Back when I bought this place in 2017 there was no light over my sink. IKEA came to the rescue then and I've just had this very basic bare bulb ever since. Not what I wanted but it served the purpose until something better could be found. Eventually I found this gorgeous fixture on Facebook marketplace, and bonus it was only $20. Anyone who has ever searched for just the right light fixture can tell you that they can be shockingly expensive. I've seen similar fixtures listed for upwards of $500. I KNOW! It's ridiculous right? Unfortunately it needed to be rewired but a little DIY never stood in my way. I don't know what the previous owner used it for but it was set up for a 500 watt bulb. I'm really hoping they used it outside for the sake of their retinas. Anyway... John rewired it for me and hung it up tonight and I am loving it. It fits my aesthetic perfectly and casts a softly diffused glow over my kitchen that seems to take it back in time about a hundred years or so. My home isn't 100 years old as much as I wish it was but you know what they say, fake it till you make it. Maybe someday I'll have a 100+ year old farmhouse, maybe I won't, but I can make what I have look the way I want it to.
