Aemond x Wife Reader

Summary: Aemond spends time with your child so that you can have a much-needed break.

A/N: I'm back with more, Dad!Aemond, because I adore him so much. Aemond deserves someone who will love him as deeply and unconditionally as he loves them, and his baby definitely would. (Also, any dialogue in italics means the characters are speaking in high valyrian. I was too lazy to attempt to translate it.) No beta, so I apologize for any grammar and spelling mistakes.

“Daenys, please calm down,” you plead as you try to pacify the wailing girl.

Though your words seem to fall on deaf ears, she continues to scream and flail in your arms. You want nothing more than to join in as tears well in your eyes. You were at your wit's end. Nothing seemed to placate your child. Not even the sweets you had tried to bribe her with. 

The nursemaids had changed her nappy several times. They’ve tried feeding, bathing, offering toys, and even taking her for a walk in the gardens. Yet none of it worked. They brought her to you as a last resort, hoping she might be missing her mother. Unfortunately, their hopes went unfounded.

Daenys continued to thrash in your arms, and you struggled to keep a grip on her. She was surprisingly strong for someone so small. 

“Shh, it’s alright,” you coo, bouncing the fussy girl in your arms. “Are you tired? Shall we take a nap?”

Your questions only incite her fury. Daenys lets out an ear-splitting screech. You groaned, eyes closing in frustration at the situation. 

“How about we give your mother a break, hmm?”

You look up, finding your husband now standing before you. He takes your little girl into his arms, and for the first time in forever, she settles down. She doesn’t squirm and try to get away from him, and her wails turn into low whimpers and quiet hiccups. You watch as he handles her with such ease. Aemond pats her back and talks to her in a soothing voice, gently bouncing her in his arms. Daenys rested her head on his shoulder, her tiny fists held tightly onto his coat.

“I’m terrible at this,” you huffed, shame blooming in your chest. 

“No, you’re not.” Aemond leaned down, pressing a gentle, reassuring kiss to your head. “I’ll take her for a bit. Get some rest.”

You nod, grateful for his help. He waves Daenys’ hand towards you as they leave. You wave back until the pair disappear from your view. You sigh in relief as your body slumps onto the Grecian couch beneath you. You debate whether to continue with your book or take a quick nap.

Aemond holds Daenys close to his chest as he maneuvers himself off his saddle. Ser Rickard Thorne stands to the side, wearing his freshly polished armor and pristine white cloak. Aemond nods at him, and the white knight quickly takes Aemond’s horse by the reins, leading the horse away.

The dragon lord looked down, watching Daenys as she toyed with the wooden dragon in her hands. He smiled. The familiar warm fuzzy feeling that filled his entire body every time he laid his eyes on her returned. It was hard to believe that something so beautiful and innocent could come from him. But here she was. The two of you had created something- someone so precious. 

A loud grumble sounded in the air. Aemond lifted his head, observing Vhagar. The giant dragon was hard to miss, even from a great distance.

The overgrown grass and twigs squish and cackle beneath his boots as he walked into the open field where the ancient she-dragon resided. Vhagar had outgrown the dragonpit years before he had even claimed her. Vhagar turned her giant head to the side, watching them as they approached. She shut her eyes again when she realized it was just him.

Daenys let out a delighted squeal when her eyes finally landed on the giant dragon. Aemond struggled to hold her as she excitedly kicked her legs and waved her arms. Aemound cursed under his breath as the wooden dragon toy fell to the ground. Oh well, he would retrieve it later.

“What is it, my little dragon?” He asked enthusiastically. “What do you see?”

 Daenys clapped her little hands and babbled, “Vava!”

“Vhagar? Do you see Vhagar?”

She looks up to him and nods her head. Her violet eyes lock onto his, and the two smile at each other. Aemond planted a kiss on the girl’s temple, gaining sweet, girlish giggles in response.

“Very good, my little dragon. It is Vhagar.”

Daenys begins to squirm in his arms and tries to push him away.

“What is it? Do you want down?”

Aemond looks down at the grass, checking for any potential dangers. Your little girl grunts and continues to try to push him away.

Aemond huffs, “Alright, alright.”

His lips curve downward into a slight frown. The two of you had been very proud and excited when Daenys started walking. However, Aemond was a little saddened by the fact that his sweet little girl didn’t want to be in his arms all the time anymore.

His mother had told him that it’s normal for them to want to be more independent when they start walking. The man understood that, but he still did not like it one bit.

Aemond carefully lowers the little girl to her feet. Her chubby little fingers hold onto his hands as she tries to stabilize herself. When she finally stops wobbling, she lets go. Aemond’s heart races in his chest as he watches her take a small, shaky step forward. His hands immediately reach out to grab her, but he stops himself.

Daenys takes another step; this time, she’s a bit more stable. She holds her arms out, trying to balance her weight as she trots forward. Aemond follows closely behind. With each step, he felt a twinge of panic in his chest. The man struggled not to swoop her into his arms every time she stumbled.

Thankfully, they made it to Vhagar rather quickly. Vhagar gave a small huff as Daenys small hands smacked against her snout. 

“Gentle,” Aemond warned sternly, well aware of his dragon's short temper. 

The man kneeled next to her. He took one of Daenys little hands into his own, showing her how to pet Vhagar’s snout carefully. Daenys let out another excited squeal that made Aemond wince. 

“Yes,” he nodded. “It’s very exciting, but we must be quiet.”

Daenys pulled her hand away from his, wanting to try it alone. Vhagar remained still, resting lazily on her chin. Aemond stood back up. He rested his large palm against her warm green scales with a joyous smile. She truly is a sight to behold.

Vhagar was the largest and fiercest dragon in the world. Nothing could stand against her. And yet she decided that he, of all people, was worthy of her. That he deserved the privilege to call himself her rider. No one could question or deny his worth now.

“Vava, pay?”

Aemond looked down, watching as his little girl tried to get the dragon’s attention. Her silver curls fell onto her face. The man reached down, pushing the strands of hair behind her ears. He felt a bit sorry for her. Vhagar was nowhere near as active as Daenys' little hatchling, who resided in the dragon pit. She did not flap her wings or let out any shrieks of excitement like Daenys’ hatchling did when they saw each other.

Daenys tugged on his coat. She turned her head up to look at him. Her brows were drawn together, and her bottom lip protruded further than her top lip. The look on her face tugged at his heartstrings.

“Play? No, Vhagar does not want to play.”

Your little girl does not seem to accept his answer. She turns her attention back to the dragon, gently petting her scales a few more times. Daenys tries calling out to her again, but Vhagar still gives no response. Perhaps this wasn’t such a good idea. Aemond initially planned to take her to the dragon pit, but he decided against it. Mostly because he wanted to come out and visit Vhagar. He could seldom go a day without coming to see his winged companion. 

Suddenly, a loud grumble echoed in Vhagar’s throat. The dragon, finally having enough of the child’s affection, raised her head. Daenys, who was balancing herself on Vhagar’s head, fell back, landing on her bottom with a loud oomph.

“Lykirī, Vhagar. Lykirī,” Aemond commanded as he swiftly took Daenys into his arms.

Vhagar did not move, nor did she make a sound. The ancient dragon merely eyed the two of them. When Aemond felt confident enough that she would not act, he turned his attention to Daenys.

The look on her face is heart-wrenching. Her wide eyes filled with tears, and her trembling lips stretched into a deep frown. Her breath hitched as she tried not to cry. It makes Aemond feel like he wants to cry as well. He pressed a kiss to the child’s temple.

“Don’t cry, my little love. You’ll be alright.” He tried to reassure her.

She blinks, and tears fall from her violet eyes. Sad, quiet whimpers escape from her lips. Tears started to well up in Aemond’s eye, his breath quivered, and a lump formed in his throat. He was never one to cry. It made him feel weak and small, something he despised more than anything. 

But when his little girl was upset like this, he wanted to cry. Sometimes, he still wanted to cry even when she wasn’t upset. There were many times when he would just watch her while she played or slept, and then suddenly, he would be hit with a massive wave of emotions. Aemond wondered if Viserys had ever felt that way when he looked at him or any of his siblings.

Vhagar let out a loud huff. A wave of hot air engulfs Aemond and Daenys. Aemond looks up, observing Vhagar carefully. The green dragon lowers her head, gently nudging her snout against the crying girl. Aemond raises his hand to wipe away Daenys’ tears.

“Look, she’s sorry for making you sad.”

Daenys sniffled and turned to look at Vhagar. The corners of her mouth turned upwards. She giggled as she rested her forehead against Vhagar’s snout. Her little arms did their best to hug the dragon’s giant head. 

Aemond chuckled lightly, raising his hand to give Vhagar a few rewarding pats. His chest was bursting with pride as he watched his favorite girls interact. The only one who was missing was you.

How do you think each ewan character would be like as a girl dad.

I have been dying to write prompts again (I did that in another life), and I have no time nowadays because of work, but because I am an unreasonable person apparently, I'll take great pleasure doing this headcanons!

Ewanverse!girldad headcanons

Abraham

He would be harsh with her/them. His community wouldn't really see girls in high regards and would be loving and caring only in private. He loves them, but is scared to be "too close" to them. In public he can't help but keep an eye on them though, they are his blood after all, his precious women.

Aemond Targaryen

He would be over protective. At first, he would think that he would care only for boys, but no matter if it's his first child, or second, or tenth, he will go into dad mode and just- raise her to be the best. He would take pleasure spending evening reading High Valyrian with her, be very wary of what dresses she wears, of who she meets. He would encourage activities, would it be dragon riding or sword fighting, and whenever she would grow up to be a little rebellious he would turn mad and worry all the time she escapes the Keep or get into trouble. But he would be so proud.

Billy Taylor

Clumsy at first. There is nothing more scary than to have a child, and have a girl of all things. He would be amazed during all the infancy, and then panick. All the time. But he would adore the moments where they would connect and spend time together. She would be as sweet as him, and would be showing her off to her mother and family proudly.

Billy Washington

↑ This is his genuine reaction learning he'll have a girl. The minute he realises it, his mind is set on doing better, on getting all the help he needs in order to be a better person, and the best dad. There is something scary about having a girl, but he knows she'll be okay because the girls in his family are brilliant.

Ettore

What will he do with a girl? Is that the product of his obsession? Why is this different of any other girls he knows? > Because it's his daughter. On earth, he would be an awful dad (if he managed to keep her, that is), would provide but barely. Maybe send her to fetch his cigarettes or do things for him that a child shouldn't do. But in the end he would like to have her closer to him. It's his daughter, no one else's.

Genyen/Shaun

Would not care, at first. Hell, what even is the point? When he sees her for the first time it's so odd, she is his, and she will grow up to resemble him. Maybe he could teach her a thing or two, who knows? How to fare for herself, how to con people. And as time passes, the more they team up, and he can't see his life without her.

Michael

It's his babygirl. He is so lucky. She will be brilliant, how could she not be? He will protect her from the others that will look down on her, because no one deserve her anyway. They don't deserve to be in his presence. He would buy her so many books, her first computer at four, and from there just watch her grow to be as brilliant as him. And then she would crush all the category of person that looked down on him when he was himself growing up. He would be so proud.

Oh, and he would made dad jokes. All the time.

Osferth

Caring, loving. A product of the sky she is. What is more beautiful than his daughter? She is a gift, and he would protect her with his life, cherish her until she is so happy she shines. He would read to her early on, and then when she would know the psaums better than him he would have the biggest grin. He doesn't want to fight anymore, just take care of her.

Tom

Him, a dad? Okay, he'll manage. Shouldn't be so hard, eh? But then a girl? He'll turn into someone else. Attentive, doting, a little firm but it's because he just want to protect his family, and hell how he would want to protect her. He would have an even closer relationship with her than the mother and would be so happy. She teach him how to be more responsable, because there is nothing more worth than changing for her.

Will

Will Will Will. Would be really lost at what to do, but then he looks and looks at her and just fall in love. Why should he not spend all the time he can with her? Would feel guilty nonetheless. What if he is not good enough? He would let the mother take care of her, but he can't stay always long. Believes she would be better without him, anyone would be actually. But life gave him this girl, he should at least try. And he won't regret it.

How do you see the Targbros as girldads, I think Daemon was pretty tamed compared to what this trio would do.

Aegon: “This is my daughter. She is perfect. Worship her. No, no, stop looking at her like that. Actually, on second thought, you aren’t good enough for her. Go away.”

Aemond: “I taught her all the best places to stab a man. She’s very good at it. (ꈍ ω ꈍ)”

Daeron: “Don’t make me get her mother.”

Maelor swears he didn’t mean it, he just clumsy that’s all. Flashing his uncle those cute little doe eyes his father taught him to do when he’s in trouble🥺.

Baby girl isn’t allowed to snoop in her parents conversations anymore, her poor mother too embarrassed to face Larys while Aemond only smirks. But she’s so excited about her new baby sibling, babbling to her mother’s belly about all the things they will do together.

Until her sissy grows up, the younger sister preferring braids and armor over pretty hairstyles and dresses. The little girl toddling after her father and impatiently watching him train with Ser Criston. She’d be the only grandchild that actually trains oopsie, Jae prefers his books and Maelor runs off before they know it.

Her and Maelor are the ones who terrorizes their annoying guests;)

Baby girl#3 is their scholar, a perfectionist princess like her father

Nobody can stay mad at Maelor for long, he's just the sweetest baby ever! And his cousin forgives him quickly and they are seen munching on some lemon cakes.

Her mommy worries over their second babe, who enjoys the dangerous side of being royal..all the training and Tourneys.

And now she has a mini Aemond to deal with as well.

Book!Viserys wasn't a good father to the greens either.

Ok, I do admit he was better than show!Viserys. At least book!Viserys didn't go as far as to say Rhaenyra was his "only child"

BUT STOP PRETENDING HE WAS ANYTHING GOOD!!!

Book!Viserys calls Aegon "Alicent's blood" when she suggests betrothing Aegon & Rhaenyra.

I'm not sure in what world saying that about your own child makes you a good father.

Unlike in the show, I don't think he would have even given betrothing Helaena to Jace a consideration because he doesn't think his children with Alicent are even good enough to be consorts.

He was upset Alicent wanted her own blood on the throne, and he betrothed Aegon & Helaena himself and made them marry at 15 & 13. (What a loving father! At least he cares about them enough to make 1 horrible decision regarding their lives right?)

Now let's get to his biggest offence. Aemond's eye.

Am I faulting him for loving Rhaenyra & Luke? No.

Was he as asshole for scolding Aemond over rumors instead of being worried for his well being? Yes.

The very least he could have done is make Luke apologize since he did disable Aemond for life, but NO, he has to make Aemond feel ever worse.

I know book!Aemond was a bully and an asshat ok (and what he does to Luke later isn't justified), but let's not pretend that he wasn't a victim in this particular situation.

"But he was a good father to Helaena! He loved her and her kids."

Wow, amazing how he got along well with the daughter who listened to his every whim and never once complained to him or demanded he listen to her desires.

He was also such an amazing father to her he let her get knocked up at 13 or 14 by her 15 year old brother who he forced her to marry when Rhaenyra didn't have to marry until she was 17. Truly father of the decade!

(Obviously the Rhaenyra thing is not great either but it's very different from being a literal middle schooler.)

Oh, and I'm definitely sure he definitely would have supported Helaena if she ever had bastards that were so obviously not Aegon's.

And wow, how amazing is it that he didn't neglect his teen daughter's children.

Truly something we should be praising him for, but let's remember if Luke ever cut out any of Helaena's children's eyes, you can sure bet beloved girldad Viserys would be on her side.

(Oh, and nothing is mentioned about his relationship with Daeron ever apart from the fact he wanted him to be besties with Jace. Not unlikely he may have forgotten he had a 5th child just like show!Viserys.)

girldad aemond headcanon.

moments after reader gave birth to a boy, aemond could not help but feel a bit disappointed. after all, he wanted a little girl that would be as fierce, kind and intelligent as her mother. but, alas, he was blessed with a boy. the disappointment was recorded by many historians, which was quite uncommon for a prince. even eye witness accounts by the midwives confirmed it.

aemond: a boy? oh man!

reader: *face looking like a tomato* aemond! you'd better love your first born son!

aemond: i mean, sure that he is wonderful but, do you have anymore in there?

reader: *sweating. cranky. tired. bloated. fed up* aemond!

after three more tries, the happy couple was then blessed with a daughter who ruled, protected and led the realm to prosperity for years to come.

Bro wanted a girl and didn't give up trying until he got his daughter 😭🙏🏻

Is it just me or would Aegon and Viserys have gotten along really nicely character wise if Viserys hadn’t decided to distance himself from him to show loyalty to Rhaenyra and hadn’t gotten so ill? I wonder how he would have turned out

He would have, because Viserys willingly overlooks the bad aspects of his family members' behaviour until he absolutely must stare them in the face (see: Daemon). It's why the show is so confusing yet again because they tell us he's a 'nice guy' but it's not shown very well. In the books, he clearly has a strong attachment to Helaena and her children, and loves spending time with them. He was present in Aemond's life to the point of goading him into claiming Vhagar if he was "bold enough" and Aemond put value on his father's opinion enough to be annoyed by this and go ahead and do exactly that.

There isn't much of a mention on Aegon and Viserys's relationship in the books, but with how needy Aegon appears to be for parental approval on the show, it's impossible Viserys wouldn't have noticed.

That being said, in the books, Viserys wasn't dealing with a chronic illness that left his mind half withered , so maybe his children were too much to deal with a lot of the time and he'd rather be drugged out. I think he could have transformed Aegon into a mini-me but he just didn't bother because he was too busy focusing on how he failed with Rhaenyra. The show made the mistake of giving him too much of a "girldad!" angle whilst sacrificing other aspects of his character. Plenty of men irl are obtuse enough to see their kid suffering due to their actions, not blame themselves for it and just move on. He didn't even do right by Rhaenyra in the end so what was it all for? He barely even paused to consider what he did to Aemma except for a stray comment right before he died.

The only reason I can think that Viserys put distance between himself and Aegon is that Aegon reminded him too much of Daemon. His younger brother was also too "needy" when it came to his approval, and I get the feeling Viserys didn't really want to accept the burden of that so he'd just smile and pretend he didn't see Daemon disintegrating. Aegon might have suffered from the same brush.

But of course this is all conjecture because this wonderful show leaves us to fill in gaps we really wouldn't have to ponder if the story were formulated better.

Just imagine Aemond having 2 sons and wanting so badly to have a girl, so when his wife is pregnant for 3 time he spends whole 9 months praying 2 a day so the Gods will give him a daughter and then his wife gives birth and it's girl and she didn't cry and laughed instead and Aemond is like *dying from happiness* and from the day 1 he calls her 'piece of my heart' and is basically glued to her crib because he wants to just stare lovingly at her all the time 💖

I am working on a modern Helaegon fic and I just wanna say that I really think Helaena would be academically smart and successful in her studies. I think she would be one of those students that just pays so much attention during the lesson and understands everything in class really well. But she doesn't study at home so from her just listening to the lesson and doing the homework given she would get average grades and her intellect goes unnoticed by the people around her. After Aegon's failure at getting good grades due to his lack of trying Alicent would direct all her attention onto Helaena getting into a good school and what a great surprise for her, her daughter is actually really intelligent and when pushed to study hard she does get into a top uni. Aegon would be shown as an example of what not to do to Helaena while she is studying for university and Helaena would be shown as an example of what to do to Aemond and Daeron while they are studying for university.

I also headcanon that the only one not surprised by this was Criston. Viserys was never there for his children before he was ill and couldn't even function after getting ill. Alicent was going through all these pregnancies back to back and between dealing with every new baby she gave birth to and dealing with Aegon who was a bit of a troublemaker, she never had the time or opportunity to just sit down and talk to Helaena about school and classes. Criston was the one who was responsible for looking after Helaena (btw he is a #girldad) and would watch over her when she did her homework from the moment she started school. So he was not at all surprised when she was recognized as an academically smart student. Like "You all didn't know?"

Bad Sleeping Habits

Dad!Aemond x Wife!Reader

Summary: Aemond has trouble being firm with your daughter.

A/N: This is just a little drabble I wrote. No beta, so I apologize for any spelling and grammar mistakes!

Aemond had always been a light sleeper, even more so after the birth of your daughter. He had always been the first to wake up and rush to her side anytime she made the slightest noise. So when he heard her shuffling out of bed in the middle of the night, he woke up immediately. He didn’t get up, instead choosing to wait and see what she was up to.

The two of you had been trying to get Daenys into the habit of sleeping in her own bed. To say it was a struggle would be an understatement. The two of you had let her sleep between you a few times, and apparently, she took that to mean she had to sleep in your bed every night.

Aemond didn’t honestly mind it. He loved every minute of it. He knows that once she gets older, he won’t get those moments when he can hold her close and have her sleep in his arms anymore. So he wants to hold on to her as long as he can. 

Aemond kept perfectly still as he felt the blanket at the bottom of the bed being tugged down. He used one of his hands to hold onto it so that it would not completely slip off the bed, as Daenys used it as a ladder to climb onto the bed. He pretends to be asleep, though he cracks his eye open just enough to watch his little girl, in case she slips.

She let out a little grunt as she successfully reached the top. Aemond doesn’t move as she climbs over him, most likely trying to take her usual place between the two of you.

He does his best not to cry out when her knee accidentally digs into the flesh of his thigh. He doesn’t want to frighten his little girl or, even worse, wake you up. So, he does his best to bear the pain.

He waits until she reaches the top of the bed before rolling over to face her. She freezes, her eyes wide open, knowing she’s been caught. Though her shock quickly turns to amusement. Daenys gives him a cheeky smile.

“Why are you out of bed?” He whispers. “Go back to sleep,” he scolds her playfully.

“Nuh-uh,” she shakes her head, making her little silver curls shake side to side.

 Daenys sits back on her heels—a mischievous glint in her eyes.

Aemond lifts his hands, trying to brace himself. He makes it just in time before she throws herself on top of him. Her little arms wrap around his shoulders, squeezing him tightly as she buries her face into his neck. Messy, silver curls tickle his nose. Aemond shakes his head, trying to push her hair away.

“Fine, you can stay,” he sighs, “but your mother won’t be pleased with us in the morning.”

He grabbed the blanket, pulling it over the both of them.

She yawned, nuzzling her cheek against his shoulder. “Night, night, kepa.” 

“Goodnight, my little dragon.” He hummed, gently running his hand over her back.

Aemond stared up at the canopy, and once again, he found himself wondering how he had gotten here. What had he done to deserve such happiness? The man had always known he would marry and eventually have children someday. He was a Targaryen prince, after all. Yet he had never imagined it would make him feel so... content. 

“You spoil her too much,” you mumble drowsily.

Aemond turned his head, finding you with your head still buried in your pillow.

“She’s a princess. It's practically in the job description.” He smirked. “Besides, you don't seem to mind when I spoil you.”

“Fine,” you sigh. “But she’s sleeping in her own bed tomorrow.”

Aemond reached over and grabbed your hand. He lifted it, pressing a kiss to your knuckles.

“Goodnight, my love.”

Hello how are you? Any headcanons on Rhaenyra and her sweet sister Helaena? I know that Fire and Blood does not detail much of the sisters' relationship, that their personalities are opposite and that there is a huge age difference between them. But since Rhaenyra refers to her as "My sweet sister" instead of including her under "Half-siblings", it may indicate that they are fond of each other.

a big hug to you for bringing up our girls. 🥺 Let me tell you, I love nothing more than to imagine Rhaenyra and Helaena's sisterly bond,because I truly think the choice to refer Helaena with with an endearment wasn't unintentionally

So let me share some of my fluffy headcanons about these two pre-war because we know what happens in canon and we need some joy in these scenarios

Helaena & Rhaenyra headcanons

1) Rhaenyra is someone Helaena looks up to; her sister is beautiful, bright and charming. And though whispers about her not being as radiant as Rhaenyra has reached her ears, Helaena isn't capable of jealousy. She knows who she is and by the time she's happy with herself.

2) Rhaenyra is an incredible storyteller; she's enthusiastic, energetic, and confident when telling the stories of their ancestors. Helaena has always been her favorite person to tell stories to because she's the one of the younger siblings to not only engage a lot but to also have an awareness of their history. Her favorite stories centered around Rhaena Targaryen because she felt a kinship for being the second rider of Dreamfyre

3) Rhaenyra is the youngest person in the family to have ever ridden a dragon, and because Helaena isn't prideful like her brothers she shyly asks an advice as to how to claim the dragon she feels drawn to.

4) Both Helaena and Rhaenyra share a private dinner with their father because a) Viserys Targaryen is a girldad and he loves nothing more than to have his two girls with him and b) because the boys can be a nightmare and fights always break out. Dinner with the girls is a peaceful, pleasant affair.

5) Helaena has strong gut instincts and has thus always disliked Ser Criston Cole because of his unnerving constant stare at her sister. Her joy of his dismissal is vanquished when she realizes her mother took him under her wing.

6) Helaena is Rhaenyra's favorite sibling not only because she's the less obnoxious of the bunch, but also because she has always wanted a sister and as much animosity may exist between her and her stepmother Helaena is her blood. It helps that she has always had a sweet, calm demeanor. Their dynamic works because Rhaneyra encourages her to be confident and bold and Helaena is a cool water against Rhaenyra's fiery temper and always vocal about her love and affection she feels for her older sister.

7) Both are helpless romantics; so of course they enjoy plays and songs that tell any love story

8) Aegon & Aemond are nasty as kids and Helaena is one of their easy victims. Mocking and terrorizing her is something that has brought the boys closer. Unfortunately for them, Rhaenyra isn't shy about speaking out and she's capable to humiliate them publicly. thisz usually results to them telling this to Alicent who is more than eager to fight with her stepdaughter because her sons can do no wrong. Usually Helaena tries to refrain from ever complaining about what the boys do to her because she doesn't want to be the reason for her mother and beloved sister to fight, but she'd be a liar if she said that it didn't make her feel touched and loved than Rhaenyra is willing to put the boys in their place.

9) Many songs and poems have been written for and about Rhaenyra. But no piece has ever touched her heart as deeply as the music her sister wrote and dedicated to her.

10) After some failing advice she was given by her mother and ladies when she expressed nervousness about her wedding night, Helaena sneaked into her sister's chambers and woke her. While Rhaenyra was displeased and grampy about being awoken in the middle of the night, she did provide better and more sound advice that helped calming her sister's nerves

11) When Helaena promises to keep in touch she means it so of course when Rhaenyra leaves to rule Dragonstone the first letter to reach her is not her father's who has promised to eagerly writes but her sister's. At first Rhaenyra thought she could use this exchange as a way to keep tabs of what's happening at court but she quickly figured that Alicent most likely keeps an eye on their letters so all conversation remained casual and free of political schemes.

Of course Alicent, similiarly to Rhaenyra was also eager to use her daughter's letters to figure out moves and scandals her stepdaughter may do. But she was quickly disappointed when Helaena filtered her questions to genuine concerns and curiosity.

The letters that never stopped going back and forth helped bring the sisters closer.

fixating on girldad aegon currently. he learnt how to braid hair because arra refused to let the handmaidens do it. he taught her curses in high valyrian when she was 5- earning a chewing out from calla. he takes her horseback riding often as she isn’t ready to fly a dragon. he plays dress up with her- stealing calla’s dresses under her nose.

he LOVES being a father. he spent calla’s pregnancy thinking of all of the things he can do with his child, all of the places he can show them. there was more to see than just a castle.

he refused to let calla do any work during her first pregnancy. he threw a fit when, during pregnant with their son, she helped herd sheep on her mare. during rhya and aemond visit, the couple thought aegon was a nutcase.
