i’ve just started season 4 of beetlejuice and i have some thoughts.
wait, seriously, why is this season SO MUCH longer than every other season combined? what happened there?
so far these s4 episodes seem very long and very beetlejuice-centric. where is lydia? there was even an episode or two where she didn’t appear at all!! i know the show is called beetlejuice, but c’mon, it’s nothing without her!
the new intro is so cool!! wow!!
beetlejuice is calling more people “babes” and “babe” now, which i like a) because that firmly establishes that it’s just how he talks and not a nickname specifically for lydia, negating the ‘pet name’ aspect, b) he did it to men, which negates the weird sexism feeling and, depending on how you see it, adds queercoding, and c) the men in question were christopher columbus and george armstrong custer, which is ridiculously hilarious.
NEIGHBOR POLYCULE CAN STILL WIN. HERE’S HOW.
only a few eps into the season, but we’re already getting considerably more jacques screentime, and a lot of his scenes with beetlejuice feel like blatant flirting. intentional? ehhhh, but bj did jump into jacques’s arms bridal style, so who knows? then there’s the one where bj loses his feet and ginger helps him track them down. it was nice to see them properly getting along. i think it’s fun how he calls her ginge, and i like the way she says his name. the monster across the street… im still stuck on the thing where he said he liked having someone to take care of (back when he was briefly bj’s roommate).
i don’t usually ship based off vibes but neighbor polycule is beautiful. they hate him but they love him. source: my heart
