Some people are so short-sighted and sting that they forget that money is a tool, it takes great vision to see money as a tool. Before the pandemic, I met with this transit driver, I always go out with him on his bus but for a while during the pandemic, his bus wasn't working so I decided to call him, and we spoke for a while and I told him that I would send him very small money because I don't have much and he so much appreciated it and I was surprised because he had a bus and I didn't have a car or a bus why is he making it look like I gave him a lot of money 😅😅. Some months After the lockdown and everything becoming normal I needed his help and he came in through for me without hesitation. I discovered one principle of life which I believe it's hard to assimilate as humans because of the suffering and hunger we are experiencing, especially in areas where people don't have enough. I had a great night. Saw @tinakerekes and @erikaaq at the #fashionshow at @lambsandwolves in #RedBank today and then went to the #AsburyPark #MemorialDay #carnival, where I caught up with some #highschoolfriends, after all of which I took a picture of #themoon. Now home, I was just speaking with a friend, and it became a brilliant spark. In seeking reassurance, I found a better question that I felt so ready to answer. “What is a star?” We all know more or less, even if it isn’t fully effable in its characteristics. I wanted to be one. I suppose I still do. I suppose I still don’t know what worth I’d have otherwise, at least if worth is the maximum at which I can actualize my joy. I do feel I can touch people in a way that others cannot as easily, but I recognize the inherent arrogance of that statement, and I recoil. Perhaps it’s all in my head and heart, nothing more. After all, a lot of my seeking comes from a deep-borne sense of isolation and insecurity. These days I just give what I can of my joy, my toil, my story, my mystique. And as far as discussing it all on here, I suppose I became a bit calcified. My voice is worth people’s time. Sound, speech, suffering, spirit, stage. Art gifts 72, 73, 74, 75, 76 – Grapes! I made these in rural Indiana, the summer I was 30, in a tiny two-room concrete house, in a row of tiny two-room concrete houses on a wide swath of lawn between soy bean fields. Thanks to my day job in construction, I had the best upper-body strength of my life, I could run a jackhammer, nail gun, screw gun, table saw. I took pride in that, though I began to think for the first time in my life, maybe a desk job wouldn’t be so bad. After work and weekends, a clutch of bored and neglected neighborhood kids attached themselves to me. They "helped" me plant a garden, “played” my musical instruments, watched me prepare meals and begged for scraps of cabbage and apple. They fought over broken and discarded things I intended to throw in the trash. I got them library cards, drove them to get books. They gave me Pokemon cards, because it pained them that I had none. Though they were a handful, though I woke more than once to find D, the most grossly abused and neglected of the lot, standing at my window, watching me sleep, I still cried uncontrollably when, in the aftermath of reporting D’s parents to child protective services, none of them were allowed near me. Instead, they sprawled on our shared lawn, at a distance, shouting the news of their days, while I sat on the stoop shucking corn or sorting beans. D, prohibited from talking to me, communicated in emphatic grunts and gestures. Late nights alone, I drew, and wrote, and played guitar, recommitting myself to nurturing my creative spirit.
