It feels almost silly to be wearing something so formal only to hang out at crase café. Toya went to the lengths of renting out the entire café space just for the two of them.

However, Toya left instructions for Akito to follow with a change of clothes.

Akito finds the prepared suit far too stuffy, but he would endure it for Toya. After placing his purchased box of espresso chocolate truffles on the table, Akito stirs in his seat with antsy hands.

It’s not long before Toya enters the cafe. The familiar ring causes Akito to perk up and offer Toya an awkward wave. Toya’s outfit matches Akito’s in motif and color, but he wears a hat on his head and his box of chocolates seems to be close enough as a professional’s.

Knowing Toya, though, it’s definitely homemade. Akito regrets that he didn’t make his chocolate by himself, but there’s always White Day next month.

Toya sits in the seat across from Akito and beams at him. “Happy Valentine’s Day, Akito. I can’t express my gratitude enough in words, but I always want you to know how important you are to me. Please accept this.” He holds his box up to Akito.

“You��re always so formal,” Akito laughs, but he takes it almost too eagerly. “Thanks, Toya. These homemade?”

“Yes, but please be assured that they are in prime condition.” Toya nods with a reassuring smile.

“Truthfully, it’s thanks to KAITO-san and the others for helping me make the best chocolate for the best partner, but think of it as a collective effort on everyone’s part.”

“Geez, now you make me feel lame that I just bought you some from the store…”

Akito clears his throat, trying his best to maintain eye contact. “Well, it’s still from a fancy chocolate store, so I guess that makes up for it.”

“Of course it does, Akito.” Toya smiles as Akito takes his chocolate. Akito slides his store bought box over to Toya in exchange. On the count of three, both of them tug at the ribbon and unravel their respective gift boxes. Eyes on both sides glint at the contents.

“Just checking, but…” Akito begins as he picks up one of the pieces of chocolate in his hand.

He rotates it between two fingers, inspecting it and all of its details. He takes a bite of it, letting the chocolate and orange filling melt onto his tongue. “Are these obligatory chocolates?”

Toya picks up a chocolate of his own, nodding at the aroma and reveling in the cocoa powder dusting his finger tips. “Akito, you know those aren’t obligatory chocolates. Unless you mean…?”

“Of course not! True feelings and all… well, thanks, Toya. This is super good.”

Akito finishes it off and licks his fingers. “I’ll return the favor on White Day… a whole lot more. Watch out.”

“Me too, Akito. I’ll make sure to make something even better.” Toya nods with some sort of new resolve in his eyes.

Akito shakes his head with a huff. “Just buy something, seriously. I can’t let you show me up next time…”

Toya laughs, popping his truffle into his mouth. After a thoughtful chew and a hum of delight, Toya smiles. “No promises.”

Lout of the Count's Family Zine - Sample #1: French… Toast?

Hope everyone's doing well! This post is to promote a pay-what-you-want charity zine related to Team One from the webnovel/manhwa Lout of the Count's Family I had the pleasure to write some pieces for. Please check it out!

Sunlight filters through translucent white curtains, landing softly on the features of Kim Roksu as he snores softly under his fluffy white duvet. As the rays of light scatter over his face, Roksu’s eyes twitch and he groans as the light gets brighter. After tossing and turning around in the bed, Roksu begrudgingly gets up, taking a long stretch while letting out a loud yawn. As much as he didn’t want it, all the years of fighting had trained him to wake at the slightest light or sound.

“Damn… I wanted to slack off today too…” he grumbles, slowly getting out of bed to get ready for the day.

It is a rare “day off” for him. Monsters have not attacked for a couple of days, so although everyone is still on high alert, some people have decided to take some time to rest and recover. This includes taking inventory of available supplies and rebuilding the shelters.

Today, Roksu was planning on sleeping the day away, maybe eating something later, but the sun urges him to be awake and to DO something. So, he heads down the stairs of his house towards the kitchen.

It has been several days since Roksu, Jeongsu, and Suhyeok purchased this house in a partially remote area. The property is a two-story house with a small garden (“But someday it’ll be a big orchard!” said Jeongsu) and some additional unused land. It’s close enough to get to the other shelters quickly, but far enough from where normal citizens live so the three won’t be disturbed often.

Upon entering the kitchen and dining area, Roksu deadpans at the sight in front of him. Just like him, Jeongsu and Suhyeok are wide awake and chattering quietly about what they should have for breakfast. Hearing Roksu’s shuffling, Jeongsu stops talking and turns to look at Roksu.

“Oh, you’re awake! Finally, we were about to come upstairs and ask if you could make us something.”

“Why me?” grumbles Roksu even though he proceeds to go into the kitchen to grab and put on a pink frilly apron (a gift from Suhyeok) from the long cabinet next to the kitchen sink.

“Well, you do cook the best meals out of the three of us,” says Suhyeok playfully. 

“Oh, but we were wondering if you could make us something other than Korean food this time?” asks Jeongsu. “I watched some mukbang videos last night and someone was eating French toast with fruit and some sunny-side-up eggs, so I woke up craving some today,” he says as he gets up to grab some orange juice from the fridge.

“...Fine,” sighs Roksu, and he gets to work.

Jeongsu and Suhyeok marvel at how Roksu handles the eggs as Roksu quickly mixes them together. He then quickly slices thick cuts of bread, dipping the slices into the egg mixture before setting them aside on a plate next to the cutting board. 

Thinking that he is going to cook well, Jeongsu and Suhyeok stop paying attention to Roksu and continue talking about plans to add fruit trees and vegetables to their garden.

All is peaceful, until suddenly Suhyeok stops mid-conversation at the smell of something… burning???

Sailor Moon is my first fandom and I've been active in it since around 1995/96. I've probably been sharing fanart and fic for just as long, much to my dismay when moving fic from ff.net to AO3.

What type(s) of creative works do you usually make? (fanfics, digital art, cosplay)

Digital art with the very occasional fic.

What do you enjoy about creating for the SM fandom?

Everyone gets the in jokes, I don't have to explain why I draw green jackets on screencaps (hi I'm @mamorusgreenjacket).

Are you strictly UsaMamo or do you create for other pairings as well?

I'm actually not a shipper (though I have preferences), the majority of my pairing pieces are gifts or project work.

What inspires you to create works for Usagi and Mamoru?

They best fit the concept of what has inspired me or someone asked for it.

Do you tend to work on multiple projects (WIPs) simultaneously or try to finish one at a time?

First rule about WIPs, we do not discuss how may WIPs! Second rule about WIPs, no really I have to use a management program for my projects and ideas I don't want to forget. ;-;

Do you prefer large projects (chaptered fics, webtoons/zines, highly detailed art) or small projects (one-shots or simple art)?

Simple art and one shots, but I'm pushing myself to do more intricate drawings with backgrounds. I've had this multi-chapter UsaMamo yakuza fic outlined in my drafts for years.

Are there any common themes, situations, tropes, or mediums in your work?

SPARKLES. Also a lot of orange and pink circle backgrounds because I hate drawing backgrounds. :< For fic it's usually comedy and angst centered around a singular idea.

Is there anything you haven’t explored artistically and would like to try?

There are so many traditional arts and craft work I would love to do, but then my home would turn into a craft warehouse.

1• Neito found out that he SemiPerma copies Quirks via Blood through accidentally drinking Himiko's Thermos. But he needs a fixed diet from people so he doesn't get overwhelmed

2• First time Izuku saw Shigaraki he actually had his costume on. Shigaraki sees this Spiked Leather bound kid crack his knuckles and grab a Red oak Bo Staff. Later along with the gun wounds he nurses a broken jaw and a new scar on his face from the nasty lil green punk.

3• Izuku has chains on his Hero outfit, They work extremely well as Capture Weapons.

4• Mr Compress and Twice are absolutely Terrified of Izuku after the Yakuza Arc

5• Dabi has a YouTube channel that actually pretty popular where he dances. Mina is a *Massive* Fan and Squealed when he showed up at dorms as the Midoriya Bodyguard

Borealll here, my fav au humm, i adore bav au but! my favorite to gnaw on is Black Nightshade au! so...

One, it is very clear that the second pair of arms Izuku posses is stapled into him, specially since the skin tone have a contrast between the arms and his own face.

Two, here, it is an unfortunate necessary step for the subject to die for the noumu process to take hold, and it is fortunate that the non-sentient don't remember such great pain.

Three, Bakugou still have gone overboard in the exercise of heroics, rumour has it there was even an expulsion involved.

Four, Incredible as that may sound, Afo has no idea of things brewing under Izuku mind and that things might connect them even more...

Five, Toshinori is a bit touch starved, and also gives the best fucking hugs, it does not compare, he is warm and soft of course they are the best, and of course few people right now know that.

Hi it’s Kiwi. Don’t have a favorite au really but the one I have the most brain worms about right now is the Pokémon au so let’s talk about that! (Also if you guess an OFA User’s Pokémon for their gym in the ask I’ll give 5 more headcanons)

1. Izuku and Bakugou’s starters are Larvesta and Buneary respectively. Larvesta was a gift from Izuku’s dad because Hisashi knows that Izuku will become an menace and get bored eventually if he gets a regular starter. Buneary was just found near Yagi’s lab trying to fight the man’s Pokemon and Bakugou pointed at it and says he wants that one as his starter and then caught it.

2. Aizawa is the Ghost Type Gym Leader. He does not advertise this and the only person who really knows this is Shinsou. Lovely surprise for the kids when he gets “kidnapped” by his Drifblim in the Ghost Type Gym.

3. Kaminari and Dabi had Rotom phones before said Rotom just turned into a regular on their team. Kaminari’s is called Nokia and both of them have the lovely habit of having 999 tabs open at all times and are dorks. Dabi’s is called Budget and blew up his phone when it decided they want to battle now and keeps on insulting Dabi and blowing up all phones he tries to get Budget in.

4. Hagakure, Ashido, and Aoyama are going on their Pokémon journey to complete Pokémon Contests across the region. They all give each other tips and try to be the best Contest Performer they can be.

5. The Elemental Plates to summon Arceus are with all the Gym Leaders of their respective type. They are all kept in separate places and more often than not the Gym Leaders don’t have it on them. This makes the fact that 7 gym leaders got kidnapped a lot more concerning.

anterior! umm as of right now my favorite au is either WitS(Wonder in the Stars) or TLVC(Tanuki Leaves and Violet Clouds) but ive already done one of these for WitS so TLVC it is!

-sako has this habit of spinning his cane around like one spins and umbrella, oboro thinks its really cool but sako barely realizes he's doing it

-oboro has two cats one orange cat named sushi and one black cat named coal, if coal and sako were to ever meet coal would try to lay on his cape no matter how many times sako tells her not to

-shouta and hizashi are sick and tired of hearing oboro go on and on about how cool he thinks tanuki is, but they let him because well its really really funny to see people who dont know about oboro's "obsession" with tanuki walk up to them and ask what they're talking about

-sako has shelves of glass jars that are just full of nomu's that he's marbled, the jars are like mason jars and thus aren't huge but hes got like multiple shevles of nomu jars, everyday he thinks about getting rid of them and every day he reminds himself that if he does they'll cause way more problems(he wants to get rid of them, so so badly)

-shouta has nightmares about oboro never being saved from that nomu lab

and this headcanon applies to sako in bout all our aus

-sako really likes oreos, he has like a pack of them in a marble to carry around so he can share with people he befriends

11. if you're a writer or artist, what fic or piece of art are you proud of making?

Definitely Briar Rose Syndrome. While Technically Long Night was my first completed long fic, brs was the one I fleshed out and worked on the longest. The outline alone is like 44+ pages bc of all the planning I put into it lol It had so much of what I love in a story put into it too, circular ending where the home the characters return to is the same but they've changed over the journey, whump/hurt/comfort, fun action, and battle couple amairin (+ meph) pining for 150k words lol

13. your favorite type of fandom event (gift exchange, ship week, secret santa, prompt meme, etc)

I've been enjoying DTIYS and challenge/prompt lists. It's nice bc it gives me more freedom to do what I want instead of being controlled like a Big Bang or Zine. I'm usually not able to do week/month events bc I cannot be consistent to save my life lmao

16. a tiny detail in canon that you want more people to appreciate.

How cool the demons in aoex are!!! Like all the characters in aoex are well done, but the demons and how inhuman/eldritch they are, along with the blue-orange mentality they view humans thru is the biggest thing that drew me to the series in the first place and has kept me coming back. For some reason tho, it seems like the aoex fandom mostly focuses on the human characters/exwires, and they're secondary to me lol I would kill for more ppl creating art/fic for the demons so it's not just me and 3 other ppl tossing stuff around like a hot potato lol

20. your very first fandom!

Yu Yu Hakusho was my first love and the one that got me reading fic in the first place, even tho I'd been watching DBZ, Inuyasha, and Sailor Moon already. I wasn't really active in fandom like I am for aoex tho. I wrote fic, responded and left reviews, and made the occasional comment on art, but I didn't make any friends or start conversations with ppl in fandom. It wasn't until ppl in the aoex fandom reached out to me thru tumblr and we started talking/joining the discord servers that I got more involved.

Life is Strange

Based on the video game Life is Strange 2.

Project Statement:

I retold the story from my favorite video game Life is Strange 2. I want the pictures too look like stills from a movie. Most of the time in this project I was traveling and looking for places to shoot at and I knew that I can't control each scene but I made the best of it. I went with a more yellow/orange tint for my photos just as a theme for this project. I also incorporated photos of a 'first-person view' of what the character is seeing throughout the story.

A story of a young man who got stereotyped just because of the color of his skin and is now on the run to where he knows he belongs. Back home.

All the characters and stories in here are fiction. Any similarities with real life is purely coincidental.

Part 1

When my dad died, he prepared a gift for me when I turned 17 and I just couldn't wait another day to open what he had for me.

All that changed when I overheard my neighbor and a cop outside my house saying that I'm illegal and that I'm the suspect of thief and murder they are trying to catch for weeks now. I was so scared. I had to run.

It's been a day of walking and I don't really know where I am anymore. It's my birthday and I am on the run.

I stopped at a gas station just hoping the news hasn't reached here just yet. I met Brandon who is a travelling journalist for online zines. He's been on the road for forever. He drove me west since he said he's headed there anyways. Before we parted, he told me that he knew my story and that it is starting to circulate the internet so he told me to be careful. He dropped me off a motel along with some cash and some gear for on the road.

Sunsets are beautiful. But right now, all that it is reminding me of is that all good things end at some point.

I slept like a log but I had to catch the earliest bus ride to... somewhere I guess. I think I know where to go and hopefully it works out.

I've always wanted to travel, but not in this condition. I'll take what I can get I guess.

It feels like forever since I've been to my best friend's house. If there's anyone left that I can trust, I know that he is one of them, if not the only one left.

Extremely excited to finally show my full piece for “Gift Orange Zine”, a fan Trigun charity project zine shared on Twitter and Bluesky to raise founds for families who couldn’t afford gifts for this holiday season.🧡

It was really fun to partecipate along so many talented people and contribute to do something really precious all together!

The idea for my work was to keep it simple, an illustration that could appear coming straight out of a children’s book.

Cress was returning from her meeting with Link, which had gone swimmingly well, as far as settling scores could go. Her brooch had long been gifted, for whatever good it might do Twelve -- either for the stone's properties or the implication of Cress' support as Hestia approached sponsors. For all intents and purposes, it had been a successful morning -- so why was she so preoccupied? Her mind elsewhere, twelve stories up in the room on the back right, sitting by lamplight amidst a spread of zines? She had hoped to see him here, but that was foolish -- given what she now understood of Slate, he wasn't interested in the fanfare and festivities.

"Ah, then we're allies today," Cress teased, lifting a blue poppy from a table centerpiece, shaking the water from the stem before weaving it into her bun. She'd match Rio now, wherever he was. "It's smart to have Ren searching," the screen changed, and they watched Sawyer scale the flagpole, toward the mangled body hanging at its top. "If they're quick, quiet, and careful, they might be able to snatch the flag without the orange team even noticing. Do you think they'll realize that one's a decoy?"

Harlow had slipped into the viewing room only a few moments before Cress had, taking in the sight of the brunch set up and the clear allegiances of the audience in attendance. She was debating whether to find a spot in the back to sit and watch the events of the day-- which was apparently a game called 'Capture the Flag'-- or find another viewing room that wasn't so... festive.

But Cress had spoken up behind her and Harlow sidestepped to let the other Victor into the room. "Looks that way," she teased with a small chuckle. Her brow rose at the inquiry before Harlow spared a glance toward the screen, "Well, Ren's team is blue, so that's me. How about you?"

For the first time in a long while, I got to go to a white elephant gift exchange this December! We had a low price ceiling and my practically wins out over any practical joke sensibilities every time, so on the designated shopping day I left my local overstock store with a nice chopstick set, some fancy (not at all mess-free) popcorn, and a dream.

When I was growing up, my mom was an intrepid homeschooling parent who loved event planning, valued cultural exploration, and had married into a Japanese family. Multiple times - sometimes in the setting of a multicultural fair, at least once as a kind of class party (with celebratory takeout at the end) - she faced teaching large groups of children how to use chopsticks quickly and with as little cost and cleanup as possible.

Her answer was popcorn! It's edible, so you get the full motion down, and lightweight but large enough for less coordinated sticks to pinch. It has tons of nubbins to grab and widely varied shapes to experiment with. Specifically, we used air-popped kernels, without oil or toppings, so when it gets overzealously crushed or bounces away and gets missed by a broom, it's basically biodegradable styrofoam.

What I'm saying is, this is my mom's fault. Other than the choice to draw so many hands in one afternoon on the same day as the party, while also baking a snack. That's all me. This primer was delivered in the format of a tiny booklet (if you look up an "eight page zine" that's also a method I learned from my mom, to turn single-sided misprints into notepads), with fewer jokes and tips than I'd have liked because I simply did not have time to transcribe a hashi rest fold or hairstyle. But reformatted (for Mastodon) it looks fairly respectable.

Next is the first spread of four illustrations with their instructions. On the left half of page are two line drawings of a right hand holding one and then two chopsticks, with the text, "The first stick rests on the side of your ring finger's nail and the flesh between your thumb and index finger. Your middle finger's pad holds it securely while it can slide against your thumb as your hand changes posture in use. The second stick is held between the knuckle of your thumb and the middle section of your index finger. This is the one you move to change angles; it may touch but doesn't really rest on the middle finger's tip." In orange, two arrows indicate the rest points for the first stick while small hashes emanate from the points pressed on the middle and ring fingertips and under the thumb's joint holding the top stick. On the right upper quadrant of the page is the text "Hold them close to parallel to scoop." A hand holds two sticks poked into a bowl of rice between the viewer and the palm; a series of parallel orange lines emphasize the space between the sticks. The remaining quadrant's text reads, "Press with your index finger to pinch firmly."
