rolan playing a tiefling paladin is so fun. it's so fun and not insanity inducing for him to have been playing something considered a monster. it's so fun that he probably made that character before he was even... bugified. (gestures vaguely tieflings and their inherent queerness). it's so fun that his entire story feels like some sick cosmic joke it's so fun that he was doomed from the start. it's so fun how desperately the hive wanted him back. because they didn't need to call him and tell him that his parents were dead. he'd been gone for ten years. they could've just said he never showed, who would've argued? but they wanted him back. they wanted the start of it all there when it ended. rolan deep is such a fun character it's soooo silly how he repeatedly chose humanity and love over and over and over again. how he pushed everything in him aside. every instinct every pull. just to protect rand. how he fought one of his own (and also the body of his other best friend!!!) just to make sure rand had a chance at being safe. sacrificing the one thing he was so obviously terrified of losing (his humanity) just for a chance at saving rand in the end. good luck out there rand. just for it to be for nothing. for him to die too. die in the one place he never wanted to go back to. I love tragedies I love doomed narratives I love how normal rolan deep makes me feel (<— visibly shaking like a wet dog)
