jk but i do have some thoughts haha i'll put them in categories (if there's anything in canon i'm ignoring it, this is based on their vibes and my brain only)

can swim, someone probably taught it to them: inosuke (the boars taught him idk he can definitely swim tho), the butterfly girls (if they didn't know already kanae and shinobu taught them), tanjiro, nezuko, kanae, shinobu, kyojuro, senjuro, mitsuri, muichiro, sanemi, genya, kokushibo, yoriichi, daki, yushiro, tamayo (learned it when they were kids), sabito (tried to teach giyuu and failed miserably), gyokko (i mean come on)

can swim, learned it the hard way tho: tengen (his dad tossed him into a river when he was eight and left him to figure it out on his own), gyutaro, akaza (someone probably tried to drown them when they were human kids)

cannot swim, please don't leave them alone around deep water: zenitsu (fell into a pond once and nearly drowned, refuses to get near one ever again after that), giyuu (he's like a stone idk what's wrong with him tbh), obanai (has never been taught and at this point is too afraid to ask), gyomei (water is already dangerous af if you can see it okay), douma (kinda on the fence with this one; on the one hand he might've found the time to learn it during his 100< year lifespan but then again why would he), rui (too sickly to go swimming as a human and too lazy to learn it as a demon), muzan (he can walk on water tho. he's jesus.)

My head canon about Giyuu is that I think he is a really independent younger child, rather than someone who is just spoiled and unable to do basic tasks.

I could just be projecting, because I'm a younger sibling myself and I don't rely heavily on my older sibs, but I think, that even if Giyuu was pampered, he would eventually learn to help Tsutako in the household. There's only two of them and he probably feels bad that his sister had to raise him alone, so I think, that at a young age, he'd do all that he could to lessen some of her burden.

Another reason is that Urokodaki is very strict with his students. I can't imagine that he (and possibly Sabito) would be lenient with his training. Being a Demon Slayer and especially a Hashira, would mean that you need to at least have basic survival skills. Giyuu would eventually need to learn all that. Not to mention Giyuu is a solitary person, so he has to at least be self sufficient if he was able to survive that long.

Since we're at it, that's also why I personally don't think that Giyuu can't swim. As far as I know, there's no strong evidence to support that. Imagine if he has to save someone from drowning during his mission, then he's screwed.

Urokodaki literally throws his students into into the water, so if anything, I actually hc that Giyuu in present, is a very good swimmer, and likely a decent cook too. It's not quite the same, but some of the things he does in the Gakuen spin off seem to suggest it.

We see here how he lives alone. His space even looks neat. He prepares his own meals and even trained the kids on how to survive the ocean. (implying he can swim)

I mean yeah ofc, he still has moments where he wants his sister to dote on him, (this is an au were all things went well after all ) but he's also quick to think about not bothering her. Even if this setting has very low stakes, he still wouldn't survive on his own if he wasn't at least independent.

It's just a headcanon of course, but I like the idea of Giyuu being independent, especially his taisho era counterpart. I think it could play nicely in his development by learning that there is no need for shame and guilt in being protected, and that it's okay to rely on others too, even if he still has a way to go with that.

super excited for the trip: mitsuri (it's all she talks about for days), kyojuro (has never been canoeing before and is really eager to learn it), douma (hopes to see boats capsize), akaza (his gymbro brain is trained to be excited about every sporty thingy ever), nezuko (she's an otter she's a mermaid, the real challenge is keeping her out of the water and inside the boat)

prepared to the point of paranoid: aoi (aggressively reminds everyone to put on suncream at least ten times), tanjiro (brings water for the whole group and then some), shinobu (a first aid kit for you! and a first aid kit for you! first aid kits for everybody!)

lowkey scared of the trip: zenitsu (i'm lying, he's highkey scared of the trip), sanemi (deep water be kinda sus okay), senjuro (kyojuro talks him through it tho), kanae ("something will go wrong i can feel it")

capsizes ten minutes into the trip: muichiro (wasn't paying attention and paddled right into the reed), genya (had the great misfortune to share a boat with muichiro), sabito (was too busy laughing at genya and muichiro to pay attention to where he was paddling), makomo (saw the obstacle coming and gladly let sabito paddle into it just to wipe that grin off his face), inosuke (it's a miracle he didn't take the whole fleet down with him)

chilling at the beach: tengen (if you think he's getting his hair wet for this you're out of your mind), gyomei (some risks shouldn't be taken), kanao (busy preparing the picnic for when the others return), giyuu (going into a tiny shaky boat when you can't swim is just. not a great idea.)

fakes a migraine and stays home: obanai (thank you but no thank you)

Douma's got his own waterproof camera so he can make a powerpoint presentation of everytime someone capsized over but ends up taking lots of pictures of Nezuko just living her little mermaid life cause she's so freaking cute! (Granted things get a little messy when she almosts gets into a fist fight with a tuna but that is neither here or there)

Yeah. It does) Tanjiro on water duty with his aggressive kindness being all "TAKE THE WATER!" and then sweetly saying "Thank you!" when they do is EVERYTHING KREJRJKERKJ

Oh God I feel Sanemi on that kjarkaejrkej He's seen all the deep sea scary movies and documentaries to know he doesn't mess with deep water- that plus Kanae having her sixth sense that something will go wrong is enough to have him almost back out of the trip altogether. I like to think the only thing keeping him in is Genya- the idea of him getting snatched away by the Kraken makes him sick ("Sanemi the Kraken isn't real-" "I SAW IT! I saw it at the aquarium! It was huge!" "Sanemi that was squid- and a statue of one at that.")

ERJEJKRJE SABITO! He's such a dork- he'd go "HAHA!" before absolutely capsizing himself. Poor Genya gets Muichiro's hair on him and is all "THE KRAKEN!" while said boy is just trying to untangle it from the paddle. They're not even five feet from the beach and still on shallow water so they all just kinda sitting in chest high water panicking while Makomo laughs. Inosuke's likely just floating by on his back like a castaway, someone has to tie a rope on his ankle so he doesn't drift out to open sea.

KJREKJRJKEKJ Tengen is all out in a speedo on the beach getting a tan- someone draws a dick on his chest with sunscreen that he doesn't realize is there until the next day (it was Sabito. Giyu might have helped.) Gyomei's the guy who walks along the water in a big sun hat like a traveler from another world- just enjoying himself but ever confused when people come up to him asking what world he's from. Kanao's making lunch with Shinobu and Kanae while Senjuro's pulling Inosuke back to shore via the rope, etc. etc. They're all just so cute AH!

Obanai is me akjreakjreakjkjre I love the beach but put me in a group that big and I'd fake a migraine too and stay curled up in my bed kjarkjekjreakj He'd absolutely love the pictures Mitsuri sends him though- they plan a little one on one vacation to the beach together down the road.

As seen in the little doodles next to him, he's a water demon! not directly related to Giyuu and his bloodline, but kinda like cousins.

The Nakamura line of demons are coastal/ sea demons! They earliest documented ancestors of their escaped the facility that held them and vanished into the sea. There, they lived in small groups. Sometimes, the females would leave to have offspring with other demons (mostly demons that lived in the town near the sea) and come back. The bloodline was mostly, perfectly pure.

Living in the ocean by Izu Peninsula, they would occasionally devoure the unfortunate tourist that wandered to close to one of them and didn't consider their warning. Or the occasionally disrespectful teenagers that took daddy's boat out to the sea and threw their trash overboard. So far, from the entire bloodline, they all together killed only around 15 humans. And that over several years.

They prefer fish, crustaceans, and jellyfish especially.

There's NO case of a domesticated Nakamura. All that have been captured and kept in captivity died soon after.

Thanks to poachers hunting them and selling them to eager scientists who want to be first to domesticate them, there's only 3 left. Siblings all too, the oldest sister Mizuki and the twins, Osuke and Daisuke.

he is very disciplined and most people are quite surprised when they learn that katsuki's sleep cycle is the best that one could attain. one of those people is you. you—the insomniac one.

although you never told it to anyone, not that you needed to. it was an information that seemed to be not deemed vital for a person to know in your eyes—even your closest friends.

no matter how much the others kept seeing your state; the bags under your eyes, the slump on your back, the exhaustion on your face—they asked but they never verified any further. you’re glad they never did, actually. at least that way, it was not difficult for you to hide it.

surely, it was never your intention to keep it a secret. it just so happens that you hate bothering people with the problems that are not their own. it's exactly the same with how you treat your other problems for it truly terrifies your heart to be a burden to other people—not that they blatantly say you do.

it was one cold night again. a lonely, sleepless night like any others before it. your eyes were wide awake, as if you weren't already that tired from doing so. thoughts swim all over your mind relentlessly, keeping you from shutting your brain out for you to properly have a sense of peace that you've been attaining for.

taking a deep breath, you glance at the clock by your bedside, seeing the all so-familiar numbers that you frequently see whenever you do end up glancing at the time. sometimes, you don't even bother doing so for it just frustrates you how much time you were wasting from doing nothing.

reaching for your gadget that laid just beside the clock on your bedside table, your eyes squint at the intense light the phone brought, opting you to lower the brightness in an instant.

as far as your mindless scrolling goes, interest doesn't seem to come by knocking on your mind's door at almost everything your eyes had scanned upon. this is never too unusual for you anymore. in the end, you'd just let go of your gadget and end up standing to grab a drink from the kitchen. by then, your light footsteps silently tap on the floor as you exit your bedroom quietly, heading towards the said destination without any hesitance.

one thing about having to have no sense of sleep for several nights is that the dark doesn't matter you anymore. you didn't mind having to wander alone even if you've heard countless of horror stories your whole life. it doesn't seem to faze you anymore, not now that you've done midnight walks all alone, for lots of times.

"the fuck are you doing here, dumbass?"

but that sure did made you jump from fear.

"b-bakugou?" you stuttered, turning to the man standing rather comfortably next to the fridge, the light from the appliance illuminating a few portions of his figure, making it slightly better to see in the dark.

he spoke no further as you went to his side to grab a bottle of milk that you discreetly hid behind the other contents of the fridge early on. as soon as the light from the fridge vanished, you placed yourself next to bakugou, who has now leaned himself to one of the kitchen counters, a glass of water on hand. it made you curious as to how you'd find someone at around 2:54 AM, more so when it is bakugou himself. he always prided in how he always slept early, you now wonder if it was unintentional of him to still be awake or not.

"what are you doing here, bakugou? i thought you sleep early." you tried to strike in a conversation, and for a second there you thought that he'll spit out an insult or a couple of harsh words but he didn't. however, he did not answer your inquiry either.

"so it's true then. you don't sleep at all, dumbass."

well, technically he did still call you like he usually would, but there was a certain softness in his voice that rarely have your or others have heard before. it did indeed surprise you, although your mind is too hazy with the lack of sleep and energy to do so that you doubted it was very much obvious in your facial expression.

another sigh escapes your lips before it touches the straw that was punctured to the milk carton, muttering afterwards with, "it's not that i don't want to. i just can't."

bakugou was silent once again, and in that silence, you found a peace that you didn't expect to find in him. it was calming, nonetheless—to have someone with you in the middle of the night. even without talking to each other, you felt much comfortable and less jittery than any other nights you spent alone.

"i'm heading up now, brat." bakugou removes himself from the counter after placing the empty cup, separating himself as he steps away from you and the kitchen.

you were about to tear your eyes away from him and relish upon the fact of being alone again when his voice invades your ears, still with the same vocabulary that only he understands, but they instill the same softness that you'd heard from him that night.

"what're you staring at, dumbass? come on, i'll bring you to your room before i change my mind."

a small smile curls ever so swiftly by your lips, a rush of temporary energy surging in your veins as you push yourself off of the counter and made your way next to him. even if you didn't have any sort of bond before, you were quite sure that it will sooner change, even as this night and moment goes or passes away.

and maybe tonight, you might have a peaceful sleep than the other nights.

there were no certainties, but there's nothing wrong with hoping that it would happen.

There are some things in life we cannot capture, but we try to capture them anyway, because we try to fill the meaning of possibilities, only to be confounded by immaterialized delight. Their last battle together resulted as one of the highest number of casualties, Y/N is one of them. And even though she managed to survive, going back to the safety of her home, she's now a completely different person. Her appearance must be the same, her attitude must be the same, her smile must be the same, but she's not the Y/N that Giyuu once knew. She's not his Y/N, and he's not her Giyuu, not anymore. She no longer remembers him. All the nights they spent together, and all the kisses they stole from each other, all those memories, gone. He remembers it well, but what's the point if he can't share those memories with her?

He walks all alone, his body feels numb and his mind is filled with questions. Questions that came from his guilt, and he concluded that all of this is his fault. He is a pillar, but what's the point of having this much power if he can't even save the person he loves? He looked at the sky, its color slightly fading into a vibrant amber reminding him of her eyes. He stared at the horizon and felt a hot, growing anger inside of him. The scene was too picturesque. He felt as if the world was mocking him. How could anything be so beautiful when he felt like he was dying inside. He wanted to scream, blame the world for this misfortune, but no one heard his cries.

He took for granted the time that was given to them. He loves her to the point of madness and knows that she loves him that way too. That is why, he is perfectly sure that they have forever to spend their lives with. But he was wrong. Completely wrong. She used to look at him with those mesmerizing amber eyes. Her eyes are always full of love and affection, but right now those eyes are different and distant.

She is the most kind-hearted person he's ever known, always giving him chances even if he doesn't deserve it anymore. He never thanked her, never gave her the proper treatment that she deserved, but amidst all of that she still loved him. She loved him even with his imperfections. She is as kind and gentle as an angel while he is the ruthless and cold hearted one. They say opposites attract and god damn it - they're opposites all right. She could have been his right now, right at this very instant, if only he did not waste any of those moments that he had with her. He should have asked her sooner, maybe they could have started the journey to their eternity, she could have said yes, but he blew it all away.

After reminiscing probably one of his greatest faults in life, he began to put forward all the doubts that are haunting his mind. For the first time, he asks the Gods a favor, and pleads them to take him back to the time when she was still the Y/N he knew back then. He wants to correct all his mistakes, but his contemplation only sprung new questions to his mind and now he feels uncertain and lost.

Can time be found? Is it really lost once the now becomes then? Where does it all go once it is consumed by time? Why does the past feel like a dream even though you feel certain that you've been there, that you've lived it? Or did you not? Where does the past go? Is that why we forget?

A loud splash was heard as the little ravenette's clothes was soaking wet with some of his now wet hair blocking his line of sight and instead of standing, he was sitting up in the river as little fishes were swimming around him.

❝The rocks...❞ Sabito whispers, sighing.

Makomo giggles, jumping down from the log as she turn around to face her peachy pink haired comrade who held a questioning expression at her sudden action.

❝What are you planning this time, Makomo-❞

A splash was heard as the next moment heea know that he felt a wet sensation on his face and the way Makomo was laughing at him...

Something snap inside Sabito as he lower himself onto the water, he was looking down as he start mumbling to her.

❝We were supposed to be training...❞

His hands were in the water the whole time as he cupped some of the salty water by using both of his hands.

What is he going to do now...?

Cue the familiar sound of the water being splashes and now all of them were soaking wet from head to toes as Makomo start splashing around, sending hundred of water drops towards the boy as a revenge.

❝Water fight!❞

Their laughter were fill of so much joy as they have found themselves in a water battle between them and somehow even the shy Giyuu end up joining their little war.

❝I'm not going to lose to you, Makomo!❞

❝Same goes to you too, Sabito!❞

❝H-Hey I'm still here, you guys!❞

All of the sudden, my heart starts to ache at the sight of them playing around without a care in the world...I should be happy for them right but why?

Why does my heart ache so much...?

What is this feeling?

Why do I feel so weird when I saw them looking so happy...?

The three of us start laughing for no reasons but it was a pleasure moment for us...

I was being dragged as she lead me towards somewhere that I wasn't familiar with...

She turn towards me with a smile on her lips.
