May I ask for more about the dynamic between Ocean and Penny? When did they start having feelings for each other (and how did they interact before they died, and after the choir came back as ghosts)? I've never seen people shipping Jane with Ocean so this is really interesting to me and I'd love to hear more!

I think that ocean didn't really notice penny at all in her life, but the afterlife is a different story

at this point if you are familiar with this au you've probably heard me talk about the fact that ocean very much disliked penny at first. now of course she's still ocean, so she covers it up the best she can with her usual peppy attitude, but everyone can sense her distaste for penny. there's two reasons why ocean doesn't like her at first. one, the rest of the choir certainly seems to find her more interesting than ocean, and she hates that. two, she doesn't like change she doesn't have control of. meeting penny? out of her control. staying with her? pretty much out of her control.

soon enough, ocean warms up to penny. they still have their usual banter but its not to the point where ocean is losing her cool. I don't have the exact timeline.. but I'd like to think it would have been almost two years before they realize their feelings. the first person who realizes it is surprisingly ocean, and she falls hard. when they finally do get their feelings across, they don't technically do anything about it. both of them are aware that they're in a weird situation. meaning, one's dead & one's not. they show affection towards eachother, but they never make it official bc they know it will never work out.

they give me vibes of a couple who shows affection by being mean to eachother for sure lmao

This was just me enjoying the cheesy things in life haha!! Hope people like it at least a little. I may turn this into chapter things.

“yuhdoll wake up!” A familiar voice from downstairs called up. It was yuhdoll’s mother waking her up for another day of junior year and she overslept just like every day before. “You’re going to be late!” Her mom burst into her room and turned on the lights. “I’m awake mom” yuhdoll said weakly, her cheeks coated with drool. She crawls from her sheets to her closet to find something to wear. Easy enough. Black matches black, being goth was the best choice she has ever made. She puts on her fishnets and a black dress then grabs her backpack, headed off to school.

yuhdoll waited by her locker for her best friend Cherry, she was always on time and far more organized than yuhdoll could ever be. “Hey, yuhdoll!” Cherry runs up hugging her best friend tightly. “Hey.” yuhdoll says between a rip crush, and a collapsed lung. “I need to breathe.” Cherry lets go but still smiling “Oh, right! Haha sorry!” The two of them had been friends for a very long time. Since they were kids, they were basically sisters at this point. yuhdoll had a lot of friends, sure, but out of everyone at Nightstar High, she’d rather hang with Cherry. The two start walking to their first class, the rooms just across from each other. They talk about the normal things and do as friends do until they finally reach their classrooms and say goodbye to one another.

The room is quiet as the teacher speaks, yuhdoll understands none of it. She couldn’t care less about a test review, she only guessed anyway. “Homework will be graded next class so don’t forget to bring it in, i was kind enough to give you all an extra day for it.” yuhdoll checked her phone. Class was over in a minute she really spaced out, huh? The bell rings dismissing the students. “yuhdoll may you stay after for a second.” “Yes, of course, Mister Ruck” yuhdoll walks up to his desk to see what he wants. He lets out a sigh. “You’re failing pretty bad, but i found a student who is willing to help you” yuhdoll blinks in surprise. “Oh. Uh.” He pulls out her last few grades. All failing. “His name is Ginger and i expect you to be nice to him. Not saying you’re mean but you do always fight my help, I told him you were stubborn. You are both to be in this room after school today.” yuhdoll nodded and thanked him for his efforts and continued school.

The end of the school day approached and yuhdoll finishes talking to Cherry. “He got you a tutor!? I don’t even know who Ginger is.” yuhdoll shrugged putting everything not needed in her locker. “Me neither, he’s probably some grease ball. Anyway I’ll see you later.” yuhdoll then proceeds down back the hall and goes into the classroom. “Hello! You must be yuhdoll, yes?” yuhdoll looks around to see no sign of her teacher but a boy. A very pretty boy. yuhdoll feels her face get hot as she tries to speak but only trips over her words. “I’m Ginger.” He’s laughing at how embarrassed yuhdoll is just by seeing him in the room. She knows this is going to be very very troubling. How is she going to be tutored to someone who is too cute for her to even speak to?
