sooo i'm on a seminar for the whole week and i bring you kny modern au characters going on a six hour canoe trip because that's what i'll be forced to do tomorrow

hi hello btw how's life :D

super excited for the trip: mitsuri (it's all she talks about for days), kyojuro (has never been canoeing before and is really eager to learn it), douma (hopes to see boats capsize), akaza (his gymbro brain is trained to be excited about every sporty thingy ever), nezuko (she's an otter she's a mermaid, the real challenge is keeping her out of the water and inside the boat)

prepared to the point of paranoid: aoi (aggressively reminds everyone to put on suncream at least ten times), tanjiro (brings water for the whole group and then some), shinobu (a first aid kit for you! and a first aid kit for you! first aid kits for everybody!)

lowkey scared of the trip: zenitsu (i'm lying, he's highkey scared of the trip), sanemi (deep water be kinda sus okay), senjuro (kyojuro talks him through it tho), kanae ("something will go wrong i can feel it")

capsizes ten minutes into the trip: muichiro (wasn't paying attention and paddled right into the reed), genya (had the great misfortune to share a boat with muichiro), sabito (was too busy laughing at genya and muichiro to pay attention to where he was paddling), makomo (saw the obstacle coming and gladly let sabito paddle into it just to wipe that grin off his face), inosuke (it's a miracle he didn't take the whole fleet down with him)

chilling at the beach: tengen (if you think he's getting his hair wet for this you're out of your mind), gyomei (some risks shouldn't be taken), kanao (busy preparing the picnic for when the others return), giyuu (going into a tiny shaky boat when you can't swim is just. not a great idea.)

fakes a migraine and stays home: obanai (thank you but no thank you)

KJRKJEKJRJEK REY I LOVE THESE! (Oh goodness canoeing! Hope that's going well/gone well for you friend! Here's to you being a pro and not ending up like Sabito and co akjrkjearjke)

Oh gosh team all in makes me laugh akjrekajrje Mitsuri's absolutely delighted- she's got a waterproof camera so they can take pictures for her scrapbook; Kyojuro's a fast learner and ends up helping Akaza after the redhead struggles with it (gymbro brain ajkrekrjej I love it!) Douma's got his own waterproof camera so he can make a powerpoint presentation of everytime someone capsized over but ends up taking lots of pictures of Nezuko just living her little mermaid life cause she's so freaking cute! (Granted things get a little messy when she almosts gets into a fist fight with a tuna but that is neither here or there)

KJRJERJE THE BUTTERFLY GIRLS KJERKJEKJ Aoi's got that industrial sized can of spray on sunscreen and just coats everyone like it's a game of Splatoon- meanwhile Shinobu's forces them all to watch a CPR/First aid video so they're all informed on what to do if someone goes down (does it accidentally turn into that scene from the office? Yeah. It does) Tanjiro on water duty with his aggressive kindness being all "TAKE THE WATER!" and then sweetly saying "Thank you!" when they do is EVERYTHING KREJRJKERKJ

Oh God I feel Sanemi on that kjarkaejrkej He's seen all the deep sea scary movies and documentaries to know he doesn't mess with deep water- that plus Kanae having her sixth sense that something will go wrong is enough to have him almost back out of the trip altogether. I like to think the only thing keeping him in is Genya- the idea of him getting snatched away by the Kraken makes him sick ("Sanemi the Kraken isn't real-" "I SAW IT! I saw it at the aquarium! It was huge!" "Sanemi that was squid- and a statue of one at that.")

ERJEJKRJE SABITO! He's such a dork- he'd go "HAHA!" before absolutely capsizing himself. Poor Genya gets Muichiro's hair on him and is all "THE KRAKEN!" while said boy is just trying to untangle it from the paddle. They're not even five feet from the beach and still on shallow water so they all just kinda sitting in chest high water panicking while Makomo laughs. Inosuke's likely just floating by on his back like a castaway, someone has to tie a rope on his ankle so he doesn't drift out to open sea.

KJREKJRJKEKJ Tengen is all out in a speedo on the beach getting a tan- someone draws a dick on his chest with sunscreen that he doesn't realize is there until the next day (it was Sabito. Giyu might have helped.) Gyomei's the guy who walks along the water in a big sun hat like a traveler from another world- just enjoying himself but ever confused when people come up to him asking what world he's from. Kanao's making lunch with Shinobu and Kanae while Senjuro's pulling Inosuke back to shore via the rope, etc. etc. They're all just so cute AH!

Obanai is me akjreakjreakjkjre I love the beach but put me in a group that big and I'd fake a migraine too and stay curled up in my bed kjarkjekjreakj He'd absolutely love the pictures Mitsuri sends him though- they plan a little one on one vacation to the beach together down the road.

anyway! thank you for the reply and the verrry useful information! With it, I could finalize and demonize my kny bbys. I could only do two out of four today, but I wanna hear cha thoughts on em.

heres Daisuke! Two versions, I can't decide between grey or tanish skin

As seen in the little doodles next to him, he's a water demon! not directly related to Giyuu and his bloodline, but kinda like cousins.

The Nakamura line of demons are coastal/ sea demons! They earliest documented ancestors of their escaped the facility that held them and vanished into the sea. There, they lived in small groups. Sometimes, the females would leave to have offspring with other demons (mostly demons that lived in the town near the sea) and come back. The bloodline was mostly, perfectly pure.

Living in the ocean by Izu Peninsula, they would occasionally devoure the unfortunate tourist that wandered to close to one of them and didn't consider their warning. Or the occasionally disrespectful teenagers that took daddy's boat out to the sea and threw their trash overboard. So far, from the entire bloodline, they all together killed only around 15 humans. And that over several years.

They prefer fish, crustaceans, and jellyfish especially.

There's NO case of a domesticated Nakamura. All that have been captured and kept in captivity died soon after.

Thanks to poachers hunting them and selling them to eager scientists who want to be first to domesticate them, there's only 3 left. Siblings all too, the oldest sister Mizuki and the twins, Osuke and Daisuke.

I have sooo much more lore about them, but I think this ask is getting a biiiit too long. HSHSHHS I wanna know your opinion, thoughts, and criticism on em! If u want I could even give you the story idea I had for them in dms :00

Summary: When you're the tsuguko of the water pillar, people immediately assume that you can swim or at least you like being in the water in general. So imagine their surprise when you absolutely refuse to even step foot in the ocean.

Words: 1,7K words

Warnings: Mentions about drowning and panic attacks. Minor talk about death but it’s only an offhanded comment. Minor Inosuke slander but it's a joke i swear.

a/n: I’m doing good thank you for asking anon! Thanks for the ask btw i was waiting for my next one, hope you don’t mind the stuff i added to the story!

It was a miracle you even became Giyuu’s tsuguko, it took a lot of pestering on you part and a lot of annoyance on his

But at the end of the day you didn’t regret it one bit, sure the training was gruelling some days but all to become a stronger slayer right?

The best outcome however, was meeting your sweet blond boyfriend

Oyakata-sama had paired you both on the same mission, since not only did your breathing style compliment each other, it was also good experience for the lower levelled slayer

At first you were slightly miffed with him, with the constant whining and asking your hand marriage and all that. But you can't deny that he did look pretty cute.

Zenitsu on the other hand was whipped

You looked so pretty?? He didn't even know someone could look that pretty in the uniforms every slayer had to wear

It was only when you actually watch him slay the demon that you actually stopped seeing him just as a whiny kid, maybe he did have some potential after all

So you sucked it up and tried to make small talk on your way to the butterfly estate, though it mostly consisted of you and him bickering on who actually killed the demon. Boy was so sure that you did it, no way he could have done it and you were soo cool so it had to been you.

After spending your time healing at the butterfly estate bonding with him and the other two boys he introduced as his friends, it was not surprising to see that Zenitsu had developed a huge small crush on you

Obviously the next step is asking you on a date, no one at the estate bat an eye at his confession and hand filled with flowers. What did surprise them was the fact that you said yes.

Zenitsu himself had to blink twice before realising that oh my god you actually said yes, this hasn't happened before what do I do next??

But after getting over his initial shock he immediately latched on to you

You said yes so there's no going back now, you're stuck with him clinging to you forever now

It wasn't so bad really

Things were just going jusssttt fine

That was until,,,

So there was this one time where after you and the whole squad finished a mission, and there just so happened an open ocean a few paces away

Everyone wasn't too badly injured, considering that the mission was pretty easy, so they immediately jumped at the idea of swimming

How bad could it be? A nice relaxing swim in the ocean after a mission, sounds like a luxury to the others

So as Inosuke pulled Tanjiro into the ocean, Nezuko crawled out from her box and sat on the sand. Making a little sand castle, with pieces of broken seashells as decoration. How cute.

Your boyfriend excitedly pulled on your hand, swimming with his gorgeous girlfriend as the sun rose? Sign him right up.

It wasn't until he realised you weren't moving that he realised something was off, no matter how hard he tugged on your arm

He nearly swooned over how strong you were but he noticed how pale your face became

That- that was not normal

Zenitsu tried waving a hand in front your face to snap you out of it, but you kept staring at the ocean like it was an upper moon

"(Y/N)? Are you okay?"

"..."

"(Y/N)?"

It was there that he found out your fear of the ocean, there was a reason why you couldn't learn deep calm after all

You just hated how it looked like open ocean whenever you would use it, so you simply stopped

Giyuu understood so he never forced you to master it, but no one ever questioned you about it

So your fear of the ocean remained unknown by most, that included your boyfriend

And so he was rightfully concerned when you suddenly starting screaming when Inosuke came along and tried to throw you in the ocean, you nailed a good punch on his face as well

So now with you sitting as far from the beach as possible, and Inosuke's black eye, Zenitsu was torn between yelling at Inosuke for making you panic so much or comforting you instead

But seeing that Nezuko was currently keeping you company, he decided on the first option instead

Meanwhile Nezuko, the sweet bean that she was, was curruntly patting your head to calm you down

She got very concerned when you ran away as far away as possible and curled into ball, and she got even more concerned when you starting hyperventilating

Good thing Tanjiro was there to help, he saw you were going through the first stages of a panic attack, and quickly stopped the fight brewing between Inosuke and Zenitsu

After shooing away the rest of the gang, he did his best to calm you down. He's a little bit clueless on what to do but bby's trying okay

Depending on how you deal with panic attacks he would either help keep you grounded by continously talking about the numorous things he loved about you and all your little quirks that he loved, or instead he would cuddle you and hold you tight while you calmed down

He wouldn't mind doing either, and was glad to sit down and talk about your fear with the ocean.

From then on he kept you away from the ocean as much as possible

He wasn't going to force you to get over your fear just for a nice swim, he cared about you too much for that

But if you turned to him to help you get over your fear then he would gladly help, although he may need a bit of guidence from you or Tanjiro

Overall, he's a very sweet and doting boyfriend as expected from Zenitsu

He's very caring of you as well, maybe even bordering on over-protective when it comes to your fear of the ocean

As in, until he knows your ready to face it, then he will not let you go near any body of deep water that would trigger your panic attacks

One time Inosuke questioned your fear of the ocean, nearly calling you a coward if not for the seething rage that is Zenitsu, but with a little bit of gentle encouragement (mosty from Tanjiro and Zenitsu) you opened up about it

What really made you fear the ocean is not only the looming fear of the deep dark waters

But for some reason, your dear elder cousin thought it was a good idea to tell you of how one of your ancestors drowned in the ocean once

Ever since you dreaded going any where near it, just thinking about it made your spince tingle and your mouth go dry

None of the squad really judged you for it, not after you punched Inosuke's eye out that one time, so you can count on your friends to be there

Sometimes, if you were okay with it of course, they would ask questions it was mostly Inosuke asking them

But Zenitsu would ask some too, just to make sure then if something happens then he wouldn't be a clueless idiot

The questions were mostly, "Why are you so scared? It's just the ocean" those were the ones coming from Inosuke

To which you responded with, "I'd rather fight an upper moon"

The gang knew not to bring it up again, because they know for certain that you would actually fight an upper moon then step foot in the ocean if given the option

And they weren't going to let that happen any time soon

But other questions included, "What kind of fear is it? Is it like you can't move fear or wanting to run away fear?" "What do you feel when it happens (Y/N), do you feel faint or sick?"

None really completely rude of course, they were coming from a good place after all, and they knew not to push your buttons

Inosuke learned that the hard way, and the others didn't really need an example to the learn the lesson too

But one day someone, just a random slayer that discovered your fear of the ocean asked, "How do you train under the water pillar of all people? You would be a terrible tsuguko then if your scared"

To which you responded once again, by beating their ass

In all fairness, the only breathing form that your fear prevented you from learning was the final form that Giyuu created

The endless water that surrounded you when you did it was just too much, but your mentor understood and never forced you to learn it

And you were still a force to be reckoned with, even if you can't master all of the forms

There wasn't a legitement reason to why you stuck with that, it was simply the most comfortable one for you to learn

You've tried learning other breaths before but none of them stuck, and so now here you were the tsuguko of the water pillar

If you want to get over your fear however, they would be very supprotive and help in their own way

Inosuke tries bringing some seashells or pretty things he finds after swiming, to maybe hopefully show you that the ocean isn't so bad

Tanjiro and Nezuko, those sweethearts, try slowly bringing you closer and closer to the edge of the beach over some time. Never really forcing you to move closer but always encouraging when you do

And then there's your boyfriend

Zenitsu, that darling, was the most important factor in you getting over your fear

He not only was the one to calm you down during your panic attacks, but he was also the most encouraging

Every small achievement you made he would celebrate it to no end

You moved a step closer to the ocean? Damn you are such a goddess, how did he manage to date you again? Endless compliments

You manage to stand at the edge of the water? He'll get you any snack you want, just ask and you shall recieve

At the end, no matter if you actively try to get over your fear or not, you'll always have your friends and your doting boyfriend to cheer you on

katsuki never sleeps late.

he is very disciplined and most people are quite surprised when they learn that katsuki's sleep cycle is the best that one could attain. one of those people is you. you—the insomniac one.

although you never told it to anyone, not that you needed to. it was an information that seemed to be not deemed vital for a person to know in your eyes—even your closest friends.

no matter how much the others kept seeing your state; the bags under your eyes, the slump on your back, the exhaustion on your face—they asked but they never verified any further. you’re glad they never did, actually. at least that way, it was not difficult for you to hide it.

"(y/n)-san have you been sleeping late?"

"yeah, is it that obvious, midoriya-san?"

"ah-no it's alright! do rest more next time, (y/n)-san!"

surely, it was never your intention to keep it a secret. it just so happens that you hate bothering people with the problems that are not their own. it's exactly the same with how you treat your other problems for it truly terrifies your heart to be a burden to other people—not that they blatantly say you do.

it was one cold night again. a lonely, sleepless night like any others before it. your eyes were wide awake, as if you weren't already that tired from doing so. thoughts swim all over your mind relentlessly, keeping you from shutting your brain out for you to properly have a sense of peace that you've been attaining for.

your inosmnia comes by every once in awhile. sometimes you get to sleep easily, but most of the time, you don't. barely could you remember the times that you could slip on your bed and instantly have a good night's sleep. it's that rare and ancient.

taking a deep breath, you glance at the clock by your bedside, seeing the all so-familiar numbers that you frequently see whenever you do end up glancing at the time. sometimes, you don't even bother doing so for it just frustrates you how much time you were wasting from doing nothing.

reaching for your gadget that laid just beside the clock on your bedside table, your eyes squint at the intense light the phone brought, opting you to lower the brightness in an instant.

as far as your mindless scrolling goes, interest doesn't seem to come by knocking on your mind's door at almost everything your eyes had scanned upon. this is never too unusual for you anymore. in the end, you'd just let go of your gadget and end up standing to grab a drink from the kitchen. by then, your light footsteps silently tap on the floor as you exit your bedroom quietly, heading towards the said destination without any hesitance.

one thing about having to have no sense of sleep for several nights is that the dark doesn't matter you anymore. you didn't mind having to wander alone even if you've heard countless of horror stories your whole life. it doesn't seem to faze you anymore, not now that you've done midnight walks all alone, for lots of times.

"the fuck are you doing here, dumbass?"

but that sure did made you jump from fear.

"b-bakugou?" you stuttered, turning to the man standing rather comfortably next to the fridge, the light from the appliance illuminating a few portions of his figure, making it slightly better to see in the dark.

he spoke no further as you went to his side to grab a bottle of milk that you discreetly hid behind the other contents of the fridge early on. as soon as the light from the fridge vanished, you placed yourself next to bakugou, who has now leaned himself to one of the kitchen counters, a glass of water on hand. it made you curious as to how you'd find someone at around 2:54 AM, more so when it is bakugou himself. he always prided in how he always slept early, you now wonder if it was unintentional of him to still be awake or not.

"what are you doing here, bakugou? i thought you sleep early." you tried to strike in a conversation, and for a second there you thought that he'll spit out an insult or a couple of harsh words but he didn't. however, he did not answer your inquiry either.

"so it's true then. you don't sleep at all, dumbass."

well, technically he did still call you like he usually would, but there was a certain softness in his voice that rarely have your or others have heard before. it did indeed surprise you, although your mind is too hazy with the lack of sleep and energy to do so that you doubted it was very much obvious in your facial expression.

another sigh escapes your lips before it touches the straw that was punctured to the milk carton, muttering afterwards with, "it's not that i don't want to. i just can't."

bakugou was silent once again, and in that silence, you found a peace that you didn't expect to find in him. it was calming, nonetheless—to have someone with you in the middle of the night. even without talking to each other, you felt much comfortable and less jittery than any other nights you spent alone.

"i'm heading up now, brat." bakugou removes himself from the counter after placing the empty cup, separating himself as he steps away from you and the kitchen.

you were about to tear your eyes away from him and relish upon the fact of being alone again when his voice invades your ears, still with the same vocabulary that only he understands, but they instill the same softness that you'd heard from him that night.

"what're you staring at, dumbass? come on, i'll bring you to your room before i change my mind."

a small smile curls ever so swiftly by your lips, a rush of temporary energy surging in your veins as you push yourself off of the counter and made your way next to him. even if you didn't have any sort of bond before, you were quite sure that it will sooner change, even as this night and moment goes or passes away.

and maybe tonight, you might have a peaceful sleep than the other nights.

there were no certainties, but there's nothing wrong with hoping that it would happen.

Remembrance

There are some things in life we cannot capture, only witness. Like, for instance, how the bottles on the floor are rigid on the edges and how quickly the steam of tea disappears, drifting to the waning twilight of the past. The past that Giyuu yearns to remember, the past in which his body lives through almost every day.

Swimming in broken images, he tries to put it back together, like an incoherent jigsaw puzzle scattered in a lacquer of time, pieces stained muted black and lively yellow, like the sky that night, when he decided to leave. Y/N stood there as a stranger, and the moment their eyes met, the emotions are different. It was cold, it was painful. The feeling is new. Giyuu then took his leave, each step a growing distance consuming their everything, leaving nothing behind like a forest fire, in which she is a casualty of his undoing. Number of deaths: many. Number of injured: many.

There are some things in life we cannot capture, but we try to capture them anyway, because we try to fill the meaning of possibilities, only to be confounded by immaterialized delight. Their last battle together resulted as one of the highest number of casualties, Y/N is one of them. And even though she managed to survive, going back to the safety of her home, she's now a completely different person. Her appearance must be the same, her attitude must be the same, her smile must be the same, but she's not the Y/N that Giyuu once knew. She's not his Y/N, and he's not her Giyuu, not anymore. She no longer remembers him. All the nights they spent together, and all the kisses they stole from each other, all those memories, gone. He remembers it well, but what's the point if he can't share those memories with her?

He walks all alone, his body feels numb and his mind is filled with questions. Questions that came from his guilt, and he concluded that all of this is his fault. He is a pillar, but what's the point of having this much power if he can't even save the person he loves? He looked at the sky, its color slightly fading into a vibrant amber reminding him of her eyes. He stared at the horizon and felt a hot, growing anger inside of him. The scene was too picturesque. He felt as if the world was mocking him. How could anything be so beautiful when he felt like he was dying inside. He wanted to scream, blame the world for this misfortune, but no one heard his cries.

He took for granted the time that was given to them. He loves her to the point of madness and knows that she loves him that way too. That is why, he is perfectly sure that they have forever to spend their lives with. But he was wrong. Completely wrong. She used to look at him with those mesmerizing amber eyes. Her eyes are always full of love and affection, but right now those eyes are different and distant.

She is the most kind-hearted person he's ever known, always giving him chances even if he doesn't deserve it anymore. He never thanked her, never gave her the proper treatment that she deserved, but amidst all of that she still loved him. She loved him even with his imperfections. She is as kind and gentle as an angel while he is the ruthless and cold hearted one. They say opposites attract and god damn it - they're opposites all right. She could have been his right now, right at this very instant, if only he did not waste any of those moments that he had with her. He should have asked her sooner, maybe they could have started the journey to their eternity, she could have said yes, but he blew it all away.

After reminiscing probably one of his greatest faults in life, he began to put forward all the doubts that are haunting his mind. For the first time, he asks the Gods a favor, and pleads them to take him back to the time when she was still the Y/N he knew back then. He wants to correct all his mistakes, but his contemplation only sprung new questions to his mind and now he feels uncertain and lost.

Can time be found? Is it really lost once the now becomes then? Where does it all go once it is consumed by time? Why does the past feel like a dream even though you feel certain that you've been there, that you've lived it? Or did you not? Where does the past go? Is that why we forget?
