Ghost in the graveyard au

inspired by this song.

Nightmare is a little ghost that lives in the cemetery just outside of town. tends too stay in the older part which has been basically turned into a forest. he can't leave the cemetery nor can most people see him other than just glimpses out of the corner of their eyes. Enough though that he is a bit of a local legend. since he isn't from this au no one really knows who he is or was. he's haunted the cemetery for several centuries.

eventually Dust ends up finding Him. Dust can see Nightmare easily, he would hang out in the graveyard because it is very quiet and quite peaceful. the forest area is also very pretty.

For Dust it's almost like having his brother back And for nightmare he gets an older brother figure and friend.

The rest of the gang's there too. Killer has his priorities. The gang was each offered this place too live if they promised too try and be better. (also Blue had promised too get supplies to horrortale). So now Horror, Dust, and Killer live in this house in a small (ish) town in an au where monsters where never sent underground and things where pretty peaceful. a regular surface au would still have humans getting used too monsters. And with a group such as the gang that might not end well for either party. they also get therapy so yay :D plus Killer discovers the wonders of mariokart.

An idea about SBI living in kind of a mansion

They are known by the entire town just next to them but none of the habitants actually know who (or what) they actually are. They only have rumors circulating around (some says that they are maybe cursed as well)

It’s only a few years later, after the strange family’s arrival that a group of teens/young adults decide to get to know them, which was a harder task than what it should normally be

i’ll name it Ghosty Bois Family AU for now

I have way too many twst AUs... This Idea is from Past!Au, for example.

The main idea is "what if twst cast lived a few centures earlier?". The potion for mers to become humans is not yet invented - but a trio of a very dedicated (and trustworthy ;)) mers is working on it. The human-fae conflict is ongoing. The Shroud family is not yet cursed at the beginning of the story, but (spoilers heh) at the end of it Idia, as the last heir to his family, is cursed by Jupiter family and sentenced to death (because plot). That's the Idia you see at the picture — prior to curse his hair is black.

Thankfully, the three mermen (I wonder who those are...) have found a way to turn into humans thanks to Yuu's help, and in return for their service, those mers grant Yuu's wish to save Idia from execution. Honestly, this whole AU is self-indulgent hot mess, but I enjoyed thinking about it. Maybe I'll do it again in the future.

I saw someone ( @paprikko-lol ) do an au where morro and nya were like halves of wojira or some shit. Anyway have some storm cousins. Essentially Nya goes to benthomar for help and they’re able to use wojira’s sea amulet to give her a merlopian body(plus part dragon cuz I headcanon that Kai and Nya are descendants of dragons). And because morro’s soul dissolved into the sea, he ended up merging with the storm amulet and was given a keeper (aka Kojira,(not so) fun fact: they’re literally just called Keepers in canon) form.

Oh and I definitely revel in the fact that technically Nya is a topless transfem demi girl. And it can’t be considered nudity cuz she has no nipples HA! But yeah, gills on the ribs is my favorite thing.

Everything else is just a drawing of everyone coping with different forms of disassociation, from being a ghost, the full fucking ocean, and an evil dictator. Oh and there’s CJ “baby wu” taking a nap on his previous life’s sons reanimated form, turned his young uncle (Morro is essentially 17 here)

I’ll eventually get around to translating my handwriting, but my elbow is fucking killing me. Carpal tunnel fucking sucks

good gosh I have too many of these.

but the main premise of this one is, people have to be dead for a certain period of time before they can turn into ghosts. Which is why Tommy didn’t turn into a ghost when Dream killed him in the prison (in cannon.) But! In this au Dream goofed up and waited too long to revive Tommy (Y’know just trying to make Tommy’s life as miserable as possible) and before Dream could revive Tommy his spirit said “nope I’m outta here” and scooted on out. And Dream, needs Tommy’s spirit to revive him, not just his body. Tommy spawns in the nether, because of his near death experiences there and just because of his trauma there. Ghostbur (since at this point he’s still alive) goes to the nether to go to Technos house, but he stumbles on Tommy.

I plan on making a comic maybe? Idk, I think it would be fun but we’ll see if I’ve got the motivation lol

It Was Just The Wind

(the bats get a helping hand from a dead bird. Who never really came all the way back.)

When Jason woke up -it was dark- he didn't know where he was --what happened?--

It was so Dark. --Everything was Numb.--

He sat up. Stood up. And passed straight through the ground. The ground??

What?

He stood eye level with the grass. That definitely wasn't right.

Then the memories came flooding back to him. ---Bruce -- Fighting -- Sheila -- Joker --PAIN -- Death -- Nothingness---

So. Apparently ghosts existed. Neat. Apparently he was a ghost. No so neat. Where to go from here. He looks - around? Jason suppose the first step would be to get his feet to ground level. He tries, at first, pulling himself up with his hands, and that just sends him flying forward in a loop of forward rolls. So he tries again. And again. Then he decides that this is definitely not working, so he tries something different and sort of swims- SWIMS - though the air. It works, sort of, and he hangs still in the air, a few feet away from a grave stone, emblazoned with his name. Oh. Well. That makes sense, he supposes. As much as this can make sense. He look around the graveyard, because that's where he is. A graveyard, for dead people. Damn. And - oh.

There, on the grave next to his, is his Egg Donors name. He was - Bruce had- She-

Everything goes white.

The sky is lighter, when he starts being able to see again. When he calms down from - what ever that was. He doesn't think he can even begin to describe what he felt when he saw that - that bitches- name. He was buried next to the woman who had..had helped kill him. Kill him. Because - because he was dead.

Jason wanders, for a while. Walks, or really, he floats, drifts, though the dark streets of his home city. Tries his best to wrap his head around what the hell is going on. It gets dark again, while he's definitely not paying attention to anything other than the feeling of phasing straight through buildings and street signs and lampposts, of being entirely unseen. The sky darkens, and then it's night.

The bat signal lights up the sky. Jason stares up at it for a while, before something - some emotion- builds up, and he thinks to himself 'Bruce - Batman - Surely he can figure this out?' And he starts out in the direction of the manor before pausing. Because he sees a shadow land on the roof a block down. Then - then a smaller figure lands behind him. And - he float-drifts closer. Thats a Robin, he thinks to himself.

Everything goes white.

It takes a while for Jason to get used to this new future he seems to have woken up in. He goes to check on the manor, eventually - Bruce is a mess, Alfred is quiet in a way that's just - wrong. The new kid - the new robin - goes back to an empty mansion a few miles away every night. He's only seen Dick twice, and he's been.. strange, lifeless. It's all so strange.

He follows the Bat and his new birdie out when they go patrol, floating after them. Bruce is more violent, and the kid, while incredibly intelligent, is also nervous and determined and worried and scared of failing. The Bat is more violent. Robin has to keep him in check.

Its on one of these patrols that everything goes a bit wrong - the 'dynamic duo' got separated, and the little bird (why's he so small??) gets cornered. Jason panics, just a bit, when he sees an attack that the kid won't be able to block. Sticks his arm out to block the attack, even thought he knows that it won't-

The pipe the thug was using hits his arm.

It- it doesn't hurt, just a strange pressure, then its gone. The fight ends, moments later, when the big bad bat swoops down and beats them all unconscious. Violently.

That hasn't happened before. He tries again, poking one of the thugs in the face. Nothing happens.He works up some of the frustration he can barley feel these days. (Why is everything so numb--)

And pokes the thug again. It works. It actually works. He can interact with the world around him, even just a little bit.

Jason spends more time wandering around, poking things when he can muster up enough emotion to be sure that it will work.

Eventually, he sees a little girl in crime alley - she couldn't be older than 6 - getting hit and kicked by a group of boys all far older than her. Anger, anger he hasn't felt so strong in what feels like a millennia. He puts it to good use.

(The next day, there will be a group of boys wailing about an invisible spirit beating them up. A little girl will tell her closest friend about how she was saved by an invisible Spector. It's the start of something new.)

Jason has an idea. He sees someone, unable to defend themselves, and he gets himself angry enough to defend them. Watches over crime alley, and ignores and avoids Batman. It get to much to be around him, sometimes. Most of the time.

He sees the baby birdie, joined now sometimes by a kid dressed in purple. He saves their asses a few times, knocks the guy they didn't notice out before the kids can get hurt. Yanks or pushes them out of the way, boosts a jump a bit higher.

They don't notice. The people he helps on the streets do.

Ghosts in DDMG and Ghost Splinter 2 are similar to the Phandom version of the ghosts from Danny Phantom in that they have obsessions. It's kind of like their unfinished business, in that it's something that keeps them tethered to the mortal plane and keeps them stable.

For some ghosts it's finding out why/how they died, others passing on vital information to the living. In some cases they hid something in their house when they were alive and need someone to fetch it.

Ghosts have to feed their obsession. If they don't it's the equivelent of going without food or drink and they destabilise.

Some obsessions can be resolved, in which case the ghost will either pass on, or will find a new obsession.

Ghosts can also have minor obsessions that branch off from the primary one.

DDMG Splinter argues that he doesn't have an obsession. The first time he said that, his seven adopted children just looked at him. It's not entirely accurate to say adoption is his obsession - it's more along the lines of he wants to protect people, children especially, and gets really easily attached to people. Kirby and Casey's grandma are part of his chosen family, and he also ends up having several adoptive nieces and nephews. It's likely that he has obsessions with both family and protection, with it being really hard to tell which is the primary obsession and which is the seconday one.

That being said, he's not simply a ghost - there's some rat demon stuff going on in there too that needs to be accounted for. For one, he's territorial. For another, he's got certain needs (eating, drinking, sleeping to an extent) that ghosts don't really have to bother with.

Ghost Splinter 2 also has a protection obsession, which is both more straight forward and complicated than DDMG Splinter's. It's a factor in him not passing on, in not telling his children he died, in deciding to fight the Super Shredder on his own. Making amends for past mistakes is also a potential obsession. Intially, it might have even been his primary obsession with protection branching off from it
