The Universe
Made up of nine stars, the constellation called Sylvilagus roughly resembles the shape of a dove. It can be seen most prominently high above the Eastern horizon just after the winter solstice.
In an ancient society, this constellation was seen as the representation of the goddess Una.
The Worlds Name: Sakura Moon
Long ago, the goddess Una created a man and woman and gave them a beautiful land; fruitful with life as a gift. There they enjoyed the company of their sisters and brothers. This man and woman were named Ukra and Omara. All Una asked from her children is to stay away from the sacred well. One day, Omara was tending the field when her sister Dracana convinced her to drink the water from the well. Dracana was a rebel and wanted to know more about the well. Omara and Dracana drank from the sacred well and transformed into beasts. Dracana into a vampire and Omara into a werewolf.
As punishment Dracana and Omara was cursed to roam Sakura Moon for 100,000 years unable to change back into their original form. Ukra was given magic to protect any future access to the sacred well, giving birth to the elves, fairies, and spellcasters.
Festivals of the 9 Kingdoms:
Fight Fair:
Both the vampire and werewolves come together to celebrate their strength with a great feast and battle. Usually held in the fall.
Magic Fun Festival:
All the spellcasters' royal families gather together for a feast and great fun in the art, music and magic. This usually occurs in the fall.
Life Festival:

Dolfin Festival:
The mermaid royal family and their people gather together for a festival to celebrate the spellcaster Dolfin. Dolfin created the first mermaids. This usually occurs in the summer.
NOTE: In the spellcasters Royal Kingdoms, the royal families holds a masquerade ball where future royals and nobles met their future spouses. Nobles and Royals of the age of 16 attend the ball to get to know each other, and at the end of the ball, they will reveal their identity. Once their future spouse has been selected, they will date until the age of 18 and prepare for the wedding festivity or chose not to marry.

If Iroh leaves Nanyue to offer aid to his brother, do the other high ranked military people in Nanyue remain there or.. Follow him?
Ozai stalked off his ship and down to the dock, practically fuming. He refused to turn around to survey the damage. Who could have thought a mere child capable of such destruction?
At least they were in port now, where they could get repairs and stop worrying about things like the hull giving out and the entire ship taking them to the bottom of the icy sea. Ozai was more than willing to turn the mess over to the shipwrights in favor of going to plan his next move. He needed a new ship and a cup of coffee and to check and see if there was another letter from Ursa -
Someone whistled. “What happened to your ship?”
Ozai whirled around to find the speaker. “Zhao?” The other teen was staring up at what was left of Ozai’s ship, looking grudgingly impressed. He was a bit taller than he’d been when they’d last met, and the sides of his face had sprouted a poor excuse for sideburns, but it was Zhao alright.
And if Zhao was here, that meant Admiral Jeong Jeong wasn’t far behind, and where Jeong Jeong was…
“Brother!”
…Iroh was bound to be there, too.
“What are you doing here?” the younger prince demanded. Last he’d heard, Iroh had been making arrangements to wipe Nanyue off the map.
“I came as soon as I heard the news!” Iroh answered. “I am not going to let my little brother go up against the Avatar alone!”
Ozai stared at him. “What?”
“I’m here to help! Together, we will hunt down the Avatar and put an end to the greatest threat against our nation!” Iroh looked way too pleased with himself, the way he did when he swapped Ozai’s coffee beans out for tea leaves, or when he thought he’d managed to trick Ozai into babysitting Lu Ten.
“What? No!” Ozai snapped. “This is my mission! You can’t just cut in!”
“It’s not a mission, it’s a coming-of-age trip that’s turned out to be more than we thought it would be,” Iroh said flatly. “Also, it’s the Avatar. The Fire Nation’s number one enemy. Your sister-in-law would kill me if I left you on your own against him!”
“Janya needs to realize that I can handle myself,” Ozai grumbled. He noticed that Zhao was politely staring at something that was not him or his brother, but was doing a poor job of hiding his insufferable smirking.
“Oh, don’t worry brother, I’ll let you handle yourself - with supervision!”
“Ugh.”
“Whenever you two are done with your fraternal bickering, the tea’s ready.”
Ozai looked away from Iroh to see that Zhao had been joined by Admiral Jeong Jeong, who was looking between Iroh and Ozai with a completely unamused look.
“Excellent!” Iroh beamed. “Come, brother, we must go strategize!”
Ozai glowered at Iroh’s retreating back. “What kind of tea?”
“Ginseng,” Jeong Jeong said. At Ozai’s groan, he added, “The coffee is ready as well.”
“Admiral,” Ozai said, “you are a gift to this world.” And he headed after Iroh.
Behind him, he heard Jeong Jeong stop Zhao. “You are going to go to the top of that watchtower and work on your breathing exercises.”
“What?! But that’s all I did all morning!”
“It takes a long time to learn patience.”
Ozai smirked to himself as Zhao grumbled away. Iroh looked over his shoulder, saw what he assumed was his little brother in a good mood, and grinned. “Do not worry, brother! Together, we’ll find a way to defeat the Avatar! I’m going to need you to tell me everything about your encounter with the old menace.”
“Well, to begin with,” Ozai said, “he’s twelve.”
Iroh stopped in his steps and turned around, blinking. “Twelve?”
“From what I understand there was a magic iceberg involved.”
Iroh looked from Ozai back to the ruin of his ship. “A twelve year old did that?”
“Completely unsurprising,” Jeong Jeong hummed as he caught up with them. “Even twelve-year-olds can be destructive forces, given their lack of control. You should’ve seen the messes Zhao was making before I took him as my student.”
“Well, no matter,” Iroh said. “We have two Fire Princes, Admiral Jeong Jeong, and an entire fleet of Imperial-class ships! We’ll defeat the Avatar, I’m sure of it!”
“If you’re all here,” Ozai said, “who’s invading Nanyue?”
“The Avatar is our priority.”
“So…no one then.”
“We have troops stationed to monitor the situation and combat anything that might happen, but for now the Trungs are keeping quiet and the Avatar is the main threat.”
“Does Father know we’re procrastinating on Nanyue again?”
“I’m sure he’ll agree with my reasoning whenever he learns of it.”

Sense of Place
The physical world is important for multiple reasons. Primarily, it keeps us alive. It gives us limitless creatures and materials and objects and senses that we can study and consume and make art about. The physical world is also our home. Most people have deep connections with where they grew up, where important milestones happened, and even just where they felt incredibly unique once-in-a-lifetime experiences. This sense of place is probably why we feel a heavy desire and obligation to preserve. Today we are going to discuss the theft and destruction of land, the lack of consultation in communities when determining the state of the environment in which they live, and what a sense of place means personally.
“'Commons is a fundamental social institution that has a history going back through our own colonial experience to a body of English common law which antedates the Roman conquest. That law recognized that in societies there are some environmental objects which have never been, and should never be, exclusively appropriated to any individual or group of individuals.’ Development of commons by absentee investors is a recurrent capitalist process epitomized in the parliamentary enclosures that cleared the commons for grazing sheep in England during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The social and environmental legacy in England includes irreversible deforestation, degradation of soils and water, homelessness, and the emergence of the world’s first industrial working class from the displaced rural population that found work weaving wool at the looms of Birmingham and Liverpool. Social and ecological effects were ignored and sustainable agriculture displaced in the name of efficiency and higher production.
The way that the law has always worked is to allow business owners and people in power to more efficiently obtain and use resources that they want. Unfortunately, this entire dynamic hinges on profit, and since all industry exploits natural resources in order to meet public demand, this law-making strategy has had a catastrophic effect on the environment. “Commons” effectively ripped the right to land away from Native Americans and then stripped that land in order to achieve maximized profit.
“The cultural portions of environmental impact assessments generally are grounded in acts of looking, in windshield and pedestrian surveys, and in consultation with maps. Consultation with local communities is rare and desultory. One archaeologist points out that the coal companies paying for environmental assessments would be unlikely to pay for the extra time needed to consult with local residents.”
An unmistakable indication of the state of the environment rests in the quality of life that communities lead in different geographical states. For example, if there is a dead zone in the water off the coast of the Brazil due to animal waste run-off, the community nearby that relies on those waters for fishing would be devastated. Another big example is the air quality of China due to industrial pollutants. However, those examples are just obvious ones. The effects of subtle environmental destruction/degradation can be enormous on communities, and you may never know unless you directly communicated with residents of those communities. Simply using a scientific and observational approach to gauge the state of the environment completely neglects the human element of environmental effects.

This painting is a painting I made during the summer after my freshman year in high school. I practically lived at my best friend, Kasie’s, house. We would swim and cook vegan food and play games on Miniclip. But we also gardened. This is her garden. Behind her pool, which I drew as a pond here, there was so much room. She had bushes, cactuses, peach trees, tomato vines, carrots, and so many herbs and flowers. I feel as though her home is also my second home. I feel such an intense amount of love and nostalgia for her backyard and all of the memories I made there.

Welcome to the Wardens, Lash! Your application for a RANGER OC has been accepted with a Richard Madden FC.
The application can be found under the cut. You have 48 hours to create a roleplay account (cannot be a sideblog) for your character and we will be updating our opening date soon!
Name: Lash
Age: 24
Timezone: Eastern
Activity Level: IT’S SUMMER TIME YO
Name: Jareth Bozkurtlar
The Huntsman
Gender: Male
FC: Richard Madden
Age: 30
Class: Ranger
Nationality: Unknown, Orphan raised by a farmer on the outskirts of THE LORRIN FOREST
He is actually Siftish but he is not sure where his family lived or what they were
He was found with a Ranger amulet with his surname engraved on it
He sought out the life of a ranger after his adoptive father passed away
Appearance:
Jareth wears his kills like badge of honor. His favorite game is the giant wolves that roam the wilderness. Being rare and hard to hunt, he accepts the challenge whenever it presents itself. He has made a name for himself as The Huntsman. His apparel is made up of furs and skins. The armor he wears is crude at best; mostly vulnerable leather. He carries a sword but would much rather prefer to stalk and put an arrow through his prey.
Jareth is a much respected hunter as opposed to the many poachers and trophy seekers. He enjoys the kill and the thrill but he holds his role in the balance sacred. The circle of life is to be taken with extreme care. He kills cleanly and always offers gratitude to whatever animal he has taken for nourishment. This is a trait most overlook in favor of naming him a ruthless animal slayer. Once people see how he truly works their attitude usually changes.
Their initial aversions to the man are justly warranted. Jareth stands out more so than normal rangers due to his tragic past. He never smiles and smells like fresh earth. It is a scent few find appetizing. He has no use for modern advances and prefers the shelter of a great shade tree to the stuffiness of a closed room. He carries a hammock in his pack so that he can sleep whenever he is too tired to keep riding.
His horse is a dark brown, black maned male known as Ginseng. Jareth found him next to his dead mother while digging for Ginseng root. He was a wild foal but the two hit it off from day one. They are inseparable.
Personality:
+Dutiful, Respectful, Compassionate
-Introverted, Critical, Vengeful
History:
He is a very serious man due to his tragic past. Raised as an orphan by a poor farmer, he had a hard time developing any real connection with people. It was always nature that called to him. He looked to it for comfort and clarity until he met his wife bathing in a stream. She was an exotic woman to him; with coal black hair and an olive complexion. The sight of her put a gut wrenching feeling within him. He needed to know her. She saw him looking gat her and only met his prying eyes with a smile.
Jareth wondered if he had been snared by a Siren. Was he about to be pulled under and drowned with a kiss? He would gladly let her take him under. As he shuffled toward her if she covered herself with a cloak. A smile broke the silence between them and they spoke for hours. She loved the forest and enjoyed his many tales of hunts and adventures. Over the course of a year he finally mucked up the courage to ask her father for her hand.
Her father was a brutish, greedy old man. He wanted a match of wealth and prosperity for his daughter. Jareth could only offer the meager earnings of a fur trader. The father turned him down and laughed at his preposterous request, however, Jareth planned to run away and take his bride with him.
The plan went smoothly and the two lovers whispered their vows and took to a life on the run. It worked for a while until the anger of her father caught up with them. In his desperation he offered a reward for the return of his daughter; dead or alive.
By this time the two had conceived and had a son together. They called him Garthiel. The threats became an everyday ordeal. Jareth had to protect his family every waking second. The bounty on his wife was too great for anyone to pass up. When the Dark Union got involved he stood no chance against them. The assassins came and Jareth was unable to stop them. His son held no value so he was killed before his eyes while they held him in place.
No matter how hard he struggled he could not free himself against them. When his wife ceased screaming he went slack in their arms waiting for his own last breath but it never came. All they took was the head of his wife. The bodies lay where they fell and Jareth, left alive, in the center of the bloodshed. A hooded figure stepped out of the darkness and laughed down at him. The shadows swirled to life around him and he felt the wrath of his sins beating down upon him. When he awoke the next morning he found only the assassins bodies mangled and eaten while his wife and son were intact. A single wolf lay near them as if he were protecting the dead. The wolf follows Jareth to this day.
In the days following word spread that there was a murderer on the loose. The old man had reported Jareth had taken his daughter, raped her, forced her to bear his children and then killed them both when he attempted to save her form his evil clutches. The story was insane but people believed it. Jareth was forced to run as he always had before.
Jareth is a wanted criminal in the Carn, his wife’s ancestral lands. He doesn’t anticipate anyone recognizing him in Miwor Town but he is unaware there are those who might know just what he supposedly did. Those who believe the publicized story see Jareth as a killer, a man who would rape and murder the mother of his child after making her watch her son die. The vivid picture was painted in all the blood and gore of what actually happened but blames the wrong man. Jareth suffers from the loss and more so from the damage of his reputation. He has become even more reluctant to build relationships with others out of fear of judgments. The only reason he continues to life is the intervening of the Balance. The balance came to his aid and spared him of death for a reason. He whole heartedly believes his purpose is to join the Wardens and help bring balance back.
Reason For Joining The Wardens:
Jareth finds himself in Miwor Town after the devastation of the rift. The pain and loss in the air brings back the awful memories of his devastating losses. He has been on the run for five years but since the death of his father in Law, the interest has been lost. He wants to begin leading a somewhat normal life and cope with the events of his past. Knowing the balance is being disturbed makes him weary. He has sought out the Wardens to aid them in any way that he can. He doesn’t think anyone will recognize him as the brutal killer of the wanted posters but there are sure to be some floating around the town. The nightmare that is his past is sure to follow him into the warden’s ranks. If their leader remotely recognizes him he will be forced to flee or convince her that he is innocent of all charges. Though he disagrees with the Holy Light he is eager to help the you leader protect the people. He is also curious as to why she left her position as the Hand of Light, perhaps he can convert her to the righteous Fenarious Faith.
Desired Connections:
Jareth is a stranger but he is a wanted man, especially around Carn. His wife was a Carnish woman whose father has painted him a vile murderer. Any Warden may have seen his bounty poster or heard of the gruesome tale. I am eager for Jareth to defend his reputation to his new Leader.
Para Sample:
“You will wake the boy.” Delilah chuckled out the words as he rolled over her in their tent. Their young son lay soundly sleeping on the other side of the curtain. Jareth and Delilah’s head turned to be sure he was still peacefully sleeping. Jareth pushed himself off of her into a battle ready stance as the shadows approached the canvas. Dim candles signaled the approach of shadows. Before he could release a cry of warning he was shoved into the dirt. Men surrounded them as his wife and son cried out in fear. She fought them hard rushing for the child. They got to him first. Jareth looked up from the corner of his eye, his cheek forced against the dirt by his assailant. There were at least three of them. He could see nothing but flashes of shadow and dust. His hearing was still intact; at least if he could hear them they were still alive.
“JARETH! HELP ME! MY SON! NOOOOO!” Jareth heard the sickening sound, the sudden stop of a child’s cries. His wife collapsing to the ground in hopelessness as he sobbed into the mud, still unable to move, arms shackled in iron at his back. The dust beneath him slowly turning to mud as he lost every ounce of will to remain living. His wife was next but he couldn’t pinpoint when, she made no sound after they took their son’s life. He waited for their finale. It never came. They gloated and laughed at his sobbing. A broken man was fun to mock, especially to those who felt no love or emotion. Jareth had committed no crime aside from loving above his station. Rangers really hardly found a soul they could share a life with. His had been murdered in front of him.
The leader crouched down so that Jareth could see his boots. He knew what they had done. He felt the anger rise up inside of him and he thrust himself out of the mud to sit on his knees. “DON’T YOU DARE TOUCH HER!”
“Too late for that. She didn’t feel a thing. You are the last one she will remember.”
The man spoke in amusement, regarding the despicable act as a joke. Jareth wanted to kill him slowly. The only thing that kept him from his desire was the overwhelming fact that she was gone. The vile beast tossed her severed head in the dirt before Jareth. A wave of indescribably emotion took over and he called on the balance. He wanted justice for their despicable crimes. Suddenly out of the shadows of darkness came the low growling, unmistakable to the Ranger. He himself had no fear. He was partially dead after all the horror he had just witnessed. The men surrounded him and beat him mercilessly, dismissing the growl as nothing to be concerned with.
Screaming was all the Ranger registered before his injuries rendered him unconscious. The next morning he found the bodies of the men in mangled messes. His wife and child were untouched by the wolves. A single wolf stood near the remains of his tent watching him closely. It was huge and seemingly made of mist. Jareth knew the balance had to have showed him mercy, left him alive for a greater purpose. The wolf seemed saddened by the carnal acts that had expired on the grounds. Jareth moved his arms and found that his shackles had turned to dust. The scene was as if the balance had come down and wreaked havoc on everything that was not Jareth or his family. Ginseng nudged his shoulder and whined softly. The Ranger’s life was now in the hands of the Balance.

3 Ways to Thief-Proof Your Trail Cameras
Possibly the only thing that hurts worse than losing a
trail camera
to a thief is losing the information it contained. Here are three ways to minimize your losses.
The sick feeling in the pit of my stomach soon turned to anger as I stood there looking at the tree my scouting camera had been attached to the previous day. I hate losing a trail camera to a thief, but trail cameras can be replaced. What really made me angry was losing the information contained on the SD card. I was hundreds of miles from home on a DIY deer hunting trip.
The cameras I put out were a huge part of my decision-making process regarding where I would hang my stands and hunt. I had just lost an entire 24 hours of information about the deer in this area. That really hurts. But I won't let my anger derail my hunt, so I get over it quickly. I look at scouting cameras as if they are overhead expenses in my hunting. You have to use them, and using them is a risk. You will lose a few, and you'll have to go buy more. But what do you do when your truck gets low on gas? You go get more gas. Same with scouting cameras.
The information gathered by these cams can be extremely valuable, and I refuse to use cheap cameras that don't have the features I need just because of the risk of losing them to some sticky-fingered low life.
I run a lot of good quality scouting cameras; it's almost like a sport in itself for me. I use them not only for deer hunting, but for bear hunting, property surveillance, wildlife viewing, even predator monitoring and control. I put some in areas where I don't expect anyone to ever find them, and at times I put some in areas where I figure others will see them and I hope they leave them alone. The number of cameras I have had stolen over the years could be counted on my fingers. It's not a huge problem, but it really can throw a wrench in the gears of your hunting plans. I have begun to take some precautions to avoid losing them to thieves. Here are three ways to minimize your losses.
Go Covert
One of the easiest ways to cut losses is to simply use cameras that are harder to see and hide them better. There are three primary kinds of flashes for night photos: white flash, infrared, and black flash. Black flash cameras do not have a flash that is visible to the eye. Both white flash and IR cameras have lights that can be seen by anyone who happens to be looking the right direction when they take a photo. I use mostly cameras with black flash because they are less likely to be discovered. There are a lot more than deer hunters using public lands, coon hunters come through in the night, squirrel hunters, ginseng hunters, and even metal detector enthusiasts can come across your cameras on public lands. I have the photos to prove it all.
One of the things that draws your eye to a camera strapped to a tree is the webbing. That dark vertical line stands out amongst the rest of the environment. Use a camouflage strap and put the camera in a place where the strap is hidden by brush whenever possible.
Larger cameras are easier to spot than smaller ones. Many companies are making very small camera bodies that are not much bigger than your hand. Small black flash cameras are difficult to detect, but I go one step farther. I often glue small plastic leaves and moss to the face of the camera to break up its outline. You can get this material at any craft supply store. Of course, do not cover the lens, the sensor, or the flash with anything.
The likely location of the animal you are trying to photograph will largely determine where you mount the camera, but if you can choose a spot with lots going on around the camera, it makes the unit much harder to see at a glance. Both foreground and background cover helps. Use care when choosing a spot with foreground cover as waving branches and leaves can fill up your SD card with unneeded photos.
Put Them Out of Reach
One of the most effective ways to thwart thieves is to put the camera up where the bad guys cannot reach it. I like to hang the camera at least 10 feet off the ground and point it downward to monitor the area. Some people might be able to shinny 10 feet up into a tree to get the camera, but most won't. If a thief is actively looking for cameras to steal or a person is an opportunistic camera thief, neither of them are as likely to see a camera that's 10-12 feet off the ground as they are one at belt level to eye level.
There are several companies that make mounts for cameras that work in this way. The two I have used are the Covert Tree-60 and the Stic-N-Pic.
Here's how I go about it. I carry a climbing stick to the location I want to put the camera. Just one stick. I can strap the climbing stick to the tree, climb up it, and reach at least ten feet off the ground to mount my camera. When I am done, I just take the stick out with me. It's not a totally fool proof way to get the camera out of reach, but it works. Remember to carry the climbing stick with you when you check the cameras. This is one of the most effective ways to protect your cameras in theft-prone areas. Plus the photos you get are often unique and pretty cool with the downward angle.
Putting cameras up high comes with another advantage: deer do not seem to notice the flash at all. I have seen some deer become alarmed by a white flash at eye level, but I have never seen a case where a deer reacted in a negative way to a flash 10 feet up.
Lock Them Up
Most camera companies are now making lock boxes for their cameras. This was at first a response to the fact that bears like to chew on scouting cameras, but it works equally well to discourage the camera thief. These steel boxes can be bolted to a tree and then the camera is locked securely inside the box.
The disadvantages of this strategy include the extra weight of carrying the steel boxes with you and the extra tools needed to fasten it to the tree. But the disadvantages are far outweighed by the fact that it's really difficult for even the most determined opportunistic thief to steal your camera. And I have never seen anyone walking around the woods with a bolt cutter, although serious camera thieves might be dumb enough to risk that.
I have a separate backpack that I use which contains these boxes, lag bolts, padlocks and a cordless screwdriver with a socket. (Putting a screw in a tree on public land is not legal in some states; it is your responsibility to know the laws.)
I use the cordless screwdriver to fasten the box to the tree with lag screws, insert the camera, and then lock it up. It's really not that much extra work and makes it very difficult for any would-be
With a little extra effort, you can protect your cameras from thieves and get the photos you desire to help you learn more about the deer in the area. Each of these three methods has its time and place.
