seeking an artist’s advice!

i’m very new to watercolor and i’m nervous about doing faces 🥺 do you think i should? this is already pretty small to begin with.

i’m gonna add more yellow and blue around the boys, and if i don’t do the faces i’ll still fill them with some shading.

this is my first time ever painting people with watercolor and i’m shocked it has even come out this okay so far tbh

(i’ll also gladly accept any other watercolor advice! i know it’s very loose and free-flowing so i’m not expecting perfection!)

I'm supposed to wait for my poll to be over but I'm impatient.

If I was selling art what would you pay for:

1. High effort full renders

2. Flat color

3. Just a sketch

[I can't ID all of these. I'm sorry. I don't have the brain power to do it.]

The sketch isn't in my usual style but it does show what they usually look like in terms of construction and color. I can also do style variations with brushes and coloring methods, glitch effects which can be seen in some, and a lot of other stuff when I actually open commissions. But for any of these, what would you be willing to pay that wouldn't feel like you're getting ripped off or like you're robbing an artist?

Finished commissions will also look better because these are protected by Glaze. I don't normally disclose this because I want AI scrapers to fuck up their models but so potential buyers know that their commissions won't be noised over like this unless they want a glazed version (which would be free, only additional fee is a wait time), I'm disclosing it.

I'm horrible with pricing and I would really like some help figuring this out. Thank you!

I just want to mention real quick that I love your fic sage advice so much. I look forward to it so much, and when the previous chapter was published I was checking ao3 sometimes 2-3 times a day to see if it updated. Hey, awkward question

so uh

I'm white and I've rarely ever made OCs that are human at all in the past. The closest things have been vampires and mermaids and centaurs and the like. (Mostly animal or monster characters).

Recently I've started to make a few more human ones (for Camp Half-blood in the Riordan Universe, not that that's relevant lol) but I was wondering if there was anything I should know about making black characters and other characters of color?

This comes up bc I want to try to draw them and I was wondering if there's anything I shouldn't do while designing/drawing one of them who's black. Or any future non white characters I have.

i’m trying to focus on letting this one be a bit more of a Sketch book, i always find myself trying to create perfect masterpieces instead of using a sketch book for its intended purpose! sketching! i also invested in some colerase pencil which i think is helping me to allow my art to feel more free and relaxed.

also decided to push my boundaries in the “title” page and use some alcohol markers, which in theory i love but i’ve never been able to execute to a standard that i’m happy with but with some trial and error and layering on pencil i think i’m happy with the result of it, all in the name of practice!

just to ponder, anyone got any advice on how to capture likeness? i find myself avoiding characters or people (that aren’t masked vigilantes oops) because i can’t quite capture the essence of them so please if you have any tips! i appreciate any tips in general to be honest, being self taught is a fight
