FEMALE COMMANDER AS AN OPTION IN GFL2 GOT CONFIRMED IN CBT3!

In GFL, even though we had Commander customisation, it never had any effect on the story. Hell, even in Neural Cloud that's the same case (which is really odd, considering the gender choice was there from the beginning of the game and not added in post like in GFL1.) For me it felt like trying to read the story while interpreting the Commander as a woman was almost... headcanonish?

Like, there's just the little things. Translation mistakes using "he" instead of "they" to refer to the Commander on a few occasions, the GFL community on other sites most commonly portraying the Commander as male (from my experience, anyway) and the general treatment the Commander receives from other characters being more in line with one a male character would receive. It honestly felt kinda iffy to me, and like a subtle constant reminder the game and community were telling me: "You're not the target demographic of this game."

It sucked. But now in GFL2, that factor has potentially... sort of gone out the window? Your choice of Commander seems to be visually represented in cutscenes and the like from what I've seen so far from people playing CBT3, as well as being voice acted. This was my biggest hope for GFL2, and I'm just so, SO happy to see it come true.

GFL2 is officially launching in CN, with the pre-registration campaign now live on Bilibili. I'm so excited. Mica Team's AAA trpg is about to hit the world and put the gfl franchise on the map. I'm just so excited, y'all. I've waited years for this day.

HUGE RAMBLING ALERT

Ridiculously impressed by how much GFL2 has been polished since it was first revealed years ago with its old weird plastic-y look after I watched the new preview. As someone who has been playing GFL1 on-and-off since around the game launched its English servers in 2018, it really is special to see how far Mica team has come.

Though GFL2 might fully launch their CN servers this year, it's likely we won't be getting the English servers for at LEAST another year.

Although, at the very least there's the release of Reverse Collapse likely to arrive some time ahead of GFL2 to look forward to! The demo's GFL fanservice was incredibly potent in the best ways possible whilst not taking away from the game's own identity.

Oh, and Longitudinal Strand is finally coming to GFL1 EN this month... makes me wonder if we're going to see the GFL1 story end with a final major story event right before GFL2 releases, or if it will be a little afterwards. I'm assuming the former, personally.

I guess there's a good amount of GFL content to hold me over until GFL2 comes out, and that's not even mentioning Neural Cloud.

...GFL is the weirdest hyperfixation for me, geez. I can go months without even thinking about it, then boom, something happens and the hyperfixation reawakens like a sleeper agent. Writing this kinda substanceless post has helped me direct it somewhere though, somewhere that isn't inflicting my fangirling over this franchise on my friends who don't even know what a T-Doll is, but listen anyway to be polite.

Maybe I'll write more rambling thoughts like this in the future, maybe even with purpose and substance to them. Maybe some thoughts on Longitudinal Strand after I read the story, we'll see.

I just hope RO and Sopmod are okay after what happened in Fixed Point... ;;
