NOW I'M GONNA RANT ABOUT MY CHARA DESIGNS CHOICES AND ALL THE DISCOVERIES I MADE WHILE LOOKING FOR REFS! If you only care about art and funny doodles, you can scroll down for a handful of slices of life.

(Don't worry if you can't read my notes, I'm repeating myself better right under this)

Leona

-Lion: As you may know, one of my grievances with Leona is how his hair doesn't look like an actual mane despite being a lion. While I don't want to stray too far from the canon design with the usual drawings, that's the occasion for me to have some fun with a future version. Give that lion a beard and voluminous hair!

-Hair: First, get those bangs out of his face. Despite Leona being very confident, he still has bangs covering his scarred eye. I wanted him to finally own the aspects of him that may be scary to others (his UM, his scar, etc). I actually went with bangs framing his face similar to the ones he had during his Overblot. I wasn't sure whether to give him dreadlocks or curly hair, but I ended up choosing the free curls decorated with some atebas and braids so that Vil could have more fun styling them.

-Eye: Thanks @aria-faye for the idea, I decided to have his eye gradually lose its capacities with time. From a headcanon that, while the eye wasn't directly touched by whatever attack scarred him, the process of healing still had an impact on it and he gradually lost sight in his left eye years after years.

-Body: Not giving him a dad bod (yet, maybe in another ten years), but definitely giving him more voluminous yet casual muscles. Practical muscles with a healthy dose of fat and tissues. Also giving him two full sleeves of tattoos because I decided he should have much more than just his lion tattoo.

-Clothes: Went full Maasai dressing and Kenyan fabrics and beadworks. If you're not familiar with it, please go check it out, it's GORGEOUS!! Crown is beadwork too. He also has one Arabic styled foot jewellery.

Jamil

-Hair: My first order was to remove his double-faced hairstyle and also remove his bangs from his eye. Make him confident enough to show his whole face. Unlike Leona and Vil, he doesn't really want a crown though (he still feels weird about becoming royalty) so instead he uses a braid as crown. Also gave him a little goatee because I like facial hair and Jafar has a beard too.

-Body: He grew up! While he didn't quite catch up with Leona and Vil, he is now closer to their sizes than before, sitting at around 180cm. He kept his breakdancer/martial artist lean muscles but developed a bit of shoulders.

-Clothes: Went full Arabic dressing and fabrics (once more, go check the fabrics, they are pieces of arts). I gave him floral motifs instead of his usual fire/snake motifs (though he does have a snake earring and a fangs necklace) to symbolise his rebirth/blooming. Like Leona, he has one piece of jewellery that is beadwork.

Vil

-Hair: Here it was a bit tricky. Considering Vil's work, he likely changes hairstyles a lot, going from long to short for his roles instead of his wants. So I leaned into the little things he could add to his hair despite their constant changes, mostly jewelleries, beadworks and wool decorations he stole from his husbands. He also cares a bit less about them looking perfect and is allowing himself to be more natural. He doesn't have any facial hair (yet), keeping a youthful appearance for as long as he can. In another ten years though, he might start looking more and more like his father, beard included.

-Clothes: For Leona and Jamil's mental states, the three of them most likely started living in Sunset Savanna so they wouldn't freeze to death. Vil is well traveled so he can handle most temperatures without trouble, and he is used to dressing up in the local get ups. Here I decided to give him both African dress and Arabic fabric, and likewise both beadwork and golden jewellery. I gave him crown and heart motifs so he can keep being himself despite borrowing a lot from his husbands.

There, I'm done rambling. Here's some doodles, followed by some random headcanons.

-Vil does his husbands hair every morning and keeps giving them more and more intricate hairstyles. He developed a whole haircare and beard-care products set for them.

-When Vil is away for a movie, Jamil keeps his hair mostly down save for a few accessories.

-Jamil and Falena get along surprisingly well (to Leona's despair). Vil gets along very well with Falena's wife.

-Jamil acts as a Scalding Sands ambassador and still is the one to care for Kalim when he comes to visit, though this time he's doing it because he wants to and not because he has to.

-Vil got used to his new title immediately but Jamil struggles with it a lot. He still has a hard time wrapping his head around the fact that he is no longer a servant.

-The servants at the palace love Jamil because he always makes their job easier.

-Leona finally decided to put his wits to good use and became Falena's advisor. He still fights a lot with Kifaji about the direction to take with the country, but he managed to make some of his ideas heard to help with the staggering inequalities in the country.

Marvel's looks

So you know how it is at least an older canon established that Billy as Marvel looks like his dad or at least what he remembers his dad to look like? I personally lean into a second option of how he remembers his dad because it makes it more interesting plus it helps with the whole awkwardness of him looking like a semi-random or completely random (depends what canon you're going for) dead dude.

So here's the differences I see Billy as Captain having compared to his dad or things that come from his dad's little quirks!

Height: Billy remembers his dad as being massive because he himself was a tiny baby boy. So yeah. Marvel isn't a walking 6'4" feet tall dude because that's his "peak" or whatever but that's how tall comparatively Billy's dad looked like to him at when he was like 4 vs 8 years old.

Build: CC was the strongest man Billy has ever known. He could lift all of them: his mom, his sister and him; proudly proclaiming he is holding his entire universe in his arms. So naturally he was super strong which called for super muscles! So that's why Marvel is build like a tank while CC most likely had a healthy amount muscles from excavating and such but nowhere as much as Marvel and unlike Marvel would've also had a solid amount of extra squish too (we stand dad bods, lmao).

Cleanliness: You know how a decent amount of people have Marvel have a neat self-cleaning option that just comes with the magic form? I personally like the perpetually perfect hairstyle from one of the fanfics I read that joked about it. Even if this might not be something I'll always use to it's maximum extend. Either way. I like to think that the cleanliness of Captain Marvel comes from the fact that CC liked to be overall clean and put together when seeing people or generally outside around the public and generally portray himself as professional: as in wearing full business in casual business because he likes the feeling wearing a suit gives him (Yeah, I see CC to be a weirdo actually enjoying suits and his wife finds it to be an extremely adorable quirk she loves because they both get to be the dressed to the nines couple!)

Face: OK so this one is going to have a bit of sub bits here because I gave CC glasses. I know when he is shown he usually doesn't have them but I have a reason for it and I'll get to it:

4.1. Nose: The shape is different from CC's simply because glasses hide a decent portion of the nose bridge depending on what sort of glasses you get. But generally the bridge would be a bit larger for Marvel.

4.2. Eyes: So you know how in older depictions of Marvel he always squints? You know when people also squint? When they're trying to see better! So yeah for me Marvel has a perpetual squint because he doesn't wear glasses unlike his dad. Who, whenever he took them off, also squinted to see (sometimes exaggerating it to make his kids laugh). So Marvel's form subconsciously squints since there's no glasses on his nose. lol.

4.3. Also eyes: Additionally since CC wears glasses and squints when he takes them off, his vision has to be decently bad. You know what happens when you wear strong glasses? They warp your face. So additionally Marvel has smaller eyes then CC would've had. :P

So yeah that's all I have for now but might edit it if I ever come up with more things like that. If you like the concept feel free to either use it or add to it. This is all a complete fanon. It's for complete funnsies. But I would still like to hear what you think about it!

Adam brainrot with me

Look at this, look how big Adam is compared to Alastor (who is canonically 7 feet tall). This motherfucker must be 12 feet or over. 12 FEET OR OVER, do you realize how fucking enormous this dude must be???

He must give the best fucking hugs in the universe because if he's tall and has a dad bod, then his robe is the same. And his so much happens to look soft as fuck. And his wings, imagine being hugged by him with his wings, absolute heaven.

Speaking of his wings, those fuckers are enormous as well. So they could just swallow you whole if they wrapped around you. Like, you're the only person Adam trusts to preen his wings since he doesn't do it himself (both by their size and because he's let himself go). No, wait, what if in blood lust we start to make sure Adam is doing basic hygiene. And when I say Adam is doing it I mean us, he gets better though :) BUT, I absolutely refuse to make him get rid of his dad bod, keep him squishy.

Like, just look at his lap. It's so sittable. Like imagine that you're just sitting in Adams lap and his arms are wrapped around you lazily while his head is on your shoulder. Grinning cheekily before asking, "feel comfy babe?"

Just like, aggdjzkrbejsudjsisjsjdh I'm in love with this man.

But also, is it just me or is confused and lost Adam the funniest version of him? Like he just looks so confused in the picture and I can't get enough of it. I would love to just spew out the craziest and random shit ever said, and when I look at him, he has a horrified look on his face.

He already lost his two wives to a homewrecker and he doesn't plan for it to happen again, so he's just constantly concerned and worried when he doesn't see you for a few hours. No idea if this is just me and my type or anything. but i 100% believe that König’s is not toned or entirely muscular. he’s a lil chubby, has that middle ground of dad and greek god bod.

You can tell he’s strong just by looking at him, muscles showing through and protruding out more when he flexes.

I am religiously devoted to the idea that he’s thick, and I mean thick. The muscular thighs, round tummy, biceps the size of your head, and an ASS. No plastic surgeon can recreate that ass.

Yes, I know that it is not canonically true. Let me dream.

I like to think that he was usually very insecure about this, his physique. He’d cut very often at the gym but he always somehow gains it all back. It was sorta obvious when you two started dating.

But ever since you two moved in together and you started cooking meals you found yummy on social media, started feeding him like a loving grandmother. Always insisting that he hasn’t eaten enough and adding more onto his plate, to which he happily accepts.

He’s always happy to taste test your little samples or treats. After a while of this going on, he’s more open about his body and looks around you.

(Side track: He loves it when you pack him a lunch, loves it when you put together a meal in a little metal lunchbox and a drink in a matching thermos. Every day he’d show it off to the rest of the KorTac members, proudly displaying his gummy bears and cheez-its in a zip-lock bag.)

You’d try to boost his confidence and make him more comfortable in his own skin by hyping him up. Whenever you link arms with him or hold onto his arm you squeeze his bicep and go “Ohh, looks like I got me a strong man”.

Or when you’re bringing things down from shopping or groceries you’d say: “I need my big, strong, guy for help”

Or just general silly lil compliments or comments.

Some mornings he’d be in the living room with just pajama bottoms, chest galore all out for you to see.

I actually love the idea of him having little love handles or a lil muffin top. Something you should totally expect the first time he does this. Cuddling with König would be nirvana. Big, muscly arms wrapped around your waist and shoulders with his barrel chest smothering your face. You can’t breath but telling him mean that it would end :(

Hugging him would the the absolute-fucking-best. Just the little layer of fat on his body will make him a bit extra squishier, a soft pillow for you to squeeze when your feeling stressed. The endorphins and dopamine just releasing through the ridges of your brain. (that’s the best how i can explain it T-T).

Muscly and thick thighs that you use as a pillow sometimes. I feel like you’d even use it as some sort of table when you two eat in the car.

Going back to that absolute dump truck. It’s to be expected that you always give a light tap or squeeze whenever he walks buy. AND as a pillow :3 Like when he’s laying on his stomach on the bed and he’s on his computer, acting like a lil school girl. You always take the opportunity to use that ungodly thick man as a pillow. Maybe sneak a bite.

König with a round face and chubby cheeks. A daily task to pinch and bite on them, always giving a soft squeeze whenever you pass by.

Also the fact that the au shadowpeach couple are noticeably older? Like?? SWK likely never thought about what he would look like with wrinkles and a few gray hairs, and Mac wasn't sure he'd ever live that long. It gives them a weird sense of excitement and comfort to see their au selves looking older and happy.

HOLY FUCK LUZ DIED????? i was so not expecting that and good lord was it heartbreaking. Eda and King's reaction to Luz's death were also heartbreaking, and so was the Collector finally realizing what death really is. And oh my god puppet!Camila crying as the balls of light pass by her, showing us that she has had the realization that her daughter died. After the grief and trauma of losing Manny, Camila and Luz had a heart to heart which made their bond stronger than ever, only for Camila to lose Luz aswell.

The raeda in this episode was IMMACULATE. I was really hoping for a kiss but i'm still happy with what WAD gave us. The loving stares, Raine's absolute joy when Eda and Titan!Luz came to their rescue in the throne room, the hugs and nuzzles, the cuddling in their new nest, etc. They seem so relaxed and happy at the end. The world has been saved and now they can finally live their lives together and rekindle their relationship. Oh and how could i forget the EARRING SWAP!! they're wearing eachother's earrings!!! I've seen quite a few ppl interpreting the exchanging of earrings/jewelry as a marriage custom in the demon realm, implying that Eda and Raine are married in the timeskip. I never cared much for the idea of raeda getting married but you know what? I like this headcanon.

Out of curiosity, what convinced you to give Adaman a dad bod in his adulthood?

A few things actually. Obviously this is purely my own headcanon, and not one I’m not even 100% married to tbh. As it’s purely speculative I’m open to many possible future interpretations of the character, but it is one I’m particularly fond of

Firstly i feel that it’s important to specify that while I do choose to draw him with a “dad bod” in middle adulthood, it’s one that is also very muscular, similar to that of a strong man or weight lifter (not body builder)

I’ve published a theory on this before, but I believe that there is a lot of evidence to suggest that Adaman has an interest in fighting, or martial arts. A short version leaving out a lot of details; He seems to be an athletic person, his arm wraps appear to resemble those of a boxer or martial artist, and he’s even expressed an interest in learning some ninja techniques. We also know that fighting is a pastime in Hisui, with both clans shown observing a friendly match between Iscan and Gaeric in the full art Adaman and Irida trading cards from the Crown Zenith expansion for the tcg. There’s also signs advertising sumo matches that are visible inside of galaxy Hall, as well as Kamado being a sumo wrestler himself. Fighting seems to be a huge pastime is the Hisui region, and one I believe is likely that Adaman may participate in. It may even be the cause of his trademark eyebrow slit, with similar scars being common among boxers

Adaman also expressed an interest in cooking and learning to cook, leading me to assume that he has an interest in food, and the culinary world. He is even seen serving potato mochi in the festival scene shown towards the very end of the game

With that in mind, my version of Adaman is one who has explored his interest in training and fighting more as he has aged, growing physically stronger as he continued to excel at his sport. He seems like someone who is keen to learn, and with the sumo matches being advertised at Galaxy hall, and after getting a taste of it during his brief confrontation with Kamado as part of the main story, I imagine him jumping at the opportunity to lean a new skill. He is also someone who enjoys his food, and who has pursued his interest in cooking further, even professionally alongside his duty as leader (I headcanon him as opening his own restaurant one day). He is an athlete who is not afraid to nourish his body, and who is confident in both his abilities and his physique.

I also think it contrasts well, yet feels like a very possible outcome, for his canon design. With his design being based on Dialga it also felt right to try making his design more solid to kind reflect that steel influence. I’ve also always headcanoned Adaman as being a really good father one day, so a dad bod seemed a natural fit lol. It just seems like a more adult body type than the one he had as a young adult, so visually really helps to define that he’s in a different stage of his life now. Even though I’ve used the word “dad bod” to describe my older Adaman before, I think it’d actually be more accurate to describe him as having a strongman physique.

So basically, I see him as a happy, healthy guy. One who loves his food, and his sport, and whose body reflects his journey and those passions

(I really feel the need to specify that this version of Adaman is in no way intended to be a joke, or in any way negative portrayal, as is sadly so common in media when a character is shown to have gained any weight for whatever reason)

im sorry but i have to break this up into more than one part bc tumblr only allows 30 images on a post. so i tried my best to get good screenshots of everything and ill tell you a little about my thought process 😁i tried to make all of them good looking bc they were pop sensations so theyre are still gonna be good looking (aged like a fine wine) bc majority of celebs do

so first up, as the oldest, is john dory. i tried to recreate his jacket but there were no vests like that, theres no option for glasses/goggles on the head so theyre on his face. i also tried to do the fingerless gloves but again no option :(

you got the close up of his face with and without goggles. i picture him as kinda scruffy. you cant tell bc of the clothes but hes fit and toned. he has body hair, arms legs and chest. i also gave him a little tattoo. i didnt have many colors to work with for hair so i felt the green fit him the best.

next is bruce. same as john, didnt have many colors to work with for hair but it works. like john he has facial hair and body hair, especially chest hair. i choose a tied back style bc 1 there was no hair as big and beautiful as his hair and 2 he works in food as his hair is supposed to be tied back. i gave him his dad bod but still kind of toned? hes still strong. i went through every outfit and added his wedding ring

onto the middle child, clay. i tried to do the wild hair but none of the styles suited him. i headcanon that clay often ties his hair back when hes working so i choose that style. i didnt see any shirt choices with the pattern he wears but i did kind of incorporate with his pants. clay and floyd both lean towards thinner body types so thats what i did. idk if itll show up once i post this but i wanted clay to still have some of that 'fun boy' charm so i gave him freckles bc whats more boyish than freckles

time for the sensitive one, now bc i didnt think anyone would want to see these, i did use cc for some of them. i remember floyd for sure. i couldnt do one earring like i wanted so he has two. i tried to give him more piercing but they didnt work. i gave him heavy eye makeup and a beauty mark. it just seemed to fit in my opinion. i leaned into soft boy image, the 2000s emos, and the fact that his body was probably not the same after dying. so he looks soft and cozy and comfy.

on to the baby, bitty b, baby branch. i leaned into the greens in his canon outfit. i wanted him be wearing woodsy, hand made, patched up looking clothes. again did my best with the hair. hes got a sturdy build like john but hes slimmer than john. i wish i would have put some kind of scar on his face, that fits him.

for the actual bunker i tried to base it off branch's drawing and what we see in the canon of the movies and show. i was mainly trying to set it up like the drawing. there are on elevators in the sims so i just made a basic room to act as an entry way or foyer with a staircase. i feel like branch would have a bunch of clutter and junk. so when his brothers "moved in" hed have to move stuff around and i imagine that hed have some of their grandmas stuff and some of his brothers old stuff. i also wanted to incorporate the fact that he probably started building this when he was still really young so some design choices were made by a little kid

Homestuck: Beyond Canon Upd8 for 612 2024

This is long overdue, but it's been a bit of a rough week. Most of my activity on Tumblr this week has been from doctor's offices. Nothing really new or important to report there, just lots of doctor stuff.

While long overdue, I've mostly somehow been able to avoid spoilers. The only thing I've been spoiled on is what I kind of new was coming. Oh! And the plush! I know about the plush. Somehow in all the chaos though, my brain kinda didn't connect celebrating 612 with the idea there would be an upd8. Tells you how scatterbrained I've been.

So let's start with that news post.

Oh! James is going to be doing a stream? Cool! I hadn't heard of this. I wonder who with. I'll have to look that up next. James also goes into detail about revenue from the plush. From what I understand, this kind of deal is pretty common for when you supply a design/book/print but someone else does all the production work. Some never go beyond 10% unless you're doing a lot of business.

Looks like we've got apparel coming too! I bought a ton of shirts for 612 from one of the old retailers back in 2015. They are very beat up now. It would be nice to get some new ones.

It doesn't sound like the comic is self sustaining for this size team. I'm pretty sure James wouldn't carry through with his threat to actually put adds in Homestuck, but people deserve to be paid for the work they do.

Finally, this will be the first of two upd8s. Let's see what they have for us!

I think this is the first time we've seen the wings actually poof like that. Before, it was just outfit switches from God Robes to teen duds. We get a little reminder here of the increased age gap, as John has to stretch out the dad bod a bit.

Apparently, Immortals do still have to worry about aging and body degradation. Pretty lousy immortality . . .

Vriska ain't got time for that.

And I'm pretty sure Sollux doesn't have time for it either.

Things still a bit awkward between John and Roxy. Can't expect things to be stable there yet. They may have had their heart to heart, but the war isn't giving them any time to reconnect. John is also trying to bury what he's feeling by just involving himself in another adventure. Hopefully Roxy will keep him from just getting caught up too much in Vriska's orbit. But I'm pretty sure Vriska won't be satisfied until all of the Candy Timeline revolves around her.

Suitably awesome with a frame break and everything.

So there's no chance this doesn't cross some kind of Universal barrier. The question is, what? The hour glass shape has a lot of people speculating that it's a time machine of some kind. But anything that allows you to cross from one Universe to another would inherently have built in time travel, since from your frame of reference one point in time is much the same as any. The question is, can this escape Calliope's black hole? I can't help but feel like that looks like a singularity there too.

Let me try and compile what I know about this thing.

It's called The Plot Point. Since Homestuck has always been about narrative manipulation, a device that directly impacts the narrative isn't just possible but already has precedence. In a story a Plot Point is something that greatly impacts the narrative. In a normal three act structure, plot points can be used to start or end acts, or in the middle of acts to mix things up or increase tension. They can even be used to change how the intended audience sees the story and its characters. There's basically no limit to what this thing might be intended to do and possibly no limit to what it can do.

This is supposedly the reason why everything got so extreme in the Candy Timeline, the reason why John and Vriska both feel this version of the Universe is fake, why a near full cast has congregated here, why Jane went from being a typical rich neo liberal to being an outright fascist, why Dave ended up fully ascending under such hilariously crazy circumstances. Whatever this thing can do, it's supposedly already doing something just sitting there.

3. While obviously this isn't the same device, it shares some traits with the device from Hiveswap. But they're obviously not the same. The previous device looks a little more ramshackle, more steam punk, where as this one looks more streamlined. In Hiveswap's device, the colors on the serpents are clear references to Calliope and Caliborn, who have dominion over the four Universes in Homestuck.

The colors on these serpents are different. They don't even share a color between their spirals. What they remind me of more are God Robes. Specifically, Roxy and Jade's robes. I think these represent . . .

Oh hell! I think a fan theory might have just been proven right!

I think both of these serpent represent Calliope. The Black and White serpent represents Dead Tier Calliope. As Muse of Space, they have black and white for their God Robes. Additionally, they have been influencing the Meat Timeline through Jade's body. While Dirk may be trying to take full control of that narrative, it's technically Calliope's jurisdiction as now both Muse and Lord of the Alpha Timeline.

But why does the other serpent have Roxy's colors? Because our Calliope, our dear, sweet, fanfic writing Calliope, has been creating the stories of the Candy Timeline from Void. Somehow, through their deep connection with Roxy, Calliope has been manifesting their own narrative in the Candy Timeline. It may not even be this Calliope! It might actually be the Calliope in the Meat Timeline who stayed together with Roxy and grew closer to them. That Calliope is the one that was described as writing and drawing stories on their walls!

So what does this thing do? I think it can create any narrative Plot Point you want it to. I think it can steal the Void attribute of any idea, any character, any McGuffin you need it to! Need Gamzee back in the narrative? Bam! Gamzee's back! Want to bring Jane's dad back? Bam! Done! Need another life ring for dead trolls, or just a story that will eventually result in all the Homestuck trolls coming back to life in full? You got it! Want to write a peaceful resolution and dénouement to the war? Easy peasy!

Who the fuck's idea was it to put Vriska in the same room as that thing!

QnA Time

Thanks! But that's mostly thanks to what Nii-sensei already gave us in their character designs. Since I already talked about Shitara's dad bod, heres my thought process for the others:

I knew I wanted to draw Togame as boxy/rectangular (Ales said he was built like a tank and I agree) and his build in canon speaks for itself.

Umemiya's shape is trapezoidal and his arms are built af because that man is a gardener, nothing more to be said.

Takiishi's arms are quite muscular in the manga but his torso's pretty lithe so I mostly referenced male ballerina dancers.

Shizuka has an hourglass shape with some of her ribs showing with her arms being thin as she came from the same place as Gravel so she'd likely be malnourished as a child (her height—151 cm fyi—just adds to that).

I gave Kotoha a tubular shape with some toned arms since shes a cook and does groceries by herself so she's bound to have some meat on her arms (also I fully believe she can knock someone's teeth in).

Drawing Tsubakino with a muscular back that I see in some of the bulkier male ballerinas was a highlight for me, they also have trapezoidal body type that Nii-sensei draws them in.

And then there's Endo, its not clear cuz of the pose but his shape is an inverted triangle.

"Why aren't the abs more prominent?"

To preface, I absolutely love fanart that do more defined muscles and the like (most of my references def had those and also i follow artists who do). But personally, I wanted to go for the relaxed/"usable" abs type of look that athletes or blue-collared workers in rest usually have—so it was me being (somewhat!!) realistic. There was this one post on here that talked about how Roman paintings portrayed the ideal (at the time) nude men with like their rolls & stuff which I absolutely adored and has stuck with me ever since but I don't think I did a good job in conveying that in the studies tho 😔. I'll work on that on my own time.

Trust me, I was going to originally (I have a version without their tops but no render) but then Endo snuck in so I went yeah I'll just give them my bras (wow tmi bra reveal sksks). If you must know, I gave Shizuka an A cup and Kotoha a B-leaning-C cup. I was also planning on making another version for Tsubakino (a transfem with breast aguementation scars vers.) u know?? But I got tired from drawing Endo's tats so blame Endo twice if you wanted both of those things.

"You said something about body hair?"

YES! So the happy trails right? Takiishi doesn't have one because I hc him as not really producing a lot of body hair so no happy trail or armpit hair. Togame too doesn't have armpit hair either because I'd imagine he shaves if he's a frequent onsen goer. Also Japanese men don't usually produce a lot of body hair, genetics u know but when they do they look *chef's kisses*. I'm (respectfully) thinking of you TsudaKen 🫶🫵

The others definitely do have, but I'd like to think Ume had his waxed by Tsubaki (aka one of the darlings who helped give us his iconic hairdo) one time and they just kept going u know? (Read: Hiragi was probs laughing in the bkgd while Ume was in pain the first time). I kept his happy trail for his fans tho <3.

Silly Thoughts:

The torso studies was super fun to experiment with some canon characteristics and just go crazy with my headcanons!! Not as crazy as I wanted but oh well,,

While making that reaction vid of how drawing endo was like, Ales said that putting togame after endo made the latter look like a twink and I couldn't stop wheezing for a good hour 😭.

Next art study will probably be on dynamic poses so lots of action poses which will definitely be fun since me and dynamic posing hang out on the weekends, but i'll do that when break comes around and maybe after Furin Trio week 🤔🤔.

Is he comic relief? Yes.

Would I be his friend? Yes.

Has he done nothing wrong? Yes!! No he’s done many things wrong he’s so precious to me ok but the law he’s broken the law I love him so much he literally betrayed his friends I will always love him he has sooo much to answer for I’m glad Sophie forgives him after she chews him out she should chew him out longer but I suppose Fitz does that for her He has so many apologies to make but like he’s also done nothing wrong look I’m aware of my blorbo’s mistakes he’s honestly not as problematic as the tumblr fandom makes him out to be sometimes, and I MEAN that, but he’s also not as perfect and sweet as the eleven year olds on Wattpad make him out to be. He’s a LOT okay, you can’t analyze Keefe Sencen without the everything

Are my opinions unpopular? Yep! The other keefe girlies hate my opinions bc I acknowledge his character flaws and the Keefe haters hate my opinions bc I acknowledge the fact that he’s NOT an antagonist and actually has a lot of really good traits, and that’s NOT me making excuses. Also what are y’all on about saying he doesn’t get held accountable for his actions, like yeah Sophie forgives him pretty fast but not until she’s yelled at him, and the rest of his friends do NOT bounce back to normal (Fitz)

Do I relate to him? Yes, unfortunately. I have Fitz’s trauma and Keefe’s coping mechanisms (they aren’t good coping mechanisms but they’re literally mine)

Is the fandom wrong about him? Yes, the Keefe fans and Keefe haters alike. Don’t flatten this guy there’s SO MUCH THERE. (I’m not talking about my Keefe-negative mutuals—if I follow you, you didn’t flatten his character, I am very serious about Keefe Sencen)

Do I want to adopt him? YES I mean I’m literally his age but if I was old enough to adopt him I totally would, get that kid away from Cassius Sencen and kill Gisela Sencen. Honestly tho I’d settle for an Elwin adoption, dad!Elwin rocks

Did he need less screen time? *sighs in resigned Keefe fan* probably…objectively…yes…

Did canon do him dirty? I debated filling in this one. Because Shannon has made him a SUPER complex character. But also I swear if the ending of stellarlune isn’t the last time he steals something from Sophie to carry out a reckless plan he told no one about, I’ll riot. Don’t give him forward character progress and then erase it! If it’s a momentary relapse of bad habits I’ll allow it but I’m starting to want Shannon to let Keefe grow from all of that. Cause she keeps letting him get better—and then slip back. (Which isn’t unrealistic and I can work with!! I love him! But SHANNON PLEASE)

Do I want to study him? I want to get a full on PhD in this guy’s character arc actually

Did he need more screen time? Heh. Uh. Objectively NO. But also this amount of page time has allowed us to learn so much about his character complexities?? Like I’m torn between missing the other characters and eating up his character arc. Currently I’m gonna hope book 10 expands the other characters more bc I need more of them and 9.5 can feed my Keefe brain

Would I hit him with a golf cart? Listen my friend made this bingo game (hi Bods, if you’re reading this) and I know exactly what the actual intention was behind this square. But like. I want to slightly run into him with a golf cart. It's really fun to play in Stephen King's sandbox, always, and to unravel some of this novel's threads, but I keep writing Randall Flagg using magic to fuck with people. If I'm being really declarative and bold, I'd say I put all the gross sex stuff in here to remix and re-examine the highly gendered sexual horror around Flagg's cold cold snaky dick, but I also was just not really there for the cold dick at the time. Maybe I will be in the future.

Cold-weather cannibal domesticity with a really narsty bit of flesh-consumption and playing with the canonical healing factor that comes with the film's depiction of cannibalism as almost a form of vampirism. 

oh but jesus was a crossmaker - Cape Fear (1991), Max Cady/Danielle Bowden

This film is exactly the kind of profoundly flawed specimen that gets my brain's wheels turning, and I had a wonderful time writing for it and exploring one of the elements that's the most odd and engaging, namely the deeply fucked villain/heroine dynamic between the wildly sleazy, undeniably dangerous antagonist (by far the most memorable aspect of the film) and the troubled teenage daughter of the nominal MC who hankers to act out but gets way more than she bargained for. I love love love a disgusting crime road trip and I had a lot of fun writing this one.

I actually didn't know about the menstration = blessing horses lore! That makes a lot of sense why Wukong would get mad at Heaven for giving him such a role. I can imagine him learning of this superstition from another stablehand, and just quiting on the spot. Especially when he learns that "female" roles and jobs aren't valued as much as "male" roles in the Jade Court (based on imperial china).

Then after letting him back in; they gave him the same job as a"Peach Maiden" - just with the title scratched out like he wouldn't have noticed. -_-

Primates like monkeys go through menstration like humans; meaning that Wukong likely has a great deal of knowledge of how to treat the symptoms just by growing up around so many adoptive mothers and sisters. I feel in his time at the palace, he made many female friends just by being attentive to them when they were due.

And since many wild monkey species (especially macaques like Wukong is supposed to be) are matriarchal; it confuses Wukong even more that women in the Celestial Realm aren't given the same level of respect as men. He probably has insulted the Emperor by asking to speak with the Queen Mother before him; "Let me speak with your Woman King. What do you mean "women don't rule"? She's clearly the one in charge. What sort of troop is this?"

So when the pilgrims openly accept Wukong as male, he's so happy he could explode. It also gives him more confidence to explore how he expresses his gender indentity through transformation.

While macaques dont have as obvious dimorphic traits as humans, I feel like Wukong's chest is more obvious than Macaque's is. He's not ashamed of his chest at all, even if it has grown along with his "dad bod" + pregnancy. Monkey Yao simply do not have the same hang-ups about breasts or menstration than most humans/celestials. Macaque is more shy about his chest cus he raised closer to humans and celestials norms also it's for Wukong's eyes only.

An interesting piece of lore! One of The Monkey King's permanent injuries was a stab in his breastbone/collarbone during his capture by Erlang Shen:

From this lore, I hc that Wukong is actually missing a breast, or one has been heavily scarred over. I feel like he jokes that Erlang "owes him a new boob" in good humor. Or jokes that he "bets his last titty" on something.

- mr grizz and medved are separate people believe it or not, mr grizz is the dude that runs Grizzco while Medved is mr Grizz outside of Grizzco, two different people in personality and mood.

- has a burning hatred for honey and if you give him it will pretend to like it (will throw up back home, my man going thru it the honey reminds him of his dead species < 3)

- pretty smart because he wants to be, people think it's "oh cause he's autistic" but he just was intrigued in the inkling languages and got strung up in so much more, he's very intelligent whenever it comes to salmonid life and machinery

- Grizzco weapons are made with higher quality now. higher than Sheldon's quality even, medved got a licence to make em, so he uses higher materials
