BASK IN THE AWE OF GODS POWER & LOVE! Anyone, everyone, who puts their faith in Christ and his death for their sin on the cross will be justified—will be made right with God—and welcomed into God's family. If that is all true, and Paul had staked his life on it, then what is there to be ashamed of? Paul continues that this salvation from God by faith in Christ is for the Jew first and also for the Greek. In this context, "Greek" is similar to the meaning of "Gentile," as a references to all the non-Jewish people in the world. Why for the Jew first? Paul will spend a lot of time on that concept in this letter. Jesus said simply that "salvation is from the Jews" (📖 John 4:22). Paul's letter will show that God prioritized the Jews first in revealing that all can be saved by faith in Christ. Though they rejected that message as a nation, many Jewish people did indeed trust in Christ for their salvation, starting with Jesus' 12 Jewish disciples. This explains in part why Paul often began his work in a new city by preaching in the Jewish synagogues before moving on to preach to the Gentiles (📖 Acts 13:5). It's true that Christ sent Paul to preach to all the nations, but He also commissioned Paul to preach about Him to the children of Israel (📖 Acts 9:15). GUARD Y❤UR HEART To "keep" something, in this sense, means more than simply "to maintain ownership." It refers to maintenance, care, and support. Some translations use the word "guard," A wise person realizes that temptation is real (📖 1 Corinthians 10:13) and takes appropriate precautions. This parallels statements made earlier, where Solomon advises his son to actively avoid evil, and those who practice it (📖 Proverbs 4:14–15). Scripture places a strong emphasis on the heart as the source of good or evil. 📖Jeremiah 17:9 says, "the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick." Jesus announced: "The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks" (📖 Luke 6:45). David, Solomon's father, certainly understood how influential the heart is in how we live out our morals and values. Out of the evil of his heart, he stole Uriah's wife Bathsheba, committed adultery with her, and then arranged for Uriah's death when he could not hide his crime (📖 2 Samuel 11:2–5, 14–15). However, when he was under heavy conviction about his evil deed, David prayed, "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me" (📖 Psalm 51:10). What is hidden in the heart is open to God's eyes. First 📖 Samuel 16:7 reminds us that "the LORD sees not as a man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart." It is essential, therefore, to Guard The Heart. LIVING BY GOD'S STANDARDS 📖 Ephesians 4:17–32 is a valuable, highly practical explanation of how to live out a Christian life. Paul notes the difference between a life wallowing under the power of sin, as opposed to a life thriving in the power of Christ. Christians are called on to ''put away'' the things which entangle unbelievers. This includes sins such as malice, slander, commotion, and bitterness. Instead, we should demonstrate a Christ-like attitude of love and forgiveness. THE COURAGE TO REPENT Paul has written about the deep sorrow experienced by the Corinthians in response to his letter to them. They grieved deeply over their sinfulness. Paul has not dismissed that pain, but he has said he rejoices because it led to their repentance from sin. In the end, it was for their good and not their harm. Now Paul generalizes this idea to every believer. "Godly grief" produces Repentance: turning away from the sinful path to go in the right direction. That repentance leads to salvation and leaves no regret. Paul may not have in mind here salvation in the sense of a person's eternal destiny. Those in Christ are securely saved because God's forgiveness for sin is irreversible. He may have in mind salvation from sin's painful consequences. Godly grief hurts. It hurts us to recognize our sinfulness and our responsibility for bringing pain to others with our sin. If that hurt leads to repentance, though, it is a pain that frees the believer from regret. In the end, a Christian is glad for the grief that brought them back to the path of life. Worldly grief, on the other hand, leads only to death. Worldly grief is a pain over the consequences of sin that does not lead to repentance. It is only pain followed by more sin followed by more pain. The path of sin always leads to death and destruction and never to life and joyfulness. It honors God. It cultivates humility. We can be “devoted to one another” because it is “in love,” God's love. There is no ulterior motive in our devotion, only a command to obey. Paul is giving a list of short commands to those who are in Christ. He is describing what it means to live as a self-sacrificing Christians. In the previous verse, he wrote that our love for each other must be sincere or genuine. In Romans 12, Paul describes the worship of our God as becoming living sacrifices to our God, giving up seeking what we want from life and learning to know and serve what God wants. That begins with using our spiritual gifts to serve each other in the church. Paul's list of commands describes a lifestyle of setting ourselves aside. Our goal as Christians is to love and lift each other up. We must focus our expectation on eternity and wait with patience and prayer for our Father to provide. We must refuse to sink to evil's level, giving good to those who harm us instead of revenge. We're told to outdo one another in showing honor to each other. If each of us acted on this, every person in the body of Christ would always feel deeply honored by the others and would never be satisfied that we are honoring one another enough. We would be motivated to continue asking, "How Can I Show More Honor Than He Showed To Me?" So in conclusion Romans 12, Paul describes the worship of our God as becoming living sacrifices to our God, giving up seeking what we want from life and learning to know and serve what God wants. That begins with using our spiritual gifts to serve each other in the church. Paul's list of commands describes a lifestyle of setting ourselves aside. This is another one of Scripture's more famous and often-quoted statements. This simple promise from Jesus to His disciples follows a teaching about what God the Father would do for them when two or three of them agreed in prayer about a specific subject (📖 Matthew 18:15–19). Now Jesus adds the reason the Father will do what these two or three disciples of Jesus ask. The key is not their personal power or merit. It is because when two or three of them gather in the name of Jesus, Jesus is there with them. This is a promise for the days to come after Jesus returns to heaven. It is an assurance that He will, in some way, be present among them. It also explains why God the Father will grant these requests made by the disciples. It will be because Jesus is omnipresent—existing in all places—and therefore with them. This must have been comforting to Jesus' disciples as they thought about carrying out these heavy responsibilities He was giving to them. What a weight of responsibility, as well, to make the right choices about what to request from the Father. THE SUFFERING OF AFFLICTION Few lies are as attractive, and poisonous, as the claim that following God is a means to worldly success (📖1 Timothy 6:3–5). The Bible is unequivocal in teaching that earthly life can involve hardship, even for those who are faithful (🥺John 15:19; 📖 2 Corinthians 5:2–6). Jesus' explicit teaching was that Christians should expect hardships, a warning He gave specifically to prevent discouragement in the face of hard times (📖 John 16:33). Liars who teach that wealth, healing, prosperity, or other benefits are waiting for anyone with "enough" faith are not merely unspiritual—they are unbiblical. Paul's experience here is among Scripture's most potent proofs that "word of faith" and other forms of the prosperity gospel are false. This reveals several truths about how God works in the worldly lives of Christians. 1. God is willing to make use of Satan and his demons to accomplish His own purposes. Their attempts to harass God's work and servants can become part of God's strategy to accomplish His exact goals. 2. God's answers to prayer are always subject to His overall will. He may answer "no" to a request to relieve a believer's burden, whether or not that burden comes from a demonic source. If the suffering is helping a Christian to be more dependent on God, it may be accomplishing in us exactly what He wants. 3. It shows us that God's primary concern for His children is not a mortal life of ease and leisure. His first goal is that we trust Him. That means allowing Christ to be strong in places we are weak, and not to resent Him for allowing us to experience that weakness. The strong are tempted to lean on their own strength but the weak have only one place to go, to the strength of Christ 🙌🏾 BE INTENTIONAL IN ALIGNING WITH GOD 🙌🏾 #GodKnowsUs #loveoneanother #GodWithUs #GodsPlansForYourLife #GodsArmy #YouAreGodsBlessings #Godspromises #givingthankstothelord #devotionals #blessedassurence #staywokeinthespirit #itiswritten #scripturewithpatu #jesuschristisborn #godsguidence #godsinfinitewisdom #bibleref #bibleverse #AbidingInChrist #scripturewithpatu #dojusticelovemercyandwalkhumblywithgod #aligningtogodspurpose https://www.instagram.com/p/CLAAk3pHBoE/?igshid=uiqojkwtunca

WE REAP WHAT WE SOW! Paul has been encouraging Christians to live a life marked by the fruit of the Spirit (📖 Galatians 5:19–25) and to support each other in the struggles of life (📖 Galatians 6:1–5). Christianity is all about the grace of God. He gives us good things that we could never have earned on our own. In our sin, we deserve death and suffering. Instead, in Christ, God gives us life and purpose. Still, as Paul states clearly in this verse, the grace of God does not eliminate the principles of choice and consequence. In this life, our decisions will bring with them natural results. We must not lie to ourselves, that because of God's grace and forgiveness of our sins, we will not suffer any harm if we continue to choose sin. To believe such a thing is to mock God, to make light of Jesus' sacrifice for our sin on the cross. What we do in this life does matter, beyond even the question of whether or not we will see heaven. In eternity, our choices will be reflected in our heavenly rewards, for those who are saved (📖 1 Corinthians 3:12–15; 📖 2 Corinthians 5:10), or our eternal punishment, for those who are not (📖 Revelation 20:11–14). Until then, the "crop" we produce between now and the moment of our death is also determined by the "seeds" we plant along the way. God's natural laws of cause and effect still apply, to believers and unbelievers alike. Paul will expand on this idea in the following verses. YOUR SALVATION IS YOUR ARMOR. ❓ Do you ever face doubt and discouragement? The Helmet Of Salvation 📖 Ephesians 6:11 & 17 God and His word encourage His children to view life as a spiritual battle. God even gives us the spiritual tools to defeat doubt, discouragement, and any of the schemes the devil may have. Our salvation and the Holy Spirit, which is the word of God is the ultimate weapon. Against doubt and discouragement, it promises that no matter what happens today we will spend eternity with God. 📖 Ephesians 6:17 speaks about salvation and he speaking more about the salvation of sin. It's referring to hope and insurance of salvation. Ephesians 6:10–20 concludes Paul's practical application of Christianity with a famous series of metaphors. Here, he describes the ''armor of God.'' In this passage, Paul uses the allegory of a Roman soldier's basic equipment to show how the components of Christianity work together as we strive to serve God. The soldier's tools include a belt, breastplate, shoes, shield, helmet, and sword. In parallel, the Christian's implements are truth, righteousness, the gospel, faith, salvation, and the Word of God. Christians are also given prayer. Just as a soldier's equipment is designed for their earthly battle, a Christian's equipment is meant for spiritual warfare.
