i was actually being scared of hearing that song but as soon as i heard it, i was like "oh fuck this is great".

i knew that the new music would be either "fall in love instantly" or "not so sure about this, i need to listen to this a few times more just in case".

Ghost songs as moments from my drive home from campus

From The Pinnacle To The Pit- you're driving through the back roads and it's already dark. Trees surround the road and all of the cars driving in the opposite lane have their high beams on. You don't know if you should have turned a few miles back, and you're starting to get worried. But after a while, you're the only car on the road, and you catch a glimpse of the moon, shining bright in the sky and surrounded by glittering stars. You pass a familiar landmark and you realize that you knew your way the entire time

Kiss the Go-Goat- traffic is moving smoothly and there's a red light ahead. But, before you have to brake, the light turns green and you hardly have to let off the gas. Life is good

Rats- you hit a red light right before the ramp onto the freeway. You overcompensate a little on the ramp itself, and by the time you merge onto the freeway, you're already going 5 over the speed limit

Faith- the freeway is full of cars. Your exit is in a few miles, and you're all the way over in the fast lane. You have to act fast. You're absolutely sure that if you had a passenger, they would be gripping their handle and texting their mother that they love her, but you're the only one present to witness your folly, along with the faceless cars in traffic, and you merge like a bat out of hell

Respite on the Spitalfields- the freeway is empty, finally. You're sitting in the middle lane. The thought has occurred to you that you're going home, away from the space that you've been able to properly make your own, and back to people who know you by another name. But you've made this little pilgrimage at least once every year and you surprise yourself every time by handling it well enough. You'll be ok until you can leave

Zenith- you're driving through your hometown and you realize that this place hasn't felt like home for a long time. You've changed so much, and it feels like this street hasn't changed at all. At some point it occurs to you that maybe you had to leave this place behind to grow, that you were never going to experience life the way you needed to if you stayed behind. It's a bittersweet thought; your hometown is never going to quite feel the same as before but that's because you've just grown up

RITUAL!! - oh man so good, i love the start of it so much, it like begins so light with that lighter guitar sound and then BAM, it picks up, and i love that one live clip of aether singing it, like i can't listen to the song without thinking about the way he does it, like MAN. and the song itself!! just an all around banger.

witch image - one of my favorites on prequelle fr, i love the way it sounds around i love the little guitar riff at the beginning the little "do do dO Do dodo" if ykwim!! oh and the way "you never wanted to reach out to the edge of time" sounds is on repeat in my head all the time. also the chorus, there's literally nothing about that song i dislike.

spillways - DO NOT GET ME STARTED BC I WON'T SHUT UP ABOUT HOW GOOD THIS SONG IS. for starters the beginning piano reminds me of money money money and i love ABBA so that's SO much fun. also the "BUM....BUM....BA BUM" of the guitar and drums under the opening words??? slaps, makes the 80 hd's in me happy. also i love the music video bc i love the spinny copia clips. also the whole "you wanna shake it off but you are stuck insiiiidddddeeeEEEEEEEe" and "riiiidddddeeeeEEEEEEeee" you know what i'm talking about. SO GOOD. (oh and the creepy SPILLWAYS SPILLWAYS is wonderful)

rats - okay for some reason i took so long to come around on this song, i don't know what it was but i was finally like "ace you need to stop lying to yourself this song is a banger." i always sing along and do the "OOOOWAAAAHHHHH" too early but idc i'm having fun. also the music video kills me EVERY time, i loose my mind. it caught me so off guard the first time i watched it. i do love the opening bit of drums bc i am a sucker for a good drum beat, and i love how the vocals like warp in at the beginning, it's such a crunchy song and i love it so much, (and i love bothering one of my friends about it bc rats are a whole things with them and i talk about it too often)
