Lehenga Choli For Girls
Lehenga Choli is a traditional Indian outfit that consists of a long skirt (Lehenga) and a short blouse (Choli). It is a popular attire for girls to wear on special occasions like weddings, festivals, and other celebrations.
Lehenga Choli for girls comes in a variety of designs, colors, and fabrics. The skirt (Lehenga) is usually embellished with intricate embroidery, sequins, or zari work. The blouse (Choli) can also be decorated with similar work or made from contrasting fabric to create a unique look. Some Lehenga Choli sets also come with a dupatta, which is a long scarf that is draped over the head and shoulders.
Lehenga Choli for girls can be worn for different events depending on the style and design. For example, heavily embellished Lehenga Choli sets are usually reserved for weddings, while simpler designs can be worn for festivals or family gatherings.

*ೃ༄ ready, set, spin! ˚◞♡ ⃗
Pairing: Gwen Stacy x fem!Indian!Reader
Type: Oneshot - Fluff
Word count: 923
Warnings: Use of Y/N, use of nicknames (sweetheart, my love) and lots of culture infodumping but everything’s just fluffy stuff! :D
A/N: Wrote this while waiting for a ballet performance which I’m in to start so not proofread at all :’)
(also shoutout to @hobiebrownismygod for hyping my up tHAT WAS LITERALLY SO SWEET THANK U SO MUCH MY LOVE 💕)
“Gwen? Gwen! What-”
You cut yourself off with a soft grunt as the girl in front of you tackled you into a hug, squeezing you tight against her. You dropped your kathak bag onto the floor to hug her back. “Hi, Y/N. I had some free time and thought I’d come visit you. You just got back from kathak?”
You nodded and squeezed her hand as she pulled away to press a kiss to your lips and look at you, dressed in a ghagra choli and churidars covered from head-to-toe in mirror-like sequins stitched barely inches apart onto the midnight blue fabric.
“You look like a disco ball,” Gwen noted, giving you a smile. “Yeah, I noticed.” You linked pinkies with her, dragging her over to sit beside you on the couch while you caught your breath. “We had to do so many chakkars today, I’m absolutely exhausted.”
“Chakkars? What are- oh, are they those spins? Are you spotting enough?” Gwen pulled your legs over her lap, examining the ghungroo bells tied around your ankles with fascination. You held out your hand to her and she untied the strings of bells for you, dropping it into your palm and starting to massage small circles into your sore calf muscles.
“Yeah, I’m spotting enough. It’s just really tiring, y’know?”
Gwen smoothed down a wrinkle in your ghagra. “Yep, that happens. Same thing with pirouettes.”
“Noooo, pirouettes are so different! They’re all graceful and elegant and your legs are in weird positions and a chakkar is more speed than grace. I bet you can’t do a chakkar,” You grinned at her from across the couch, a friendly challenge in your tone at the last part.
“Oh, you are on. And I bet you can’t do a pirouette.”
“Deal. Prepare to lose, Gwendolyn Maxine Stacy.” You couldn’t help but giggle softly at the death-glare she gave you once you mentioned her full name. Fortunately, you knew her well enough to know you had to squirm out of range so she couldn’t tickle you ruthlessly.
“Okay, pirouettes, right? Is it like…” You placed your left foot a few inches behind your right one, angled out so your ankles were lined up. Gwen winced at how you were mercilessly butchering the fourth position in ballet.
“Shush, I’m trying my best. I’d like to see you try to do a chakkar on your first try.” You gave her a little glare, unable to squash the smile tugging at your mouth.
Gwen stuck her tongue out at you and joined you on the floor, standing a few feet away and joining her heels. “How do I do it again…?”
“Wait, you gotta use the ghungroo!” You grabbed the strings and tied them around her ankles, the bells jingling with every move she made. Gwen scrunched her nose as she looked down at it. “This is so different from ballet. Lemme guess, next you’re going to tell me to not point my toes.”
“Well… yeah, actually. See, you’re catching on already!” You gave her a kiss on the cheek before retaking your place and trying your best to figure out how you had aligned your heels. “Okay, you go first. Do a four-step chakkar. I’ll count tha, thei, thei, thut. On each syllable you move your feet into the turn.”
“Wait, wh-”
“Tha, thei, thei, thut” You watched Gwen fumble her way through the turn. Surprisingly, she was a natural at it, although her technique could be perfected a little. “Whoa, you’re actually really good at this. It took me weeks to learn how to do a chakkar.”
Gwen gave you a big smile and reached out to squeeze your hand in thanks before coming to stand beside you. “Okay, now do a pirouette. I know you can do it, sweetheart. C’mon, feel the fire, reach into your heart to find the answer or whatever those mentors in your serials say.”
You feigned a dramatic gasp. “Don’t insult Bollywood serials, they’re awesome!”
“I never said they weren’t. Now shush and focus on the turn or you might end up on the floor with a twisted ankle.” You angled your gaze at a point on the wall to spot through your turn, then brought your hands to curve and meet a little in front of your belly button. You pushed your back leg off the ground into the turn, but lost your spotting point somewhere along the way and ended up losing your balance.
Gwen lunged to catch you before you could hit the ground, steadying you and bringing you back onto your feet. “Yeah, I think that’s enough for today. Come on, let’s go get something to eat.”
“Pani puri,” You immediately suggested. Gwen’s eyes widened and she flushed a little as she remembered an incident that happened when you first tried to teach her to crack open the sphere part of the snack.
“You know I keep breaking those little sphere things,” She complained, giving you puppy eyes in hopes that they’d change your mind. “I spilled the pani part of it all over you last time too, remember? And I don’t wanna ruin your kathak clothes, they’re so pretty.”
“That’s fine, my love. I’ll go change and I’ll teach you how to do it again, properly this time. Besides, pani puri isn’t supposed to be eaten neatly, the whole point of it is that it’s messy and you need to somehow stuff the whole thing in your mouth before it leaks and makes too big of a mess to clean up.”
“Fine, I’ll do it. But only because you asked me to. And I’m going to hold the puri this time.”
I don’t do Kathak and I never have, so pls lmk if anything’s incorrect! <3
Kathak is a type of northern Indian classical dance, with alternate passages of mime and dancing.
A ghagra is a long full skirt, often decorated with embroidery, mirrors, or bells.
A choli is a blouse or a bodice-like upper garment that is commonly cut short leaving the midriff bare (but it’s not always cropped that short). It is usually worn along with a sari or ghagra in the Indian subcontinent.
A ghungroo, also known as ghunghru or ghungur or ghungura, is one of many small metallic bells strung together to form ghungroos, a musical anklet tied to the feet of classical Indian dancers.
Spotting is just a technique used by dancers when they’re spinning as a way to not lose their balance - basically you just focus on a point and every time you spin you have to look at that particular point as quickly as you can and for as long as you can.

Payal playbacks
This is the reference sheet/moodboard for Payal
A/n: This is sort of the things i had in mind when writing, off the top of my head, so i might edit this later if i remember more
and if there's anything more you'd want to know just ask :)
• The song that reader, Manu and Pari danced to: https://youtu.be/VRRnuJph8kQ • I sort of imagined reader to have the same outfit as the woman in the music video wearing the sleeveless top, but really you can imagine anything just look up 'navratri ghagras'
• The song that was the big dance number (with the reader but Manu wasn't in it) : https://youtu.be/vK5E_aeBGYA
• The choreography I imagined for it was more like a mix of dis tho: https://youtu.be/oghn6E4ibJ8 https://youtu.be/aHeIJwgNqEY again you can imagine anything really, what's important is that reader has that classic 'all eyes on you girl' moment (or at least the only eyes that matter ;) )
Dictionary: In case anyone isn't familiar with some terms and wants to know without having to search: • ghagra - a long full skirt, often decorated with embroidery, mirrors, or bells. The top you wear along with it is called choli, so the whole set (top and skirt) is called ghagra-choli but sometimes just ghagra for short.
• gulab jamun - an Indian sweet consisting of a ball of deep-fried paneer boiled in a sugar syrup.
• payal - anklet
• dandiya - socio-religious folk dance originating from Indian state of Gujarat and popularly performed in the festival of Navaratri.
participants use small wooden sticks called "dandiyas" to rhythmically strike each other's sticks in pairs, while dancing in a circle. (do y'all want ref video to what i had in mind? what AJ and reader are gonna do? wink wink)
• kurta - a loose collarless shirt worn by people from South Asia.
Ani's wearing a black (shimmery) one cuz it's the desi equivalent of a formal black shirt with sleeves folded over the forearms (i mean just look at this) but i imagined how he actually wore it as this one

The Talking Walls
PROLOGUE
Throughout her days of blissful ignorance, of childlike innocence, Anushka was happy. She didn't know that her father was killing his subjects off for his own pleasures, she remained oblivious to his 'human hunting', where slave children were imprisoned for weeks, then left out into the forest like animals to be hunted and killed.
During this period of ignorance, the pampered princess made a friend. And this friend was unlike the ones her mother asked for from the locals. This friend wasn't the gardener's daughter, or one of the courtesan's sons.
This friend was Amrita Joshi. A friend for her eyes alone.
It had started with disembodied giggles here and there, with a curtain fluttering on a windless night.
Anushka was, as usual walking through the corridors of the mahal, looking for her oldest sister, Jamini, when she saw something out of the corner of her eye. A white ghagra just slipping out of view down the corridor towards the Chandni Ghar, otherwise known as the house of pinwheel jasmines. A gift from her father to his wife, her mother.
Intrigued, she followed the sounds of a pair of payals or belled anklets through the corridors till she saw her.
A girl with a netted veil over her face which obscured her features, a white ghagra choli embroidered with intricate designs in gold thread.
"Who are you?" Anushka asked. There is no way this girl was one of the servants' children, because they always donned the simple white dhoti kurtas or sarees of the peasantry. No embroidery, no design.
But this looked like the expensive works of a weaver from the east...
The girl looked no older than Anushka herself, 11 years old, and her voice was no different. "My name's Amrita Joshi," said the girl. "You can...see me?"
"Of course," scoffed Anushka. "Have you been the one giggling around the palace at odd hours?"
Amrita nodded, shifting the veil from her face. Her face was strikingly beautiful, with big eyes as brown as freshly turned earth, and hair as black as the obsidian which donned her father's crown and throne.
"I'm bored," admitted Anushka. "I could use some company."
"But I am...a ghost," said Amrita, confused.
"And? You're in my mother's rooms, you're in my father's palace, and you are in my presence. You are 11 years of age, aren't you?" the princess asked, scoffing a little.
"I think I am," replied the ghost, leaning against a beautifully carved pillar, her veil fluttering in the slight breeze which danced through the corridors.
"Then play with me," said Anushka. "Don't act like you don't need a friend, too."
Amrita nodded. This mortal girl did have a fair point, indeed.
"Let's go."
and so there it begins...

Major Study W3- Inspiration
For the character Mahabali, I need some details to add on the base model. So, I did research about the ancient time king's outfit.
"Fashion somewhere started showing its colors from the times of ancient India itself. There is some evidence of Indus Valley Civilization or Harappa civilization indicating the use of woven cotton fabric. Flax plant was grown to obtain the fibers of plants and silkworms were cultivated for silk. The priest-kings wore a robe over their shoulders and men wore turban draped over the head. The style of women’s clothing included knee-length skirts with jewelry like bangles, earrings, and beaded necklaces. Even men wore jewelry and all this data is as per the figurines obtained from excavations. One of the first pieces of evidence of Dhokra art which is quite popular now is the dancing girl of Mohenjo- Daro."
There were lots of traditional Outfit in India. In ancient time King wear different Outfit according to the time period and the region.
Here Mahabali was ruled the Kerala during the Vedic period. So, I consider the dressing style in the Vedic period.
"During the Vedic era, a single cloth draped around the body, across the shoulder was pinned or fastened with a belt and was considered a comfortable attire for hot weather. Paridhana or vasana was a lower garment which was a cloth draped around the waist with a string or belt called as rasana or mekhala. A shawl-like garment worn over the shoulder was called as uttaiya. Pravara, a third garment was like a cloak mostly worn in cold months. This was a general dressing for both men and women, which only varied in the style of wearing and size. When stitching started during the Vedic period, for women saree was the easiest attire to wear. Later on, a blouse or choli was also incorporated to cover the upper part of the body. Ghagra choli and dupatta were also introduced later during the Vedic period. Some of the sculptures revealed the used of cloth on the lower body which was pleated in front and held with the help of a long girdle. The girdle at time appeared to the end of the cloth, this might have been a trailblazer to the modern saree. Vedic men were also known to wear dhotis which draped around the waist and separated with pleats. No upper garments were worn by men during the Vedic era."
Here Mahabali is simple, and his dressing style was also simple.
I got some reference images what other artist done.
So, going through these images, I got some ideas what I have to add on my model. I will add some additional ornaments to make more details for my character. I will also add that umbrella which is equipped by Maveli.
