If the writers pace themselves like they do on Jane the Virgin, and dial back on the campyness, then the show can be a hit and go on to have 5 or 8 (good) seasons.

It’s so disjointed right now, but pilots have a reputation of being bad but the good news is we might have anywhere from ten to thirteen episodes to find our rhythm.

CONS

Drawing out Macy’s revelation about Marisol and her arrival ‘til episode 2 or 3 definitively would’ve fit better than to have her show up in the middle of the night like she did and have the lights go out before cranking the drama up to ten, causing her to leave three seconds later. That felt clunky too me.

The acting left something to be desired, it’s too first time actor landing their first job ever. Maybe it was the nerves working on something with so much history.

The girls had a tenacity to sped through their reactions when their powers started showing themselves.

That punch isn’t how I want empowerment, much prefer letting Cam remember.

Special effects with the dog and Harry’s orbing (the board did say not to trust him, maybe the lack of blue light and white orbs is a sign) could’ve been better.

Not sure how long they’re gonna use science to kill demons, that has the potential to get old quick.

PROS

Tying in world issues like the #MeToo movement is exactly what I need right now.

I did like the effects with the fog, crows, the Professor, the girls’ powers and Brian.

Really enjoyed the way the girls’ powers manifested throughout the episode.

Macy being a STEM major, #girlslovescience!

Mel’s a damn good liar and that is gonna be useful.

That fog and the showdown in the classroom is what I’m gonna need more of.
