued to watch on. AJ watched his best friend for a few seconds before his eyes caught sight of Clementine.
“Clem!” AJ ran forward with a huge smile. His eyes grew large when he noticed his little sister sleepily blinking at him from inside the slink. “Shit. I mean, shoot!” AJ quickly corrected himself before he realized he was talking too loudly again. A look of frustration covered his face as his lips pulled into a pout.
“It’s okay, kiddo,” Clementine laughed and ruffled the top of AJ’s afro. “Maisy and I are just going to say hi to Louis before Maisy gets her nap time.”
“It’s Maisy’s nap time? I gotta grab my shiv and go on patrol!” AJ didn’t wait a single second for Clementine to respond and was off like a shot.
“AJ, where’s Louis?” Clementine called out but he was already long gone. With a soft chuckle she shook her head and continued forward. She’d just have to find Louis on her own. AJ tended to get like this whenever Maisy was settling down for a nap. He’d either insist on going on a patrol to make sure no walkers got in and there were no threats around or he’d sit on the bed nearby his sister and keep watch. Either way AJ was determined that no one ever hurt Maisy in any way. Clementine found the whole thing very sweet, how AJ always wanted to protect his family so fiercely and how deeply he loved Maisy. It warmed Clementine’s heart.
Clementine strolled forward, lightly bouncing Maisy as she walked. If Louis wasn’t in the courtyard and most of the daily chores were done, then there was only one place he would be. Clementine immediately made a beeline to the admin building and knew her hunch had been right. For as soon as she had entered she could hear the warm, soft melody of the piano. Clementine felt a smile pull on her lips as she wandered forward towards the music room. Peeking her head inside she saw Louis, lost in his music as his fingers danced upon the piano keys. He continued to play for a few more seconds before he felt Clementine’s presence. Glancing over, Louis’ face instantly brightened when he saw his wife. Sliding off the piano bench, he strolled forward and captured Clementine’s lips in a soft, tender kiss.
“Hello, my darling. What brings you here? Did my alluring music draw you in?” Louis grinned before his smile softened as he became lost in Clementine’s eyes.
“It definitely helped me find you.” Clementine reached out and gently squeezed Louis’ hand. Her heart felt calm and light like it always did when she was around Louis. The two shared a smile before Louis noticed the sling.
“And who is this a-Mais-ing bundle of joy?” Louis gently picked up Maisy and began to rock her. Maisy smiled and gave a small laugh as she reached up to try and grab one of Louis’ dreadlocks. “Damn, how did our kid turn out to be so cute?” Louis looked over at Clementine with a warm smile.
“I think we’re both pretty cute so it only makes sense. Plus she has some of our best features, like your freckles,” Clementine poked one of the freckles on Louis’ face before bopping his nose. Louis’ nose crinkled with joy and he leaned forward and kissed Clementine once more. He looked down at his daughter with pride and love.
“Well, she had your smile,” Louis felt his heart grow warm when he looked at his daughter. “Oh, how about Maisy takes her nap in here? She always loves the sound of the piano plus the rocking chair is in here,” Louis motioned with his head over to the rocking chair that Willy and Prisha had made during the months leading up to Maisy and Zach being born.
“I thought the rocking chair would be on the porch of the admin building,” Clementine commented as she walked side by side with Louis towards the rocking chair.
“It was but as it turns out Zachariah also finds piano music calming. So sometimes when Ruby or Aasim want a quick break from their kid crying they sneak in here with Zach and soon enough my music conks him out.” Louis smiled over at Clementine and gently placed Maisy back into her mother’s arms.
He pressed a quick kiss to Maisy’s forehead then was pleasantly surprised when Clementine captured his lips in a kiss. Louis’ heart soared and he felt like he always did around Clementine, filled with hope and joy. He gave a dorky grin then pulled on the sides of his coat. “I happened to be working on a special little piece for our family when you strolled in. I’ll have to play it again when AJ is around. Where is he by the way?”
“He’s out on patrol. I told him Maisy was taking a nap,” Clementine gently rocked back and forth in the chair.
“Gotta hand it to that little dude, he’s nothing if not protective. It's adorable, him being so protective of our family,” Louis smiled softly; the pride for AJ was clear in his voice. “Well, he’ll have to hear this song later but for now I can give you a sneak peek,”
Louis’ smile was infectious and Clementine couldn’t help but return it. “I’d love that. Let’s see what you wrote this time, Freckles,” Clementine watched as Louis spun around dramatically, causing his tailcoats to flutter lightly. Louis pushed the tailcoats back and sat down. Taking a deep breath, he began to play the song. It was a soft, joyful song. The notes slowly filled the air, complementing each other as the song progressed. His fingers brushed against the keys and fluttered around.
Clementine listened to the music, closing her eyes to soak in every single note as she rocked back and forth in the chair. Louis’ music had always been special; the emotions that he captured in them were always so strong and clear. The notes danced around the room, filling it with the passion that was poured into the song. The joy of it, the tender love, the feeling of comfort and safety. Clementine felt like she could listen to this song forever. Before she knew it the song had ended.
“There, first time played,” Louis spun around on the piano bench and gave his wife a loving smile. Clementine opened her eyes and looked over at Louis.
“I loved it. Does it have a name?”
“Shelter,” Louis awkwardly scratched the back of his head. “Not the most original name, I know.”
“It's perfect.” Clementine’s words made Louis’ eyes shine with joy. Without thinking twice Louis got up and quietly jogged over to steal another kiss from Clementine. Looking down, he saw that Maisy was fast asleep.
“Works every time,” Louis gently took Clementine’s hand and brushed his thumb on top of it. The two watched their daughter for a moment before Clementine spoke up.
“Could you play the song again?”
Louis’ smile grew and he placed a quick peck on Clementine’s cheek. “Of course, my darling.”
Giving his wife’s hand a soft squeeze Louis moved back over to the piano and began the song once more. Clementine closed her eyes and took in every single note. Her heart filled with peace and abundant joy. To think that she had a home and a family. Clementine couldn’t help but feel extremely lucky. She was home.

There Goes My Life - Chapter One
A/N This is the sequel to my previous novel Anything But Mine! You can read this novel as a stand alone but it will make more sense if you read the original first! Everything is tagged in my masterlist! If you want to be added to my tag list, shoot me a message! Happy reading x
Summary: It has been 18 years since ‘Anything But Mine’ ended and 19-year-old Clementine is now heading back to university for her second year, now accompanied by her 18-year-old sister, Penelope. Penelope soon notices that her older sister isn’t the same level-minded girl she was while living at home; having a bit of a personality change when living away at school. Things only escalate when a wrench is thrown into Clementine’s life, and she starts to question everything she ever knew to be true, almost tearing apart her family in the process.
Note: This story and the whole Anything But Mine universe, is based off the song There Goes My Life by Kenny Chesney. I recommend listening to it because it’s such a sweet song and sums up Daniel’s relationship with Clementine and his girls so well.
Saturday, September 4, 2038
The single lane highway was framed with sprawling farmland and full green trees under a clear blue summer sky. It was September 4th and therefore the beginning of a new school year, the silver Audi driving eastward and packed full of two loads of suitcases, taped up boxes, and a few too many bags. Three teenage girls were squished together in the backseat, singing along to whatever song was on the radio. Clementine was on the right, her dark blonde hair tied back in a ponytail, sipping her strawberry lemonade between lyrics. She was ultimately calm, smiling at her little family whom she loved with her whole heart with her arm linked through her little sister’s. Lucy took the middle seat since she was youngest at merely fourteen. She took after her father with her musical talent, her pitch perfect voice filling the car impressively. As they got closer to the urban landscapes, she slid her hand into her middle sister’s who was sat on her left, offering her a gentle smile. Penelope returned it, giving her sister’s hand a small squeeze before looking back out the window; she was more than excited to be starting university with her older sister there to help her out. That was until they pulled up to the old stone campus and reality started to set in.
It wasn’t as busy as it would be since they chose to move in early. Daniel and Florence knew that their second oldest would start to panic with such a quick turn around before classes as well as being thrown into meeting so many people all at once. With Penelope, early was always better.
It didn’t seem to make any difference on her nerves as her family climbed out of the car once they parked outside the residence building but she stayed frozen in her seat, eyes glued to the old stone building towering in front of her. She slowly raised her hand to her mouth and bit anxiously at her fingernail. The car door opening startled her.
“What’s wrong, bug?” Daniel whispered, leaning down next to her as the other girls were unloading the car.
“I don’t want to do this.” Penelope breathed, her voice wavering. She glanced up at him with tears brimming in her blue eyes.
Daniel sighed, crouching down next to her, and pressed a hand to her cheek, “It’s what you’ve always talked about, Penny. You’re going to be featured in the MET before you know it.”
“But I can’t do that without you guys.” Penelope protested. “I-I just can’t.”
“Yes, you can. You’re going to absolutely kill it. And you won’t even be on your own…Clementine is going to be with you. You know she’ll be there to help you with whatever you need. And if you really need me on a weekend I can come down and take you for lunch, okay? We’re only a phone call away.”
Penelope nodded, sniffling quietly.
“Just take it one step at a time, bug. Everything’s going to be just fine.” Daniel whispered, leaning in to press a kiss to her head. He unbuckled her seatbelt for her and held out his hand for her to take.
She smiled softly and took his hand, following him around the car to the sidewalk where all the bags were piled.
“Let’s get a move on, Nell. Life won’t wait around for us.” Clementine clapped her hands together a few times through a wide smile, handing over her backpack.
The family of five made their way into the lobby of the residence building with their many boxes and bags. Clementine waltzed right up to the front desk.
“Clementine Seavey, signing in.” She announced proudly.
Her shyer sister stood a little behind her, leaning on her suitcase as she felt like her legs were going to give out.
“Go on, sis.” Clementine nudged her once she received her key.
The lady behind the front desk smiled tightly at her.
Penelope cleared her throat and took a step forward, leaning her arms on the top of the desk, “Penelope Seavey.”
The lady typed her name into the computer and then shuffled through a box of small envelopes before passing her one, “Room 302. The stairs are just down the hall on your right. Welcome to Queen’s!”
Clementine was already halfway down the hallway by the time Penelope turned around.
“Wait for your sister, Clem.” Daniel called through a laugh, draping his arm around his middle daughter’s shoulders as they followed after her.
There was no elevator in the old building so each suitcase and heavy box had to be pulled up the stairs one by one. By the time everything was brought to the third floor, they were all no less than exhausted. Clementine still powered on, finding her room down the hall; 310. Lucy scurried behind her, pushing her four-wheeled suitcase at top speed.
“You’re going to break it.” Clementine laughed, giving her youngest sister a small shove and pulled her bag inside her empty room. “Make yourself useful and go get my other stuff.” She pinched her cheek.
“Do you want to stick with Clementine and help her move in if we take care of your sister, Lu?” Florence asked.
“Sure thing.” Lucy smiled, overloading her arms with Clementine’s way too over-packed boxes before stumbling back down the hall.
Penelope looked down at the envelope in her hands that had her full name scrawled out in cursive handwriting along with her room number. She ripped it open and pulled out the key card, taking a small breath before swiping it in her door. The lock clicked and she pushed it open, stepping inside.
The room was tiny but comfortable with a double bed, a desk and a chair, and a full closet and set of drawers with a window that overlooked more of the residences and the sports field in the distance. Penelope sighed and turned around to rest against the window ledge.
“What do you think, bug?” Daniel asked, setting her suitcase in the corner.
“It’s not home.” she shrugged.
“If it was too nice, you’d never come back to us.” Florence joked. The eighteen-year-old cracked a small smile as she looked to the carpet, tucking her dark hair behind her ear.
“We know you’re going to plaster these boring white walls with pictures within two days. It’ll feel more comfortable soon.” Daniel added, bringing another few bags in from the hallway.
“Yeah.” Penelope sighed, sliding her backpack to the floor beside her desk.
“What else can we help you with?” Florence asked.
Daniel set his hands on his hips, “We can make your bed for you…or hang up your clothes…”
“I’m okay.” Penelope assured them. “I can do that.”
“You’re okay if we head out already?” Daniel asked quietly.
“Yeah.” She nodded tightly, keeping her eyes on the ground.
Florence and Daniel exchanged worried glances.
Penelope’s nose scrunched up a little before she let out a soft sob, covering her face with her hands.
“Oh, bug, it’s okay.” Daniel sighed, wrapping his arms around her tightly. She tucked her arms around his waist and buried her face in his chest, trying to steady her panicked breaths as he ran his hand over her hair.
“Once you get into a routine, things will be easier.” Florence added gently. “And you’re going to do so well.”
“Make sure you talk to your sister, okay? Tell her if you need anything.” Daniel said. Penelope nodded.
“She’s gonna be just fine.” Clementine said from the open door. “We’re always good together, aren’t we, Nell?”
Penelope smiled and nodded, wiping her eyes as she pulled back from Daniel’s hug, “That’s what 15 years of sharing a room gets you.”
“We’re so proud of you two.” Florence sighed, holding out her hand to the eldest. Clementine joined their little group hug.
“Wow, glad to see I’m the least favourite.” Lucy rolled her eyes as she walked into the room.
“Get over here, Lu-Lu.” Penelope chuckled, pulling her little sister into her tightly.
“I can’t believe you’re both leaving me to deal with high school alone.” Lucy whined, draping her arms over her sisters’ shoulders. “And to deal with them alone.” She nodded towards their parents.
“Hey!” Florence frowned. “What’s so wrong about us?”
“Nothing.” Daniel tisked, grabbing her cheeks to kiss his wife’s lips.
“That!” Lucy smacked her hands over her eyes. “Ugh! I’m just a child!”
“You get to the car before I smack you.” Florence laughed, swatting at the dramatic youngest as she ran shrieking out of the room.
She turned back to the two eldest, pulling Clementine into a hug first to say goodbye, Daniel taking Penelope into his arms again.
“You work hard this semester, okay, Clemmie girl?” Florence whispered. “You always do. You make me so proud.”
“Thanks, mum.” Clementine chuckled.
The girls switched parents, Clementine pressing a kiss to Daniel’s cheek before hugging him tightly.
“Take good care of yourself, angel.” he said, offering her a gentle smile.
“You too, dad. I love you.” Clementine stuck her tongue out at him and he returned it, a little thing they always did ever since she could remember.
“I love you too, my girl.” Daniel grinned, hugging her once more before the two sisters were left to their own devices.
Clementine turned to her eighteen-month-younger sister and smiled widely once the door closed, “Welcome to Queen’s. Welcome to your whole new life, Nell.”

no more wasted opportunities
Summary: “Friends are all we’ve got, and I’m glad we have each other.” She believed those words to be true; Louis is her friend. Aside from AJ, he’s the one person she’d deem her best friend within the walls of this school. However, to say her feelings halted there behind the line of friendship would be a lie.
Based on Louis’ friendship route.
Author’s Note: Hello. I’m still seriously sick. I forget what being healthy feels like because all I feel is bleh. But, while answering asks the other day I was reminded of this in my drafts and thought, “Haven’t posted a story in a while and I remember really wanting to write this one after ep4 dropped and then I went and abandoned it because I’m the worst ahhh!”
Still working on [with you] but that’s taking forever and I don’t wanna be inactive in my story writing so here’s a thing.
Read on: AO3 | FF.net | Wattpad
Clementine thinks about that night in the music room a lot.
The soft song lulling through the dark hallways, Louis’ comforting smile at her uneasy silence and the tenderness she showed when speaking to her, trying to pry the smile out of her. Every so often, his foot would brush hers, their knees would press together, and despite a faint chill brought upon that music room, his touch was warm. Everything about him emanated warmth; his voice, his smile, his eyes, this touch.
She remembers taking the knife from him, their fingers brushing sparingly. Knife in hand, eyeing the L he carved into the old wood before adding her own, the thought to carve a heart around their initials quickened the pulse in her neck. It would’ve been so easy to lean forward and do it.
Of course, her embarrassment was only inflated when he reached over to carefully take the knife out of her hand, calling her, “Charming, but also sometimes scary.”
Now, every time he brings her to the music room to play for her, her eyes wander to those initials and she can’t help but wish she had taken the chance. Perhaps if she had, she would’ve had the courage to tell him how she truly felt.
The opportunity was there. He’d opened up to her, stared at her with those dark, hopeful eyes with a steadily falling smile, and the words were there on the tip of her tongue.
“I like you, Louis. A lot. As more than a friend.”
But, on that night, even with the knowledge that the raiders could come knock on their doors any moment and all hell could potentially break loose, Clementine choked.
Instead, all she could manage was, “Friends are all we’ve got, and I’m glad we have each other.”
She believed those words to be true; Louis is her friend. Aside from AJ, he’s the one person she’d deem her best friend within the walls of this school. However, to say her feelings halted there behind the line of friendship would be a lie.
Hell, saying those words, hearing them dissipate in the air… they didn’t even scratch the surface of what she felt for him.
And she could see it- the disappointment furrowing his brow, fluttering his eyes shut as if he’d been hoping for something else. Something more. Something she wanted to give him.
That sullen look was brief, soon covered with a smile and a joke. And a fist bump.
A fist bump.
“Clem?”
Broken of her thoughts, Clementine glances over at Louis.
She’d asked him to help her sit on one of the tables outside, allowing her to rest her good leg down on the bench seat while her injured leg hung over carelessly. From the high spot, she can feel the cooling evening air press against her skin much better.
Louis sits beside her on the bench with one leg under the table and his cheek resting in his palm. She notices the bandage around his thumb; apparently, he sliced it open doing something, but he was rather dismissive about telling her what that something was. His gaze darts down to her leg before meeting her eye.
“Are you hurting?”
“Hm?” she blinks down at him. “Oh, no, I’m okay.”
Louis frowns, cocking his head slightly, the concern prominent in his brow. “Your face says otherwise.”
“It’s not my leg, I’m-” she sighs, shifting to stretch her good leg out, “-just thinking about things.”
He nods, offering her a comforting grin. From the deck of cards beside him, he pulls the top one off and offers it to her. “Joker for your thoughts?”
She smiles at that, taking the card and studying it. The corner’s bent and the Joker's face is smeared on one side, likely from water damage. Running her thumb over the damaged corner, she says, “I was thinking about the piano. You promised you’d teach me to play.”
“Ah,” he grins. “I did say that, didn’t I?”
“You did.”
Something strange dances over his face, a thoughtful expression of hesitation and something else she couldn’t pinpoint before it’s gone, replaced with another smile and a soft, “I’d love to teach you.”
That tingle in her gut is back. Her fingers twitch, wanting to reach out and lock their hands together as a thank you. Her skin feels warm despite the setting sun, likely due to a combination of the hot, setting sun and the effect of the boy beside her.
“Just give me a time,” he says. “Morning, noon, night... Perhaps all three? A full day of nothing but piano and very sore fingers.”
“In the morning,” she says. “After breakfast.”
With a smile, Louis twists his body around to peer about the yard. Most everyone’s gone inside with the exception of Omar and Violet.
It’s Omar’s turn for the first night watch, and while Violet’s sight is anything but the 20/20 vision it used to be, he still brings her up with him, insisting she’s good company and a terrific listener.
Even AJ isn’t out here, instead inside with Ruby for his weekly medical lessons. Learning how to fully and properly treat any sort of wound became a clear interest for him after he cut her leg off and watched Ruby work over her. He wanted to be more prepared for anything thrown at them in the future.
Seeing that it’s only the two of them out here, Louis takes a deep inhale of the summer air, floral from the blooming flowers surrounding the school grounds.
“Speaking of pianos…”
He swings his leg back over and stands to climb up beside her. He’s close enough that their forearms press together and their knees knock softly, and Clementine has to bite her lip to repress a smile at the closeness.
Clearing his throat and shooting her his flashiest smile, that cocky, happy-go-lucky persona surfaces again.
“I made you something.”
Her brows shot up, eyes widening as she watches him reach into his coat to pull out a small, gray pouch with a cinched drawstring keeping it closed.
“Think of it as a ‘sorry you lost your leg, but that leg was going to kill you so I’m glad it’s gone and you’re still alive’ gift,” he says before his grin falters. “Uhm, I mean, not that I’m glad you lost your leg, per se. If it were up to me, you’d be alive with both legs but, uh… It’s just that if I have to choose between you alive with one leg and you dead with two, I’d pick one leg every time, so...”
His shoulders slump defeated as his voice trails off. His flustered expression makes her smile, a giggle shaking her shoulders.
“You didn’t have to do that,” she says, then elbows him. “And for the record, it wasn’t my favorite leg, anyway.”
A smile of his own resurfaces at her somewhat dark joke. They stare at each other, and in those seconds Clementine takes in those features of his that she’s grown to love, gaze darting from his kind eyes to the freckles scattered along his nose and down his chest.
Louis, realizing the intimacy of such a shared stare, glances away.
“I wanted to wait until you were up and outta bed, and mostly outta pain.”
She runs her fingers over the velvety material, briefly wondering where he found such a pretty bag. Slipping her fingers inside, she hooks a thin piece of leather cord and pulls it out. At the end to form a necklace is a small block of wood painted white. It only takes a moment for her to recognize it as a piano key.
Her eyes snap up to his, lips parted in a silent, questioning gasp, but she can’t find any words. Seems to be an unfortunate habit she has whenever he’s around.
“It’s the C key. Y’know,” Louis grins sheepishly, shrugging a shoulder, “for Clementine.”
While small, it’s carved smooth, the hole drilled through the perfect size for the black leather cord to slip through, and the paint has very few visible brushstrokes.
“You made this?”
“With my own two hands.”
No one’s ever given her a piece of jewelry before, especially not something beautifully handmade like this. Her cheeks, surely rosier in color by now, strain from her smile as she says, “I- thank you, Louis.”
“You’re welcome,” he grins. “I just… wanted to make you something to prove that I’ll always be here for you. I’ll have your back no matter what. You-” a nervous chuckle catches in his throat as he looks away again, “-You’ve done a lot for me, even when I didn’t deserve it. I see a lot of things differently now, y’know? About the world, about our home, about myself, and you made me see it.”
“You made me see things differently, too.”
“Me?”
Her eyes dart down to his lips.
“Life’s about more than just survival,” she says, holding up the necklace to him. “Help me put it on?”
She turns away from him as Louis brings the necklace over her head and begins to fasten it behind her neck, struggling with his shaky fingers. She touches the wooden piano key against her chest.
She can’t be the only one feeling this. It’s thick in the air between them. How could they keep ignoring it?
While Clementine isn’t exactly an expert when it comes to boys or dating or romantic feelings in general, she knows that by those endless stolen glances, those nervous fingers, those tender words… he has to feel this, too.
After they escaped the cave after defeating the delta, he’d come looking for them. The way he looked at her, so elated to see she and the boys survived, brought back that desire to kiss him.
“...but you came looking for us?”
“Never would’ve forgiven myself if I didn’t.”
Hug him, kiss him… something.
So many opportunities were wasted, and thinking about what could’ve happened to him on the bridge…?
What if it had been too late? What if AJ hadn’t reacted the way he did, as fast as he did? Losing Tenn had been heartbreaking, but losing Louis as well would’ve been devastating.
And if he had died on that bridge, she never would’ve forgiven herself for not being honest with him.
Hell… she hasn’t forgiven herself, anyway.
Clementine turns to glance behind, taking a risk in leaning back against him. His fingers pause, then finish securing it before resting his hands on her shoulders.
“There,” Louis says.
She holds the key in her fingers, twisting it around to admire it.
“I love it,” she beams.
“It suits you,” he grins.
“I wish I had something to give you.”
“Nah,” he waves his hand dismissively at that. “I don’t need anything. You’re enough.” Then, as if realizing he said that out loud, his eyes widen as he faces fully forward, stuttering, “Uh, shit, I mean-” he sighs, contemplation knawing at his lip.
When he doesn’t continue, she quietly asks, “What do you mean?”
“I mean… your friendship is enough.”
Somehow, that sinks her heart just a bit.
While being his friend is something she’d never reject, she still wants more than that. Is the possibility of them being close friends and together romantically so far fetched? Certainly, it couldn’t be…
That is, unless he really doesn’t-
“You’re important to me, Clementine.”
His voice is barely above a whisper, narrowly drowned out by the noise of the nature surrounding their walls, and the urge to kiss him is strong.
It’s stronger than the moment they shared before infiltrating the delta when he asked her to slap him. He squeezed his eyes shut and waited for the impact. Holding him in that moment, telling him he’d be okay…
All she’d have to do it lean forward and press her mouth to his, maybe even sneak a hand behind his head to deepen the kiss. Would he be okay with that? Would he kiss her back, or would the shock of it leave him dumbfounded, frozen until she pulled away?
Louis’ warmth is gone. He’s on his feet, reaching down for her crutches and saying, “We should go inside. It’s late and we have morning watch. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather not sleep in and have to deal with Ruby’s wake up call.”
She didn’t realize how dark it’s gotten. While not totally nighttime, the sun’s fallen completely and the air is skin-tingling cool.
Clementine peers around. It’s still just them, again with the exception of Violet and Omar on watch.
Louis nudges her, offering the crutches.
As she stares at them, something’s bubbling in her throat.
This isn’t working.
Ignoring her feelings- both of them ignoring it… She has enough to deal with; the loss of a leg, worries about AJ being more independent and going off on his own most of the time, keeping everyone fed, the lack of Violet’s sight, working up a trade with the traveling caravan…
And she could argue that pursuing this with Louis would bring up more worries, more potential to be heartbroken, but the idea of never giving it a chance only hurts more.
It’s like what Louis himself told her once.
“There’s only one guarantee: this moment.”
“Clem, c’mon-”
“-Might as well enjoy it.”
“Lou?” she interrupts. “Can… can we stay out here a little longer?”
Louis quirks a brow. “You don’t have your jacket. Won’t you get cold?”
“-this moment.”
“Not if you’re here with me.”
Her words have a small effect on him, she can see it in the way his hands grip the crutches tighter and how his brows furrow. She can see the debate playing in his eye of if he should argue.
“Only for a little while,” she says. “Please?”
His shoulders slump.
“Can’t say no to a face like that,” he murmurs to himself. “Okay, but if you get sick I’m putting you on bedrest for an entire week.”
“A whole week, huh?”
“Yep!” He sets the crutches aside again, moving back to his spot beside her on the table. This time, though, he’s more aware of how close they were and scoots away to give her more room. “And don’t think you’ll be able to escape. There’ll be top security watching your every move.”
“And where exactly will you find this top security?”
Louis smirks. “His name is AJ and he takes his job very seriously.”
That gets a laugh out of her.
They laugh together as they sit on that table, peering out at the trees hanging over the walls. They remain out there until goosebumps rise along her arm and she has to control her body from shivering.
Louis seems to sense her tensity regardless of her efforts.
“Are you cold?”
“Maybe.”
“Do you wanna go in?”
With her heart thumping so damn loud against her ribcage, Clementine shakes her head and scoots closer to him until their arms and thighs are pressed together. He watches her closely, exhaling shakily through his nose. He doesn’t move away, and he doesn’t say anything. She takes this as a good sign.
“We don’t have to stay out here if you’re cold.”
“It’s a nice night,” she says. “Peaceful, like the dead aren’t out there walking around. I just want to enjoy it a little longer.”
“Well,” he hesitates, scratching the back of his neck. “Do you want my jacket?”
“Won’t you be cold, then?”
“Nah, I don’t get cold easily. Here-” Louis leans away to shrug off his jacket and helps wrap it around her shoulders. The warmth soaks into her chilled skin, making her smile as she pulls the material closer.
“Thank you.”
“Of course.”
Louis nods up at the sky. “Stars are starting to come out,” he says.
She follows his gaze up to the one lonely star occupying the darkening sky. The more she gazes, the more stars seem to appear until they’re all scattered across an inky sky. She finds herself peering up at the moon, or rather the half moon, and thinks of how dark the world would become if it weren’t there, how cold it would be.
Clementine anxiously picks at her cuticles, glancing over at him and speaking before she loses her nerve.
“Lou?”
“Hm?”
“Can I hold your hand?”
He cocks his head to look at her, blinking in confusion, clearly wondering if he heard her right.
Clementine reaches over to run her fingertips over the top of his hand before flipping it over and lacing their fingers together. His hand is much bigger than hers, rougher. Not that she has silky smooth hands, but they’re different. Slimmer, more delicate, and not nearly as warm.
“Is this okay?”
“Oh, uh, heh-” Louis shakes his head, nervously chuckling. “Yeah, no, I don’t mind. We can- we can hold hands.”
He doesn’t say it out loud, but she knows he’s thinking it: Friends can hold hands! It’s no big deal!
But, rather than genuinely thinking that to be true, it’s an excuse.
Clementine moves even closer, taking his hand in both of hers and resting her cheek against his shoulder. This gets another anxious chuckle out of him, so she runs her thumb in calming circles along his wrist and hums lightly to herself. She lets her eyes fall, savoring the closeness as she racks her buzzing mind for something to say.
She hadn't been completely honest with him back in the music room those many weeks ago and has had nothing but regret ever since.
It's time to take the risk and change that.
She won't miss another opportunity.
Clementine turns so that her chin rests upon his shoulder, her nose nearly grazing his cheek. If he were to look at her now, they'd barely be an inch apart. He doesn't, fully aware of her every movement, fully knowing that if he did, everything would change.
Within the quiet of the night, she whispers, “You know you’re important to me, too, right?”
He doesn’t say anything, but his hand tightens around hers.
"You're one of my favorite people."
That makes him smile.
"I'm honored."
He doesn't look away from the sky, forcing a fascination with the stars.
Clementine pulls back to see his face, catching his glance towards her movement.
"Louis?"
Another glance.
"I like you."
Silence.
"A lot."
Then, he says slowly, forcibly light, "I like you, too."
Her heart drums in her ears, heat vibrating in her cheeks.
"You-" Louis' eyes fall shut, and with a sigh, he says, "You're an amazing friend."
"...So are you."
His eyes fall shut as he slips his hand free of hers.
Before Louis can move off the table, she asks, "Is that all you want?"
"What?"
"An amazing friend?"
"I- ... we should go inside. It's late."
This time, Clementine rests her hand on his knee, stopping him from getting off the table. He finally looks at her, and she can see it again. That disappointment mixed in a cocktail of melancholy and frustration, trying to hide beneath a cheery exterior. However, it seems that said exterior is starting to crack as he glances down at the hand touching him.
"What do you want, Clementine?"
"You."
Louis searches her face, trying to find something to doubt, looking for a double meaning behind that single word.
All he manages out is, “...We’re friends.”
“We are, but…” Quietly murmuring, just loud enough for him to hear, “That’s not all we have to be.”
“What, uh-” he clears his throat, scoffing and attempting to joke only for it to come out somewhat bitter, “like we could be super awesome best friends?”
“We can be that, too-" she removes her hand from his knee, trailing it up his neck to press against his cheek, "-and also be something else."
His hand moves on top of hers, conflicted on what to do here.
"Like what?"
That thought blares in her mind again as her gaze darts down to his slightly parted lips. He notices, sucking his bottom lip between his teeth, waiting.
"Louis?"
A glance.
"Can I kiss you?"
A shaky sigh.
"Please."
An experimental press, there and back again, quickly turns into the kiss that continued to linger in her mind after that night in the music room. Warm, slow and unsure, but comforting yet thrilling. With every kiss, Clementine grows bold, keeping on hand on his cheek while the other pulls him closer by the nape of his neck. A pleased sigh escapes her, and she feels his lips curl into a pleased, giddy smile as he kisses her.
When they break apart, Louis' giggling to himself and staring at her with those dark, loving eyes.
"Didn't know best friends did this," he jokes.
"They don't," she smirks. "But boyfriend and girlfriend's do."
"Well, too bad we're super awesome best friends then, huh?"
"Louis."
He laughs, so happy and warm.
She can’t help but kiss him again.
And as she kisses him, she makes a mental note to fix those initials during their piano lesson tomorrow.

The Kids Are Alright- Chapter 1, part 1
Contains spoilers from Take Us Back.
Clementine’s POV
Clem’s POV~
I was ready to say goodbye, though I wasn’t ready to leave him. I prepared myself to finally be with Lee again, to see my mother and father, Sandra, Omid, Duck, Kenny… at least that’s what I hoped happened when I got to the other side. I took one last deep breath and closed my eyes, this was it, this would be my last moment with Aj; at least for awhile. As I prepared to die a surge of pain raged through my body, I screamed; he didn’t aim for the head Aj chopped off my leg. The walkers roar matched mine as tears ran down my face, my leg was gone in two strikes. Aj was fuzzy through my tears I tried to mumble words the pain was agonizing, it was too much, I blacked out. Aj? Black out. Louis? Black out. Ruby? Black out. Blood? Black out.
I kept fading in and out, I could barely hold onto any consciousness. I just remember a pain like no other, and how I still wasn’t dead, yet. My eyes felt heavy with sleep, and there was a tingling pain coming from my left leg. The sound of classical music played lightly in the background, my eyes slowly split apart as I stared at the top of the bunk bed. I started to wiggle my fingers just a bit as my body felt stiff. As I moved my leg I felt a pain like no other coming from my left leg, I yelped with pain, what happened? “She’s up! Ruby she’s awake!” I heard Aj’s voice as he ran out the room. I tried to get up but as I sat up the pounding in my head played on repeat, I fought through it. Next, I flipped the covers and saw one leg but not the other. The door busted open before I had a moment to react. “Clementine! Whoa, take it easy. Come on lay back down.” Though I couldn’t take my eyes off the stump that was now my leg, I recognized his voice: It was Louis. He lightly touched my arm and helped me back down. My head was banging and my body was sore, it was easier not to move. “My leg!” I started to panic a little bit. “Hey, hey, hey. Look at me, breathe.” I looked at him and started to breathe. “I was bit…” “Shh, Clem, you made it. Aj saved your life, you lived.” He caressed my face. The door busted open as Aj busted in with Ruby. “Clem!” Aj ran to me as I accepted his embrace. It caused me pain but every second was worth it being with my goofball again. “How long have I been out?” I asked. “4 days.” Ruby held onto the ladder of the bed. “We kept you medicated and watered, but I bet your starving.” “That’s an understatement.” I felt my stomach. “I’ll get you something to eat, so I can give you something for the pain.” Ruby smiled. “It’s good to have you back with us Clementine.” “It’s really good to be back.” I shared her smile. “Aj why don’t you come help me get some things for Clem.” As reluctant as Aj was to leave my side, he still willingly left to help Ruby.
I sat up off my elbows as I supported my weight against the back of the bed. Louis helped me adjust then took my hand in his. “I thought I lost you.” He held my fingers close to his lips. “Me too.” I closed my eyes, not trying to think about how heartbroken I would of left him. “Clem, I know we haven’t been… well… a thing for long, but I care so much about you and ever since I met you a month or so back, you’ve been the best thing to walk into my life since forever and the thought of losing you-“ he choked on his words as I saw him wipe a quick tear away. His words slightly took my breath away. I didn’t have words to comfort his pain, so I kissed him. It was something I didn’t know I needed till now. He lightly touched my face, I could tell he was being as gentle as he could, but I held onto him with as much strength as I can offer. The kiss lingered between us for a few minutes before my hands fell on top of his. I still don’t understand how I cheated death, I was bit, I was gone, how did I live? “Louis.” His eyes slowly met mine. “Hmm.” I loved the affect my kiss had on him. “What happened?” His face dropped with mine following his. “I just remember we were all searching for you guys, when we heard a scream. We followed it, then heard another one. It led us to the barn. We all fought so we could get you guys out. I just remember seeing your leg and all the blood… Aj told us you were bit but he cut it off and that you need a doctor. I picked you up and him and I ran the whole way back, I didn’t stop for a second until you were in Ruby’s care. Luckily she had just finished helping Violet and was able to help before you lost too much blood. When Minnie cut your leg, ironically she saved your life. She got you patched up, and a fever set in. We all thought you weren’t going to make it, well all of us except Aj. You ended up pulling through and let me tell you, he never left your side. I came and stayed for as long as I could, but the other kids needed me and I knew you were in good hands.” I took my time taking in all the information. Aj made a call and he saved my life. “I’m just glad you’re still with us, with me.” I smiled as he kissed my forehead. The door slowly opened and Aj entered. “Are you guys going to be doing that all the time now?” He said as he brought me some food. “Yup pretty much.” Louis smirked while Aj rolled his eyes.
“How do you feel Clem?” Aj asked as he sat the bowl of soup beside me.
“I’m in a lot of pain, but I’m happy to still be alive.” I looked at the stump that was now my leg.
“I knew you’d live, you’re still the toughest person I know.” I moved over so Aj could take a spot next to me.
“I don’t know Aj, I think you’re becoming more tough than me. What you did was very brave.” I smiled as the soups flavor overtook my senses.
“ No ones as tough as you Clem.” seeing Aj’s face was everything in this moment. I started to eat the delightful soup, I could tell it was getting cold, probably from sitting outside for awhile. I wanted to eat slow but I was starving and couldn’t help myself.
“I think you’re going to need a little more, i’ll be back.” Louis stood from my bedside.
“No it’s okay, the others need to eat.” I grabbed his arm.
“Clem it’s okay, we have enough. What Willy stole from the raiders will keep us going for at least a month or so, we’ll make due.” He touched my hand then left the room with my bowl, he’s amazing.
I turned around to see Aj staring at me. I took him into my arms and held my little goofball.
“I love you Aj.” A tear slipped out of my eye.
“ I love you back Clem.” He held onto me.
The door opened and Ruby came in with some medicine and what looked like supplies to clean my fo- I mean stump.
“Hey Aj would you mind giving us a moment.” Ruby started setting things up on our dresser.
“But-” I Immediately cut Aj off.
“It’s okay Aj, as soon as she’s done you can come back in the room.” I squeezed his hand.
“Okay.” Aj left the room, but not without a fit.
“Alright let’s get you cleaned up.” Ruby said.
First she cleaned my stump and replaced my bandages, it hurt like hell. Next I had to take my shirt off. The bruises on my ribs and arms were ferocious, those hurt like hell. She sponged the hurt parts of me and gave me some medicine for the pain, then wrapped up. I could tell she wanted to ask about my brand, but refrained from doing so. Once she left Aj and Louis both entered in all at once with food and Aj with a new drawing of me. I happily took the bowl and beautiful artwork and watched the two change the music to jazz. Louis and Aj danced and were jolly, I laid there and watched the two before drifting to sleep.
I was swinging in my treehouse tire swing, I could see my house 5240 S Grover St., the pool covered up and the high fence behind me. It was quiet, no walkers, only the sound of nature. I took in the fresh air, it felt nice to be back.
“You did it Clementine, I knew you could.” Lee gave me a push on my swing.
“I almost died, but Aj saved me.” my head dropped, understanding the pain I put him through.
“Yeah sweetpea, but you’re still here.” He continued to push.
“Still not Bitten.” I repeated those words as both my legs were high in the air.
“Still not bitten.” He repeated after me.
“I found a home Lee. I really like it here.” I thought about Louis, mine and Aj’s room, our friends.
“I’m glad Clementine, I’m glad you found people to love you and look out for you. You found gold in this hard life, that’s all I ever hoped for you.” He stopped pushing and I got out my treehouse.
“Thank you Lee, thank you for saving me and teaching me how to survive.” I hugged him as tears poured down my eyes.
“It was you that saved me Clementine.” He hugged me back. “Now go Clem, we’ll see each other again soon.” He stood at my level.
“You can count on it.” I smiled as i wiped the tears from my eyes.
I turned around and climbed up my treehouse. I have a new home now.

Ey yoooo! You're art is amazeballs! I'm in AWE of your mad skillz, &hello my fellow TWDG!DuckLives AU fan?!? I'm not the only one who wishes that?!? Also, wild concept but, what do you think an AU where Both Duck & Sarah survive to continue traveling with Clem &AJ would be like? Sarah in S3? S4? How would things change or stay the same d'ya think?
Hey there, anon! Thank you so much! ♥ I’m glad you like my AU!
That’s a really good question actually. I hadn’t thought into it very much, but now that you’ve mentioned it, Sarah would be a very interesting character to see develop and grow, especially with both Duck and Clem around.
Here’s some headcanons for you! ♥(I got kinda carried away with this so there’s quite a lot, I hope you don’t mind fuhishfufhs)
By the end of season 2, Clementine’s relationship with both Sarah and Duck would change drastically based on whether she shoot Kenny or let him kill Jane, and so would their character developments from them on.
They’re both appalled if you choose to shoot Kenny. Since Sarah had developed a good bond with him, and Jane always regarded her as a liability, she would be taken aback by Clementine choosing to save Jane out of the two, especially after what she’d done to AJ. The scene would also bring her back the traumatic memory of what happened to her father, giving her an anxiety attack, as Duck mourns over his father’s dead body and confronts Clem about what she’d done. In this scenario, Duck and Clem’s relationship is greatly damaged for the time being, but can be restored later as Duck gets older and understands why Clementine made that call.
If you chose to let Kenny kill Jane, Duck is relieved, albeit shocked by what his father had done. Sarah is frightened of Kenny’s ruthlessness, and is distrustful of him from then on. You aren’t given the opportunity to leave Kenny behind, but you can still go into Wellington without him later.
A while later, into season 3, Clementine cuts some of Sarah’s hair for safety, like Lee taught her to.
Sarah lost her glasses while fleeing from a pack of walkers, so her vision isn’t as good as it used to be and she’s struck with dizziness constantly, another factor to keep her away from fights most of the time.
If Clem and the others stayed with Kenny instead of going into Wellington, he not only teaches Clementine how to drive, but also teaches Duck how to properly handle a rifle, which he picks up surprisingly fast. Before dying, he also teaches him how to hunt.
As age comes to him, Duck quickly abandons his loud, childish ways, and becomes a strong survivor and a cunning marksman. Kenny jokes that his little duckling is now flying off the water.
Kenny also teaches all of them how to properly handle a baby and all the care needed to keep AJ healthy and happy. Even though it takes a while for her to pick up on everything - and to be able to even carry AJ without getting a bit panicky -, Sarah loves looking out for him once she gets the hang of it. It takes her mind off of everything else going on around her, and they can all agree she looks like a complete different person when she allows herself to relax, picks AJ up in her arms and gives him cute baby talks.
Being older than Clem, Sarah is the first one she could possibly confide to when she ‘starts bleeding’. Sarah is a little (and by a little I mean utterly) embarrassed to talk about that, since she wasn’t ever given a proper explanation on why that happened to her either, but she tries her best to convince Clem that it’s not a big deal - it’s just a bit gross and painful.
When they tried to scavenge the New Frontier’s medicine for AJ, Sarah didn’t take part in it. Despite how much she loved AJ, the thought of going against their rules was beyond her. Of course, she wouldn’t tell on them, but she wouldn’t go along with their plans either.
Sarah was reluctant to leave The New Frontier after Clementine and Duck were kicked out for stealing their medicine. She didn’t want to live out in the woods anymore; without food, or water, or safety, and wanted a place to call home - and to stay with AJ in his final moments. She tried to convince them to take them back, but of course they wouldn’t listen.
Sarah attempts to escape with AJ once she realizes he’s alive and well, and that the illness is gone. The New Frontier catches her in act, and questions her for her treachery. They’re both left at the McCaroll Ranch, not long after.
When Clementine and Duck meet the Garcias, Duck gets to experience what it feels like to be jealous for the first time in his life, as he can’t get over Clem and Gabe’s strangely close bond and tries to step in the middle of it at every given opportunity. He blames it on protective sibling instinct, since he didn’t see Clem under a romantic light.
Come season 4, Clem and Duck have reunited with both AJ and Sarah at the ranch. Duck’s hunting has managed to keep them alive for a good while, even though they need to raction their food very strictly in order to stay alive.
Sarah is nearing young adulthood, and is now more secure of herself and can manage her emotions better, even if anxiety still strikes her more often than not. She can now kill walkers with more ease when necessary, and has a small knife as a weapon of choice; sharp enough to kill, but compact enough to not feel like a killer’s weapon.
She has developed good cooking and nursing skills, and even though they rarely have any medicine, she can improvise stitches and patches with very little material, one of the very few things she got out of The New Frontier, as she sometimes watched Dr. Lingard work when he was not drugged.
Sarah and Duck become polar opposite influences on AJ. Duck would be in favor of teaching him to preserve his own life at all costs, never hesitate, and justify his actions. Sarah, on the other hand, has never been supportive of violence and would stand by thinking before acting, and only resorting to killing when absolutely necessary. This polar dynamic would affect either of them after AJ pulled the trigger on Marlon at the school’s yard, depending on Clementine’s choice to teach AJ to justify or regret his actions.
At Ericson, Sarah wouldn’t talk much to the rest of the kids, and would rather stay on her own as she usually did. She would be very interested in bonding with Ruby, as she also shared the passion for nursing, but would be very intimidated by her attitude at first. Clementine would help her befriend Ruby, who she soon realizes to be really nice and sweet.
Duck wouldn’t get along with anyone at first, mostly because he’s very cold and shut to anyone else except Sarah, Clem and AJ. Clem could also help him make friends, even though it wouldn’t work out well at first. He’d be very dismissive of others’ attempts to befriend him, for the most part.
Duck would absolutely hate Louis at first glance. From the moment he started serenating Clementine, he knew he’d hate that guy’s guts.
Louis does his best to earn Duck’s respect. They’re eventually sent on a hunting party together, and Louis compliments his skills with the rifle, dissing Aasim’s “old fashioned grandma bow” and telling him to grade up. Duck chuckles and compliments him in return on the traps he’d built around the forest, but trying to keep it very lowkey. They eventually become good friends, after a short while.
He’d be very fond of Mitch and Willy. Willy reminded him of himself when he was young. and Mitch’s knife skills catched his eyes almost instantly.
Duck would love Rosie. He had a dog a little before the apocalypse started, which he loved beyond belief. Seeing a friendly dog again after so long made him instantly love her.

Tag: @coloursintheblur , @thelysstener
And here we go!
FADE IN:
INT. NEYDOLYA’S NEW HIDDEN LAIR.
The aftermath of the RAVEN MONSTER had passed. VODNIK, slimy and sneaky frogman and right hand to the disgraced Fate NEYDOLYA. He returns to his mistress’s side and gives full reports.
NEYDOLYA
Vodnik… your reports.
VODNIK
Mistress Neydolya, I’ve come to report that the ritual by the Necromancers brought him back.
NEYDOLYA
A successful mission, presumed. Do you have what is required of the spell?
VODNIK
Yes, mistress. (He presents her with a book with the ritual circle drawn and list of ingredients next to it.)
She grabs the book and looks over it.
NEYDOLYA
Good. The Empath Witch?
VODNIK
The news of the Black Beast’s return had sent her into a state of rage. Her mind fractured separating her core emotions.
FLASHBACK: VODNIK had followed JUSTIN & VIOLET holding a knocked out EDITH.
NEYDOLYA
Interesting. Empath Magic has that capability. Search the archives, there may be an item that has a similar ability. What shall we do with the Princess?
VODNIK
A demon of her own design, her ice, her fire, and her fear.
CUT TO:
INT. JUSTIN’S PRIVATE QUARTERS. MID-MORNING
It was mid-morning, the sun was shining, and JUSTIN was in his private quarters. He conversed with ENOCH.
JUSTIN
Enoch, open Diary Recording. Nox Universe. 582. New entry.
ENOCH
Diary Entry Number 8. Recording begins.
JUSTIN
It’s been a couple of weeks now in this universe. I made amazing new friends and a world full of magic and possibly beyond. Recently fought a raven mutant monster. Noemi and Argento have soul summoned him by accident… glad he found some new development in himself. I wonder what will happen this day. (He falls silent.) Stop recording.
VIOLET comes into his private quarters slowly.
VIOLET
Justin? I need to talk.
JUSTIN
Come on in.
They both sit down together.
JUSTIN (cont’d)
What’s up?
VIOLET
There’s this person… that I… I… I…
JUSTIN
Like a lot?
VIOLET already feeling awkward enough just shuts her mouth up. Shakes her head up and down answering his question. JUSTIN smirks with excitement. VIOLET felt a little awkward due to the fact she doesn’t open up to many people and with someone that’s an alien. She felt like the only person she could talk too was him.
JUSTIN
Who? Boy? Or Girl? (He looked at her as if he was inspecting clues written on her face ) Girl? Isn’t it?
VIOLET nods again.
JUSTIN (cont’d)
Someone new? Someone you’re close to?
VIOLET
Someone I’m close to.
JUSTIN
Oh, lovely. Uh, military officer?
VIOLET
She’s not in the military.
JUSTIN
Oh, okay, uh. So personal then?
VIOLET was silent but was looking at a plant in the corner of the room. JUSTIN realizing who she likes very much his jaw drops.
JUSTIN (cont’d)
Noooooo… No. No. Really?!
Drawn back from his words, VIOLET was scared.
VIOLET
WHAT?! What?!
JUSTIN
Is it… is it Edith?
There was a slight smile on his face, VIOLET became rather shy and had a pinkish red tone flushing her cheeks. The feeling of embarrassment and feelings of lov- lov- lo- liking someone a lot. Her face squished from liking someone a lot and embarrassment she tries to hide her face with both hands. A smile was finally formed on JUSTIN’S face as he goes to sit next to her and comfort her.
JUSTIN (cont’d)
Hey, no, no. It’s okay.
He was rather caring and supportive.
Dude, you like Edith?
VIOLET
Yeah…
JUSTIN
V! That’s great! It’s amazing!
VIOLET
Thanks…
JUSTIN
Look I know you’re nervous and like I told Noemi. I was so afraid and nervous too. I fell in love with Hoku since I attended high school on Earth. I… uh… it was her eyes. Those shining brown eyes that reminded me of the stars.
VIOLET
That sounds… sweet of you for Hoku. But I can’t express it to her, I’m afraid…
JUSTIN
Again I know how you feel. Even my daughter felt exactly the same way when she met her boyfriend.
VIOLET
Wait you have a daughter?
JUSTIN
Adopted. But she’s still my little girl. Despite being a similar age to her.
VIOLET
She’s a hundred too?
JUSTIN
No, just a regular Panguan girl. She’s only 17. But anyways… let me help you out.
CUT TO
INT. LAPIS FORREST. MID-MORNING
Both VIOLET & EDITH with a picnic basket in hand are walking toward the Lapis Forrest. VIOLET felt the feelings of nervousness. Something she was unable to feel before due to the fact she is trained to face things beyond terrifying than this. As well as being both Princess and Commander, to an entire kingdom. But this… this was nothing compared to fighting other witches and wizards and facing an entire kingdom.
VIOLET has a quick flashback:
FLASHBACK:
JUSTIN
Ok! What does Edith like?
VIOLET
Uh… gardening, libraries, tea, people, puzzles, questions…
JUSTIN
I meant… on a date but that’s good. Where does she like to spend her time?
VIOLET
The Lapis Forrest.
JUSTIN
Maybe a picnic?
VIOLET
She loves picnics.
JUSTIN
Then great! Start off with a picnic!
CUT TO:
INT. EDITH’S FAVORITE SPOT. MID-MORNING
VIOLET distracted trying to remember what to do, EDITH had already set up the picnic set.
EDITH
Violet? Are you okay?
VIOLET was caught zoning out. EDITH motions her to sit on the blanket.
VIOLET
What? Oh, sorry a bit distracted. (She sits)
EDITH
You okay?
VIOLET
I’m fine. How was your day?
EDITH
I don’t know really, the day has just begun but I’m pretty much happy that you asked me to go on a picnic. Want to go the Bazaar later?
VIOLET
I’d love that.
VIOLET & EDITH are enjoying their picnic, filled with their favorite foods and drinks.
EDITH
Can you really believe it?
VIOLET
Believe what?
EDITH
Justin… him being an alien and all that. Space. There’s really more out there in the universe.
VIOLET recalls to a flashback of EDITH on Gaia. VIOLET recalls a memory of EDITH and LEANA both holding hands of LEANA. Being two big sisters to her, they had watched the stars while a night on the town.
VIOLET
Yeah… I couldn’t believe it either.
EDITH
You were quite harsh with him too.
VIOLET
I was still learning how to trust him. Plus a boy spouting about aliens and space and different universes isn’t exactly normal for us.
EDITH
True… but he turned out to be a good person.
VIOLET
He is a good man… he brought new experiences for us.
EDITH
Time travel! Universe travel! He took you to see Clementine…
VIOLET
I know… despite what happened… I know he was trying to be kind…
EDITH gets closer to her to comfort her. VIOLET'S inner thoughts made her blush.
EDITH
Sorry…
VIOLET
NO! Don’t be. I just miss her, ya know? Wishing I had more time and all but I know she’s in a better place.
EDITH
That’s good… and she’s probably watching over you right now.
VIOLET looks at her scars and smiles.
VIOLET
I know.
The feeling of happiness surrounded their soon to be a fun-filled day.
CUT TO:
INT. LAPIS BAZAAR. AFTERNOON
The Lapis Forrest was this unique beauty within itself. It was home to a species of tree that produces blue buds when flowering. Just like the color of lapis lazuli. The leaves are a very deep green. There were huge rocks of Lapis Lazuli everywhere as well.
In the Bazaar, there was filled with magical creatures here and there and humans as well. A peaceful coexistence, everyone acknowledges VIOLET as their princess with greetings and bowing.
EDITH
Famous as always.
VIOLET
Well… I am a princess. (She smiles with pride)
EDITH laughs and smiles, she sees something catching her eye and sees gemstones which make her overall happy. She eyes a simple and basic quartz crystal on the vendor’s table.
EDITH
QUARTZ! (A smile was glued on her face)
She holds it and sees it change color, to Mellow.
VENDOR
Are you an Empath, if I may ask?
EDITH
I am!
VENDOR
Then that is the perfect gemstone for you. That quartz is enchanted as a sort of aura looker. You can see their emotions.
The gemstone was imperfect but EDITH loved it anyway. She looks through the clearness and saw the VENDOR’S aura showing mellow.
EDITH
Cool!
VENDOR
That will be a 15 Units.
EDITH checks her wallet but was short on cash.
EDITH
Aw man… I don’t have enough units.
VIOLET sees her sad face and steps in, holding 15 units. Their coin currency were metal thin rectangles.
There were huge rocks of Lapis Lazuli everywhere as well.
VIOLET
Fifteen Units, here ya go.
The VENDOR shocked by her presence, he bows.
VENDOR
Princess Violet!
VIOLET
Hello, my lovely subject.
VENDOR
You have graced me with your presence, your highness. Please take the quartz in honor of you my princess.
She places the units on the table.
VIOLET
No. You are a hardworking man. You deserve to be paid for what you do. Please.
He bows and EDITH takes the gemstone and she holds it in both hands. Scrutinizing it and holding to her eye and looking through it. She looks at VIOLET and sees her current aura, it was all pink and with EDITH’S magic it amplified it. Seeing the emotion of love. The excitable EDITH curious as always smiles after the discovery.
EDITH
V? (She steps closer to her) You like someone? (She whispered)
Surprised and scared by the question, VIOLET had believed EDITH knew her feelings for her.
VIOLET
How did you know?
She was scared and embarrassed that her true feelings were revealed.
EDITH
Is it a prince?!
Showing some relief, she answers.
VIOLET
No. It’s not a prince.
EDITH
Knowing you no prince can win your heart. A Military man?
VIOLET
Uh… no.
EDITH
Oh my… a normal boy?
VIOLET nods and shows embarrassment.
EDITH (cont’d)
A NORMAL BOY! A princess and a simple boy. That reminds me of a fairy tale momma read to me once. TELL ME! TELL ME!
VIOLET
We met… uh… we met during a trip to a Blacksmith. Father was making a request for a blade to be made once I reached eighteen. He was the son of the blacksmith… and I thought he was handsome.
EDITH
That’s so adorable! YOU SHOULD MEET HIM AGAIN!
VIOLET
I don’t think I can.
EDITH
Don’t deny your feelings V… You’ll never know how he truly feels.
VIOLET
Edith… you know me… I’m not raised by my emotions… everything I am I was just… I don’t know! (She became emotional) I’m a Princess and a military commander… I trained myself to be serious and…
EDITH
You wear a heart of steel.
VIOLET
Yeah…
EDITH
But knowing you… determined as always. You’ll find a way to show that handsome… handsome boy love you.
VIOLET
Yeah…
CUT TO:
INT. JUSTIN’S PRIVATE QUARTERS
JUSTIN doing research as he has a plate of food and soda next to a fancy glass cup. VIOLET rushes in and was extremely worried. She hugs JUSTIN to which he responds to treat her like a big baby.
JUSTIN
Hey! How was the picnic? Was it bad?
VIOLET
Not it was good…
She sounded like a child as she said her sentences like a child.
JUSTIN
Then why are you upset?
VIOLET
Because… she… almost found out I liked her… (She pouts)
JUSTIN
Did she?
VIOLET
No… she saw my aura with this gemstone that amplified her magic. It was pink… I was in love.
JUSTIN smiles sits her down on a chair.
JUSTIN
That’s good! Did you tell her?
VIOLET
No… I made up someone…
JUSTIN rubs his face with his right hand.
JUSTIN
Are there any further plans?
VIOLET
I don’t know…
JUSTIN
I think you should tell her.
VIOLET jumps out of her seat grabbing JUSTIN by his shirt.
VIOLET
No! I can’t Justin!
JUSTIN
But why?
VIOLET
Because I can’t do it! I don’t think I can do it! (She starts to cry)
Tears were falling down her face.
I am just a princess… and a soldier… and I’m complicated! Edith wants normal! And simple! And everything else normal! I’M NOT NORMAL! I AM EVERYTHING COMPLICATED!
She cries in JUSTIN’S shoulder to hide her face. He caressed her back to make her feel better.
How can someone so beautiful have so much power over my heart?
JUSTIN
It’s called love… it’s the most complex feeling in the world and yet it makes you feel so happy. And I can’t believe you said that about her.
VIOLET
Said what?
JUSTIN
You called her beautiful.
Despite the tears, that little sly comment made her smile.
VIOLET
She really is… how can someone like that ever love someone so complicated as me?
JUSTIN
Love suffers long and is kind.
VIOLET
Where’s that from?
JUSTIN
A thing called the Bible. It’s an Earth thing.
VIOLET laughs.
VIOLET
What am I gonna do?
JUSTIN
You get her attention. How’s a dinner in the Lapis Forrest? Any good spots?
VIOLET
Um… there’s this spot that would be nice for a dinner date. It’s by a stream and it’s a huge space.
JUSTIN
Sounds perfect. Enoch, do you still have the Digital Construction Box?
ENOCH
Of course, Captain.
ENOCH makes the item appear on the table through digital transport. JUSTIN grabs the box and throws it in the air catching it.
JUSTIN
You ready?
VIOLET
I guess…
JUSTIN
No. (He kneels before her) Violet Choi. Look at me.
She does so and looks at him in the eyes. Her face showing a somewhat of wallowing sadness and shame. JUSTIN’S face held this slight smile but didn’t give off the sense of happiness. He held much of his breathe in as it was too raspy. His heart had opened to Violet as he spoke about the one girl that he honestly and truly loved.
JUSTIN
Again… I know what this feels like. You are beyond… terrified. Despite being something so impossible. That somebody so normal as Edith… can make all the difference in our lives so much better. I was scared, afraid that I would mess up… but I told her because I couldn’t stand the longing and the aching pain of my heart. Now, she loves me… somebody I believed I wasn’t worthy enough for… somebody who always had their heart open just for me.
His heart was worn as if it were a crown and laid out for Violet to see. What he had spoken was all too true for her as well, as is with everyone else who experiences love, I guess in some cases.
JUSTIN (cont’d)
So please don’t say, “I guess” say “I’m ready.” because deep down you love her… and somewhere along the way, you won’t know if she feels the same way.
VIOLEt had raindrop type of tears, she still held a serious face but had that sadness attached to it.
VIOLET
I want to tell her so bad… but I can’t. My heart feels locked… and it stops me from telling how I truly feel.
JUSTIN
I think I can help with that.
JUSTIN breathes in and puts both hands together, he breathes out and his eyes glow orange. Using his aura manipulation to unlock his Empath powers. He places his right index and middle finger on VIOLET’S forehead. Sending a wave of energy to her heart, as the orange energy zooms straight to her heart as it glows ever so brightly through her skin. Showing a little animation of a keyhole on her heart and it was magically unlocked.
VIOLET felt different, her heart was… lighter… no more steel, no more hiding behind the armor she built so long ago. She stood up from her chair and smiled.
VIOLET
I feel different… I feel… uh…
JUSTIN
Happier? (He smiles awkwardly)
VIOLET
I think so… (She turns to Justin) Huh… you handsome Jus.
JUSTIN
Thank you… (He laughs a little) Violet, I think it worked.
VIOLET
How?!
JUSTIN
You complimented me… you rarely do that.
VIOLET realizing this had her eyes prop up like a map being opened up and down.
VIOLET
You’re right… I… I am happy. I feel happy! And… I love Edith Nox! (She closes her mouth)
Realizing she said that aloud, she reached a new level of happiness. She jumps for joy and hugs JUSTIN.
VIOLET (cont’d)
I’m happy! (She says with glee)
JUSTIN
That’s amazing! Now… let me ask you this. What would Edith like on a dinner date?
VIOLET thinks to herself.
VIOLET
She loves music.
JUSTIN
Do you guys have any love songs? Like before the apocalypse?
VIOLET
There are several… but I don’t think they’d be good.
JUSTIN smirks again, now holding his phone in his hand.
JUSTIN
(He smiles) Luckily you have a friend, who's an alien, from another universe. Who also happens to live on Earth.
VIOLET
This is gonna be perfect. (She smiles once more)
CUT TO:
INT. ASTRIFEROUS GROVE. NIGHT
The stage has been set, no literally. JUSTIN had used the 3D Digital Construction Box and digitally built a wooden deck that filled the surroundings of the grove. Complete with a table meant for VIOLET & EDITH and a piano. JUSTIN had set up fairy lights along the surrounding trees to help with the lighting. To accent the glowing and enormous lapis lazuli rocks.
There were other lights to help brighten up the stage. The sound of the stream nearby made things seem so peaceful. Everyone was there, JUSTIN, NOEMI, PERIWINKLE, ARGENTO. They all had a hand in helping to make this date perfect. The Wooden Deck also came with a perfect kitchen, to which JUSTIN had the ultimate experience of knowing how to cook, having spent time with his adopted human father.
JUSTIN had prepared a series of Hawaiian foods, due to growing up in Hawaii for a few years of his life. From appetizers to dessert, it was all prepared. NOEMI & ARGENTO have dressed accordingly as waiter and waitress.
JUSTIN
You guys ready?
NOEMI
This is gonna be great! I still can’t believe Violet likes Edith!
ARGENTO
Ok! First Thanks for inviting me! Second, (She turns toward Justin) You’re an alien! I can’t believe that! Three, this is so friggin romantic! (She squeals joyfulness with each sentence)
PERIWINKLE
THIS IS REALLY PRETTY! I CAN’T WAIT!
JUSTIN
We’re all ready! Noemi, Argento! You are the waiters and you shall deliver the food! Peri, I want you to take them to their seats after that set the mood. (He whispers in her ear)
They all break, as the food had already been prepared and they take their places. VIOLET & EDITH had shown up with EDITH wearing a blindfold.
EDITH
Where are we going?!
VIOLET
It’s a practice dinner… when I meet with the boy again…
Having seen JUSTIN in the distance and PERIWINKLE on a stepping stool near her hand. She was the Restaurant Host. VIOLET takes the blindfold off of EDITH and both smile. EDITH takes her excitement to a new level, as her containment was held by VIOLET’S hands who she placed on EDITH’S shoulders.
VIOLET
Hi Peri! Our reservations?
PERIWINKLE
Right, this way you two!
She steps off her stool and holds both VIOLET & EDITH’S hands. Standing in the middle of both of them, leading them to the only table in the center of the huge deck. They both sit on the chairs, and PERIWINKLE had presented them with the menu of what’s to come.
PERIWINKLE
Welcome to… Astriferous Grove! Chef Justin has prepared an alternate universe main course from his universe. Your waiters will be my big brother, Noemi and the love of his life Argento.
JUSTIN had some lyricless music, play as it was a simple tune, a peaceful beat. (Play Monday Loop by Tomppabeats until you see stop) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2z8CSRP_ok) PERIWINKLE summons her wind constructed wings and rises to the sky. She sets the mood, she manipulates the wind with her magic. Creating a light breeze having the trees sway to the beat of the music. NOEMI & ARGENTO show up as waiters, handing them the menu of what to expect to eat.
NOEMI
For your appetizers, expect a… (He grabs the menu from Edith) Spicy Ahi… Poke (Po-kay) and a Spam Musubi.
ARGENTO For the main course, Loco Moco. A bed of rice topped with a cooked burger patty and a sunny side up egg. Drenched with gravy with hints of chili flakes due to the liking of spiciness.
NOEMI
And for dessert. Malasadas, Coco Puffs, Chocolate Hau- Haupia… Pie. With Shave Ice.
ARGENTO
Let’s start off with drinks. Water?
EDITH
I’d love some water! (She speaks with a boyish voice.)
VIOLET
Water as well, please.
NOEMI with his wings flies over to the kitchen counter and holds a plated dish to carry the cups of water. ARGENTO placing them down on their specific side of the table. They both disappear to the kitchen leaving EDITH & VIOLET to talk alone. Having the uncaged excitement she bursts with such happiness.
EDITH
OH MY GOD, THIS IS SO FRICKEN ROMANTIC AS EDEN!
VIOLET smiles.
EDITH (cont’d)
DUDE YOU’RE SMILING! (She wiggles in her seat)
VIOLET
I know I am. (She laughs)
EDITH
Everything about this place is perfect! The glowing lapis lazuli! The little lights! The swaying breeze and the music! AND FOOD FROM A DIFFERENT UNIVERSE! AH!
VIOLET
I’m glad you love it! (She smiled)
EDITH
Love it? I’m infatuated with this! This is so romantic! Wish someone would do this for me.
VIOLET
Well… since you're my dinner date right now… I’m doing this for you.
EDITH
Why thank you, your highness!
NOEMI & ARGENTO return with the appetizers, a bowl of Spicy Ahi Poke (Po-kay), and a spam musubi. Both grab a fork and dig into the first dish. The forks stabbed into the dish, the prongs had easily pierced the raw tuna marinated with sriracha mayonnaise. Cutting part of the rice with it and scooping it up and taking the first bite. Their eyes brighten as their taste buds had taken the first bite.
The taste of the spicy ahi was unique. The cold and raw tuna had sent that chill, it was as if there was dance was going on. The combined spice from the sriracha mayo, combating with the chill and made it all too delectable. The crunch of the sliced up scallions was heard and the small bed of rice of its warm heat calms both elemental flavors of spice and chill. Leaving behind the everlasting heat, but the chill that was a simple breeze.
VIOLET
(With her mouth full and eyes closed) That’s so good!
EDITH had probably seen the face of God… well, in this case, she already has seen them. She was the same as VIOLET eyes closed and internally happy with her mouth full. They finished the bowl, holding their faces.
EDITH
OH MY GOD, THAT’S THE TASTE OF HAWAII?! I LOVE IT! (She had tears of joy.)
The move on to the Spam Musubi, this rectangle sushi like creation. This version is shown two spams, one of each on both top and bottom. Wrapped in the middle was a seaweed wrap, the spam had a lightish brown sauce underneath.
NOEMI
Justin suggests eating this with your hands. Better experience.
They do so, and their first bite was… well, it was delicious. The saltiness of the spam was laid out as a bed on their tongues. The sweet teriyaki sauce made the salt taste all to better. The moistness of the seaweed complimented the heat of the rice. They were in love all over again, knowing the taste of Hawaiian food made this dinner date all too delectable.
NOEMI & ARGENTO had taken away their appetizer plates and return to the kitchen. Where JUSTIN had been all too articulate with serving them their main course.
JUSTIN
Did they enjoy?!
NOEMI
They did!
JUSTIN
Awesome! I have some plates for you guys too. Peri is actually eating the ones made for her right now. (He points to his right)
PERIWINKLE had her eyes closed as she had gone to Food Heaven.
JUSTIN (cont’d)
Just finish serving them and you guys get to enjoy your plates.
NOEMI & ARGENTO both look at each other and grab the main course. Loco Moco. A dish with a bed of steaming rice topped with a cooked burger patty and a sunny side up egg. With gravy poured over all the dish. VIOLET & EDITH grab knives and forks.
They dig in immediately, the heat from the patty and rice sent the sensation of a fire steaming in their mouths. The yolk of the egg was cut open as the slice let the yolk runs down every inch of the dish. The yolk had made the gravy more delectable and the chili flakes kicked in the spiciness added to the dish. They felt the same feelings as before.
Dessert had arrived immediately, as NOEMI & ARGENTO were so eager to try JUSTIN’S cooking. They take away their dinner plates and immediately return to the kitchen. They see their plates dinners ready and rises up to Food Heaven.
Desert for VIOLET & EDITH was sugar galore. The Malasadas was like biting off a piece off a cloud of fluffiness. The fluffiness of the bread had released pockets of warmness on their taste buds. The sugar complimented the taste as the sweetness added an entire level.
They move onto the Coco Puffs, it was chilled to the point where the bread had this stale-ish taste. Although the cream filling inside chilled inside made the taste of it ultra better. VIOLET had taken a like to the custard coco puff, as it oozed custard filling. As well again, the chill of the desert. While EDITH enjoyed the chocolate cocoa puff as the chocolate filling was a different taste.
The penultimate one was this gorgeous looking pie with whipped cream covering a haupia layer and chocolate filling inside. IT too was chilling and the coldness of the desert was all too tasteful. VIOLET loving every single cold desert, she hadn’t noticed that her ice magic was crawling up on her. EDITH was a major sweet tooth and couldn’t stop eating and wanted more.
EDITH
THIS IS SO GOOD! (She cries out)
VIOLET
Can we just live in Justin’s universe?! I WANT HAWAII FOOD FOREVER!
Their last and final dessert was Shave Ice. A Hawaiian snow cone, but is way massive than what normally people expect. The colors of the rainbow surrounded it. Eating ice with different flavors was rather addicting, as the colors laid down on their tongues and the over sprinkled sugar had caused them to go into a state of insanity for the moment.
The Dinner Date had ended, both VIOLET & EDITH were full. Sitting on their chairs like they eat half of a feast made for kings and queens from near and far.
EDITH
I’m so full… (She rubs her tummy as she moans in agony)
VIOLET
Me too… but it was all worth it.
EDITH
Yeah… it was. (She smiles a little but places her head on the table)
JUSTIN appears near their table. (Monday Loop STOPS PLAYING)
JUSTIN
I suggest you guys move around to help with the digestion.
He nudges VIOLET, motioning her to a dance floor near the stage. JUSTIN suddenly appears at the piano, ready to play a song. He speaks into a mic.
JUSTIN (cont’d)
Alrighty… this lovely night special night for a Princess and her soon to be the love of her life. Uh… what his name Violet?
VIOLET
Um… uh… Edward… Edward Lux.
EDITH
Aw, cute!
JUSTIN
Alright. Let’s dance.
JUSTIN places both hands on the piano keys, ready to play. Feeling the ivory material under his fingertips. He plays the song Your Song by Elton John.
JUSTIN (cont’d)
Uh… grab a partner.
Being that VIOLET & EDITH were the only ones on the dance floor. They realized JUSTIN meant the two of them to dance.
VIOLET
Oh… I think he means you and me.
EDITH
Oh, makes sense. Considering were the only ones on the dance floor and since I am filling in for Edward. May I have this dance? (she does a bow as respect)
VIOLET smiles and returns the bow and they begin to dance. JUSTIN begins to play the song. He sings the song which surprises everyone around, hearing a voice of what some would describe as an angel or an even a god. He didn’t prefer either title despite literally being a god himself. He was just a simple alien boy playing and singing music.
VIOLET (V.O)
Justin, you always surprise everyone, don’t you? (She smiles)
EDITH
OH MY EDEN! HE CAN SING TOO?!
They danced to the song, suddenly they see waves of colorful light of the sound of the song. They look at on and continue to dance. EDITH with her magic senses the feelings of happiness all around. VIOLET inside was having the time of her life. Dancing with the girl she deeply, deeply loves.
After the dance, JUSTIN speaks again.
JUSTIN
I’d like to make a mention of my little sister, Hathor. Who is an amazing artist and comes from a planet where art is taken to a whole new level. Violet… I think it’s time to say what you need to say.
VIOLET comes to the stage and is handed the microphone by JUSTIN.
VIOLET Ok… um… I’m not very good at this. But… uh… I never admitted something like this before… so please just… uh… bear with me,(She breathes in, then out.) I love you. I know that’s so broad and out there but… I really and truly love you. The first time I met you, I hated you. It was unreasonable and I… I’m so so sorry. I blamed you for the one thing I couldn’t control… and I felt so terrible about it. But over the course of our story, we became friends. You defeated the one thing I couldn’t and gave me a reason to keep going despite all the painful and aching memories. And that… after all that… my heart just longed for you. You filled the missing piece of me that was ripped away by that monster. And I held this in for so, so long, and I can’t wait any longer.
She steps off the stage and walks up to EDITH. Her eyes were teary-eyed, like shiny stars. Gleaming with the colors of the glowing lapis lazuli. Her heart of steel along with ice had been unlocked and melted away. It was gleaming every essence of “True Love” had resonated.
VIOLET (cont’d)
Edith Nox… I love you.
EDITH’S heart had stopped for that one moment. Her magic revealed to her senses that VIOLET’S aura was glowing pink aka love. Actual and true love for her. JUSTIN plays the piano, playing song Can’t Help Falling In Love by Elvis Presley. VIOLET steps a few paces back and begins to sing the song.
EDITH begins to cry tears of joy after feelings of VIOLET even more through the song she sang. NOEMI, ARGENTO & PERIWINKLE dance in a circle with all hands together. The songs ends and VIOLET sees EDITH standing in the same spot, unresponsive.
VIOLET (cont’d)
Look… I know this was a huge surprise… but I don’t know… I love you and if you don’t share the same feelings I understand.
She begins to ramble but EDITH taking her by surprise gives her a kiss. NOEMI, ARGENTO, & PERIWINKLE cheer for them. JUSTIN sits on his piano chair and smiles at the fact this mission was a total success. With their heads pressed against each other and eyes closed.
EDITH
I love you too, Violet Choi.
She laughs which makes VIOLET give her a kiss in return.
Hidden within the darkness was the shadow of the slime and sneaky frog man, VODNIK. With his magic floating orb.
VODNIK
Mistress, we found them.
NEYDOLYA
Start the spell. (She says to herself) It has begun. (She has this malicious smile on her face)
FADE TO BLACK

Day 3: Prom/Marriage
So this is one is longer than the last two, but I find it cute! @twdgrarepairsweek day 3 of that good Marlontine content for #twdgrarepairsweek and bonus points if by the end of this you can guess what Marlon’s favorite candy is. Also, we have some very special guests from season 3, and some cute shit from them too. Hope you enjoy!
------- Marlontine -------
Five years. It’s been five years since Clementine and AJ crashed their car near Ericson’s Boarding School for Troubled Youth and they were saved by the survivors there. Five years since Marlon confided in Clementine about the Delta and what had happened just a year before. Five years since Marlon began to become a better person.
Five years since Marlon, Clem, and AJ went out and captured two Delta soldiers and Marlon confessed what he’d done to everyone. Five years since Clementine was reunited with Lilly. Five years since the Delta tried to free their people and take all the kids and failing, falling back after most of them were dead.
Five years since bombing the Delta’s boat and ambushing them with walkers to kill the last of them except Minerva. Five years since they tried to help Minne, but in turn attempted to kill Clementine and Tennessee for killing her new “family.” Five years since Clem was bitten and AJ brought back Clementine in a wheelbarrow with a missing leg. Five years since she took over Marlon’s position as leader.
Five years since she and Marlon began dating.
It’s been a long ride and it has been amazing, a bit difficult at times, but in the end, it was always worth it. For Marlon, to have her in his arms when they go to bed was always a happy moment for him. She was beautiful, and he was lost in her eyes when she told him this.
“I need to visit Richmond.” She said while they were doing the dishes at the river. She dropped it out of nowhere.
“Richmond? As in Virginia?” He asked.
Clementine nodded.
“Isn’t that where what’s-his-name lives? Javier, right?”
“Yeah. I… I meant to head back there after I saved AJ from the ranch, but I just wanted my last memory with someone I care about to be still alive. So I never did.”
“And you want to go back now?”
“I just want to see if he’s still kicking, and he did promise to teach me about baseball when I came back. I want him to know I’m okay and that I’m out here with you, with AJ, with everyone.”
He understood. It’s something she needed to do. He didn’t blame her. Clementine wasn’t someone to leave things unfinished. It’s one of the things he loved about her.
“Do you want to come with me?” She asked.
Marlon was surprised. He assumed only AJ would go with her, but if she wants him to come, he couldn’t say no.
“Yeah, of course I’ll come with you. Rosie, too, if you want.” He told her. He saw the gears turn in her head. “So you, me, Rosie, and AJ?”
“Actually, I just want you to come with me.”
He was speechless. He didn’t expect that.
“AJ is safe here, and I don’t want to risk that. If something happens to me out there, you’ll be able to get back to the school and AJ’s last sight of me won’t be me dying. I went through it when I was a little younger than he was, with Lee, and I don’t want him to go through that.”
Marlon held her hand. “I’ll keep you safe. I promise.”
Her smile when he said that warmed his heart.
When they got back, Clementine made her announcement that she had to visit an old friend in Richmond, wanting to check on him due to all the wars. She said only Marlon was going with her and that she was leaving Aasim and Violet in charge until they came back.
AJ was upset and she was prepared for that. He didn’t want her to leave. She promised that she’d come back, and she assured him that she’d be okay since Marlon was going with her. AJ came up to Marlon later that day, he said he trusted him. Marlon promised him that he’d to keep her safe.
“If she gets hurt out there…” AJ’s hands curled into fists. “Just… don’t be a dummy.” Even as a ten-year-old, he still used words like dummy.
The next day, Clementine and Marlon boarded the horse they stole from the Delta and headed out, just them. His arms wrapped around her torso as they were on their way towards Richmond.
Their first night, they spent it at an abandoned mall. The first night they realized they could be couple-y and go on a date without the worry of being interrupted by AJ, Rosie, or get barf and gagging sound effects from Violet, Mitch, and the rest of them.
They had a candlelit dinner together, and for a moment, the world hadn’t ended for them. They shared a sweet kiss after dinner then headed to bed together, savoring every cuddling moment they had.
Before they left the next morning, they played a game. One was blindfolded and the other pulled clothing from racks and shelves and dressed the blindfolded person.
They both had a laugh at dressing each other. It was a good time, unfortunately, they had to head out in order to make some good distance on their way to Richmond. Whenever they stayed at a place with clothing, they’d play that game, occasionally snagging some things for everyone back at Ericson’s.
At last, after a week of being on the road, they were at Richmond’s front gates that were still standing tall.
“State your business!” A guard yelled after they dismounted the horse, their hands in the air.
“I’m here to see an old friend!” Clementine yelled back. “He was in charge last time I was here, Javier García!”
“Who are you?”
“If he’s still here, give him my description! He’ll know who I am!” She was glad she brought her hat. Something for him to instantly know she was here.
One guard left, and they waited patiently. The gate began to rise, they could see someone walk forward, and when the gate got high enough to see the person’s face, Clementine’s face softened seeing him and Marlon admired it.
The man’s face smiled as he instantly hugged Clementine.
“Hey, García.” She greeted, hugging him back.
Marlon watched and smirked at the two. He could tell they were both happy to see each other again.
“It’s really good to see you, Clem,” Javier said to her as they pulled away. “God, look at you. You’ve definitely grown up since I last saw you. You look great, especially with that permanent judging scowl gone.”
“You look good, too. I might be more inclined to shave, though,” she said pointing out his beard that has grown since the last time she saw him.
“What? You don’t like it?”
They both chuckled at their banter.
Javier noticed Marlon. “He with you?”
Clementine nodded.
“You both can come in, you’ll have to go through quarantine first. Protocol.”
They both complied with the rules as they were brought inside. It didn’t take long for them to get checked out. Javier soon came to get them.
“I’m guessing that you’re not AJ.” He said to him.
“No, Marlon.” They shook hands.
“AJ is safe. I was able to find him and he’s back home with everyone else.”
As Javier guided the two through Richmond, Clementine proceeded to explain Ericson’s, how she ended up there, and how it operated. Javi was proud of her for being a leader.
While they talked, Marlon noticed a ring on Javier’s finger. It was nice to see somethings still being held up, like marriage. Huh… Marriage… His eyes shifted to Clementine, actively listening to Javier catch her up on Richmond, especially with the wars going on.
He shyly brushed his fingers against hers. Clementine gave him a glance then interlocked her fingers with his. They made it to a house and they walked up the front porch steps and went inside.
“I’m back, and I brought someone!” Javi called. They immediately noticed a boy roughly their age sitting in a chair reading, wearing a beanie that was familiar to Clem.
“Who did you bring-” He looked up and his voice went dry.
Clementine smiled.
“Clem?” He immediately put the book down and ran up to her, hugging her.
“Hey, dork.” She said to him.
“Daddy!”
As the hug ended, Clem saw a young girl, maybe about four, run up to Javi. He scooped her up in his arms as another woman came downstairs.
“I was just about to put her down for a nap!” She said to him. Her expression softened seeing Clementine. She gave her a quick hug.
“We were all worried.” She said to her.
“I know.” Clem pulled away. “I’m sorry. I meant to come back, it was just nice seeing you all alive when I left. Hoped to keep it that way, you know.”
“Who’s this?” The woman asked.
“Oh,” Marlon was so invested in the reunion he forgot he was there. “Marlon.”
He held his hand out, she shook it.
“Kate.”
Then he shifted to the boy.
“Gabe.”
Marlon turned to the girl in Javier’s arms. Clementine was looking at her too, she seemed a bit surprised to see him with a child.
“She’s new.” She said to him.
The little girl hid her face in his shirt.
“And she needs to take a nap,” Kate said as Javi handed her off to her. She headed back up the stairs and the little girl peaked over Kate’s shoulder and shyly waved bye.
“She looks like you,” Clementine said to Javi. “She a handful?”
“At times. She’s shy, for the most part.”
“That’s so cute.” Clementine smiled. “What’s her name.”
Javier beamed. “Amaya. Amaya Marianna Clementine García.”
Clem breathed in shock at the name. Her mouth curled upward slightly. She hugged him, holding back tears.
“You’re going to make me fucking cry!”
She heard him chuckle and felt her boyfriend’s hand on her back. This was a great day!
—————————
“And that’s how we defeated the Delta,” Clementine told Javier. “I mean, it was just that one group, but they haven’t come back so…”
“I hope those fucks are dead.”
It was night time. Javi and Clem were both drinking a can of warm beer, saved for special occasions, out on the porch. They sat on either side of the steps just talking.
“Me too.”
“So how long are you two staying?” Javi asked her.
“A couple days, I have to get back home soon.”
“You enjoying leadership?”
“For the most part. It’s hard at times, but still, it’s nice to have a place to call home you know.”
“I’m glad you and AJ are safe. If anything happens, you’re more than welcome to come here. Technically, I still owe you a car, but if you need anything, I’m here.”
“Thanks, Javi.” Clementine glanced back at the house hearing a door open. Marlon stepped out, closing the door behind him. “Hey.”
“Hey.” Marlon sat down next to her. She leaned against him and he put his arm around her.
“Kate wanted me to let you know that she has the couch set up for us. And that Amaya is asleep so we need to keep it down.”
They both nodded, then Clem turned back to Javi.
“I still can’t believe you named your kid after me.”
He chuckled then his face turned serious. “When you didn’t come back… we assumed the worst. Anytime a walker would near the walls, I’d check to see if you had turned.” Javi said. “I had a feeling you were still kicking somewhere, and I get why you didn’t come back, but I was worried.”
Clem felt Marlon’s hand rub her arm.
“We were thinking about naming her after Mari to honor her, but Kate felt weird about having another girl named Mari and Gabe didn’t want a cousin named after his sister. Then we thought of you and how none of us would be here if it wasn’t for you, but if you did come back, we thought it’d be difficult to differentiate between you both. We both liked Amaya and we decided to give her two middle names, after both of you.” Javi smirked. “She knows about Mari, but when she asked about you, I told her that it was the same name of the toughest girl I knew. She’s wanted to meet you ever since.”
That warmed her heart.
“So if I ever have a kid, do I have to name it after you?”
“You could. Could call him JJ for Javier junior.”
“I’ll be sure to tell him how you got kicked out of baseball and how I saved your ass.”
“I hope your kid has as much sass as you. Just so you get a taste of your own medicine.”
They all shared a laugh.
“I’m heading to bed. My leg needs some time to breathe out of the prosthetic.” She said leaning forward out of Marlon’s hold. “You coming?”
“I think I’ll stay up a bit more. I join you soon. Do you need help?”
“I got it, Melon.”
They shared a quick kiss before Clementine went inside.
Marlon’s gaze stayed on her as the door closed behind her.
“I can’t believe she’s only got one leg now,” Javier said to start a conversation.
“Yeah, it was rough. When AJ brought her back all pale with a cartelized limb, we thought she was dead. If not from the blood loss, then the bite.” Marlon sighed. “Had AJ listened to her… she’d be dead.”
“Has Clem talked about New Frontier at all? Or what they did?”
“She showed me the brand, but she didn’t like to talk about it. I never asked further.”
“Not to worry you, but you should know that she wasn’t in the best place, mentally. She was okay for someone to shoot her at one point.” Javier explained to him. “But she seems happier now, is she happy?”
“I think so. She’s a lot more relaxed now than when I first met her. Her kid’s safe, she’s safe, the leg thing definitely threw her through a loop but, I’d say she’s happy.”
Javier smiled. “I’m glad. She deserves it.”
“She does.” Marlon picked up Clem’s fourth-full beer can.
There was a beat of silence between them.
“So…” That was the sound of a prying uncle. “How long have you and Clementine been together?”
“Five years,” Marlon told him.
“Five years?” He sounded impressed. “So this happened not long after you met her?”
“Well, you don’t meet someone like her every day.” Marlon looked down at the can in his hand. “She helped me out with some bad shit I did, and helped me fix it. She just knew I needed help and I was able to become a better person, honestly, how could I have not fallen in love with her?”
Marlon looked at the ring on Javi’s hand.
“You seem like a good kid. She likes you, that’s all that matters to me.”
“What about you and Kate? How long have you both been together?”
“God, it’s been about eight years now. We got married about two years after Clem left.”
Marlon thought for a moment. “How did you know that she was the one?”
Javier paused. He could tell that he was asking for himself.
“Do you love her?”
“What?”
“Clementine, do you love her?”
“I- I wasn’t asking about…”
Javier smirked. He saw right through him. Marlon knew that. Then he nodded.
“I love her. I love her so much.”
“Then there will come a time when something will happen, it may be with her or it may be with you, but it’ll make you want to be with her for the rest of your life. When you feel that, then you’ll know.”
—————
Ever since he said that Marlon’s been trying to figure out what he meant. He already wanted to be with her for the rest of his life. He told him that and Javier said that the feeling would be different and then he’d know.
That conversation was almost a week old and he was still hung up on it. They were nearly home now. Clementine was happy that she got to reconnect with Javi, but now she was excited to get back to Ericson’s. They found the abandoned mall they stayed on the first day of their trip and decided to settle there and get one last day together with just the two of them.
They spent their time going around the various stores, Marlon pushing Clementine a cart as they picked out stuff to take back to Ericson’s. They grabbed some new toys, nail polish, comics, books, clothes, all while trying to figure out how they were going to get it all back to the school on one horse. As they continued to go through the stores, Marlon’s eye caught on a jewelry corner store. He could see the broken glass and scattered rings and necklaces in the display case. He could only assume people tried to rob the store when everything went down, they probably didn’t get very far.
“Let’s go in there!”
Clementine pointed to a store full of hats, patches, buttons, and other accessories. Marlon snapped out of his gaze and pushed her into the store. He parked Clem right next to a bin full of patches and she began to dig through them. Marlon began to dig into a bin full of buttons.
Clementine climbed out of the cart, putting gentle weight on her prosthetic leg. She then walked over to the counter and sat down on it, she grabbed a needle and thread that was left there and she began to take off her jean jacket.
“Can I sow something on your jacket?”
Marlon smiled at her. “Yeah, sure.” He took off his letterman’s jacket and handed it to her. She quickly sat on the patches she was going to sow.
“I’m going to go look around, okay?”
“Okay. Stay safe, Melon.”
“Of course, KitKat.”
They shared a quick kiss before he left the store. His eyes immediately caught on the jewelry store they passed earlier. He walked inside the corner store, getting a better look at the posters on the wall.
The staged images of a smiling couple, the woman’s hand clearly showing a shiny ring. Diamond-encrusted heart necklaces for thousands of dollars. Rings with chocolate diamonds which made him hungry. Fuck, the shit he’d do for an actual KitKat right now. He looked in the display cases, and Javi’s words came to play again.
“Then there will come a time when something will happen, it may be with her or it may be with you, but it’ll make you want to be with her for the rest of your life.”
He loved her, there’s no doubt about it. Clementine meant everything to him and he knows that she feels the same way. Every day when he wakes up next to her, he’ll always smile. She has made him a better person and the only thing he’s given her in return was love and affection. He only wished he could give her more. Honestly, he didn’t know what she saw in him, but he knew he wanted to be with her forever.
“When you feel that, then you’ll know.”
What else was he supposed to feel though? Maybe they just weren't ready? Maybe marriage was just something for the adults who’ve lived through the old world or for those who were desperate to hang on to something normal. Nothing was normal for them anymore, and unfortunately, the walkers were becoming their new normal. Kids like AJ and Amaya who were born and are growing up is this new age of walkers threatening their lives at every moment.
Marlon huffed as he stormed away from the case. This was stupid. How could he think that marriage was an option for them? Especially for Clem. Her being in a relationship at all was a huge hurdle for her. It’s why they kept it on the down low when they first got together. She’s told him about all the death she’s gotten used to, not to mention why they were even going on this trip in the first place. She was too scared to go back to Richmond in fear of the Garcia’s being dead or watching them die. His relationship with Clem, while five years strong, has yet to outweigh the years of death she’s seen. Him asking her to marry him might be too much.
He kicked some broken glass and it slid over to a few coin-operated toy dispensers. Nothing special about it, he’s just surprised that it hasn’t been ransacked. Then again, who would ransack something that dispenses stickers, small animal figurines, temporary tattoos… and rings…
Marlon took a moment to stare at the cheap, adjustable, fake diamond rings, each in their individual plastic container. The more he stared the more he thought about it. Next thing he knew Marlon muttered a swear as he went to the cash register to find a couple quarters. He went back to the machine and inserted the coins and turned the knob. A plastic container popped out. He opened it to see what he got: a ring with a fake purple gem on it. She loved purple.
He put the ring back in its container and stuffed it in his pocket as he headed back to the store he left Clementine in. It was a stupid idea and she’d probably think it was stupid.
Clementine was humming to herself, he could hear her as he walked back into the store. She was still sitting on the counter, but his jacket was draped around her shoulders as she was sowing a patch on her jacket.
She looked up and smiled when she saw him. Clementine gave his jacket back to him and he put it back on. Marlon quickly noticed the half slice of watermelon on his arm. He smirked at the new patch. Of course she gave him that, she calls him melon and melonhead on occasion. Her way of giving him a fruit name. Marlon looked back at Clementine, watching her put her jean jacket back on. His heart skipped a beat seeing a new patch on her shoulder: the KitKat logo.
Marlon’s mouth was agape as he watched her slowly get off the counter. With the little light they had due to the sun beginning to go down, it made her glow and the way she looked back at him with a smile.
“What?”
He shook his head out of his trance. “Nothing. Just…” Was this what Javier meant? Seeing her, with a KitKat patch, a name that he calls her, on her jacket, a patch she willingly sowed on her jacket, then the lighting, her smile, her eyes shining in the golden hue; it made him fall in love with her again. It made him want to be with her forever. She could only hope she felt the same. “Let’s play that dress up game that we played.”
She took hold of his hand. “Okay.”
They both walked out of the store, going to the nearest clothing shop. Marlon said he’d go first. Clementine blindfolded herself and waited for Marlon to pick something out. Marlon was pretending to look through the clothes, batting the clothes on the racks to make it seem like he was looking, but in reality, he was debating on if he should go through with this. Was he seriously going to propose to her or he should wait? They may never get another moment alone like this.
Fuck it, he loves her. That’s all that matters. He grabbed a purple dress from the rack and brought it over to her. As he was dressing her, his hands were shaking, the weight of the small plastic container in his back pocket suddenly becoming much heavier. Once she was dressed, he pulled the ring out of his pocket and quietly pulled it out of the container as he knelt beside her. Now or never.
“You can look.” he said.
Clementine looked at the mirror in front of her. She liked the color, dresses always reminded her of happier times, especially frilly ones like this. She then turned to Marlon who was on one knee beside her.
“Clementine,” he breathed, taking her hand into his. “When I first met you five years ago, all I could think of was saving you from that wreak. And what you gave back to me was something I can never repay. You’ve made me the person I am today and I’m a better person because of you. Every time I look at you or when I hold you, I just want to protect you and love you… And I want to do that for the rest of my life… that is if you’ll let me.”
Her other hand covered her mouth as his other hand pulled out a ring. He heard her voice hitch.
“Clementine, Kitkat, will you marry me?”
She blinked back tears forming in her eyes before nodding. “Yes! One hundred times yes!”
Marlon slid the ring on her finger as he stood. She launched herself into him for a hug and a passionate kiss. He felt so much love for her and it’s good to know that she felt the same way. They couldn’t wait to come home tomorrow with their new patches and to tell the others that they’re now husband and wife-to-be.

CLEMENTINE BOYDEN
clementine was the daughter of a wealthy business man who had his plans in most of london’s greatest architecture. he was a man of the church, the head of the boyden household and had been secretly relieved to have a sole daughter rather than a rowdy boy to give his inheritance to. though, he soon regretted his wish when his teenage daughter became pregnant by a family friend’s son. mr boyden, who grew angry at the very idea of a baby without marriage, insisted on her giving up the child and being rich or to raise the child and become disinherited. clementine, who had always valued money as life’s biggest asset and more importantly her family business as the ruling lead in her luxurious lifestyle, carried the child till term but had sent the maid of the household to give it to a church, or a courthouse - anywhere far from where she lived. the maid, feeling sorry for the poor babe, left her in the courtroom not far from where she lived so she could take care of the child from quite a distance. she watched intensely, watching how the policeman took her in but never treated her like family. clementine on the other hand, was glad to never hold the baby but due to the clumsy birth and poor medical supplies she never had another child due to becoming sterile. clementine boyden is still alive and runs the business after her father died. she took the lot, and plans to give her estate on to a cousin who lives nearby. she knows nothing of dolly, and hopes to never see a girl with striking features and red hair.
RUSSELL EVERITT
a merchant’s son, russell was always happy to see clementine boyden. he had asked his father if he were to marry her, since the union of two families would do them proud. his father told him that the mr boyden would never allow it, since he was a proud man and wouldn’t see his business go to the everitt family, not when the everitt’s were lower down the social hierarchy. though this news saddened sweet russell he still pursued clementine, ending with them becoming lovers as teenagers. when the pregnancy followed the everitt family knew it was russell’s doing. the news rocked them but they begged clementine not to tell her father of the parentage - though nothing would ever get between a daughter and father like them! when mr boyden found out about russell and his seed, he cut off their finances from the business and soured the family name across london. in a sort of exile, the everitt family moved up north where they found a little fortune and family business in yorkshire. russell never saw clementine again, and assumes that his daughter is simply a loved bastard. he went on to marry, with a family of healthy children which sent him forward in the social world. he died of illness a mere two years ago, the news was expected to close family and friends.
DOROTHEA “DOLLY” MCGREGOR
left on the doorstep of a courtroom, dolly has no love for her family or the idea of family, despite being somewhat ‘adopted’ by the pitt family. the only person she’ ever love with a bond as strong as bone and blood is her son, who she cherishes with her entire heart.. even in her love for her job grows.
BABY FRANCIS MCGREGOR
the baby came into the world with screams and whimpers, born in the early hours of a working day he was held by his mother and the bond emerged. still considered a newborn, francis has his mother’s copper hair and bright eyes to match, though there’s certainly qualities that you’ll find around covent garden...
RICHARD PITT & family, took her in.
richard pitt was a policeman who was working on duty when he turned up to the building to unlock the courtrooms for another day of dull london. tired from arguing with his wife and children over the state of their small, dusty home - he came across a baby who screamed murder against london’s smoke. he took the child inside but not once did he think about taking her home. the pitt family was already far too big for their house, with hands and legs sticking out the windows on family reunions. but richard, a good soul at heart, feared the baby wouldn’t make it to the orphanage but rather to the docks to be silently disposed off. something tugging away at him, he took the kid in but never insisted that she was a daughter or part of the pitt family - who all had dark hair and accents no one could quite place. he was forced to get dolly out of his house when she turned thirteen, husing her out of the way. richard hasn’t seen dolly since and doesn’t long to do so, now he has acted his part for charity. his own family are riddled with disease that has been spreading around his home and neighbouring houses - only time will tell if they’ll make it out the other side.

Title: Hands Of Gold
Pairing: Clementine &&. Violet ( Violetine. )
Genre: Angst, Romance, Tragedy.
Characters: Clementine, Violet, Ruby, Lee Everett ( mentioned ) AJ ( mentioned ), Tennessee ( mentioned ), Louis ( mentioned ), Minerva ( mentioned ).
The first thing that registered in her senses was the scent, like fresh pine and newly turned earth. It was a welcome scent, one that reminded her of home. She breathed deeply, feeling completely at ease, freed from the restrictions of the school and the expectation that she be some sort of role model for the younger generations, free of Lee’s long reaching shadow and the constant feeling of inadequacy, that she would be forever doomed to a miserable life. For a moment, Clementine just relaxed, in the moonlit field, basking in the scent, glad to feel free once again. Her mind lulled, drifting off to who-knew-where, content to breathe in the clean scent of virgin forest, letting her sore muscles rest.
A few minutes later, she felt her presence like a warm blanket on a January night. She was snuggled into her side, burning from within like an inner fire, keeping her warm body and soul. Clementine cracked open one eye slowly, hardly daring, worried she would see something else in her place, that it was all a dream. But no, there she was, sleeping, a serene, secretive little smile curving those delicious lips of hers. “Vi,” she whispered, a soft caress on her own ears. She touched her lips with her fingertips, willing this to be real.
The moment her skin touched the sensitive blush of her lips, her mouth quirked in a happy, sleepy smile. “Clem,” she murmured, the sound of her name in her voice a thrill to all of her senses. She had to stop herself from jumping for joy, so she settled for kissing those wonderful lips, devouring them, losing herself to complete and utter happiness. It was the kind of bliss that was so complete that she thought her soul would leave this world, or maybe that it already had. Beneath her, she chuckled with mischief, wiggling away from her to tease her, tossing her head from side to side to try to avoid her kiss, playing. “You’re terrible,” Violet laughed.
Her wiggling only served to excite Clementine more. She pinned her with her body, pinned her wrists with her hands. Violet settled back and stilled, daring her from beneath the lashes of her eyes, a gaze so glazed over that it seared her straight to her gut. She growled, low in her throat, overcome with desire. “You make me crazy,” she murmured, lowering her face to her neck. “You stay, you go, you stay…” she chastised fondly. “You love me, you love Minnie… How am I supposed to keep you here?” She nuzzled her neck, reveling in the feel of her skin against her face. Stay with me, she willed her.
“I can stay with you here,” she offered, her voice soft, eyelids hooded with love and a hint of desire. She squirmed beneath her, her knees caressing up the insides of her thighs, igniting passions long denied.
Clementine shut her eyes in bliss, charged with electricity, delighting in the way this girl could enliven her so quickly like o one else could. “And where is here?” she purred, cracking open an eyelid. Violet didn’t have to answer, though, for it was then that she saw. Around her towered the moss covered trees and dappled moonlight patches of the grove in which they had spent that first night together, watching the stars on the belltower.
“Impossible,” she whispered breathlessly, overcome with awe.
“Yeah,” Violet said with a giggle. “This is where we first kissed, remember?”
Clementine nodded dumbly. “Yeah. But… how?”
Her hands roamed, disappearing underneath the hem of her shirt, playing with the edges. “Forget about that,” she commanded, nipping at her collarbone. “C’mere. I wanna kiss you all night long. We can dance the night away.”
Clementine frowned, gripping her hands, stalling her. Not that she didn’t want to, but something was not right here. “Violet,” she barked with an air of authority. “Where are we?”
She pouted. “I already told you.”
“No, for real,” she demanded seriously.
She sighed and turned her face away. “I can tell you, but then you’ll be sad. Then you won’t want me anymore.”
“Vi,” Clementine urged more fiercely, grasping her jaw and turning her face toward her, emerald optics meeting amber hues. “There’s nothing that can ever make me stop wanting you. I love you, like no one else ever could, not even Minnie. She could kiss you every day from dawn to dusk and I would never love you any less because I know that you love me.” She dipped then, kissing her tenderly, releasing her hands. “I know,” she whispered against her lips, pressing their bodies together, “that our hearts and souls are entwined. Your lips may lie, but your heart never does.” She pressed her hand to her chest then, felt the powerful drum of her heartbeat. “Ahh,” she sighed with pleasure. “There’s the truth.” She smirked at her playfully.
Her gaze softened. “Clem,” she whispered, her throat constricted. “Don’t make me say it. Please, just don’t.”
Clementine looked down upon her face, so filled with pain and longing. She could stay here forever, with her, frozen in a moment in time that was no longer real, couldn’t be real. If she stayed here, wherever here really was, she would be lying to herself. Somewhere, in another time, she and Violet were not together, not anymore. A war was being waged and she had no idea who was even winning it. She considered swallowing her curiosity and her pride, doing as she wished, to stay here with her until her life force died out. It would be a sweet way to go.
And yet, she needed to know. Perhaps there was still time, to save them both. “Tell me,” she commanded softly, no less powerful for its lack of volume.
Her pupils dilated, blown out by her order. Her body went slack beneath her. “You’re… you’re dying, and I’m already dead,” she barely spoke. “This is a dream.”
Her words struck her like a faceful of ice water. “Dying?” she choked out. “No…” she denied, eyes wide with disbelief. “No, I can’t be dying. I… I…” she stammered, struggling to find the words. Anguish flared. “You told me you loved me, that we would build a home together, you and me.” The memories of that night on the belltower and their moments in the darkness coalesced, reminding her. “You—lied to me! If you loved me, why’d you leave me?!“ She pushed herself to her feet, glaring down at the girl who had deceived her, leaving her emptier than void.
Violet curled up upon herself, holding her knees to her chest, looking troubled. “I didn’t want to! I didn’t’t mean for this to happen!“ she protested, tears forming in her emerald eyes.
“How am I supposed to believe that?” She demanded, tears forming in her own eyes, burning. “Violet… how could you?” Her voice broke. She hated how weak she sounded, how pathetic, but then, she had always managed to soften all of her hard edges. It practically blew her poor heart wide open, priming the tortured thing for total annihilation.
“Clem,” she started helplessly, breathing in deeply. “If it had been any different… if I had only found you in time… if we only just jumped across the bridge together before Minnie could catch up to us, if we had never said goodbye…” she loosed the rest of her breath in one frustrated huff. “I love you more than anything else in the world and I wanted you to be happy, with me.”
You’re dying. This is a dream.
None of this was real. She was not real. Nothing that she said was real. So she turned her back on her. “You’re an illusion,” she declared, feeling her heart growing cold, perhaps for real. After all, somewhere else entirely, she was dying, probably bleeding out from a wound that had inflicted upon his person. “My Violet was never supposed to die. My Violet would never allow me to die.”
“I still wouldn’t—“
“COME BACK TO ME!” Clementine screamed at her, whipping around and crouching down to her level, taking her hands in hers and intertwining their fingers. “Vi… I love you. Please… don’t leave me. We’ve come too far!” She sobbed, her pride be damned, “I… I need you.”
Violet got up to her feet, and they stood in the moonlit field, hand in hand. “Clem… I’m free like a bird now. I can go east, west… it doesn’t matter. I flew past the sunset… and I saw where the world ends. We can fly together someday. But AJ, Tenn, Louis… everyone back at the school needs you. So, keep fighting. I don’t want to see that fire I loved so much about you fade away into nothing but ashes.” She whispered ever so softly, her emerald eyes filled with love and longing for the girl she’d loved and lost.
Clementine looked deeply into her eyes and cupped her cheeks before nodding slowly as a sad sense of understanding filled her. “I promise.” She vowed before leaning in and soon, their lips met, desperately wanting, claiming, consuming, burning them both inside and out. Violet fell backward, dragging Clementine down with her by the shoulders. How easy it was to fall back into each other’s arms, to push the world aside and give in to the throes of passion. “I don’t want to go,” Clementine hissed into her ear as her arms wrapped around her neck.
She kissed her forehead, her cheek, her lips, every inch she could put her lips on. “Just promise-”
“I promise,” she vowed. “Not even death could keep me from you.”
Then, finally, Clementine embraced her, wrapping strong arms around her slim shoulders. She squeezed her back just as fiercely, pressing her palms into her back and burying her face in her chest. Clementine bit back the tears, but they came anyway. The proximity to death made them long to be alive again, and never had they felt more alive than they had with each other. Seeing the destruction, remembering the moments leading up to the last time they had saw each other… only served to make them appreciate their time together, and now that time was ending.
There was no more time.
One final, lingering kiss, and then Violet began to fade away as starlight began lighting her up, the winds of change overwhelming her as she shone more brilliantly than the rest of the stars above them. Silver threads of light crawled up Violet’s arms from her hands, intricate symbols of a language long dead. They made their way across her shoulders and down her chest to a point in her abdomen. It was slowly dismantling her from the inside out, the fruit of her extended life in this world alone. Clementine stared into those green eyes that had once captivated her. She placed her hands over hers, their fingers intertwining one last time.
I’m sorry… I love you… Thank you for everything.
She walked in starlight in another world, and there she lie, among the silver and golden light of the stars, with violet petals circling her as she began leaving this world for the last time. And like the wind, she faded away on a gentle breath warmer than she could remember until there was no one there, leaving her alone under the stars.
When she’d finally awakened, she was in her own bed, attended by Ruby. The fierce red haired medic had told her everything that happened since she’d fell unconscious in the barn. It’d been a miracle that she’d survived after the fever that took her shortly after she’d came into the school on AJ’s wheelbarrow.
“You’re a fighter, Clem,” Ruby praised her, “Don’t ever lose that.”
Clementine nodded slowly at her friend’s words with a smile, “I won’t.”
A few days passed, and after Clementine had managed to get herself to walk properly, she’d ordered Tenn to show her where he buried Violet. He did so, reluctantly, and Clementine took her mare and rode down the riverbank. When she finally found the cross where her true burial place had been, she unmounted and slowly approached it, using her crutches for support. For one blissful moment, her mind was blank, filled only with the quiet music of running water and the harmony of birds in the trees nearby. The peace of it was so beautiful that it actually hurt, too lovely. Violet should still be here with her, but hopefully, they would meet again one day and dance among the stars.
So, she reached for her pockets and gently placed a bouquet of violet flowers on her grave, a sad smile gracing her lips as she prayed to her gods in silence, hoping that somewhere beyond their mortal world, Violet was at peace.
“I… I hope it’s nice where you are. I’ll never forget you, don’t ever forget that. I love you… I love you. I love you.”
Those were the only words she’d had to offer - she knew that words alone could never contain the love she had in her heart for the girl that struck across her own sky like a shooting star one blissful moment of beauty and meaning, until she was gone, but her own sky had been made brighter because of her.
Maybe we’ll learn to fly together someday.
#constellationtracer#( YEAH U H H H H H H H I JUST UGLY CRIED :'DDDDD )#( it's somewhat long but i tried to keep it as short as i could LMAOOOO )#( anyway i hope you like it!! it was a really tragic and a beautiful thing to write!! )#( moral of the story: clementine has one wild imagination and violetine is tragic asf )

Maths, My One True Weakness (Part 2)
SUMMARY:
Naomi meets up with Asa at the public library, as promised. He tutors her as he is supposed to, but she discovered more things about him as their afternoon go on.
The library wasn’t a place she frequently visits. In fact, she had zero memory as to when she came to the town’s public library the last time. She doesn’t hate reading, it’s just that the books she reads are those she has really strong interest in.
A soft creak announced her presence to the middle-aged lady sitting behind the counter. She greeted her with a warm smile, which Naomi greeted back with a slightly more awkward smile, before she returned her attention to the computer. That left Naomi free to roam around the place to find her tutor.
She found him sitting at one of the tables next to the aisle that says ‘Fiction: G-H’, reading a big, thick book that easily splayed open without his fingers needing to press the pages apart. A large pair of black headphones hugged his head, over his ears. She was amused at the thought that he still found this place not quiet enough that he had to bring such large headphones. He probably couldn’t hear her coming, so when she stood next to him, she gently placed her bag near him. The shudder from the impact her bag made with the table alerted the half-blind young man.
“Oh, hey, you’re here,” he said, hastily turning off his music and taking off his headphones. Something that looked like a smaller earphone tumbled off from his right ear, and noticing he dropped it, he caught it in his hand before placing it in the breast pocket of his shirt.
“Why are you wearing an earphone inside a headphone?” Naomi asked, sitting next to him.
“It’s my aid,” Asa replied quickly. His face slightly red, flustered from how awkward and stupid he was for hurrying. He realized he didn’t need to be such in a hurry.
“Aid?”
“Yeah, my hearing aid. I’m deaf—well, only on this side…” he explained, one finger made a circling motion in front of his right ear.
“Oh… Sorry…”
“Nah, no, it’s fine. It’s not like it’s obvious that I’m half-deaf, not as obvious as my being half-blind.”
“Then...why aren’t you wearing it right now?” She pointed at his breast pocket where he dropped the hearing aid into.
“Don’t need it. The library’s quiet, I can hear you just fine.” His eye darted to her bag, trying to steer the conversation away from his handicaps. “So? Which one do you have problems with?” he asked.
“Everything!” Naomi replied with a gusto, taking all of her textbook and notes. “I’m sorry, but please start from the beginning of this term.”
Asa gulped; not because he was afraid of having to explain half a term’s worth of math equations, but he basically gulped for her sake. “You do realize we have only about two weeks before midterms, right? You sure you want me to cram that much in this little amount of time?”
Naomi pouted, acknowledging that he was right. She had thought about this and it scared her. “W-well...let’s just...start with the first half of the first chapter, then see if I can handle them or not.”
“Fair enough. Alright, let’s not waste anymore time.”
Asa was quick to turn into tutor mode, and he was quite the stern tutor at that, too. Whenever Naomi lost focus and started going off on a tangent, Asa tapped her on her arm with the back of his hand, accompanied with a sharp, “Focus,” jabbed at her. It happened several times during their first two hours of tutoring; Naomi was obviously trying to make the suffering much more bearable, but when she tried to do so, Asa noticed, she really attempted to steer every attention away from maths. Asa’s main struggle was to keep her listening to him.
Naomi still hated maths, and despite her multiple attempts to escape from her tutoring, she found herself somewhat understanding the formulae she never understood before. Granted, Asa had to speak to her as if he was speaking to an elementary student, because the fancy math terms escaped her. He used Naomi’s strong tendency to make fun rhymes to her advantage, which works awesomely with trigonometry. And three long, arduous hours later, the older of the two decided to end the tutoring session, much to Naomi’s relief.
She stretched her arms up, groaning with relief. “Oh my goooooood! My head is gonna explode!”
“You’re fine. We managed to cover through our goal, didn’t we? You can go home now, eat...ice cream, I dunno. Whatever you like.”
“I like ice cream.” She packed her books and notes back into her bag, while Asa grabbed the large book she found him reading in the beginning of the day. She watched him rummage into his bag and pulled out a bookmark with a picture of some character from a game that was currently quite a hot discussion topic, typically among the boys. She kept hearing how said game made them frustrated, but at the same time excited. He slipped the themed bookmark about a fifth through the thick book. He had read that much since his arrival to the library and their meeting?
“Not only are you apparently pretty shy, but a straight-A student, a bookworm, and a gamer, too? You’re actually a pretty big nerd, aren’t ya?” Naomi teased with a big wide grin plastered on her heart-shaped face. Her remark earned her a blush and stammers from the eleventh grader.
“Y-yeah? So what if I’m a nerd?” he retorted, trying to remain stalwart.
Naomi giggled. “Nothing. It’s just really interesting that everything is packed in such a tall package of muscles and rage. You honestly strike more as the typical jock type. Hold on...don’t tell me you play football too?”
Asa sighed and walked to the counter. There, Naomi learned that Asa and the librarian seemed to be very familiar with each other, judging by their small talk. A small talk which he cut off to talk to her. “I can play football, but not part of the club. I’m not in any clubs at school, actually.” He paused and thought about his next words. He wanted to decide against it, but he ended up telling her anyway. What harm could there be? “I do go to the gym and take wrestling three days a week, though…”
“Ha! That still counts as a jock thing!” Naomi laughed as they exited the library. “You must be popular, huh?”
“I dunno. You don’t seem to know me, otherwise you wouldn’t be talking to me. Your friends, though, oh I know they know who I am. They don’t want you to talk to me.” Asa grimaced; he acted like he didn’t care but he paid close attention to Esh-baal and Eve’s body language, how they just succumbed to Naomi’s genuine wishes to present him with her homemade lunch. He could tell at least one of them was ready to pick up a fight with him should he harm this tiny blond girl. A lot of the students wanted to fight him, not just the bullies.
“Oh, they’re always in with the gossips and stuff. I don’t. I’m happy with cooking shows and DIY videos.” She lightly skipped in her steps, contrasting the way Asa took giant heavy strides that made him appear to walk fast. “I must say, I almost think you’d join Kazuo and his guys to gang up on me back then… Glad that wasn’t the case!”
“Who—oh. That prick. Ehh, I’ve had a lot of beef with that kid for a long time. Picked on Glovar when he first entered the swimming club, but my bro defended himself. You just...happened to be his victim at the time, that gave me an excuse to dish some payback. Feels real good.”
“Well, I’m glad my being harrassed turned to be beneficial. Also, it made a positive first impression of you for me!”
Asa raised an eyebrow—well, his only visible eyebrow—at the shorter girl. “Really? You’re not scared, after how I threatened a junior off a window that one time?”
“Now that I know what a big nerd you are, no! Besides, you were saving your brother, weren’t you?” she asked, tilting her head slightly to the side, a smile sitting on her face. “You’ve been nothing but a pretty nice jock-nerd combo to me this whole time.”
The tall young man shifted his mouth and ground his teeth together to hold back a big bright blush. “Okay, enough with the labels.” His eyes looked up momentarily as they arrived at a crossroads and stopped to turn to her. “Which way’s your house?”
“There,” she pointed straight ahead, “at Clementine Road. Where’s yours?”
“Same way, but two blocks further at Cherimoya. But I’m meeting up with my sister this way,” he said, pointing to the road to his left.
She giggled, knowing they didn’t live too far apart. “Nice. Still in the ‘Fruity District’,” she giggled again, this time at her own nickname for the area of their houses. The roads were, indeed, named after fruits. But then her brain tuned in to another piece of his sentence. It made her freeze for a moment. “Wait wait wait… Sister? I never—”
“You know her,” he cut her off, “she goes to the same school as us.”
“What grade? Is she younger? Older?”
“Not a student.”
“A teacher?! Which one? Tell me!” She hopped towards him, standing as close as possible in front of him, eager to know.
“I’ll give you a clue: she teaches English.”
It wasn’t much of a riddle; she gasped with the answer somewhat choked up behind her voice. “Miss Cayaditto?! She’s your sister? But your last names...oh, wait, she must be married.”
The way she reacted to the revelation amused him, Asa had a good chuckle out of it. “No, not married. Not yet. But, yeah, she’s my sister. Okay, technically not, but we used to grow up in the same house before she moved out with her boyfriend. Uh, long story. I’d tell you when I’m not in such a hurry.” His feet moved towards the road that lead him to his sister, while Naomi to her house.
Naomi understandingly nodded and headed towards her home. “No problem. See ya!” She started walking, but turned around before both of them departed too far. “Wait! Asa!” she hollered. She made sure to holler as loud as she sanely could, remembering that he was half-deaf. Luckily, not many cars were around at the moment. “Can I eat lunch with you again?”
Asa didn’t answer immediately. His eye was searching for an answer on a blank sidewalk tile, his lips pursed. Soon, his hand cupped his chin. He glanced quickly at her, only to find her eagerly waiting for an answer—which she expected to be ‘yes’ judging by how hopeful she looked. He thought Grimoaldo had given her the warning, he thought Esh-baal and Eve had warned her. Either they actually failed to do so, or this girl just had the determination the size of a kaiju. He sighed through his nostrils. “Yeah, only if you promise to focus when we meet again tomorrow. And, uh, if your math grade doesn’t improve the next pop quiz, no more VIP rooftop lunch for you. Copy that?”
Her eyes and face beamed. She striked a saluting pose with a gusto. “Sir, yes, sir!” she exclaimed, followed by a series of giggles. Asa returned her salute out of amusement, though his gesture had less oomph in it. They saw each other off for the second time, and for real.
Asa thought back of his decision; worrying if that was a good thing or a bad thing. He was mainly influenced by what she said; after purposefully building an intimidating image throughout his school years, it felt pleasing to find someone who saw past that, and he clung to the sentiment. Maybe he shouldn’t have, but for once, he wanted to go against his harder, colder instincts.

Heading to Bed
Summary: Clementine and Louis get ready to sleep and talk about the adjustments they've made with the loss of Clem's leg and Louis' added responsibilities.
Notes: I love these two so much <3
Read on A03:
“Home at last,” Clementine exclaimed as she and Louis strolled into their room as night deepened outside the window. With a deep sigh, she collapsed spread eagled on the bed. Louis laughed as he looked down at her.
“Not wasting any time, I see,”
“You know it. Now, if I could just muster the strength to get this off…” Clem lazily shifted her stump, her prosthetic dangling precariously on the edge of the bed.
“Allow me the honor,” Louis lifted both her legs to place them in his lap as he took a seat on the bed. Bending over, he began the process of undoing the leather straps that kept it in place. As he eased the limb off, Clementine let out a soft hiss of pain. Louis shot her a concerned glance.
“Is it sore?”
“Very. It’s been a while since I kept it on that long,” Usually, Clementine split up her time between the crutches and the prosthetic as she tried to build up endurance. Today had been her first attempt at hunting though, so she had needed to keep the prosthetic on for most of the day while she was outside the walls. Overall it had been a successful outing, with four rabbits and a squirrel caught between archery and the traps.
She was glad she had chosen to go with Aasim. Though Louis had been instrumental in giving her the encouragement and support needed to get back on her feet, she was sure hunting with him would have been a complete nightmare, with him hovering behind her and cheering her on with every step when silence was needed to hunt prey. Aasim had kept a respectable, detached attitude throughout the trip, giving Clementine her space, but being close enough that on the few occasions when she stumbled he was there to break her fall.
Of course, AJ had wanted to tag along as well to protect her, but Clementine had stringently objected. She couldn’t have the stress of keeping an eye on AJ and figuring out how to hunt again for the first time, no matter how capable the 6 year old was. Neither Louis or A.J. was happy with the arrangement, but they respected her wishes. As soon as she and Aasim were in sight of the school, both boys had barreled out of the gates and literally carried her back into the front yard. She doubted they had gotten much of anything done while she was gone. They’d hovered over her incessantly throughout dinner, asking her questions on what she and Aasim had done and seen in excruciating detail.
Once dinner was over, Ruby had mercifully pulled A.J. away for a while, asking him to help her with something in the greenhouse. Clem had given her a grateful smile then headed toward the dorms with Louis, using all of her willpower to keep from limping as they made their way inside. Now that the day was done, Clementine could finally bask in the pride of a job well done. Things couldn’t have gone better. Now she was home in the comfort of her bed with her boyfriend gently massaging the blood flow back into her leg.
A sudden stabbing pain up her leg caused Clementine to gasp.
“Sorry, sorry!” Louis exclaimed, pulling his hands back. “Was that too hard? I can stop,”
“No, it’s OK. It’s just more tender than usual. It still feels good,”
Hesitantly, Louis reached for her leg again and began to gently massage around the base, thumbs rolling soft circles into her aching stump. Clem moaned appreciatively.
“Yeah, right there. That’s sooo much better,”
“Y’know, I’ve become quite good at this if I do say so myself,” Louis smirked playfully at Clementine. “It must be because I’m so talented with my fingers,” It took a second for his own words to sink in. “Oh shit, wait, not like that! I meant because of my piano playing…” He lowered his face in shame, hiding behind his dreadlocks.
Clem giggled. “Smooth, Louis. Very smooth,”
After the awkwardness had faded, they settled into a comfortable silence, Louis continuing to absentmindedly rub Clementine’s leg as she lay with eyes closed, savoring the moment. She felt like she could drift off to sleep at any second, but she didn’t want to quite yet. She wanted to spend more time with Louis. “So…” she began, “What did you do today?”
“Ah, nothing too interesting. A.J. and I did patrol together and checked the wall for any weak points. Then I spent some time with Violet tanning some of the rabbit hides. I know they’re great for keeping warm in the winter but man do those things stink!”
“Yeah, I don’t envy you that job,” Clementine had been stuck doing inside work for the last several months as her leg had healed. Though she and Violet had found ways to keep themselves entertained in spite of the mind-numbing tasks, Clementine had felt the boredom slowly eating away at her soul. Who knew that homemaking could feel worse that living on the road?
“Anyway, after that Ruby had me haul a ton of water from the creek since ever since we started doing laundry she’s convinced it must be a weekly task,”
“You have to admit, there haven’t been any more lice outbreaks since she started her cleaning regimen,”
Louis shuddered. “Don’t remind me,”
“So that was it then?”
“Well, once I finished with the water I tried to sneak off to get some music time in, but Omar cornered me by the tables and had me chopping veggies for dinner. A.J. helped out since he was waiting for you to come home. We finished prep shortly before you returned and you know the rest up until this very moment,”
“Sounds like quite the day,”
“That it was. Thank God I’m usually much better at shirking than today would suggest,” He lifted her right leg to remove her boot, then began to massage her foot, humming a little tune to himself as he continued.
Clementine watched him thoughtfully. Despite Louis’ well-known history of avoiding work, when she thought back on the last few days, he’d really been running himself ragged. Hell, she couldn’t think of a time in the past couple months when she’d seen him slacking off, except for stolen moments with her.
When she had arrived at Ericson, Louis would spend hours at the piano every day, practicing or composing to his heart’s content. But thinking over the last week, Clementine couldn’t remember if she’d even heard the piano being played. Pushing herself up into a sitting position, she reached forward to brush Louis’ dreadlocks away from his face.
“Something wrong?”
She could see that the area under his eyes had darkened, and there were stress lines around the corners of his eyes as well. How long had those been there? “Are you eating OK? Sleeping?”
Louis chuckled. “Wow, are those maternal instincts turning on me since A.J. is out of the room? Relax, I’m fine,”
Clementine gave him her best unconvinced staredown. Louis squirmed under her eyes. “You know it’s not bad to take time for yourself. No one would fault you for setting aside some time to practice your music,”
“I know… but there’s just so much to be done around here, what with hunting for food and checking the walls and prepping for meals…”
“There is such a thing as asking for help,”
“Nah, that wouldn’t be right. Everyone’s pulling their weight around here. No reason I shouldn’t do the same,”
“Louis!” Clementine exclaimed, taking his face in her hands. “Look at you! You’re worn out! Clearly you’ve been going above and beyond lately. There’s no reason to feel guilty!”
Louis wouldn’t look at her. Instead his eyes were trained on the bed, as if afraid to meet her eyes.
“What is it?”
“I didn’t get hurt,”
“That night, when we attacked the raiders’ ship… I didn’t get hurt. Violet did. You did. And every time I think back to what happened that night…” He choked on his words, tears beginning to run down his face.
“Louis…” Clementine gently brushed the tears aside, but more came. “Louis, none of that is your fault. You couldn’t have prevented what happened. And Violet and I – we’re fine! I mean, sure, things are different, but that hasn’t stopped us from doing what needs to be done. I mean, I went hunting today. I can take outside shifts again. It doesn’t always have to be you and Aasim.
“No,” Louis shook his head firmly. “No, I don’t want you to take that on!”
“Louis, I like hunting,”
“No, I can’t take it! I couldn’t focus on anything today – not patrol or the rabbit hides or those stupid veggies! All I could think about was you outside the walls and how the last time I left you outside-”
He was breathing too hard, his breath coming out in short, tight gasps. Clementine wasn’t sure what to do. Desperately, she wrapped him in her arms, holding him tightly. Louis buried his face against her neck and Clem ran her hand up and down his back, trying to calm him down. She wasn’t sure how many minutes it took, but finally Louis’ breathing slowed and he went slack against her, body limp. Clementine ran her fingers gently through his hair.
“I won’t do anything stupid that’ll get me killed. You know me. I could never do that to A.J. or to you,”
“It doesn’t have to be stupid to get you killed,” Louis murmured. “Mitch died saving Tenn. Tenn died ‘cause he couldn’t turn his back on Minnie. Marlon died….” He sighed shakily. “Things are different than the days where I used to while away the hours in the music room. It was wrong of me to waste time back then. It’d be even worse doing it now,”
Clementine sighed in exasperation and pushed Louis back from her. She took his chin in one hand so he would look her in the eyes. “Louis, I love you, but you’re being a fool right now,”
Louis’ brow quirked in confusion.
“Listen to you! How can you talk about music this way, like it’s nothing? Music is your passion. I don’t want you to give that up for anything,” She reached down and took his hands in her own. “I hear what you’re saying. We lost so many people back then in those days and things did change. But we’re a family, Louis! We all look out for each other! Not a single one of us would want our happiness to come at the cost of yours. When Violet and I were hurt, you carried us through that time. Now it’s our turn, OK?”
Louis mutely nodded.
“OK?” “
OK, OK!” Louis looked up at her, his eyes still wet, but calm now. Warm.
“Clem…. You’re amazing,”
Clem smiled, leaning forward to place a soft kiss on his lips. “You are too,” She wrapped her arms around him once more, pulling him toward her until they had both collapsed on the bed. She inched forward until her nose was brushing against his. “This is what we’re going to do. Tomorrow, you and I are going to the music room. And we’re going to spend the entire morning in there. We’ll lock the door so no one can bother us and then you can play me that song you wrote me. Or try to teach me how to play again – that is, if you have the patience,”
“I would love that,” Louis whispered.
Clementine reached out to grab Louis’ arm, draping it over her waist, pulling him closer. He was so warm and she was so tired. It wouldn’t be long till she was asleep. She looked into Louis’ eyes, so close to her own. “Promise me something?”
“Mm?”
“Promise me that you’ll tell me next time you’re feeling worn out. I count on you for so much. I want you to count on me too,”
Louis was quiet for a moment. Then he nodded. “I promise,”
“Good. Love you,”
“Love you too,” Louis breathed, resting his forehead against hers.
After a few minutes in each others’ warm embrace, sleep overcame the couple and they both took their well-deserved rest.
