even in plain clothes, michael can tell he’s a cop. it’s something about the way they carry themselves, he thinks. still, michael’s got the upper hand here; he always insists on dealing information face to face ( phones are too easily hacked, and he doesn’t exactly enjoy the idea of having his payment dead-dropped in the middle of the city ) and he never makes contact if he thinks they’re going to take his info, and then book him for being an escort. so he gives up the location of one of his usual haunts ( this time it’s some bar that doesn’t have anywhere near the appeal of the indie ) and tells them to keep their eyes peeled for a good time. it feels dumb, like some shitty l.a. vice knockoff, but he wants to make sure this looks like a legitimate encounter, if only to cover his own tracks. so he sidles over to the redhead and drapes an arm seductively across his shoulders, leaning in close to murmur ❝ hey baby, you looking for a good time? ❞
