I’m pretty much a badass so it was expected that I was the one to defeat Kronika. There was one thing I wasn’t sure about. The hourglass.

Changing history would mean the relationships I’ve made along the way would be forgotten. And I would go back to being the evil bitch in the Black Dragon.

In the new timeline, I made it exactly how it should be. Liu Kang and Kung Lao heroes. Shang Tsung, Shao Kahn, and the others casted away like they never existed.

Everything was supposed to be peaceful.

I started to feel a newfound boredom. Because there was no chaos and I made everything perfect, there was nothing. Absolutely nothing.

The people I’ve once cared about had no recollection of me and I didn’t know what to be. The only reason why I was one of the good guys was because of the people that were near and dear to my heart.

So I did what I do best, I played the bad guy.

And damn does it feel good to be the bad guy again.

MK Lads x Love-Goddess!S/O Who Drinks and Gambles

Doesn't see any contradictions in your status as a Love Goddess and your hobbies. You're a god, who's dating a (very handsome and powerful) god, and you drink and gamble, nothing wrong there. In fact, he enjoys that he can relax around you, you prove that gods can still have fun!

Kung Lao

Thinks he can beat you in drinking and gambling, oh how wrong he is. By the time Lao is facing near-fatal levels of alcohol poisoning on the floor, he comes to understand that deities can't really get drunk, and that he was a fool for underestimating you.

Fujin

Canonically, Fujin also likes to get drunk and gamble, what a match made in heaven! The best part is bringing along your mortal friends on a night out, their drunken antics can keep the two of you entertained for millennia.

Raiden

Respects love as a vital part of life and the human condition but might have an issue with your habits if they affect how others (especially mortals) see him. It doesn't exactly bode well if the guardian of Earthrealm's S/O is out every night cleaning out bars and casinos. He may ask that you rein it back for his sake.

Kuai Liang (Sub Zero)

Is very honoured to be the partner of a Love Goddess, but is concerned by your drinking and gambling. Gambling is not inherently wrong and is actually a popular hobby throughout most of the Chinese diaspora, but drinking and gambling is what he has a problem with. Alcohol isn't a great habit for anyone to have, and he thinks as a god you should show a better example.

Hanzo Hasashi (Scorpion)

The Japanese culturally link alcohol consumption to success, so he has no problem with your drinking. However, gambling is a different story. Being an immortal deity does give you an unfair advantage, and Hanzo doesn't like that you can so easily strip mortals of all their life savings, and he'd ask that you only play on low-stakes bets.

Grey Cloud (Nightwolf)

The Native American community isn't fond of being linked to gambling and alcohol. Knowing your loving nature, Grey will educate you on the dark history Native Americans share with European alcohol and why so many casinos are built on reservations. He's hoping that your love for him will make you rethink your habits and how they've negatively impacted his community.

MK1 is such a bizarre experience bc on one hand some characters have benefited a lot from the "universe reset" (Baraka, Reptile, even arguably Shao who is less than a muahahaha conquer villain but someone who actually seems to care about his realm?). Others kind of raise interesting questions, like Shang Tsung : is he doomed to be bad or can he be good for a change? (In the story he choses to become a snake-oil salesman before joining the imperial family + there is an Union of Light Shang Tsung so him being good is a thing that could happen).

But then, instead of using that full reset NRS just leaves some things the same? Like. It's a reset. In 2023/2023. That was the perfect moment for implementing some (maybe not lots) changes. Perhaps starting making Johnny canonically bi? Just a small ripple towards a bigger change? Instead of getting stuck in same old ways?

I hated that they essentially just switched Liu Kang and Raiden's places. I started MK1 right after MK11 that i was furious to see Raiden chosen as the champion (IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN MY BOY KUNG LAO LET HIM SHINE ISTG) and then flirting with Kitana with Liu Kang's exact line (I hope we meet again under different circumstances)??? Tf??

I understand that some plot elements are too good to change but character romances? Don't replace one side of the pairing, then try to serve it to the audience again! Reboot should give us more variety of character designs, stories, dynamics, and relationships. Give us the genderbent, queer, poc characters BC YOU'RE NOT EVEN SACRIFICING ANYTHING when we literally have infinite alternative timelines you can recall classics from. For example, we have our human Raiden and old man titan Raiden. We can do variety. I wanna see female Fujin, i wanna see Scorpion Harumi and fighter Suchin, i want actual deserved queer representation in Kung Jin, and i. wanna. see. canon Johnshi!

My hypothesis is that NRS is gonna bring in mk children through dimensional travel so that they don't need to age up our current characters. I'm saying this to push my point further that we don't need to repeat romance plotlines (dont come at me. I have bais just as you have bais for ur fav old pairings)

Listen, i loved Sonya and Johnny in previous games, her and Cassie were a huge part of Johnny's character arc, but since Johnny is already maturing by the end of mk1, i don't see a point in Cageblade anymore (very controversial but it's my blog so i will yap as much as i want) We are not erasing anything by possibly making Johnny queer. Johnny and Sonya can be married in different timeline and Cassie is still their child. If anything, we are enriching the character, expanding the universe. Really, I don't wanna buy the exact same game story in different graphics. I don't want to see Suchin die again just to serve Kenshi and Takeda's dynamic.

And don't even get me started again on heteronormality of the game. We have 6 realms that have diverse variety of biological and sociological configurations AND YOU'RE TELLING ME THEY ARE ALL HETEROSEXUAL?? NRS is a fucking pussy for not having enough queer representation. They think they can give us vague "blink, you will miss it" moments and move on. There are so many high selling good games with good lgbtq characters. Literal 2023's the game of the year, BG3 is so fucking gay that it's off to space and you're telling me that NRS is just going 🥺👉👈 but our fans 🥺👉👈

Since your requests are open: could you do a fic about MK11 Fujin hearing the reader sing and he thinks it’s absolutely beautiful, so the reader does a mini concert with just him watching?

A/N: Thank you for the songs and for my first fic request that doesn't involve my usual Mortal Kombat men! I hope I do Fujinn justice, as he seems like a chill dude. Oh! And for the song in this fic, I went with "The Voice" by Celtic Woman. I'd thought it would be fitting with its elemental lyrics. I'll also try to keep these requests as gender-neutral as possible unless specified otherwise.

The Voice

Being the god of the Wind came with many perks. Not only is Fujin granted with divine power, but also the ability to fly and ride on the winds to wherever he desires. Currently, the wind god has no specific location where he desires to reach. Fujin is currently content with riding the winds on a rare peaceful day in Earthrealm, with no sign of an upcoming attack from Outworld's inhabitants. That is until the demi-god caught wisps of a melody within his breeze. The melody carried soft notes with an almost haunting quality to it. Fujin eases his winds to a halt within a forest, waiting to hear more of the melody.

His patience is rewarded when he hears it dancing on the breeze again. Fujin judges by the volume of the music, its source isn't too far from him. With footsteps light as the wind he commands, the demi-god treks through the woods, the music becoming louder and clearer with each step he takes. Eventually, his search takes him to a clearing with some mostly smooth boulders in the center. On top of those boulders sat a young adult Earthrealmer plucking at the strings off a worn but loved fiddle. They occasionally would play some notes before following them by singing in possibly the most beautiful voice he's ever heard in all of his existence.

"I am the voice in the wind and the pouring rain. I am the voice of your hunger and..."

The earthrealmer trails off before letting a huff of frustration which is when Fujin decided to make his presence known.

"Why did you stop?"

"Gah!"

You let out a shout in surprise, fumbling with your fiddle and bow as they almost fell from your arms. Fujin holds up his hands in a placating manner as he takes another step into the clearing with a soft expression on his face.

"Forgive me, I didn't mean to startle you,"

"Are you blind?"

You cut off the strange looking newcomer, taking in his bright pale eyes and long silver braid.

"Pardon?"

"Your eyes. They're really white as if you're blind. Are you?"

Fujin gives an amused grin.

"No and I am glad. Otherwise, I'd never get to see you sing err..."

"Y/N, the name's Y/N. Do you have one too stranger?"

You are quick to ask as you turn your head away from the tall and handsome newcomer, hoping he doesn't see your flustered expression.

"My name is Fujin."

The demi-godd decides to leave it at that, for now, not wanting to further surprise you and possibly drive you away by revealing his role as one of Earthrealm's divine protectors and god of the wind.

"So Fujin, you caught me at a bit of a bad time,"

"And why is that?"

Fujin gently asks. You look around at anything but the newcomer, while running your fingers along your bow.

"Well, I'm supposed to be composing a song. I have the notes but I don't quite have all the words."

"If it helps, your singing is very beautiful."

"Oh uhhh, thank you."

You blush as you start to absentmindedly pluck a few notes of your fiddle. Fujin is now just a few feet away from you, close but with respectable distance between you.

"I would like to listen to more of your work, if you'll allow it."

"Sure! Uh- I mean- I mean, sure. That would be wonderful. I could use a muse anyways."

You then stand up on your feet, realizing how you're only just slightly taller than Fujin with the platform beneath you. You dust yourself off, you then hop onto a higher boulder. After making a few adjustments with your fiddle's strings, you start to sing.

Fujin was fortunate enough to snatch snippets of your singing while he was riding the winds, but those pale in comparison to hearing you right in front of him. Your voice is strong and proud. It is ethereal and eerie. It is as if listening to the Elder gods sing themselves.

When you start to play your fiddle for the musical segment of your song, you jump down from your boulder to start skipping around the clearing. You almost appear to be floating on air, and actually do at one point, but you hardly notice as you're too engulfed by the music. Around you and Fujin, the wind starts to blow and picking up the fallen leaves, filling the clearing with a myriad of warm colors.

"I am the Voice of the past that will always be filled with my sorrows and blood in my fields!

I am the Voice of the future! Bring me your peace... Bring me your peace and my wounds... They will heal."

Throughout your mini concert, Fujin's gaze never wavered from your form as if trying to commit every move and gesture to memory. As you paint a rhapsody with your body but write a requiem with your song. At last, it comes to a stop and so the Demi-god does the only thing he could think to do and claps.

You give a beaming smile at Fujin before taking a pantomime bow.

"Thank you, thanks for being such a great audience and muse."

You then blow him a kiss.

ESP GREEK & ROMAN GODS ✨ AYO, YOU A REAL ONE FOR ASKING THIS QUESTION, TY JANN! 💜 I hope you don’t mind this analysis… 😅 (Took a long time to write because there was a lot of research LMAO, I'M SORRY THIS TOOK ME FOREVER TO ANSWER. 🙏🏽) BUT NOW, I CAN PROUDLY POST THIS. 🫡 💖

While matching each god to a Lookism character, I found this very fun because there are so many mythological gods and goddesses that can be associated with any of them. Especially when it comes to their appearances, symbols, and folklore. The depictions of these gods all tie to each of these selected Lookism characters:

Gun and Goo || Fujin & Raijin (Shintoism)

First, let’s start off with Gun. There are many reasons why I see Gun as the Shinto god, Fujin, and here’s why:

Fujin [風神] is known to be the Shinto kami (god) of the wind. A deity that controls the winds of the Earth through his bag of air.

Due to his control of strong wind currents, he is connected to storms, especially powerful typhoons, that would cause the destruction of many trees and and homes. However, Fujin leaves most of the job to Raijin.

According to a Japanese legend from the 13th century, he managed to save Japan by sending storms to Mongol invaders who were trying to conquer Japan. Fujin’s winds were so ruthless, that the Mongol’s fleets were all destroyed in one storm.

Fujin and Gun are both forces to be reckoned with. Fujin’s destructive actions are similar to Gun’s, in which they both initiate both ruin and devastation. Since Fujin had wiped out over a thousand people for centuries, then it wouldn’t be a surprise if Gun’s future would eventually lead to the downfall of many more lives. This man had dealt with so many enemies (100+) all the way up to his current lifetime of about 20 years, that it wouldn’t even be a surprise if he so happens to murder even more people later on.

Also, since Fujin is associated with the use of harsh winds intermingled with water due to typhoons and storms, they are involved in a shared element. The nature element, water, represents them both in some way. Both Fujin and Gun are present whenever it rains. On days when there’s rain, Fujin’s winds are harsh during storms. Whereas, in Gun’s case, he is always present on days when the weather is rainy and gloomy. However, for Gun, he just appears when there’s rain to pass along the message of “the end” for people, especially when it comes to a person not being able to hold their position as Gun’s future successor. You could say, that the both of them also symbolize the presence of melancholy, since they both bring nothing but misfortune upon people during unpleasant weather. They play as the instigators of the end to peacefulness.

Fujin has an appearance of a true Oni, due to his mother Izanami giving birth to him when she reached the underworld. According to Gun’s background when he was still in Japan, many knew him as “Shiro Oni”. In the webtoon, the translation for his name was “White Ghost”. However, the word “Oni” actually meant ogre or demon in Japanese folklore. Of course, it wouldn’t be a surprise that many native Japanese residents would call him a demon due to his infamous yet terrifying background of nothing but merciless violence.

Not only was Fujin’s face alike from Gun’s, but also their attire. Apparently, Fujin usually wears leopard skin. And who else wore something leopard related? Gun Park. That leopard patterned long sleeved shirt really does say something about his fashion. He definitely must be Fujin, but in human form. Both of them really do share the same fashion sense. 💀

In addition to his face and attire, but Fujin only has four fingers on each hand. These four fingers represent the North, South, East, and West. In a way, this association of Gun as Fujin can be symbolic as well. Gun’s affiliation with the Four Major Crews can be shown through Fujin’s fingers since Gun, who had contributed to the establishment of these Four Major Crews, identified the strongest crews in South Korea. Each crew either coming from the North, South, East, and West of the Han River, which splits their territories into four different parts of South Korea.

Gun has the same personality trait as Fujin as well. Fujin is described to be the brother who is less spontaneous in personality, compared to Raijin. He is also unenthusiastic whenever he is met with some sort of issue that he has to deal with and he is more “laidback”, not taking things too seriously against enemies. This is probably due to how aware he is of his own powerful strength. The same goes with Gun. His personality when dealing with those who are against him is also like this as well, with a hint of arrogance, knowing that he can defeat anybody on his own.

Now, let’s talk about Goo as Raijin:

Raijin [雷神] is the Shinto kami of thunder, lightning, and storms. Often times, he’s seen alongside his brother, Fujin. They both mostly appear together as a pair, like Gun and Goo whenever they show up in certain scenes. (However, the only difference compared to Fujin and Raijin is that Gun and Goo aren’t brothers.)

To clarify, Raijin is responsible for the creations of storms, not Fujin. Fujin is only responsible for strong wind currents, so he leaves the work of thunder clouds and lightning to his brother, Raijin.

Raijin’s personality is one of the distinctive factors that many people use to distinguish between Raijin and Fujin. Similarly, with Gun and Goo too. The difference in personalities in each pair are quite the same indeed. Just like Raijin’s personality, Goo’s is very chaotic and he can be mischievous with trickery. Even though Raijin is known as a trickster, he either does good or bad. He produces good in the form of rainfall for crops or he creates storms that destroys both the living and non-living.

Just like Goo, he’s a character that brings good and bad in his own way. In a unique way, he gives people opportunities to help fulfill their own ambitions, by becoming one of his “secret friends”. For example, Goo used to beat up bullies to earn money. In a way, he somehow benefited others, such as that one event when Goo saved his cousin, Vasco, and Jace from school bullies. His encounter with Vasco had led Vasco to become stronger than he was before. In addition to these “good” occurrences, Goo offered Samuel Seo a new chance of power after being rejected by Gun, in which Samuel took him on his offer then became one of Goo’s so called “secret friends”. Another instance of this is when Goo recruited Logan Lee as another one of his “secret friends” too. Logan wanted to get stronger since his goal is to get back at the original Daniel Park, so this event was like Goo opening up a new beneficial start for Logan.

Although this was the case for some people, Goo also managed to cause distruction wherever he goes. Returning to the subject of the bullies, he did beat them up pretty badly. He even found it amusing to see them suffer. With almost every person that he had fought against, he had this maniacal enjoyment that he found in defeating others. It was as if he had fun beating up others just for the sake of his own amusement. Along with his chaotic mind, he took his destructiveness with him, just like Raijin. According to that one chapter when Sinu got a phone call from one of his old friends, his friend mentioned through the phone that he should be careful of someone named “Joon Goo” who had completely wiped out their whole entire crew. Which quickly indicated and foreshadowed, that Goo would eventually cause trouble for Big Deal.

Sinu Han || Heracles/Hercules (Greco-Roman Mythology)

There are some reasons why I believe that Sinu Han should be Heracles:

Even though Heracles was known as a demi-god (only a mortal), he became the god of heroes and the divine protector of mankind when he died. (This is completely unrelated to Sinu in comparison, but just wanted to address that Heracles isn’t a god when he completed his heroic deeds.)

As a defender for all, Heracles acts like a public servant. Throughout most of his lifetime, he protects civilians who are in dire need of help. Just like Heracles, Sinu Han’s mindset is similar. For about 10 years, he protected a street in Gangseo, in which he had dedicated himself to serve as the defender for the women who loved that street. It was his home. Even Heracles loved Greece and had thrown himself into dangerous situations just to defend his home.

Heracles rescued so many beings in need. A special being that he rescued was Prometheus. No matter how bad he may be as a titan to the gods, he was willing to set Prometheus free due to how he had helped humanity for giving them fire. Sinu Han's character is similar to Heracles since he is the type of person to set someone free, regardless if they have done something bad in the past. What matters is how good of a person's character is, and how they contribute to serving others. I can see Sinu letting someone go if they changed for the better, and by giving them another chance to redeem themself. For instance, even though this hasn't been directly approved by Sinu (but by Jake), Lineman used to be a character who caused trouble and lied to others, thinking that he was a big-shot. However, he changed by being accepted by Jake Kim into Big Deal and if Jake approves of these people who he have gained as his friends (or followers), then Sinu approved of them for being good people and they eventually became members of Big Deal. (Hence, believing in Jake's jurisdiction in finding good in others.)

Although he may be a well-known mythological hero, many do not know how much he had suffered. There was a time when Heracles was enslaved, and he was bought by the Lydian Queen Omphale. She made him do many things as a slave, such as forcing him to wear women's clothing (to humiliate him) and spun wool to help her and her maidens. Omphale did fall in love with Heracles, but eventually she set him free (and they got married). Alike from Sinu Han's situation, Mitsuki Soma was head over heels for Sinu, that she wanted him for herself. Treated like a slave, Sinu had to endure hardships of being her "lover". Manipulated and controlled by Mitsuki due to a mystery drug that made him forget his memories, Mitsuki made him stick by her side, in which she made him shower together. Sinu's identity and memories were twisted by her, which gave Mitsuki the power to successfully manipulate him for a long time (until Jake Kim had to rescue Sinu from The Workers).

Jake Kim || Balder (Norse Mythology)

This is why Jake Kim can be seen as Balder:

Balder is known to be not just the Norse god of light, joy, and summer. Jake Kim usually brought light and joy to people's lives, especially during his middle school days when he'd start getting himself involved with Big Deal. He had made a lot of friends and allies along the way, which would influence (I'll ignore Balder's death, and will be focusing more on his personal aspects, features, and his background that are similar to Jake's.)

Like Balder, Jake Kim shares handsome features and is a very attractive man. He has a bright smile just like Balder, and he has fair hair. In Norse mythology, it was said that Balder was so noble and handsome, that light shines down on his body in which flowers would bow down before him as he passes by.

Also he is the representation for the themes of justice, beauty, hope, and sacrifice. During the Jake Kim Arc, he sacrificed himself, especially for Big Deal who sought for the rescue of Big Deal's Former No. 1, Sinu Han.

(Side Note: I didn't want to associate Jake Kim with Eros because even though he's good-looking and is strongly related to the idea of "love" and "Romanticism", Eros is usually described as mischievous and unsympathetic due to him shooting arrows at people regardless of how they think/feel. It is the complete opposite to Jake's personality, in which he is considerate and kind towards others.)

Samuel Seo || Mercury (Roman Mythology)

Let me explain why I see Samuel as Hermes:

Mercury is well-known for being the messenger god AND the god of commerce. Alike from Samuel, Samuel specializes in business-related work and he manages finances really well. At one point, he was very close with Eugene and Samuel acted like a messenger to Eugene, since he reports to him about what goes on in the affiliates when Samuel used to be president for some of the affiliates.

Mercury had a dependent role in managing the gods. Just like Mercury, Samuel as well. He was close with the higher-ups of the Workers (especially Eugene) in which he was positioned by him to manage the 3rd and 4th affiliate of Workers. Both of their roles is to keep the gods or Workers

Even though Mercury’s role might seem “helpful” at first, do not be fooled by Hermes’s appearance, because he isn’t who he seems to be. Just like Samuel when he was first introduced in the Lookism series, we didn’t quite expect him to turn out the way that we know him now.

Mercury favors the ambitious, so he supports those who are willing to reach their goals, no matter how wicked they are. Going off by his “work smarter, not harder" ideology, Samuel is quite the ambitious man. He’s willing to reach higher things, in order to accomplish his dream as someone who’s powerful. Or, as he likes to refer to himself someday as a “King”. (As mentioned to Jake.)

As a god who defends tricksters and thieves, Hermes likes toying with others. He even favors cleverness and amusement. During the Workers (3 Affiliates) Arc, Samuel's behavior is shown as one who likes toying with others, initiating the start to Johan's rage when he found out that the Workers' Third Affiliate used to sell drugs to Pungsan, which was the God Dog cult that was ran by the former church pastor.

James Lee || Shiva “The Destroyer” (Hindu Mythology)

Here is why I believe James Lee should be Shiva:

Shiva is mainly known as "The Destroyer" and "The Creator" of worlds, in Hindu mythology. He even represents time as well. James Lee was known to be the man who ended the First Generation by defeating all of the First Generation Kings, which fits his character of being "The Destroyer". Consequently, causing the spark of a new generation, which is the emergence of the Second Generation. In this case, being "The Creator" does suit him because he is literally the catalyst to a new generation of fighters. You can also say, that he manipulates time if he were to be Shiva in this context.

Shiva also represents goodness, benevolence, and is said to be "The Protector". In a way, James Lee shows signs of "good" nature and benevolence, in which he acts as a guide to Daniel Park, in finding the secret to his two bodies. And even though James Lee isn't known as "The Protector", he did protect Charles Choi in the past. By aiding him as the company's head for an entertainment agency, he protected Charles' business by supporting him through this method.

This Hindu god is also named the "Lord of the Dance" or Nataraja, according to a Hindu artwork called, "Shiva Nataraja". From the statue, it depicts Shiva dancing in a halo of fire (which represents time), and Shiva stepping on a dwarf with one foot (which is a creature that represents illusion, who leads men astray from the actual truth). Metaphorically, this relates to James Lee because James Lee had the urge to find out the truth about the secret of the two bodies, and is willing to do anything to achieve his goal. Even if it meant betraying Charles Choi, by allying himself with The Workers, specifically Eugene.

Canonically confirming from the Webtoon, it is known that James Lee has a huge penis. Well, so does Shiva. In Hinduism, Shiva is associated with lingas, or phallic symbols, which represents fertility. 🍆

The ELDER gods are the oldest and most powerful gods, they reside in the spiritual heavens at the highest point of positive energies. Their duty is to rule over their respective dominion (ex: Centron, life and order. Shinnok, death and chaos. Kronika, time's future. Gerus, time's past.) They cannot go to the physical planes without giving up a good chunk of power just to stay in a stable form. They retain their power via an amulet they can use at their discretion, the downside is that its pure godly power condensed in a physical form that a mortal could obtain.

The GODS are like the elder gods except their place is in the physical plane. They can only draw their power while in the realm they're born in, otherwise they'd need a special amulet to traverse realms and keep their power. But unlike the amulets of the elders, their amulets require the jinsei of their respective realm to recharge it. Gods have the highest authority of a realm and as such are designated to protect it. Many gods have come and gone, most have died during the heavenly war against shinnok and have yet to reincarnate. Raiden and fujin are the only few known Gods to have survived the heavenly war.

DEMI gods are just a being born of the union of a mortal and a god. They could ascend to godhood, but not without a special trial from the elder gods. And there has not been known a demigod to ascend to godhood. The only known demigod is rain, bastard son of argus.

After grinding for souls and opening one last divine pack before it expires and chanting to either get FUJIN or MK11 RAIN and their equipments, Boon decided to troll me again and give me RAIDEN and his storm hat.

Still RAIDEN is a good character card, a diamond at that which is way better than a gold sh*tty card like what they always give us yeah but I want a FUJIN fusion or the other RAIN for their passives 😭

Monster Hunters concepts Pt. 6: Serpents of Wind and Thunder

With lightning and hurricane we sear and slice For we are the architects of true paradise

Prolly one of the bangerest lines of Rise monster intros... For a final boss that is probably not the best. Ibushi and Narwa are two flying elder dragons that serve as the final boss for the story in Monster Hunter Rise, the source of the Rampage.

These two are based on the Japanese deities of wind and thunder, Fujin and Raijin, each control their respective elements that combined create disastrous storms, other motifs on their design include royalty and marine species such as moray eels to fit the under the sea ambience of the Coral Palace. Ibushi's membranes resemble flowing wind, while its inflatable air sacs are supposed to resemble the "bag of winds" Fujin carries on its back, as for Narwa, the strange flaps resemble a fiery mane, while the floating rocks it uses during the battle might resemble the drums that surround Raijin. While these traits are fine I don't really think their final designs stand out that much, the only peculiar thing is their divided jaws and their upside-down floating.

Regarding their etymology, their English names are just shortened versions of their Japanese ones with the title <thunder/wind serpent> preceeding them, which is fine I guess considering how long their original names are. The final form of Narwa is known as Narwa the Allmother.

Ibushi in Japanese is Ibushimakihiko, a combination of Ibuki 息吹 (to breathe), Shimaki 風巻 (strong wind) and Hikogami 比古神 (male god).

Narwa in Japanese is Naruhatatahime, a combination of Narukami 鳴神 (an old Japanese play about a monk sealing a rain dragon inside a waterfall), Hatata 霹靂 (violent thunder) and Himegami 比売神 (female god, additionally hime also means princess).

Entry 123: The Kids Are Good Now!

I’ve saved this DLC for last, out of hope that it will be good. Heirs of Fate was a six-part DLC, focussed on the child characters. I know very little about it, but assume it will be similar to Future Past, an equivalent DLC from Awakening.

Xenologue 15: Heirs of Fate I: In Endless Dreams

The chapter begins with Shigure in Valla narrating about something that happened in another realm. In this realm, the child units weren't recruited. Corrin and company won the war, but on the same day they were victorious, armies attacked the children. The army split up to save their kids and died in battle. The chapter cuts to female Kana walking alone in the rain, saying that, if she was stronger, then maybe Corrin wouldn't have died.

Kana runs into Mitama and Selkie, who've been through the same thing. Kana explains Corrin told her to run and heard screams behind her as she fled. She waited for Corrin to come back, but he never did. Mitama explains that she slept through Azama yelling for her to wake up and that, by the time she awoke, her home was destroyed. She lost sight of Azama and assumes he is dead. She wonders if he would have lived if she woke up sooner. Selkie says she saw Kaden's torn scarf, but no body, and hopes he's still alive.

Vallite soldiers pop up. Selkie wants revenge, but Mitama points out they're outnumbered and tells her she must honor Kaden's sacrifice. The girls spot Hisame and Kiragi fighting Vallite soldiers in the distance. Kiragi has the Fujin Yumi, but misses because he hasn't practiced with it. Hisame says to run away. Kana, Selkie, and Mitama run in to help the others. Kiragi says he needs to save his father by beating the Vallite soldiers. He refuses to run and finally manages to kill the soldiers.

Kana asks him to teach her how to use legendary weapons, so she can rescue her father. Kiragi recognizes her sword as Yato and tells her to keep trying until it works. Yato transforms into Noble Yato as more soldiers appear. Kana kills one with Yato. Hisame realizes that they need to fight together because running would put them in danger. Selkie convinces Mitama to fight too.

The battle begins, reusing the map from Xander's boss fight in Birthright. This chapter is a defeat the boss map. Said boss is Siegbert? But like, a ghostly Vallite Siegbert. Soleil, Ingatius, Percy, and Velouria fight alongside him. This chapter was surprisingly difficult, after having played Revelation. Fates is filled with things like My Castle, Supports, and grinding to cheese the game, but this map forced me to use weak, under-leveled children who can't gain exp. It was actually a really fun map.

After the battle, Azura's ghost pops up. She doesn't say her name but I have eyes. The kids recognize her for some reason. Azura gives Kana a dragonstone and tells her to upgrade Yato into the Fire Emblem. Kana asks if the dads are dead. Azura doesn't know, but says they promised her they would live life to the fullest. She hints at the fact that she faded away at the end of Birthright and Conquest, explaining why she's a ghost. She hints that something is strange about the ghost soldiers.

Back in Valla, narrator Shigure sings the Birthright version of Lost In Thoughts All Alone, saying it's for players who bought Birthright. He explains that the song can grant miracles, but says once you take hold of it, your soul will sink below the waves, unable to be reached by anyone. He says that, despite this, he can't stop himself from doing what must be done...

Fuck that was good! The map was solid and the writing left me intrigued! I want to know more. More importantly, the kids are complex characters! I think the thing that made the Awakening kids work better is the grief, the fact that they lost their parents. This chapter gives the Fates kids that same grief. I love Kana hating herself for being weak, Mitama blaming her sleepiness for her father’s death, Selkie foolishly clinging to hope, Kiragi refusing to give up in the face of adversity, and Hisame being a loyal protector of his liege. This chapter rocks!

Support: Caeldori/Nina

C: Caeldori asks Nina to teach her how to stealth. Nina is excited because Caeldori is super talented. B: The two of them go on a scouting mission together and discuss battle strategies. A: Caeldori and Nina take out enemies by having one of them act as a distraction. Review: Very boring. Nina being in awe of Caeldori could be interesting, but this Support doesn't do anything with it.

Support: Hisame/Fana

C: Kana sees Hisame practicing swordfighting and asks him to fight her. She turns into a dragon because she read a book about knights beating dragons and wants to beat a knight. Hisame refuses.

B: Hisame explains that stories of fighting dragons aren't real and that he couldn't fight Kana with storybook zeal. Kana still wants to fight.

A: Kana calls Hisame a dashing knight, so Hisame decides to instead do a swordfight between two knights. Kana agrees.

S: Hisame sees the storybook and realizes that Kana could also be the princess in the tower. Kana suggests they reinterpret the book so it's about a dragon saving a boy. Hisame decides to write stories for Kana.

Review: Kana wanting to beat up a knight is fun and Hisame is nice and understanding. This one is good.

Support: Dwyer/Ophelia

C: Dwyer makes Ophelia tea. She thinks it's amazing and legendary, which means Dwyer is a chosen one.

B: Ophelia comes up with better names for Dwyer's tea.

A: Ophelia says the name tea is boring, but relents when Dwyer threatens to stop making tea.

S: Dwyer tries to do Ophelia's chuni shit when he tells her he loves her.

Review: A really good S-Rank preceded by three mediocre Supports.

Support: Shigure/Velouria

C: Velouria asks Shigure to paint a painting of her garbage collection because she has to throw some of them out.

B: Shigure paints it in a way that makes it look beautiful out of an attempt to capture Velouria's point of view. Velouria is annoyed, because she has eyes and knows what her garbage looks like.

A: Shigure remakes the painting, this time more accurate. Velouria thinks it's wonderful. Velouria also keeps the first painting, because it was a gift from a friend.

S: Shigure explains that Velouria likes things associated with death and decay. She thinks that things that show nothing in life is permanent are beautiful and embraces the impermanence of life. Shigure finds Velouroia interesting. Velouria insists there is no deeper meaning, but agrees to a date.

Hello! Searching once more on tumblr now that the newest Mortal Kombat game, Mortal Kombat 1 has been released recently, I’m looking to see if anyone would like to roleplay perhaps on Discord, willing to share my tag in DM's but feel free to DM me if interested!

I’m 22 and I would prefer my partner be above the age of 18 due to the fact MK is a violent, mature game I would expect my partner to be of age preferably as I do not roleplay with minors! I won’t spoil anything for those are still playing and learning the game’s story as it has just been released so I am willing to wait if they’re still learning! But for sure I am up to playing through the story with an oc x canon story, which I can double up happily too to make it fair and even for my partner as I’m all about making things fair for my partner where both ocs (Or if my partner wants a CC x CC story on their side.) have a good plot, same length of replies and to have fun whether the stories can mix! Mortal Kombat has a lot of chances to explore that side!

In a distant land there is a thundercloud-covered mountain where an eternal storm rages. It’s said that once upon a time it was merely a normal mountain, until a storm rolled through. In an act of fate, a bolt of lightning and its resulting thunder brought the mountain itself to life, and the twins Thunder Cookie and Lightning Cookie emerged from the heavens themselves, two halves of one whole. Since then, these two have brought the storm wherever they go. 

it's been 800 years, here's more finished cookie art... these two are legendaries (a legendary?) that play like chess choco cookie, running at the same time and trading off. thunder, left, is female, and lightning, right, is male.

Rating: Legendary

Ability: Lightning Cookie creates bolts of electricity that arc forward, destroying obstacles in a chain. After three times, he creates a massive lightning strike and trades with Thunder Cookie. Thunder Cookie creates rolling blasts of thunder that batter obstacles in front. After three times, she creates an unbelievably loud shockwave and trades with Lightning Cookie. They also have a gauge that fills over time to enter Storm Mode, which batters the whole world ahead with wind, rains, light and noise. 

Pet: Eclipse Plate - This strange creature seems to be made of a metal found nowhere else in the world. Whether it shows the face of the sun or the face of the moon seems to be entirely up to its whims. People say that if it ever opens its eyes, something bad will happen. 

Pet ability: Alternates between showing the face of the sun and the face of the moon. The gentle darkness restores energy and gives points, while the invigorating sunlight boosts speed and destroys obstacles.

Not to be rude but why oni Ei?

Tis not rude, don't worry but I’ll explain why my Ei’s God form is an Oni! So let's get into the nitty-gritty so I believe everyone who saw Ei leaked design went oh Mei and assumed she would have the glorious red horns too. That and I have a bias to yokais being Onis and Kitsunes!

Ei is easily inspired by Mei and Raijin the God of thunder in Shintoism while Scara is Raiden's counterpart as Fujin. Now Raijin is the master of thunder and lightning, controlling the power of storms. He rains down death and destruction on the world below. His connection to Yomi, the Land of the Dead, is part of his being, made clear through his horrific appearance. With a terrifying, toothy smile, severe eyebrows, and lean, muscular appearance, he dresses in simple pants and has wily, unconquered hair.

His expression is almost always angry or gleefully destructive, like a hungry demon. Despite this, he is often depicted with a traditional Buddhist halo, a common motif around figures that are holy or divine. This halo surrounds all of Raijin, rather than just his head, and is marked by plates covered in various Buddhist, Daoist, and Shinto religious imagery.

I wanted to self-indulge by making her have an oni appearance when she uses that form so as to make it more plausible and reasonable I added more raijin influences giving her the demonic looks like him.
