A year ago, Scott decided to learn to skateboard. It didn’t work, but he never managed to shake the habit of watching the accidentally-discovered KirasBoardingSchool videos on YouTube every time she uploaded a new one .

The day she posted that it would be her last surfing vlog for the foreseeable future, Scott figured that was that. Then again, he never had a crush on her until she was sitting in the back row of his history class

Kira waved into the camera and pulled Scott a little closer, so he was completely in view on the screen. “Guys, this is, uh, Scott. You met him in my first skating video.” It was really hard not to grin. “So, he’s the one who told me I should, uh, get a deck and learn to, learn to shred.” She tried not to giggle.

Scott did no such thing. “You’re a natural. At the deck shredding.”

“Shut. Up.” She shoved him a little, still grinning. “My next surf video will be over spring break; we’re driving down to Santa Cruz and seeing if Scott’s any better on a longboard than he is on a skateboard.”

“Doubtful, but I’ll try for you.”

“And hopefully this summer, I can make it back to Bali, show you guys Uluwatu during the dry season.” She felt giddy just thinking about it. “But here’s some footage we took at the Valley of Beacons demo last weekend. Watch it. Be in awe. Board on.”
