((opener for @ghcstmemoirs))
"You must be Dan Feng," Bailu stated. The little high elder's turquoise eyes bore into her predecessors as she studied him. Dan Heng and Dan Feng were practically identical; however, there were a few things that did set them apart, one of them being their antlers. Dan Feng's weren't see-through like Dan Heng's, and they lacked the rings of gold located at the base. There was also their hair; unlike Dan Heng, Dan Feng's hair was longer and solid black. Dan Heng's was black and turquoise, with the turquoise part being most prominent on the underside of his hair, which faded out to a darker blue at the ends. There was also the fact that they were wearing completely different clothing.
"My name is Bailu, though everyone just calls me Healer Lady. I'm the current high elder of the Luofu's Vidyadhara; nice to meet you." Bailu wouldn't exactly call herself a high elder after Scalegorge, but he didn't need to know that.

She asked for advice on a situation and he sympathized, meeting her gaze. She looked sad and he asked if she could still do what she had planned."I attempted to pretend to be someone In the past, I was not aware. of, but I eventually realized that people didn't seem to like me very much. Although I am only half-adept and half-human, the adepti do not consider me as one of them. While this may not necessarily be a negative thing, it is a challenge for me."

It's sweet that Dan Feng is concerned about her and wants to cheer her up.

Even though they had only just met, he showed a genuine concern for her welfare. Her situation had caused her to feel lonely and disconnected, so his words were comforting. She confided in Rex Lapis about her emotions and he too became worried about how the other adepti and humans were treating her. "You have knowledge of the adepti in your world as well. They have lived for thousands of years and are the guardians of Liyue. They're often thought of as mystical creatures. I'm not very familiar with the Vidyadhara, but based on what I know, you and your group would likely get along with the adepti. Your kind words are appreciated. It's just unfortunate that some of them aren't as accepting and can be quite stubborn in their old ways."
The Vidyadhara brought his hand close on his chin, as he listened to her. He could not help but be concerned about her even though she wasn't even from his family. But feeling out of two different worlds because she was half must have been a scary thing.
Dan Feng seemed to know well what it was like to feel out of place.
⸻ ❝ Human and adepti. What little I read about adepti made it clear to me that they were species that lived a very long time and were depicted as mystical animals. Seen in this light my species might fit in with them. ❞ He commented, though he knew that was not what they were talking about. ❝ In my opinion, I don't think you are any less adepti than the others. Moreover, I think what you are is even more special than someone being solely of one species. It's really a pity they don't see you as one of them. ❞

"Well, I wouldn't say we're completely out of danger..." If the recent assassination attempts are anything to go by. However, Dan Feng's next words made her frown.
"'Chains'? What are you talking about? Did they try to keep you locked up in the Alchemy Commission too?" That would explain a lot. However, Bailu had a gut feeling that she enjoyed more freedom than most past High Elders since the preceptors didn't bother teaching her how to be one. As far as she was concerned, her current duties were to her patients, the Express, and keeping the arbor's seal intact, nothing else.

"You can hide your tail?!" Does this mean Dan Heng has been hiding his tail the whole time? Can she hide her tail, too? Are all High Elders able to hide their tails? Bailu'stail began to wag at this prospect; if she could hide her tail and horns, it would make avoiding the preceptors- and potential assassins- unexacting.
"Can you teach me how to do that?" She asks. "It sounds super handy!"
But at his request, Bailu paused. "My dreams?" She repeated.
The little Vidyadhara frowned a little and began tapping her chin in contemplation. Did she have dreams?
"…Well, I can't speak for Dan Heng, and I'm not sure if I even have any dreams right now, but I can tell you what we've been up to." She flashed the former High Elder a bright smile before continuing.
"After Dan Heng left the Luofu, he joined the Astral Express," she explained, "he's their archivist and guard currently."
"As for me, I just recently joined the Express too-" Bailu grinned as she showed off her Express badge. "I'm their on-board doctor for the time being; I'm taking a sabbatical from my duties at the Alchemy Commission."

Bailu frowned a little. If 'it' was the transmutation arcanum, then it didn't exactly work out; Dan Heng had one half, and she had the other. The little High Elder didn't mind this; however, she never wanted the position in the first place.
"Yep. I recognized you the moment I saw you. You look a lot like Dan Heng," she stated, "but you're also kind of different too."
Bailu leaned to the left a little. "You also don't have a tail," she observed. Strange, this makes two High Elders without tails. Perhaps only girl High Elders have tails? Bailu will have to ask Dan Heng about this later.
"Anyway," she returned her attention to Dan Feng. "Is there something want to talk about? I don't know much about ghost and stuff, but if you need help I'll do the best I can."
