Ok I watched the Caribert quest with a fresher mind (yes it takes weeks to refresh my mind), and now I have additional thoughts from my scrambled egg brain:

- The Caribert is Kaeya theory was honestly a genuinely good idea for a moment due to curious text lines... I only doubt it due to different voice actors for Kaeya's father and Clothar Alberich. For the most part, a solid theory if we can ignore the voice actor tidbit. Otherwise, I think he is from Clothar's legitimate line or Clothar has a brother or two (based on who he was inspired by)

- the Khaenri'ahn library honestly feels like the Library of Alexandria at this point. This is the same library that apparently had the information Clothar needed to try and cure Caribert. Also, in the beginning of the quest, Kaeya mentions a book he read in his youth that mentioned where Khaenri'ah (or one of the entry points anyway) is located which I guess is probably not found within the Ragnvindr collection because he mentioned himself that he had just been taken in. Imagine the centuries of information they must have had to become the most advanced nation of their time (and even now). With Khaenri'ah gone, 90% of that library's information is probably destroyed. That definitely set back the entirety of Teyvat lmao

- I think I mentioned in a previous post how curious it is that people of Teyvat don't know that Khaenri'ahns (non-full blooded ones anyway) were turned into hilichurls. When was the Caribert quest set though? Because the forest rangers there didn't know about it at all, and if transforming into hilichurls was a slow process, the lack of information these people have is weird... unless everyone who transformed only transformed during the war in Khaenri'ah, which is why Clothar was telling Caribert "no more red skies, no more war"

- speaking of those forest rangers... the way they talk about hilichurls left a bad taste in my mouth. I have the feeling that the Knights of Favonius also have several knights talk like that....... and Kaeya has to hear that regularly...he has been for nearly a decade.......

- For the abyss twin to be called the Prince/Princess of Khaenri'ah, they must have been taken in by Alberich clan right? I wanted to say King Irmin took them in, but then I wondered why they didnt become the king/queen themselves and instead got the Alberich clan to be regents. The Alberich clan was far larger than I think it was (its probably a very large family for sure if Clothar can say that it's impossible for our twin to know everyone even though Clothar is an Alberich himself). Our twin never became the king/queen so our twin being adopted by the Alberichs sound more likely (Kaeya calling our twin uncle/aunt, could yall imagine? Or even brother/sister... Kaeya calling them gramps/grandma HAHAHA)

- Even within the abyss order, they can't call our twin the king/queen. Dainsleif mentioned there's an order to these things, and since an Alberich was the founder... by heir right, should there be no other Alberich, that would really mean that Kaeya is their next king. Yikes, I'd get drunk daily too if i were him.

I think I have a theory forming within my brain regarding the crystal the hilichurls were worshipping... but thats for next time.

thinking about kaeya returning to mondstadt after his mission in sumeru and that night he goes to angel's share and diluc is bartending there and it's so obvious that something is off with kaeya but diluc ofc doesn't say anything bc like. how would he even start that conversation?

"hello estranged brother, i know you're partially inebriated at the moment, but something is clearly off about you please tell me what it is"

so he doesn't say anything

and kaeya just keeps absentmindedly drinking (and maybe he drank a bit before he arrived at angel's share too) and it's enough to make even him wasted

and he's slumped onto the counter, finger trailing around the rim of the glass diluc had long since refused to refill. the tavern is empty except for the two of them, and diluc has begun to clean up when kaeya says

"alberich is the last name of the man who runs the abyss order"

and diluc just. freezes.

kaeya lets out a hoarse laugh, and the glass falls over onto the counter.

diluc walks over, carefully turning to see kaeya's face, and his expression is completely blank, zoned out.

it ends with diluc taking kaeya to his house and making sure he gets in bed and falls asleep and then diluc leaves a little note that says something like

"K,

I walked you home and cleaned up some of the wine bottles laying around. Please try not to drink before you come to the tavern.

You told me about the heritage of your name last. That isn't something that I relate to your person.

Rukkhadevata and Barbatos were Irminsul protectors-bros theory

(Sumeru and Barbatos connections part 1)

The more lore we get, the more connection I see between Sumeru, Dendro archon, memories, Irminsul, hexenzirkel and Barbatos (you are everywhere dude you are so sus i just can’t). And I just want to share with my thoughts, so welcome to my Genshin TED talks or whatever.

Long story short, I believe that Rukkhadevata ( I will use Rukkha after) and Barbatos were really good friends and they protected Irminsul and memories of Teyvat together.

Firstly: Venti voice over about Buer.

“The first thing you think of when you hear “Dendro archon” is her power over dreams. Her dreams are akin to my ballads: full of emotions and imagination. It goes without saying that we get along really well.”

Since Nahida and Venti haven’t met yet canonically, I presume that he is talking about his relationships with Dendro archon in the past, before the cataclysm. And I believe by “Dendro archon” he means specifically Greater Lord Rukkhadevata ( he remembers her for sure I just know it okay).

Secondly: Rukkha and Barbatos have pretty much in common.

They are people who value emotions and creativity and they also are responsible for “defending” memories.

Rukkha is the avatar of Irminsul ( and Irminsul is a “sacred pillar” which is super important in GERMANIC mythology, which is again connected with Mondstadt and Khaenri’ah) and she can find and erase memories and information in Irminsul.

And Venti is a bard - he collects stories/legends and puts people's names in history, so they will be remembered by the world.

In 3.3 we saw that Irminsul can delete information in teyvat, but memories still can be saved with fairytales or any other “poetic/cryptic way”.

And as i can feel - Rukkha is like a giant computer, who collects all of knowledge, information and memories. And Barbatos is someone, who saves this information (or at least part of it) and recalls it in case of emergency. He is like a 1 mln+ GB memory card.

And now, in windblume festival 3.5. We have learned more about hexenzirkel ( The organization which explores Irminsul) and their connection with Barbatos and Mondstadt.

There is NO WAY that Venti is NOT connected wit Rukkhadevata and Irminsul.

there are few things from the 3.5 windblume that i adore but one of them will always be amber’s characterization. i wish she was in it more but goddd the way they write her is so soooo meaningful for collei and their friendship

Ok but now that we know the origin of the different courses that people from Khaenri'ah are suffering from, I'm almost certain the Archons have nothing to do with it. Like it shows how the gods went out of their way to curse their own citizens/their children just because they left the seven nations? It doesn't really sound like something any of the gods we know of would do, especially Venti and Nahida. Barbatos is literally the god of freedom but he would cast such a petty curse on Mondstadt people only because they don't really worship him? I don't think so. And the Greater Lord, being a past incarnation of Nahida, I think she would have a similar view of humans as Nahida herself, and Kusanali kept looking after her people even after they put her in a cage for 500 years! If she was still trying to help little children stuck in bed after being jailed, hated and forgotten by her own country, a few people moving out from Sumeru would likely be forgiven too.

Seems unlikely that any of the Archons we know of, including Zhongli and Makoto, would allow or support something like the immortal curse on the pure blood people of Khaenri'ah, but the idea of the "curse of the wilderness" existing for the children of their own people would probably be met with incredible opposition. So either they didn't know, or the curses are nothing more than unforseen side effects of whatever the gods used to stop Khaenri'ah.

Ok here it goes-

Kaeya hopping onto a caravan to get to Sumeru as a kid is simultaneously the funniest and saddest thing ever.

Could you all imagine the chaos once the Ragnvindrs realized child Kaeya is missing? I could just imagine Diluc crying loudly about losing Kaeya while Crepus panics and half yells at his staff and the knights about looking for him.

And the moment Crepus sees Kaeya again, he pulls him by the ear!! Because how dare this child give him the heart attack of the century! The nerve of this child to give him gray hairs!! Absolutely comedic!

But the fact that Kaeya did it because he wants to learn more about his heritage hurts. He barely knows anything (and even if he does know a lot, he feels as if he is missing large amounts of context anyway). No wonder he hid that one piece of paper about information on their clan. He's clinging to what is left over for him.

I don't fully trust the idea that his father left him in Mondstat just to live a better life at all. As sweet as it may be, I actually think that's just Kaeya's hopeful thinking. That's why he "thinks he made a clean break with his past". His mind tells him that he probably has nothing that Khaenri'ah or the abyss order might want. A reasonable conclusion because they haven't contacted him- in fact, he was the one doing the interrogating.

That makes me nervous for him though...

Even if it is to free him from his history who tf leaves a child in one of the strongest storms (where he almost dies in), tells him that he will be a spy for Khaenri'ah, and gives him the pressure of being their "only hope"?! Damn dude, if you really want to give him a better life maybe don't give him a last minute multiple trauma gift.

Dain probably crumpled a bit of Kaeya's said hope by straight up mentioning that Kaeya is a descendant of the Abyss Order's founders (I knew the Alberich last name had a damn purpose! Being the birthright successor to the Abyss Order is a big deal and literally a power move! Names have power!!!)

(((Random thought but I wonder if Kaeya could start his own faction- an alternate Abyss Order where he leads as the birthright heir where they go against the Abyss twin near the end? It would be a major decision to lead the order after all, he would have to leave Mond for it, and I'm sure that Dain would prefer to side with him on this one if it is a faction made to counteract the Abyss twin's actions)))

His heritage being such a big deal that they had to mention it in an Archon quest is very iconic for his 4-star starter character ass. They had to make sure everyone knows about it and now Kaeya's lore is gonna get more speculations and scrutiny. Good. I'd still argue that he has one of the best lore in the game- easily in the top 5.

Final thoughts for now, but Dainkae having that enemies to friends to lovers energy is very funny to me. Kaeya asking Dain to go drinking with him someday is *chefs kiss*. Dain is right to be wary of Kaeya though. The fact that Kaeya felt him watching is definitely telling of how perceptive Kaeya is (reminds me of the cutscene where Diluc is introduced, and when Diluc attacked from behind him, Kaeya didn't even flinch). Dain probably realized that Kaeya also purposely avoided him in Mondstat as well since Kaeya knew of him ( I don't think Dain would avoid someone who is blatantly using "Alberich" as a lastname).

Oh wait! One more thing! But is Kaeya actually immortal? (where they stop aging once they reach a certain age) or is he only half-Khaenriahn? (if so, why wasnt he turned into a hilichurl? Do they get a free pass?...but so far, he is the only regularly aging Khaenri'ahn we've met...)

I knew that the more lore drop he gets the more questions will be added. damn.

!! SPOILERS FOR CARIBERT ARCHON QUEST UNDER THE CUT !!

okay so i did all of it in one go the SECOND the update dropped and first of all???? kaeya actually being somewhat open about his past at dawn winery and talking about sneaking off to sumeru to see if he could find anything about Khaenri'ah,,,

part of me wonders if he was trying to find his way home. that was my first thought, at least

either that or he could've just wanted to investigate the possible remnants of his homeland

also the mental image of crepus traveling to sumeru to drag kaeya back to dawn winery is SO funny omg

anyway. this confirms that as a kid, kaeya was great at hiding and going unnoticed (for a short period of time, at least)

he described it as a "short-lived adventure" as if it was just something he did for fun, but i feel like it was more of a "i don't know where my father went after leaving me here and i know i can't ask for help from anyone around me so i'm going to take matters into my own (tiny) hands and try and get home/learn about home"

also, on that note, kaeya knowing khaenri'ah is near sumeru is...interesting

honestly, just the location is interesting to me

sumeru is, for the most part, surrounded by other nations (liyue, natlan, maybe fontaine? idk i'd need to look at a map) so unless khaenri'ah is west of sumeru, it's somewhat central to the other nations and has gone completely unnoticed since it was destroyed

anyway, back to talking about kaeya

in the weinlesefest, we heard kaeya's father's voice for the first time, and it was the line about kaeya being their nations only hope. however, i guess that line doesn't really affect kaeya in the way we thought it did. while we assumed he was always being torn between mondstadt and khaenri'ah, he was actually starting to think that his father left him there for his own good

honestly, healthy mindset there, king!

anyway after that he says "A happy life sounds good to me, of course. Even if it means being cut off from... certain things."

king. hey. are you talking about being cut off from your birthplace or being disowned by diluc; you gotta give me some direction here. personally, i'm going to assume he's talking about diluc now

kaeya had a very happy life when he was with crepus and diluc, and maybe he's including other people's happiness in his definition of a happy life. he's a people pleaser--if others are happy, so am i--and he thinks diluc is happier without kaeya

also him just saying that alberich is his surname makes me :(

like. listen. i know diluc disowned him so he cant really use the surname ragnvinder. but like cmon :(

and him saying his surname is "probably" the only link to khaenri'ah he has left,,, very interesting
