I come from Palawa People ❤️🖤💛 and it’s #naidocweek so I’m going to show up, which is what this year’s #naidocweek message is all about: GET UP, STAND UP, SHOW UP 💪🏻 It’s hard standing up for what you believe in; our culture is full of criticism. It’s hard getting up and doing something different; our culture loves to tear people down. It’s hard showing up for something more than ourselves and it’s hard to choose community; we’ve been taught to isolate, go it alone, and suffer in silence. It’s hard. Change is hard. Acknowledgement is hard. Truth is hard. Honesty is hard. Offering instead of taking is hard. Listening instead of talking is hard. But it IS worth it. This is the culture we need to change. The ‘all about me’, when it should be ‘all about us’. Our community. Our collective impact. Our power to create positive change. Challenge yourself this #NAIDOC week and do something to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We rise by lifting others. I’m celebrating incredible First Nations businesses all week over at @themoralmanual and today, I’m sharing this beautiful artwork by @mulganai👌🏻 I’m also researching more, educating myself more, and trying to understand more. Conversations create change, so I’d love to encourage you to have a conversation with anyone you know about what @naidocweek is all about. #GETUPSTANDUPSHOWUP (at Melbourne, Victoria, Australia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CfnfmTjLcRq/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
