"I'll tear the fibre from the filament / I'll be the limit of your light again" A Series of Small Offerings - II/7 - day15
#a series of small offerings#sleep token fanart#sleep token#so i know there would be questions about this piece so let me just say that#tearing a fiber from a filament is basically trying to separate two things right? but like.. they are small things. connected things#things that are basically impossibly close to each other and part of a whole so tearing them apart is.. an interesting task to say the leas#also the limit of the light.. sleep's influence on the world is limited to going through vessel#and yeah the song's title is give and about giving in and all and i can't go past that and like..#it can be all sorts of giving back and forth and all around but#giving.. by an eldritch being that probably doesn't understand humans properly#could feel forceful. definitely intrusive at times and just all over too much after a point#hence the futile effort for separation of things that became whole#also give for me always has this underlying.. not aggression but.. controlled anticipation.. the moment before the explosion feel#(which is relieved by the next song btw)#anyway yeah#also sorry for the delay but there was not much to do about it we'll just squint and pretend yesterday for me does not happend#sleep token vessel#vessel#vessel i#vessel sleep token#levynn tries to draw

Having spooky thoughts + safe noms
Say its been a few months post ResCas and Ben hasn't returned to the team yet. He's watching from a distance, wanting to reveal himself, but afraid of how he would be received. Especially by Gordn. He's still working up the courage to talk to them when something else makes a move.
Some other eldritch entity. Maybe it's attention was drawn by the events at BM, maybe it was just bad luck, but this new thing is stalking Gordn. Doing typical eldritch bs, making him question reality and slowly spiral into madness, isolating him from the others so he'll be an easier mark.
Ben panics, afraid that he'll lose Gordn without ever having the chance to make up for all that went wrong, so he intervenes. Its not exactly the cleanest attempt, this thing has had time to work on its target. And when Gordn sees him, the human assumes that either Ben was behind his suffering this whole time, or that whatever is haunting him now is rubbing it in his face that he killed this dude in an alien world and left him there. Gordn is not doing well at all.
Bens intervention causes the Other to speed up its process, unwilling to give up its prey. So Ben more or less beats it to the punch. Before it can drag Gord into whatever helldimension it resides in, Ben grabs Gordn and pulls him into himself, forgoing a few laws of reality to get him to safety. The human is stored deep within himself, out of the Others reach. (He could probably do rapid painless digestion and absorption for good measure. This thing isn't taking his human, no way, no how)
Gordn probably doesn't fight back all that much. Some weak thrashing at first, but then he succumbs to despair. The despondency doesn't last too long, as Ben starts projecting concern and protectiveness, a far cry from the malevolent glee of the Other. Gordn doesn't fully understand what's going on, but after being hunted so long, he finally feels truly safe. Gentle warmth completely flooding him, he falls into a deep sleep, and Ben keeps him safe inside as he finds a way to deal with the Other.
(Theoretically Ben could fuck up the trespasser himself, but he's wary of risking Gordn in the fight, so he probably stirs up a small fuss to get old man Gs attention and go "hey, you got this thing just running around? deal with it maybe?")
And when the threat has passed, Ben gently coaxes Gordn awake, talking to him and assuring him that he's okay, it's over, he's safe. Gord doesn't quite know how to take it, still held within, and it's a lot to process, learning that Ben is back, he's not out for vengeance, and also he himself had been in such danger before, but now that danger is over and Ben kept him safe? Absolutely surreal.
Ben more or less moves in to help Gordn recover, and they're both on much better terms when they properly reunite with the sci team. Explanations are made, feels are had, and they all work together to heal.
Even with the assurance that the Other is gone for good, Gordn probably gets anxious enough that he asks Ben to take him inside, hide him away. Ben is happy to help ease his fears, and it makes him feel better too, to keep the human within himself. It helps when Gordn is questioning reality again, bc Ben becomes his reality, and he can be certain that he is safe and he is loved.
no bad times, only cuddle cave.......
