Feeling the distance of lockdown and the lack of connection. It is no wonder that I was drawn back to working on a girl and owl painting. A theme I love as owls are wisdom guides that turn everything upside down and help you see things in new ways. So how do we even start to find our small spaces of connection when the world is so off balance. For me it is about taking a breath and pausing so I can be open to the beauty of nature that surrounds me in my urban backyard studio. The fact that nature with all the birds and animals that share our world remind me that we are all connected. This little connection story is my current wip. The small owl is such a heart opening guide as the background leaves rustle in the wind. I am able to imagine myself in this space where I lean into her connection. The little owl as always, is curious and reminds me to wonder as worrying is not working. What if…she whispers softly… as I feel my shoulders drop. I feel my way into this space of pausing and being in the moment… mindful and grateful that I am lucky enough to be painting small moments of beauty. Still more to go but the feeling shift of art has lifted that sense of isolation and I can see the possibilities with hope and love. Imagine you are her for a moment and just breathe into the calm of this guided connection. Imagine the indigo blues and soft purples wrapping around you as the leaves gently russle in the wind. We all need that gentleness and self compassion and so I hope you can lean and not your own connected spaces as you breathe into the beauty of nature that surrounds your world. What spaces and places opening and connect you to your inner wisdom? The reality is that every art piece is a layered adventure that grows and evolves with you. This piece has travelled through many iterations and feels close to completion. The only way a piece stops evolving in the artist’s eyes is when it finds a new home. As I grow and change, the art I am creating continues to grow with me. I need to complete the face but everything else feels as though it has come to Canada mlstion.Whi knows if I will feel the Ameena 6 months from now. The soft pink and powder blue have added a lovely few gentle strength to this piece. The wings have become an abstract playing field that a few month ago I could not have created. I’m exploring what it means to limit my media. It is such a nice space to play on. This piece is graphite, red, blue and black pen (four pen) and white out. I’ll add more I think but actually love the feel of it at this point. There are a million questions in this 🎨 painting as I push the edges of what I know about colour and faces. I’m playing and seeing what comes the through and it has reached a place where I am feeling complete. The vibrancy if the colour feels right and the patterns and whispy lines add to that feeling of connection. 🌀🌀🌀🌀🌀 This is one of those paintings that I continued to paint past that point where I could easily have left it. 🌀🌀🌀🌀🌀 Somehow I new the process needed more and that this painting had more to teach me. 🌀🌀🌀🌀🌀 That is one of the reasons that I love art. There is an inner space where in that silent pause we connect to those guiding whispers. My art symbolizes this connected space where we are in our heart listening. Angels, owl🦉 and wolf🐺 are guide symbols that occur repeatedly in my art. 🐺 This solitary wolf is a teacher and guide who is always at my side. Sometimes white and sometimes black, depending on the journey I am in at the time. The wolf is the animal guide of my heart chakra and opens new paths that encourage daring action. 🦉 The owl is the wise friend who whispers in my ear so that I can step into my inner wisdom and move forward confidently always knowing the guidance is with me. The owl is Amy third eye spirit animal who sees the soul path. Owl lets me know if I am going the direction that will get me to the destination my higher self intends. 😇 I have been surrounded by angels for a long time now. Their guidance and energy is always there. I often draw an angel card at the start of a studio session for guidance. 🌀 This is a connected space where we breathe into our connections and as we do often we are surprised by joy. 🎨 Creating art is a way that I connect easily as I listen for those intuitive whispers and move forward layer by layer. Art is a space where I find my center. 🙏 It is meditation, mindfulness and prayer. Those breathing spaces are where we find our flow and return to balance. We breathe into spaces where we can fill up on a soul level so all those responsibilities that call for our attention become part of the joy of being. 🌀 These little drawings and brooches are currently on display at Richmond Library in Melbourne until mid June. 🌀 Where do you find your breathing space. A wonderful night with Jeith and back again tomorrow night for an all women comedians gala.
