2017 BJYX Timeline : At First Sight.

Everything starts with a blank canvass. Oh we painted each others lives inch by inch. from black, gray and blue to colors we never thought existed. Two photos from different places, longing to be one. 

Let’s start from the beginning of this whirlwind timeline. There will be very minimal interaction between our boys, but this will also be a good time to see how they were before working together. I wanted to paint a picture of  XNINE’s Xiao Zhan and Idol Wang Yibo. Before their names got tied to the Untamed and each other.

They were doing their own thing, working hard with their careers, no clue that one chance meeting will be so important. Warning, this post is video links, image and information heavy. I am missing some stuff because this hell site refuses to save things and continues to glitch.

🡆 MARCH 2017

03242017 : The story starts when XNINE was a guest in Day Day Up. When asked, they always say that this is the first time they met. However, they did not interact at all.

But there are definitely times on this episode where they pay attention to each other and it’s so cute. You can find different videos that will highlight these moments better than any screencaps can.

04022017 : XNINE shanghai concert - BE A MAN.  blessing us with this dance from GG. The next one is the one that the Untamed Cast were watching. He also posted a selfie for this night.

04082017 : The Wolf starts filming. According to GG, this is the drama that made him decide to really be an actor.

04092017 : Web attends the 17th Top Chinese Music Awards and wins Best New Idol. This also blessed us with the blindfold dance.

*** Note 01 : In 2017, XNINE was transferred from EE media to Long Danni’s Wajijiwa Ent. Company. Some initial problems that they had was that their company was more interested in promoting them as actors and not as an idol group. They were also not kept safe in public venues which will be a recurring issue to GG as we go along other timelines.

*** Note 02 : I wanted to add Web’s Rossi posts and more pictures but it won’t save (will try again at a later date, but I think Web’s awards and projects are more important to highlight here). LOL. Thankfully, GG’s selfies worked. I mainly added stuff that they did in 2017 to give a sense of where they were career-wise. 

*** Note 03 : Looking at how this timeline turned into a monster, I will probably split the 2018 timeline into two parts. Forever Summer Part I & Forever Summer Part 2. Seeing the amount of Activity these two did in 2018 alone is STAGGERING. Plus, this site is glitching with all the content when I save it so splitting it might be better. if you have suggestions, let me know.

when the façade breaks

There was an unpleasant noise coming from the restroom, David smiling apologetically as he directs approaching women to use a different restroom. Minseo’s gags subsided and they were followed by a soft whimper of distress, taking this queue to come in. He meets her with tears in her eyes while she uses the cold tap to wash her mouth and linger her hands under the running waters afterward. Trembling hands proceeds to press them on her forehead and cheeks, taking a deep breath and finally facing him properly. He hands her a mint and a handkerchief, which she takes dutifully. The brief and quiet exchange soon makes a noise as he takes out a cigarette to light.

“Is Wenhan here yet?” She asks, agitated tone in her voice.

“The entire Li entourage isn’t even here yet.” He announces, cigarette for her reach. Minseo hesitated at first but gave in, taking a few heavy breaths with it. “I can take him to you when he arrives.”

“Of course they’re not— he said he wasn’t gonna be late—” She hands the cigarette back that was quickly lit out under the running water. She turns off the faucet while looking at her reflection. “I look okay?”

“No.”

“Okay.” She smiles, it was believable. “Now?”

“Yes.” David answers nonchalantly before looking off to listen to his ear piece. “Just hold off a little longer. They’re waiting.”

It was her first official public event as Choi Mangement’s head figure. It was also her first day as the Choi family’s new head for the underground operations. It was being celebrated for tonight, along with numerous important affiliates both in public and private affairs. One can’t tell who’ who in other’s eyes aside from hers, because of everyone’s façade. She was a nervous wreck considering her new role was to fill in what her father had built. Minseo was the new target for multiple threats, she’s aware people are talking behind her back.

“I don’t understand why we have to do this.” She talks to herself, walking out to the ballroom hall before gripping the door handles. “Right, for show. For show Minseo, just like back then.”

She opens the doors with great confidence and put aside her emotional self— her presence was quickly noticed by those near her and soon enough, the entire ballroom stands by their seat to give her applause. A few bow to her presence which she returns respectfully. There was no need for introductions as her name is already known among the few. She grabs a champagne glass from a waiter before walking to the center of the floor, and all eyes on the former heiress.

“It’s a great thing to see familiar faces in this room,” she starts, with a poise of confidence in her voice. “But it’s also great to see new faces who I know will build the Choi legacy once more with us. My father had always put great importance in creating valuable friendships in and out of the business, and I hope that each of you get to know one another aside from the most important person in the room, me—“ she jokes, and there was laughter to bring in the room. She looks around with a smile on her face. “I’d like to thank all of you for being here, to witness my new endeavors as it’s new CEO and I hope you can look at me as a good leader as much as those who came before me. I’m honored to call you all as my favored connections, now and in the future.” Her hand raises with the glass, where everyone does the toast to her with joy. “Thank you— please, let’s enjoy tonight!”

Champagne was downed quickly as she prepares herself to mingle, the room wanting her attention for multiple topics. Minseo was great in handling people but it got overwhelming. Fortunately, her friends were there to accompany her away from the business deals. Minseo’s presence wasn’t left alone though, as all her guards followed and watched along.

Touched left and right, with soft kisses of cheek to cheek while she accepts the compliments of whatever they saw of her. There was a signal she left to her guards to know if she wants to be taken away from the crowd, and it was when she tucks her hair behind her ear. David takes note after she does so, excusing himself as a barrier and lies that she was needed else where.

“This is usually the part where you take Jinwoo to me as well,” she reminisces the routine. “Thank you, for being here.”

“I’m just wondering why you didn’t call your new guard.” He questions, following her footsteps out to the corridor. “What’s his name—?”

“Matteo,” she answers while leaning to an awning that kept her away from the sight of others. He follows suit, sitting by her side. “It’s already selfish of me to keep him away from his wife. They’re expecting a child soon, you know.”

“So you summoned me?”

“God knows, you’re the favorite.”

She snickers, but he only smiles half-heartedly. David did his best to distract her for the moment before she needed to be out again.

“I thought I’d be happier.” Her eyes were sad. “Having everything I want. Yet… it’s never enough. I’m just wondering at this point what I need. Why am I not content? Why do I envy everything and everyone around me? I don’t think I’m worth anything but this.. this thing... that we do.”

David only listens, partly because he noticed an oddly slow reaction time within herself, but also because he knew to an extent how much Minseo wanted things to change. He’d seen most of her downfalls and emptying her heart on the process was one of them.

“I’ve grown incredibly violent these past few months. Not by choice, of course. Even the money I have can’t buy everything.” She jokes, but so much was hidden with that. “I feel as though that’s the very thing that makes me … still. What’s keeping me away from thinking of other things. One of the hardest things I’ve ever done was making a decision to let go or not. If I would’ve known what would happen then— I would’ve left a long, long time ago. Jinwoo would still be alive today, probably. I think about that all the time.”

“But you’re already here. There’s nothing more you could do.” they lock eyes with sincerity. “I know this is what you don’t want to hear, but the emptiness will pass, you’ll figure it out, like you always do.”

Her lips form a gentle smile but she’s heard those same words before.

“You should celebrate the little wins too,” he mentions, looking at the direction of the door as his attention was still on her safety. “It doesn’t hurt to celebrate about the superficial things. After all, it’s your life. That’s just how it is.” He stands, looking at his watch and before facing the end of the hall. “How many did you take?”

“One little block. A tiny square of one block.” She confessed almost immediately, sighing in disappointment to herself. “I think..?”

“No more drinking for the rest of the night, understood?”

Her eyes give a blurred vision the moment she stood up, an arm of a business partner holds her up as she heard laughter. They laughed because of a joke. 

“I’ve really drank too much, huh?” she laughs along with them, why the gaze of others were hard on her. “Excuse me.” 

Her footsteps were hurried but it had done its work. She felt a bit lightheaded all these people just didn’t do any good for her. Minseo felt as if the entire room had called an entire mockery of her. That wasn’t the case as they even praised her presence and some even have the impersonation that they liked her just to get a piece of what she had. A pit in her stomach started to form and she needed a way out, quick. The anxiety being around a pool of strangers started to crack her image and she needed to repair it soon before they notice. 

She hurriedly walks to a secluded restroom far from that room, with David tailing along. She had made sure that it was empty before she finally let out a forceful expulsion of the contents in her stomach. It felt disgusting and good at the same time. And then more. It was as if she could breathe again. The flushing noises conclude the episode, but her feeble sounds escape. The image was repaired, so now its time to hold it up again. The door was opened with his shoes seen, and she reminds herself little mantras to get her through the night.
