Yair Klein’s Gifted Student

From December 1987 to May 1988, Klein, a retired Israel Defense Forces (IDF) lieutenant colonel, trained fifty men at a “school for assassins” in the Magdalena Medio, just three hours away from Medellín. Operating with an official Israeli government license, Klein trained his students to carry out drive-bys in cars, assassinations by bombs and sniper fire, and door-to-door attacks on entire towns. Klein has since alleged that the CIA recruited him to train the Colombians and that he met with the now dissolved Colombian intelligence agency, the Department of Administrative Security (DAS), upon arriving in the country. “The Americans have the problem of public opinion, international image. We don’t have this problem,” one Israeli working for Klein’s Spearhead mercenary corporation said of the operation.

Five months later, Klein’s trainees Fidel and Carlos Castaño, Alonso de Jesús Baquero, and thirty other men carried out a massacre in the mining town of Segovia. There, Rita Ivon Tobón Areiza, a young woman from UP, had won the 1988 mayoral race by an overwhelming margin. Working with the US-backed Colombian Armed Forces, Jesús Baquero, one of the Castaño’s paramilitary chiefs, headed the massacre. His targets were suspected supporters of the UP.

On November 11, the day of the massacre, the military removed its checkpoints ordinarily positioned at the town’s entrance. According to an Amnesty International report, “regular garrisons of the police and military stood by while the killers moved freely through the town for over an hour.” Jesús Baquero’s forces, armed with a list of targets, carried out door-to-door killings of suspected UP supporters and an assault on the town square, killing forty-three people and wounding more than fifty others. “Yair Klein always considered me a gifted student,” Jesús Baquero would later recall.An Israeli firm sent three thousand assault rifles and 2.5 million rounds of ammunition to the AUC — arms they used to massacre leftists and displace thousands.

The Castaños would eventually form the United Self-Defense Forces (AUC) paramilitary. In 2001, Human Rights Watch determined the AUC was effectively a division of the Colombian military and, according to author John Lindsay-Poland, “the worst violator” in a conflict that claimed 262,197 lives in six decades. In 2002, GIRSA, an Israeli firm in Guatemala tied to the IDF, sent three thousand assault rifles and 2.5 million rounds of ammunition to the AUC — arms they used to massacre leftists and displace thousands.

As if nothing was here. Is and isn't. This sound situation invites us to listen to the voices of the environment that we tend to neglect. Only quiet sounds rise above the surface, the intensity is hidden below the surface - to listen more carefully, you need to immerse your ears, head or whole body.

It is difficult to face anxiety and skepticism today. We are actors of the climate collapse, whose consequences seem to be more threatening; we live in polarized societies, in which it is more difficult to find agreement on the basic conditions for coexistence. The tools designed for bringing people together start to fight back, so we feel lonely, isolated, and excluded. It is a paradox that we are getting better at realizing the complexity of the systems and processes we are part of.

They touch upon the established categories of reality, which requires rephrasing the roles we play. The exhibition Everything’s Everybody’s aims to take a stand based on the awareness of the interconnectedness of seemingly separated sets. Art that overcomes isolation contains elements of idealism as well as possibilities rather than impossibility. Art that overcomes futility, but does not deny the anxiety, uncertainty, and fears.

En Guanajuato se eleva la competitividad profesional y laboral de las empresas

Juan José Álvarez Brunel, secretario de Turismo, invita a los organismos a seguir trabajando en conjunto con Gobierno del estado para continuar siendo la “Grandeza de México”.

ICE México busca elevar la competitividad del estado y mejorar los planes educativos de la región.

El turismo de Guanajuato es uno de los 4 pilares más importantes en el desarrollo económico de la entidad; por ello, “la apuesta a seguir elevando la competitividad laboral y profesional de los prestadores de servicios”, dijo Juan José Álvarez Brunel, secretario de Turismo del estado de Guanajuato.

Durante la ceremonia inaugural de las oficinas del Instituto de Certificación Empresarial (ICE) de México ICE, en el 4to. y 5to. piso de la Torre Girsa del municipio de Celaya, el maestro Álvarez Brunel felicitó y aplaudió a su fundador y director Cristian Gabriel Ríos por construir una visión moderna y pertinente basada en las necesidades de adiestramiento, capacitación y desarrollo en el capital humano.

“Este logro es gracias al trabajo colaborativo entre empresariado y Gobierno. No podemos pensar que el empresariado debe trabajar solo, el gobierno solo y las organizaciones solos, lo tenemos que hacer en conjunto y reunir talentos para seguir siendo la Grandeza de México”, señaló el secretario de Turismo.

El Instituto de Certificación Empresarial (ICE) de México en Celaya se fundó el año 2014 por la necesidad de desarrollar un sistema educativo nacional especializado en la formación de competencia laborales y profesionales. Hoy el Instituto ha acreditado a más de 560 empresas a lo largo y ancho de la República Mexicana.

“Cuando se encuentra en los destinos este dinamismo, este trabajo conjunto entre Gobierno, Municipio y Empresarios, son buenos augurios; y hoy están traducidos en esta inauguración”, enfatizó Álvarez Bunel.

Durante los años 2015 y 2017, ICE fue galardonado con mayor emisión de certificado en el país de red de prestadores de servicios; en el año 2019, el Sistema Nacional de Competencia y la Secretaría de Educación Pública, invitaron a instituto a elevar su figura otorgando la acreditación como Organismo Certificador dándoles la facultad de adherir, acreditar y desarrollar a nuevas empresas para la certificación de competencias laborales en más de 50 sectores productivos del país.

Además de contar con el apoyo de la Secretaría de turismo, ICE ha colaborado con Secretaría de Desarrollo Económico Sustentable y con la Universidad Virtual (UVEG) para lograr esfuerzos históricos en crear un ambiente sistémico por competencias buscando elevar la competitividad del estado y mejorar los planes educativos de la región.

Asimismo, ICE México colabora con instituciones de talla internacional como ACT, Microsoft, UNESCO y Centros de Investigación para el Desarrollo Educativo, además de contar con su propia División de Investigación Educativo; además son consultores de decenas de empresas para la implementación de sistemas de gestión de calidad formativo organizacional, convirtiéndolos en el organismo con la red más grande y mayor cobertura de México.
