can you speak about dona's relationship with yevon? how devout would you say she was? how hard was it for her to let go?
Ooo okay, y'know what, I've actually been wanting to touch on this for a while. Ever since I finished watching/listening to State of the Arc's podcast of Final Fantasy X, specifically when they mentioned on how open Dona's outfit is as a summoner compared to the others (I forget what part it is, I'm sorry, but the whole podcast is worth listening to), I've been trying to formulate how best to describe her relationship with Yevon.
Because all the other Summoners we see in X wear very traditional kimono-esque outfits, that cover pretty much their entire body. From Yuna to Isaaru to Belgemine to Ginnem to Zuke to Braska, even if they're not all kimono-esque, they're still very modest compared to Dona's. Heck, even the Warrior Monks were some semblance of Kimono or modest dress. I guess it signifies their devoution to Yevon and their willingness to committ themselves to the faith, and subsequently the pilgrimage, much in the same way a lot of followers of real world religions dress modestly. Nearly all of the clergy, the priests, and the priestesses we see in ffx and ffx-2 are dressed very modestly, like from ankle to knee, some from the chin downwards, with their hair covered. I'm not sure if there might've been a teaching or some sort of scripture in Yevon that asks this of their most devout, and I don't really want to speculate on it too much, but it wouldn't surprise me.
That being said, the only summoners (as far as I know) that don't dress this modestly are Yunalesca and Dona (edited to add Seymour into the mix here as well. His one isn't as loose as Dona's or Yunalesca's, but still fairly open in comparison). Yunalesca performed the final summoning and all that before Yevon was even a thing, so I can understand why she might not have the whole kimono-esque, modesty thing going on, but Dona? Dona was raised on an island with a temple, studied at the temple to become a summoner, presumably followed the teachings and the scriptures (to an extent) up until the end of X, attended classes at the temples, and all that jazz. So what's up?
This isn't to say she isn't devout in some respects, but the Dona we see at the start of X is a lot less devout than a few years prior. However, living on an island such as Kilika, a place that the main village is built on shallow water, has a tendancy to get destroyed or damaged by Sin quite frequently. Dona, as someone who has lived on said island her entire life, has witnessed a lot of death and destruction. Despite her constantly praying at the temple, all of the classes, nearly everyone around her doing the same, Dona had a crisis of faith. Where some people might seek more comfort in their religious practice after so much death and destruction, Dona went the opposite way. All this death, all this destruction, all this pain and suffering and the threat of losing her home over and over again, culminating in the teachings, the scriptures, Yevon itself as a belief system, bringing her less and less comfort as the years went on.
She still trained as a summoner, she still wanted Sin gone, she hated seeing people suffer, losing their loved ones, losing their homes, losing everything, regardless of if they were from Kilika or not. That's why she continued her training, regardless of if her faith was placed in the religon or not. Her decision was for the people, not because of Yevon itself told her too.
All this isn't to say that she isn't devout, to an extent, to the teachings of Yevon. In her own way, she very much is, she helps with sendings, she follows the teachings, but a lot of it is very surface level. She isn't terribly swayed by the teachings, or doesn't take what the priests say to heart too much, she doesn't seem to care that chucking Tidus into the Cloister of Trails in Kilika could land her in as much trouble with Yevon as much as it would Yuna and Co. She has an underlying disinterest, maybe bordering on a lack of conviction, in the teachings by this point. She follows the teachings only because that's what's expected of her as a summoner. She shows herself praying at the temples, liasing with the priests, performing sendings where appropriate, because that's what summoners are expected to do. If anything, she does the bare minimum, that's as far as her faith goes.
She never says outright this however, Dona's not an idiot. She's heard of Braska before he went and killed Sin to become a martyr. She knows her path could easily follow Braska's if she came out and said that, as a summoner, she doesn't truly believe in the teachings much anymore, that that aspect of her being a summoner is mostly performative. She knows that if she came out and said these things and didn't defeat Sin like Braska did, she'd be shunned by the church. Dona's not an idiot, she knows when to keep her mouth shut.
And that's why her robes/kimono-esque/summoner clothing is so open compared to the other summoners we see. Because she feels a lot less tied to the religion than the other summoners. And so, I suppose, when she sees Yevon crumble, it wasn't terribly hard for her to outwardly let go. By the time Yevon crumbles, her attachment to it as a system is like sand falling through her fingers. She wasn't entirely surprised in learning that Yevon was so corrupt, but considering how performative her faith was and looking back on all the evidence, it all made sense.
All the same, it took her a few months to truly accept it, to truly process it all, as I'm sure it would for anybody else, regardless of if they were overly religious or not. The fact that she no longer had any ties to the Fayth and the Aeons didn't help matters, and possibly muddied the waters futher. Yet, despite her feelings by the start of X, Yevon and it's teachings had provided her with some level of comfort growing up. The temples and their incense, the praying at the statues, the praying to the Fayth, the calming voices of the priests and priestesses in times of strife, it all provided her with some comfort when times were hard, when Sin had swept through the village and destroyed parts, when she lost friends and family in Sin's wake.
Yevon's destruction did shake her, but it was the loss of that level of comfort that struck her more. She was able to shake off Yevon, the corrupt parts of it, the prospect of damnation if she didn't follow every little teaching to a fault, silencing any and all that disagreed with Yevon with brute force, the hypocrisy, without too much of a second though. If her faith was a lot stronger, she might've had a harder job of it, but she didn't. We see in X-2, she is very happy to barge her way through the priests and tell them to shut the fuck up, I think by that point, she's truly shaken off Yevon as a while. There wasn't much to shake off, but any devoution she had left is gone by X-2.
#dona { 🎆 } headcanon#you know when you get an ask and it just hits the corner of your brain that makes you start spouting headcanons?#yeah this is that ask#I really want the State of the Arc guys to do a podcast series on ffx-2 but I can't see that happening for a while if ever#and even if they did I'm very aware I'd probably be disappointed by what they say about it#They mention the different vibes from X-2 and I get the feeling it's not something they'd totally appreciate for what it is#but yeah the bit they mention about Dona's outfit being so open (especially compared to other summoner's)#might signify that she's not necessarily as devout as she makes it out to be

For the prompts; Auron/Lulu with: “ what if i never see you again? ”
(Several months late in answering this, for which I apologize profusely - will hopefully get to the other unanswered prompts before too long!) "What if I never see you again?" she had whispered, tears beading onto the lashes of her tightly shut eyes as she melted into his embrace. "We can't undo what is done," he had answered, his normally gruff voice soft with regret. "My spirit is destined to the Farplane... But I hope you will visit me there, when you can." And so Lulu came once more to Guadosalam.
She'd visited the gate to the Farplane before; to see Chappu, her first love, and Lady Ginnem, her first failure.
The climb up to the stone stairway now seemed more bitter, more plodding than before.
Was she destined only for doomed relationships? Moving on from Chappu had been hard - devastating, at first. But she had done it. But Auron... her heart still raged at the fact that their time had been cut so cruelly short. He'd already been dead when she'd met him - there was no other way this could have played out. And yet, she'd fallen for him regardless - desperately so. He'd been a kindred spirit, and she had known that he would understand her better than anyone else ever had. Or ever would. When she stood before the image that the pyreflies offered of him, Lulu could not help the hot tears that rolled down her face. She simply stood there and drank him in, remaining in place long enough that her feet began to ache. She sighed. "I don't know if you can hear me," she murmured. "I used to believe that the dead could - that's why I came here in the past. But now..."
She shut her eyes, clenching her fists so tightly that her nails dug into her palms.
"Belief hardly seems the comfort it used to be. "I know I should be happy - or, at least, content. We defeated Sin. Spira knows true peace. Your sacrifice was not in vain." She exhaled a defeated breath, her eyes opening again so that her gaze could alight on the illusory form of the one she had lost. "But I miss you. I wish I could join you. "But you... Auron, would you want me to live? To go on without you? It seems too cruel a fate." She stared at him silently once more, the image offering no answers. "'This is your world now', you said," she recalled softly, "But what am I to make of it? A guardian without a summoner to protect and no pilgrimage to embark upon... And a woman without her beloved." All at once, her tears overwhelmed her, and Lulu fell to her knees, sobs wracking her body. She hadn't wept like this in years, but her despair had worn her down. Ever since she had lost him, the world no longer seemed to make sense. She'd been so strong for such a long time, and now her sorrow had eroded that shell, leaving her hollow and lost. Casting her gaze up, she watched Auron's image through the haze of her tears. "How did you do it?" she wailed. "How did you keep going for ten long years after you'd lost everything? Why didn't you give up?" Silence. Lulu crumpled further to the ground, hunching in on herself as she wept. After a time, she ran out of tears, and looked up once more. Auron's form stood there still, motionless, as if he were watching over her. Tell me that you can hear me, she silently prayed. Give me a sign, anything, to show me that you want me to go on. Because I can't - not unless you want me to. She watched, gazing at the planes of his face, waiting. And then, she saw it. His good eye blinked slowly, and the faintest smile pulled at his lips.
"Au-Auron?" Lulu said, pulling herself up to her knees and then to her feet. "Auron, can you hear me?" The gentle curve of his mouth remained. He looked more at peace than she had ever seen him in life - or in his Unsent state, more accurately. He was beautiful. Lulu's tears returned, but they were less bitter, more cathartic than they'd been. "Thank you, my love..." she whispered, her hands pressed over her heart, "for believing in me."

Just in time for @guardian-comic, FFRK has added the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth.
Chibi Ginnem on the minimap is terrifyingly cute.
As usual part of the benefit of FFRK is free access to all the game music, so this has Lulu’s theme and a fair amount of the dialog (text boxes only of course)
Yojimbo is still an asshole. In the Elite dungeon he Zanmato’d half the party including Lulu, but Yuna was there to put them back on their feet. :). Yes, he pulls out his katana, and yes, the doggie jumps at people.

Understood (FFX, Lulu/Chappu, SFW)
@pridewrite2021, Prompt 5: Asexual.
FFX, pre-canon, the first years of my idea of backstory w/ ace Lulu, how she came to Besaid and her engagement to Chappu. 600 words.
---
If there was one thing that Lulu had been searching for her entire life, it was for a place with people who could understand her.
Not many people understood why Lulu had left with Lady Ginnem as a teenager. Her family had been scared of losing their legacy to Sin, had been obsessed with future generations; they'd never realized that their constant obsession, their presentation of marriage prospects to a young woman who knew that someday those presentations would become more and more forceful, had been far more off-putting to her than the idea of losing her life on Pilgrimage. She'd been foolish and desperate to get away, and her mind had been scattered, not focused on the journey as a good Guardian's mind should have been. She still feared that was why she had failed.
Her family had probably thought she was scared of having a child. How foolish of them; she had always played at being a better mother to her dolls than her own mother had been to her, as a way of preparing herself. She'd wanted to have a child someday. What scared her was being tied to someone who would command what he wanted from her in the bedchamber as many times as he wanted, or who would take it by force. She did not want to be married to someone who didn't understand how little pleasure she took in such things, and who would secretly resent her for not feeling the same attraction that he did.
Chappu... he had understood almost immediately. He'd found her when she'd come to Besaid, penniless from the journey and terrified, only knowing she needed to be as far from her family as she could, that she needed to atone for what she'd done. And he'd been the one to offer her a blanket when she was cold, to shield her from the prying eyes of the people in the village who might've pushed to be her lover. She hadn't expected to fall in love with him, and when she'd realized she had, she'd tried to push it away, but not for the same reasons. She'd cared about him; she hadn't wanted to have to deny him anything. But he hadn't given up; he'd loved her heart and mind, he'd said. He would never push her, would take everything she'd offer him, nothing more. And it would never make him love her less.
He'd understood. It had given her so much hope. But in the end Sin had taken him, the monster that had already taken so much from Spira. After hearing the news of his death, she'd secretly wished she'd been able to take Lady Ginnem to Zanarkand. That she could have helped her bring the Calm, and then had the chance to return to Besaid and be happy with someone who really understood her. That had been long before she'd known the truth, of course - the price the Guardian paid to defeat Sin even for a few short years - but she couldn't be blamed for not having knowledge that had been hidden from the world.
She had to try again after that. It wasn't just revenge, although she understood better than most why Wakka had agreed to come with her; he'd lost his brother, and she knew it ate him up, that he'd stayed safe in Besaid while Chappu had gone to fight to protect his family. But Lulu was too tired to want revenge. She just wanted to finish what she'd started. She wanted... she wanted to stop Sin from taking away people's happiness.

List the first lines of your last 20 stories. See if there are any patterns and choose your favorite opening line!
Didn’t get tagged to do this, but I wanted to, so that’s reason enough for me ;)
I’m not necessarily going to pull strictly from my last 20 published fics, because I have some unrevealed exchange stuff that I don’t want to spoil. But everything else is on AO3 under Postal_Ninja Tagging @cicaklah and @dianafortyseven if you’d like to give it a try, or anyone else who feels like it!
1. He’s Just Not That Into You - Animal Crossing
It was a lovely day for a date, I thought to myself as I left the house that morning, so I went out to find my boyfriend Sterling to invite him out for coffee. I found him doing push-ups on the beach, unsurprisingly. He stopped and stood up as he saw me approaching, giving me a smile and a wave.
2. About Menfolk - Octopath Traveler
As the eight of them left Stonegard behind, Primrose noted that H'aanit seemed understandably quiet and somber. The huntress had just learned the grim fate that had befallen her master and was now determinedly setting out to free or else avenge him.
3. Changing Fate - Chrono Trigger
For as long as she lived, Lucca knew that she would never forget the terror and pain she'd heard in her mother's scream that day.
But if her mission through the red gate had been successful, she would at least have erased the consequences of that moment, if not the memory. 4. Would She Love Me If She Knew? - Octopath Traveler Steel met straw with no more than a whisper as Sir Olberic Eisenberg swung his sword in a wide arc, making contact with the tightly bundled rushes mounted at the end of the yard. The blade's sharp edge sliced through its target effortlessly, and as the severed top of the bundle fell, Olberic swiftly reversed the trajectory of his weapon into a backhanded swing, slicing through it a second time in mid-air. Twin thuds sounded as the two pieces of the bundle fell to the dusty ground. Satisfied with his blade's apparent razor sharpness, he sheathed the weapon and set the scabbard down on a nearby bench, then went to fetch one of the wooden practice swords from their barrel instead. He tested its weight in his hand, and switched to practicing his swings, with thought spared to footwork and form. 5. A Reason To Stay - Final Fantasy X Zanarkand. Here they were, at the edge of the world. The pilgrimage was nearly at its end, and Lulu keenly felt the oppressive weight of what was to come.
If... no, when Yuna succeeded in defeating Sin... she would be gone. The irony was not lost on Lulu that this would be the price of success. As a guardian, she had lost a summoner before, but Lady Ginnem's death had been the cost of Lulu's failure; even if she now guided her summoner to victory, she would lose Yuna all the same. 6. Wanna Bet? - Octopath Traveler Tonight was the night. Tressa was going to show Therion that she was the ultimate prank master and win that bet.
She almost felt sorry for Cyrus. Then again, the professor still seemed completely oblivious to the fact that he had become the victim of a prank war between his two comrades; the fact that the scholar remained unfazed was the very reason it had gone on for so long.
He had seemed like the perfect target. So good-natured and ready to roll with the punches. Always absorbed in either conversation or a book. Seeing him angry and embarrassed, of all people, should be hilarious. 7. A New Home For Your Memories - Hitman The Lady Diana Burnwood strode down the halls of her manor house, the low heels of her boots clicking against the hardwood flooring with each confident step she took. Her silk moiré skirts swished around her ankles as she rounded a corner and ducked through the solid oak double doors of her office. Here, alone, she sighed, her shoulders drooping slightly and the self-assured set of her jaw loosening as she made her way over to her wide mahogany desk. Sinking into the well-padded leather armchair behind it, she took a moment to reach her hands up to her head, rubbing both her temples soothingly with her fingertips. She could really use a glass of wine. 8. Le Petit Monstre - Drawfee RPF A sudden sound surprises you. It seems... wrong; unlike anything you've ever heard before. It sends an icy chill up your spine and fills your heart with dread.
But you're not alone. Jacob is there.
You turn to face him, and the same fear is painted clearly in his eyes. He hears it too. 9. Sins of the Father - Skyrim Both hands tied tightly behind her, she struggled against her bonds, grunting with ragged breath as they held her firmly in place. If only she could get a hand free to wield her magic... but it was no use.
A rising sense of panic assailed her, but she reminded herself of what was important: her son was safe. It didn't matter what happened to her, as long as he was alive and far away from this place. 10. Adrift in the Ocean of Her Eyes - Violet Evergarden (skipped the intro here, because it was taken verbatim from the movie) “May I introduce myself? If it is your wish, I will travel anywhere to meet your request. Auto-Memories Doll, at your service – Violet Evergarden.”
Her voice was soft and hushed, muffled by the thick wooden door. Hesitating, Isabella rose from her place crouched on the window seat and wandered across the room to crack the door open. She peeked out at the stranger whose arrival she had watched from her window. Why was she here? 11. Words of Love - Octopath Traveler On the morning of his and H'aanit's anniversary, Olberic awoke to silence. Cracking an eye open, he wondered how it was that his house was so quiet; B'renit, now all of three years old, was not known for her reticence when it came to using her voice. 12. The Ones Who Flew the Coop - LoZ: Ocarina of Time Her stomach tight with nerves, she waited as the boy in green went off to find her Cuccos, a look of determination on his face. She was still trying to shake away the goosebumps that had flared all over her skin when she'd tried to retrieve them herself. She felt so helpless. She hoped the boy would keep his word. 13. A Promise at the End of the World - LoZ: Majora’s Mask The light of dawn caressed Anju's eyelids, coaxing her from sleep. She turned over with a sigh as she was pulled out of her dream. She had been dreaming of Kafei, and of their wedding. He had been watching her with love in his eyes as she made her way over to him, resplendent in her wedding dress. They had been the only two there, the moment theirs alone. 14. A World of Knowledge Awaits - Persona 5/Octopath Traveler It was two weeks into summer vacation when Yusuke Kitagawa unexpectedly found himself with nothing to do. Without classes to attend, and given that the Phantom Thieves had successfully infiltrated Futaba Sakura's Palace, leading her to join their ranks and eliminate the threat from the hacker group Medjed, Yusuke was now searching for inspiration. He wanted to spend his free time painting, but was at a loss for a subject. 15. A Cleric’s Quandary - Octopath Traveler After turning over in bed for what must have been the twentieth time, Ophilia opened her eyes with a sigh. It seemed insomnia was with her tonight. Rising quietly from bed, she tip-toed her way to the door, careful not to wake the others as she left their shared room. 16. Finding Forgiveness - Skyrim Quintus Navale opened his eyes and looked at the ceiling, briefly pondering just going back to sleep. Instead, he rose and dressed himself, then prepared to open The White Phial for the day. As he stood behind the counter waiting for any patrons who might come into the alchemy shop, he couldn't decide whether he wished for a busy day or not. On the one hand, the thought of having to put on a smile and be cheerful for a customer's benefit made his stomach turn, but at the same time, having someone, anyone, to talk to might just ease his loneliness. Well, maybe a little bit, at least. 17. What the Heart Wants - Skyrim "Welcome to Warmaiden's. Now you, my girl, have definitely come to the right place."
I certainly have, Talia Willowvale had thought to herself when she first met Ulfberth War-Bear. She had merely stopped into the weapon's shop with the intent of examining their wares upon her arrival in Whiterun. She hadn't realized she would be equally assessing the shopkeeper's physique when she had walked through the door. 18. The Measure of a Man - Octopath Traveler "What is it, husband?" Olberic's wife H'aanit asked, balancing their daughter B'renit on her hip as she leaned over his shoulder where he sat reading a sheet of paper.
"A letter from Rose," he told her. "It's about Philip..."
"Philip?" she asked worriedly. "Is something amiss?"
"Not exactly..." he replied, unsure how to characterize the contents of the letter. He began to read it to her instead. 19. The Meaning of Family - Octopath Traveler "Indeed, thou art with child. I am certain of it," the midwife told H'aanit without hesitation. Clasping her husband Olberic's hand, H'aanit turned to him and smiled broadly. His eyes shone with joy as he mirrored her expression, then kissed her forehead. 20. For Want of an Axe - Octopath Traveler Somewhere in the Woodlands outside of Victors Hollow, the eight travelers were setting up camp for the night. H'aanit had decided to make herself useful by hunting some game for the party to enjoy with their evening rations. As she made her way back towards the campsite with a wild goat slung over her shoulders and Linde, her snow leopard, following close behind, she was approached by the warrior, Olberic.
"H'aanit. I wonder if I might ask a favor of you," he began, then paused. "Would you allow me to carry that for you?”
H'aanit was puzzled. "Art thou asking for a favor, or offering one?" she questioned. And adding my first fic as a bonus, because it’s the only one left. 21. Someone Strong - Octopath Traveler H'aanit smiled over her mug of mead and rolled her eyes at hearing Z'aanta exaggerating his exploits once again. His audience was Olberic, whom she has warned of her master's penchant for embellishment.
“I tellen thee, the size of the beast was beyond imagining! And yet still, one arrow from my quiver was all it tooketh!” Trends I notice: I think that the more successful openings (or at least the ones that I find more compelling) are the ones where I avoid exposition and just jump right into the character’s head, showing what they are doing or how they are feeling. Favorite opening line: I think I have to go with Would She Love Me if She Knew, which is kind of ironic because it had originally opened with an exposition dump, and on the advice of my beta I tried to intersperse Olberic’s training routine to make it feel more present. At the time, I kind of struggled with the descriptions and wasn’t confident in my writing of sword training, even after consulting with my partner, who knows more about that stuff than I do. But with a little distance, I find it quite effective now - it sets the scene, and gives us a bit of insight into Olberic as a character and what he values.

Final Fantasy AU (part II)
Here is some more of my Final Fantasy AU! This time it is other summoners that you see within the game:
Other summoners/extras
Seijuro Akashi as Seymour Guado. The ambitious summoner of Bevelle/Guadosalam (but Akashi doesn't have the crazy hair).
Ryouta Kise as Dona. The vibrant summoner of the Kilika temple. Currently traveling with his guardian, Daiki Aomine as Barthello.
Shintarou Midorima as Lady Belgemine. A summoner who is always liking to challenge Kuroko whenever the latter acquires a new aeon. Always carrying around some weird artifact as well.
Atsushi Murasakibara as Issaru. Quite the lazy summoner of the Djose temple. More concerned about getting snacks than finishing the pilgrimage.
Chihiro Mayuzumi as Lady Yunalesca. The first summoner to defeat Sin and who most people resemble Kuroko to. Prefers people not to bother his resting place or he may get a little snippety.
Chizuru Yukimura as Lady Ginnem. The summoner Riko previously guarded. I chose 'Hakuouki's Chizuru just because of the aeon you acquire when fighting Lady Ginnem in the game. *to be explained more when I get to the aeons*
I came up with a few other characters as well:
Sha Gojyo as Jecht because of being Kagami's father in my "fictional families" idea. But they also have long hair and wear bandanas.
My original character Minoru as Lord Braska. Minoru is technically a character I made for 'Yu Yu Hakusho' purposes, but he also poses as Kuroko's father in my "fictional families" idea.
Kiyoshi Teppei as Chappu. Chappu is the little brother to Wakka as well as Lulu's fiancé. This works because I really think that Riko liked Teppei.
(part I)(part II)(part III)(part IV)

hi yes pls can you share with us all your lu/wakka feelings?? and how you think they are as parents? 😊
i was waiting for this question since I started this blog cause let’s admit that lu and wakka are very underrated as a couple. I know that the concept of their love derived from chappu’s demise sounds a little odd cause Chappu was Wakka’s younger brother, however I do believe that Lulu always admired Wakka since he basically raised Chappu by himself, which I gotta admit that Wakka would be a lovely father. unfortunately that dreadful event approached wakka and lu, I think both of them supported each other in their grief stage.
the development of their relationship wasn’t displayed on any game, which makes me very peeved with square enix, so for now the rest is my idea how they infatuated with each other in my opinion Lulu actually sees a good potential on wakka, that’s the reason why she scolds him too much cause everytime he distracts himself or gets emotional or tries to make up theories, like in kilika temple he wonders if Chappu is stuck in another age, lulu just shows him the reality in a harsh way and he is probably used with her behavior.
TIDUS ASSISTED IN THEIR CONNECTION, in the farplane scene he mentioned wakka and I do think he showed her how he tries hard to comply with her demands or wishes. lulu conceals her feelings due to her painful past she lost her parents when she was 5 or something, lady ginnem and chappu. thankfully she didn’t lose father zuke. so basically, timing was essential for their relationship to work.
I THINK THEY’RE WONDERFUL PARENTS. a balanced type of discipline, lulu being disciplinarian and wakka being permissive although both of them knows how to vary in their style. vidina is filled with affection and likely he’s in good hands since wakka took care of chappu by himself and lulu treated yuna as a young sibling, a momma bear basically. I mean, in my vision they planned to have a child together and they’ll probably have another.

Angelica had never left an event so quickly in her life. Lafayette nodded with understanding as she had kissed his cheek before hailing a cab. Angelica called (Y/N)'s phone multiple times with no response, she tossed her phone in her bag with an angry huff.
"Damn it! What the hell happened back there? I'm sorry but can you please drive a little faster? This is an emergency."
When the cab pulled up in front of the Schuyler home she rushed up the walk way and when she reached the porch she stopped in her tracks. (Y/N) was sitting on the top step with her knees pulled up to her chest with tears cascading down her cheeks. She was slowly pulling bobby pins from her hair and throwing them into the yard.
"Oh sweetie..." Angie said as she slowly approached her. (Y/N) jumped and quickly started wiping the tears off her face.
"Angie! I'm sorry... I didn't want to go home. I knew he would go there to look for me. I'll pick up the bobby pins," she said as she started to stand up.
"You sure as hell will not," Angelica snapped," Come on let's go inside and get you cleaned up."
You followed Angelica into the living room and sat on her couch. You stared at you hands as she sat next to you and looked you over. You must have looked like a disaster, mascara running all over you face and your hair half out of the up-do Peggy had worked so hard on. You felt your bottom lip start to quiver and a familiar burn in the corners of your eyes as tears threatened to start flowing again. No... no... no more tears.
"What happened? You ran out of there so fast and did I see you slap Thomas?" Angie questioned.
"Alex was right about everything," you whispered.
"What the hell are you talking about? What do you mean Alex was right?"
"About Thomas..."
"What did I tell you about letting Alex ruin this for you girl? Thomas..."
"THOMAS DOESN'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT ME!"
Angelica jumped back slightly at your outburst. You took a shaky breath to calm yourself down.
"I heard him," you whispered, "I heard what he said to Aaron. He told... he told him that he needed to be quiet because he had worked so hard to earn my trust and then he told him that he would use me in any way that he pleased..."
Angelica gasped and wrapped her arm around your shoulders tightly as your tears started flowing again.
"I'm so stupid Angie... I just... can I stay here for awhile?"
"Consider it done. I'll go get the spare room set up and grab you some pajamas."
Angelica hurried up the stairs to find you a change of clothes leaving you to wallow in your thoughts. Your phone buzzed continuously in your bag causing you to frown as you fished it out. Texts from Alexander, Hercules, Lafayette, and Thomas were coming in over and over. Asking you what happened, asking where you had went, if you were okay, and the ones from Thomas begged you to let him explain and to answer your phone. You had ten missed calls. As you held it your phone lit up with an incoming call. Thomas. You glared at the screen and swiped to red circle and quickly shut your phone off then tossed it across the couch.
You slowly made your way up the stairs and found Angelica finishing making the bed in the spare bedroom. She looked at you and gave you a small smile, which you tried your best to return.
"Eliza is on her way home and she will most likely have Alex with her," Angie said with concern.
"I don't want to see him. I don't want to see any of them. I don't want to hear all the "I told you so's"," you said as you sat down on the bed.
"I will make sure that he leaves you alone. Here are some pajamas, just lay down and get some rest," she said as she left.
Angelica had successfully kept the boys at bay with a lot of help from Eliza. You didn't wake up until almost noon the next day. All of the crying and stress had collapsed down upon you and when you woke up your body felt stiff and heavy. Quietly you made you way across the hall into the bathroom, not wanting to alert the sisters that you were awake because you didn't feel like talking to anyone. Looking into the mirror you let out a small sigh. You had mascara smudged half way across your face, your hair was tangled and sticking out in all directions, your eyes were still red and puffy, and you knew you were going to have dark circles after scrubbing off the make up. I'm a mess.
Stepping into the shower you winced as the water stung your skin. You had turned it up higher than you usually did but your aching body needed it. The water running against your skin brought the smallest amount of relief. The lump in your throat was starting to return as you rinsed the shampoo from your hair.
"I'm not going to cry...I'm not," you whispered to yourself.
Your mantra had failed and you sank to sit in the tub and let the water wash over you. A million questions swirled in your brain.
"How could I let this happen? Damn it I promised myself I would keep my guard up..." you seethed through your tears.
You sat in silence as you thought over the events from the last three months. How did he manage to weasel his way into your heart so effortlessly. Then again this is my fault... I was the one who thought it would be funny to prove Laf wrong. Who's laughing now? That son of a bitch most likely. No matter how many times you thought over every dinner, every meeting, every text message, he had never shown a single sign. Now it was too late and the damage was done. I love him.
"I was ready... this was supposed to be it. I wanted to tell him," you sobbed.
You thought about how you had defended yourself and your relationship with Thomas to your friends. They had been so against it and angry, sure they had said they were going to give him a chance, but you knew better. I bet they can't wait to tell me how they were right about him. Alex and his smug grin he gets whenever he is right floated through your mind and it made your scowl. Alex knew you were in love with Thomas and you didn't want to think about what he might say to you now.
Thomas's voice echoed in your head, all the nice things he had ever said, his laugh, that tone he got when he was alone and only talking to you. You willed yourself to forget all the things that had seemed so sincere, all the things he had said that made your heart race. You tried to will yourself to hate him, but instead you found yourself hating how much you loved him even after what had happened.
"What do I have to do (Y/N)? How can I ever make you see?"
"You don't have anything to apologize for."
"You called me Thomas. You've never called me Thomas before."
"Listen to me, you are going to look amazing. You are the most beautiful person I've ever seen."
"Maybe I should talk to him... let him explain. No, no, no this is exactly the kind of bullshit thinking that lead me to trust him in the first place. He showed me his true colors and there isn't anything else I need to hear," you scold yourself. I love him. Loved him... no... no matter how much I try... I love him.
It had been three days and you had still refused to turn your phone on or talk to anyone except for Angelica, Eliza, and Peggy. Angie and Eliza had been doing everything they could to help comfort you. They had run off Hercules and Alexander again this afternoon. Peggy on the other hand was ready to commit homicide.
"I'm serious (Y/N) I've watch a lot of 48 Hours Hard Evidence and I'm pretty confident that I could get away with it," Peggy said between bites of ice cream.
"I don't want Thomas dead," you said quietly.
"Why? He deserves it for what he did! I can't believe him," Peggy complained.
"Because I love him Peg. Damn it.. loved him. Who was it that said I was crazy for being worried? Who was it that said Thomas would never do anything when I said I was worried? Oh that's right it was you!"
"I know and I'm sorry."
"I need to go home," you said.
"Why? I thought you wanted to stay here until you were ready."
"I need my own clothes," you mutter, "I don't really want to leave... but I need my stuff if I'm going to stay here."
"I can go get you some of your stuff," Eliza said as she came into the living room.
Eliza had been gone for almost an hour. You were beyond thankful to her for offering to go get you your things. She had taken a list your wrote out and promised to do her best to find everything. When you offered to go with her she insisted you sit back down and relax. Peggy had gotten up and headed upstairs leaving you alone in the living room. You flipped through the channels on the television and stopped on The Food Network. Masterchef was on, usually seeing one of your favorite shows would have brought a smile on your face, but not today. You frowned as memories of all the times Thomas and you had lounged on the couch and debated about the contestants. Quickly switching the t.v. off you put the remote down and crossed your arms and focused on the flames dancing in the fireplace.
"He's even ruining my favorite show," you lamented.
"Hey (Y/N) I'm back," Eliza said as she walked in pulling a rolling suitcase behind her.
"Thanks so much," you reply gratefully as you sat up.
You started digging through the bag looking for a new pair of pajama pants and Eliza slowly sank down onto the couch. There was an envelope in her hands and she looked nervous as she turned it in her hands.
"What's that?" You asked.
"It was stuck to your door when I got there," Eliza said carefully as she handed it to you.
Looking the envelope over you saw that it was blank and opened it, Thomas's handwriting was immediately recognizable. His elegant script was unmistakable as your eyes quickly scanned the beginning of the letter. The familiar lump in your throat returned as you read his plea for you to return his calls, to say anything just so he knew you were okay. He wants to know that I'm okay? How the fuck does he think I am?! The sound of paper crinkling as your hands tightened around the edges of the letter permeated the air. For the first time your despair gave way to anger as you shot off the couch and crossed the distance to the fireplace.
"(Y/N)?" Eliza questioned.
"That bastard wants to know if I'm okay? IF I'M OKAY?! HOW THE FUCK DOES HE THINK I'M GOING TO BE AFTER WHAT HAPPENED?" You shouted as you looked one last time at the letter before throwing it into the fire.
Eliza came up and stood next to you and watched as the paper curled in the flames and his carefully written words turned to ash. You trembled slightly as rage coursed through you.
"He thinks he can just write me a pretty letter and I'm going to come crawling back? Like that will erase what I heard him say..."
Eliza nodded in agreement, "I hope that he burns."
The clock showed 8:20 am when you finished getting dressed. You knew you couldn't hide forever and you had to return to class.
"I'm fine. It's going to be fine," you said to yourself.
Slowly you piled your textbooks and papers into your bag. You were forever grateful that Angelica had made sure that you knew the assignments you had missed over the last week and you were pleased that at the very least you weren't behind on homework. There was enough to worry about when you thought of returning to the university without having to be bogged down with past due work. You slipped on your flats and snagged your phone off the charger before heading down stairs.
Before you had made it halfway down the stairs you stopped when you heard Angelica's voice and she sounded irritated.
"I already told you not to come here Alex," Angelica snapped.
“I know, but I'm worried. She hasn't answered any calls or texts and now she has missed a whole week of school," Alex reasoned.
"We are all worried, but (Y/N) will come back to school when she is ready."
"At least let me see her so I can let the guys know how she is," he begged.
"I promised her that I would keep you all away..."
"It's okay Angelica," you said as you walked down the rest of the stairs.
Angelica turned around quickly and looked at the backpack in your hand and back to your face and frowned. She came over quickly and looked concerned.
"(Y/N) what are you doing?"
"I'm going to class today," you said simply and you spotted a smile spread across Alex's face.
"Are you sure? Honey it's okay to wait a bit longer. If you aren't ready, you shouldn't force yourself," she said.
You pulled her into a hug and walked towards Alex, "I'm not sure if I'm ready, but I am sure that hiding here isn't going to solve anything. I'll see you later Angie."
Alex walked beside you as you went down the street and seemed to be at war with himself trying to figure out what to say.
"So..."
"So?" You questioned without looking at him.
"How are you?"
"How do you think I am Alexander," you deadpanned.
"Do you want to talk about it?"
"Not exactly."
"Alright then..." Alexander trailed off.
Nervous energy coursed through you as you walked closer and closer to the door of your first class. Alexander hadn't left your side for the entire journey across the campus. Slowly as you walked into the classroom you were almost scared to look up at the row where you knew Thomas sat. He was always there early, being the damn over achiever that he was.
"Well at least you won't have to stress about homework," Alex said cheerfully, "You're welcome by the way."
"Oh please what do you want? A metal? We both know Eliza rode your ass about making sure to tell her what the assignments were," you groused.
"That's beside the point," he argued as he pulled out his notebooks.
As you pulled out your books you turned and threw a tentative glance over your shoulder. Thomas's desk was empty, but it didn't take you long before you made eye contact with James. He tried to give you a sympathetic look, but you only glared before willing back around. A frown marred your features as you stared at your desk and mulled over Thomas's absence, it was a relief if you were being honest, but at the same time the familiar feeling of concern was trying to weasel it's way into your head. Thomas wasn't one to miss classes, even when he was sick he was usually there looking like death warmed over. No, nope, it doesn't matter. (Y/N) pull yourself together... he just broke your heart, he doesn't deserve an ounce of your concern.
"I had to present our debate project all by myself!" Alexander ranted dramatically as you both sat at your normal lunch table with Hercules and John.
"Oh please, it's not like you don't love to show off," you scoffed earning a laugh from Herc.
"Yeah Alexander, you are basically the biggest mouth in the school, I highly doubt you had an issue debating all on your own," Herc said.
"Soooo what was the outcome of the debate?" You asked throwing Alex a look.
"I won of course."
"Then what the hell are you bitching for?"
"Because I can," Alex complained.
You rolled your eyes and dipped your fries into ketchup. Alexander spoke quickly as he gave a play by play of how the debate had gone. John shook his head as Alex waved his arms as he angrily complained about being insulted.
"Where is Thomas? I noticed he wasn't in class today," you commented absentmindedly.
Looking up from your food you saw all three men staring at you looking surprised.
"Who gives a shit," Herc bit out.
"Yeah (Y/N) why does it matter?" Alex asked.
"I don't know. I guess I was just thinking out loud..." Why did I say that?
You frowned at the fact that you couldn’t stop thinking about him after everything that had happened. In the back of your mind the phrase surfaced again, you love him. God damn it!
"Well you won't have to worry about him, " Hercules commented, "I had a little discussion with him about staying away from you if he knows what's good for him."
"Are you serious?" You snapped.
"Oh shit..." John said. "What?"
John pointed behind Alex and you felt yourself stop breathing for a moment. Thomas was standing not far off staring at the table like he had seen a ghost. James was standing next to him and looked concerned as he realized you had seen them. You tried to pull the best glare you could muster but it just wasn't working. You weren't ready. He was standing there with that magenta sweater you loved so much and sadness marred his handsome face. You felt a hand on your arm and quickly looked away and saw John holding out a napkin. Your plan to be strong had crumbled and tears were flowing freely instead of the glare you so desperately wanted to send his way.
"I need to go," you said in a rush as you grabbed all your things.
"(Y/N) wait!"
You ignored them as you rushed away from the table and towards the street to head home. You wanted to crawl into a hole and stay there. I wasn't ready... Angrily you wiped away tears as you headed towards Angelica's.
"(Y/N)!"
James's voice rang out behind you and you prayed that he was at least alone. You didn't want to face Thomas and look weak. Stopping and slowly turning around you felt a small amount of relief when you saw him by himself hurrying to catch up to you. He began to cough a bit as he finally reached you and you reached out concerned that he was going to have an attack.
"James what are you doing?"
"I... I had to talk to you," he said as he calmed his breathing.
"I don't want to hear it," you snapped and began walking again. I know it isn't his fault... but then again how the fuck can I know that he didn't know what Thomas was up too. They are best friends after all.
"Please! Please hear me out," he pleaded, "You need to talk to him! He is a wreck! I've never seen him like this..."
You felt something snap as you whipped around and shoved a finger into James's chest, "OH HE'S A WRECK? HE IS A WRECK? WHAT ABOUT ME JAMES?!"
James shrunk back slightly, "I know what he said hurt you and he is an idiot, but I think there is more to what..."
"NO! There isn't a damn thing more to what happened! I should go talk to him? I don't fucking think so."
"He is miserable. He has barely leaves his house! I don't know what to do," he said desperately.
"Well he should of fucking thought about that before he did what he did! He can go to hell! The both of you can just go to hell!" You shouted as hot new tears streamed down your face before storming away leaving James staring at the ground.
