Hey, anon! No problem, I'm here for you. I hope this made sense and I tried my best to explain it in simple terms. But let me know if this is still confusing!

TLDR:

The pity system guarantees that you get a 4-star item at 10 rolls/wishes. A 5-star item at 90 rolls. You can get a 4/5 star before the pity mark but that will reset the counter back to 0.

Pity does not cross over banners. Whatever rolls you made, stay on that banner.

Soft pity and hard pity only apply to 5-star items (90 rolls). Soft pity is at 75 rolls. Hard pity for character banners is 90. The weapon banner is at 80.

Soft pity means your chances of getting a 5 star are higher compared to rolls 1-74.

Hard pity is you're guaranteed roll.

Pity System

The pity system refers to the number of wishes you spend on each banner before you're guaranteed a 4/5 star item.

4-star character/weapon - 10 wishes

5-star character/weapon - 90 wishes

If you rolled 9 times without getting a 4-star item. You're guaranteed to get a 4 star on your 10th roll. It's basically a safety net.

You can get a 4-star item before 10 wishes. If you do, that reset's the pity.

For a visual aid, let's pretend 🔶 are 3-star items. ✨ is a 4-star item.

If you rolled:

Then your 10th roll will be a guaranteed ✨

The same logic applies to 5-star items. Except the counter is 90. If you've rolled 89 times without getting a 5 star. Then your next roll (90) is a guaranteed 5-star item. If you get a 5 star before 90 rolls, the counter resets and you start back from 0.

PITY DOES NOT CROSSOVER BANNERS. If you spent 89 wishes on the limited banner, that doesn't carry over to the weapon banner or non-limited. This means if you were trying to stack up pity on the weapon banner to guarantee a 5-star character. It doesn't work like that.

Basically:

If I gave you 9 candies. That doesn't mean I gave everyone 9 candies. Those 9 sweets belong to you.

If I gave another child 1 candy. That's doesn't mean I have them 10 because I gave you 9. They got 1. You have 9.

The same logic applies to banners. If you roll 9 times on the weapon banner and didn't get a 4-star [✨] that doesn't mean that the next roll you make on a separate banner will be a guaranteed 4-star.

Soft pity and Hard pity

Soft pity and hard pity only apply to 5-star weapons (90 rolls). Soft pity starts at 75 rolls. It basically means that the chances of you getting a 5-star item go higher.

For example: (this isn't accurate. I have no idea what the actual percentage is)

Roll 1-74: Your chances of getting a 5-star item are 0.8%

Roll 75-89: Your chances of getting a 5-star item are 20%

Roll 90: Your chances of getting a 5-star item are 100%

So when people talk about soft pity. It means "Hey, I'm really close to hitting that extra bump that makes my chances of getting something good go higher". Hard pity is just you're guaranteed roll and you hit max pity.

first of all, u made a very solid choice with the fruit punch. that’s my favorite 😌 can’t go wrong with that. well done. i commend u

as for pacific cooler and splash cooler, those are just two of the many Cooler™️ flavors. tbh i couldn’t really tell u the exact flavor differences alsdkjfaj actually i think pacific cooler tastes kinda similar to fruit punch? idk but it’s good lol. splash cooler is also tasty. i think it has a stronger apple flavor. but mountain cooler is even apple-y-er. i like all of the cooler flavors!

basically, here are my recommendations:

1. fruit punch

2. tropical punch

3. any of the coolers

there’s also a strawberry kiwi, which i personally don’t care for much, but a lot of people love that one. wild cherry is ok. uhhhhh i don’t care for the lemonade one. those are p much all the flavors they carry at my grocery store so i couldn’t tell u about the others haha

side note: it’s weird that i’ve never had the orange flavor? cause that is the original flavor for caprisun in other countries, but i don’t think i’ve ever even seen it on sale here in the US even tho it is apparently available lol

ok but my biggest caution when buying caprisun is to make sure you’re getting the right TYPE. please study this visual aid carefully:

roarin’ waters is nothing but a DECEIVER ok!!! do not be fooled. it is not True caprisun. it’s just flavored water. which is not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself but i cant tell u how many times i’ve roarin waters’d myself thinking i was about to get a tasty sip of the classic caprisun Juice Drink Blend and instead i get the unsatisfying, watered-down, fake-sugar taste of roarin’ waters. it’s like thinking you’re about to bite into a chocolate chip cookie but then it turns out to be oatmeal raisin. which would possibly be a decentish cookie if that’s what you’re expecting but which is a devastating disappointment when you you are expecting something of superior taste and quality.

any flavor of regular caprisun u get will range from aight to v tasty but every flavor of roarin’ waters is the Worst. in my humble opinion. some people enjoy roarin’ waters equally, and those people are called “very nice, but also Wrong”

TLDR:

there is also a 100% juice kind of caprisun at my grocery store, which, unsurprisingly, tastes exactly like whatever flavor of juice it is lol. i had apple and it tasted. like apple juice. which is good but also not what i was in the market for lol. plus those look like they’re made for smol children and im a Big Kid so i get the cool stuff aka REAL (fake, but not as fake as roarin’ waters) caprisun

one final thing to note in your caprisun-buying adventures:

the joy of drinking caprisun come not from the flavor of the drink (which is probably kinda mediocre tbh) but the experience of DRINKING IT FROM A POUCH!! 

juice in a cup: tasty, but boring. panache-less.

A character analysation of IdV’s Bloody Queen

Bloody Queen AKA Mary is a hunter in the mobile/PC game Identity V. She is personally my favorite hunter because she is easy to learn but hard to master. Her backstory is something that has always interested me though, so i decided to compile my thoughts onto this one post.

Something i appreciate about IdV’s character roster is that some of them are based off of historical characters, and interesting ones at that. So expect a lot of history lessons and references that should be explained in order to understand a character fully (especially with Mary considering how there isn’t a lot shown about her backstory through promotional content, and im talking about stuff like the official website here).

With that in mind, let’s just get into it.

There is not a lot we know about Mary other than the fact that she is inspired from a mix of stories, those being about a French queen named Marie Antoinette and Bloody Mary. These two are used in seperate ways, Marie Antoinette’s story being used as heavy inspiration for Mary’s backstory and lore, while Bloody Mary is a visual/gameplay inspiration.

Mary’s description on her info page and on the official idv website is 

This is strange because it really tells little to nothing about Mary besides her being aware that the position of a queen means a lot of vulnerability. It also strikes me as weird because every other hunter has a fleshed out backstory being written under this tab. (With the exception of Guard 26)

So overall, the ground to work on is pretty small, we dont have a lot of info revealed to us, and therefore leaves her to be a character who loses a lot of potential on a writing stance.

Intro Video

Mary does have an introduction video, though, which explains the base of what happened to her Pre-manor. 

The video explains how Mary was the queen of a country that had a bad financial crisis which was so bad people couldn’t afford food (if we are sticking fully to the Marie Antoinette inspo, this was in the 1790′s) and the public felt as if Mary didn’t care enough to help her people, the citizens voted her to be beheaded under a guillotine. Truth be told, Mary was actually trying to help her citizens by giving them cake.

We have probably the most lore information about Mary from her deduction descriptions, which explain her career as a queen more in detail, about struggles she had and her situation in general.

Deductions

The first conclusion is clearly telling us that the king Mary married had a problematic family, and the king’s family probably only looked at Mary as someone who will keep the family’s name up, someone who will have a child with the king. (Also, dont get confused: Maria Theresia is Mary’s mother’s name, not her actual name.)

Mary used to spend a lot of time away from the palace in Petit Trianon, which is a manor located in Versailles. The secret letter tells us that Mary was egoistic, naive, and was kind of a glutton. The letter mentions how rumors are powerful, and are going to spread really fast once word comes out about the “incompetence” and lacking abilities witihin the royal family, which will eventually be Mary’s demise.

Princess Lamballe is once again a historical recreation of actual Priness Lamballe, a part of the Savoy House (Western EU country). In real life, Lamballe was actually the confidante (someone who you would discuss private matters with as a royal) of Marie Antoinette after her 1 year old marriage came to an end. IRL, Princess Lambelle dies along Marie Antoinette’s side as she gets killed in the French Revolution. 

The shameful secret can really only be assumed to mean that Lamballe was actually Mary’s secret affair, especially looking at how all evidence suggests that the actual royal family Mary is connected to seems to be a mess. Mary is kind of confirmed to be wlw from this deduction which is fucking cool, but this rumor mightve been what also caused Mary to be beheaded. (But, IRL, the king Artois considered Marie to be physicially unattractive or even smart enough for him, in contrary to him, where he apparently was attractive. He did end up making up with quite a number of mistresses. But let’s not get into a conversation about how unhealthy or toxic royal relationships were in the 1700′s)

this is obviously saying Lamballe is being replaced by the Yolande (Countess of Polignac) as her confidante. IRL, this happens because the Countess of Pilognac and Lamballe start having quarrels against each other, in which they try to win over the queen’s heart, and over time Marie ends up preferring Yolande’s company. But Lamballe feels as if Yolande was a bad influence on the queen, yet she could do nothing about it. The friendship between Lamballe and Marie remained regardless, and she constantly admired Lamballe’s loyalty toward her.  "She is the only woman I know who never bears a grudge; neither hatred nor jealousy is to be found in her." 

Mary finally has a child, and it is a girl. Here we see the reinforcement of Lamballe’s loyalty, but with this conclusion also being titled as a rumor, it is also telling that this is one of many reasons people will start getting suspicious of Mary’s possible affairs.  

This conclusion only leads me to believe that one of the several reasons why Mary was treated the way she was by the public was because of jealousy towards her life and the things she achieved at a young age. The description of the people who are spreading the rumors are bitter, sour people who take joy out of seeing the bad in successful people. Here is where it all goes downhill (as evident by the subtitle under the deduction title.)

We will once again need a little bit of a history lesson for this one:

Koblenz, first of all is a city in Germany. The reason why the French would ever think of even setting up anything in Germany was because of the French Immigrants, and the reason why the Germans were cool about this was because the archbishop-elector (one of the chiep bishop electors) was the uncle of Louis XVI-a persecuted king of France. Along with the refugees that entered the city, two of them was Louis XVI’s brothers: The Count of Provence and the Count of Artois. them, along with Louis XVI’s cousin, Prince Louis Joseph formed an army of aristocrats who would seek to fight for the Ancien Regimé (The name of the political and social system that was popular in France at the time.) In the meantime back in France, the Royal Family gave in and decided to adopt the  Constitutional Monarchy, which was very modern at the time. This deduction description just basically explains that this is where Mary and the royal family fucks up, i just thought it would be interesting to know what they actually meant by what they wrote.

Yolande has left behind the Royal Family and made a run to escape the country. If you’re wondering, at the start of the revolution Princess Lamballe was actually in Switzerland, but as soon as she got notified of the situation she revisited the royal family to aid them, and reassumed her position.

This letter in particular is pretty cut-and-clear: the intention of the revolutionists was to smudge the royal family’s name in the dirt once and for all. What real-life anti-monarchist propaganda would consist of at the time was promiscuous imagery of Lamballe and the queen as lovers to further “besmirch” the queen’s reputation.

This is just obviously hinting at the aftermath of the French Revolutions and also telling us the present (at the time the letter was written). Mary gets executed by the Guillotine, and-well we all know how the rest of the story goes.

Overall, Mary’s deduction story is just a short summarization of what actually happened before and during the French Revolution: it even added the details of how actually sketchy and corrupt the royal family within was, not just the dissatisfaction of the public. As a summary of what this meant for Mary, as the Hunter, she feels pure bitterness, and anger towards the citizens for the way they treated her and the people around her. And as we can see, there was no reference towards Bloody Mary what-so-ever, and the reason why that is is because according to the Chinese version of IdV (which is what the original game’s region/language is) Her name actually would translate to “Madame Red”, not Bloody Queen. I think it was just the translators having fun with words, and since her design is very similar to that of what a person would think Bloody Mary looks like, i guess it made sense to them lol

But regardless, we’ll still take a look at Mary’s design.

Mary’s design is simple compared to other hunter designs in IdV. A simple, ball gown which was originally white, but turned red due to Mary’s beheading, pools of blood dropped all over her body. Mary also used to have long hair, but assumed by the very broken looking locks of hair, her hair probably was cut down by the guillotine. Eagle-eyed people will also take notice to her neck, which is stitched back onto the rest of her body, which the designers wanted to include really bad since its prevalent even in concept sketches as well:

Mary’s gameplay design is based solely on mythologies about Bloody Mary, however, which makes things kind of confusing, but i guess thats what idv excels at the most lol

sasha reads thru statements and is a skeptic! she really does not believe it’s real until jane comes along.

“no, but every time i come to work i die a little more inside.”

until martin kool-aid-mans through the door and gets them out of there

jon used to work in artefact storage so he hides in there. he’ll be fine

SEASON TWO

sasha gets paranoid of course. she learns more about gertrude because she never got the chance to meet her

she takes a statement from a guy named michael shelley. weird dude. then helen shows up :)

jon is most definitely himself he is just a normal regular grumpy jon i swear :)

sasha starts to manifest her powers a little bit. she doesn’t know it, but she is an avatar of the stranger, and a prisoner of the eye.

she starts to notice more things about jon? similar to this comic but with jon

eventually she + tim + martin help get jon out of the grip of the NotJon. this is my au and i get to choose who dies (it’s no one because i miss the s1 archival assistants too much).

jon is pretty fucked up from this though and at like a season-3-tim mindset already.

sasha learns abt an upcoming web ritual (mirroring the unknowing), all that shit. gets kidnapped a ton of times, as usual.

helen is like “i am going to kill you because i hate gertrude <3 i was that dumb bitch’s assistant for too long” but michael busts out of the door like Hi Guys and traps her in the hallway.

sasha also gives her statement about a leitner she found as a child that marked her. its a stranger book and we learn her edgy orphan origin story how her parents were both murked by the stranger. fucked up if true!

back at the archives jon is like so fucking tired of this shit honestly and now martin is also pretty paranoid. also jm romance subplot is still very present!

tim is just trying to protect sasha at all times and he’s pissed she keeps leaving the country and getting fucking kidnapped

(remember when jon persuades the traffic cop?) sasha starts to fill her archivist role in a different way. she can shapeshift into the subject of a statement and uses her affiliation with the eye to coerce statements or info out of people. (example: if she needed a live statement from the guy in #90 Body Builder, she could temporarily make herself look like jared hopworth to the guy and ask “what happened to me?” or “what did i do?” and the guy would be like well he built some fucken bodies i guess let me tell you all about it) while reading the statements in america that refuel her, she fully shapeshifts into the statement giver while reading out loud.

once again i truly can’t remember daisy + basira’s roles until the end of the season. also melanie get shot by the ghost at some point

anyways sasha gets kidnapped by trevor and julia and they gerry lays out all the shit for her and she’s like ah! i’m fucked

tim offhand mentions the web ritual to martin and he loses his shit cause he’s marked by the web blah blah this isn’t a web!martin thing i swear i just need someone to fill tim’s role in the ritual and a lonely ritual would be fucking boring as hell as we learned from ass man peter lukas. i hate that man

so they make the plan to stop the web ritual (which is fucking hard when the offense knows your every move) so sasha, basira, daisy, jon, and martin go.

tim stays back at the institute to burn shit and distract elias. elias does some fucked up shit as usual and it makes me sad

the ritual starts! they have a plan to blow it up and run but like. u know how it goes

instead of the unknowing-stranger-dream-sequence, we get everyone kinda mixed up in a huge spider’s web on the big stage and its still quite confusing because this ritual not only manipulates the prey, but also the prey’s perceived reality. the web is also in current control of the buried coffin cause they think that shit is kinda fun. they yeet daisy into it.

hard to describe what happens, but basira keeps her cool, jon is a bit lost in his own mind, sasha tries to use her powers to escape but fails. she manages to get through to martin through the strings and mounds of spiders and she tosses him the detonator.

SEASON FOUR:

martin doesn't die, i told you i can't kill the og archival assistants! he does lose most of one leg though, he took the blunt of the explosion.

sasha in da hospital in da coma. tim is mad he can’t wake her up and then my man ollie says “ur fucked up mate” and she wakes up

(and because coma jon has such wild hair controversy, i’m establishing that her head was shaved when she was in the coma. it grows back thru s4. it she keeps one side shaved cause she’s cool)

meanwhile tim is recruited by that dumbass man you know who i don’t even wanna say his stupid fucking name

sasha gets daisy out of the buried. they become avatar pals!

(there is the biggest blank in my memory where all of season four should be. at this point i should just relisten to the entire fucking show but i would literally just forget it all again)

melanie says hm. fuck this! and blinds herself. she goes to live with georgie (and that’s the moment jon and sasha realize they are both georgie’s exes FHFHDJD)

tim continues to fight the lonely pull. he thinks that since p*ter l*kas is tied to the institute, he can blind himself out cause melanie was successful. he is wrong. he is also interrupted by elias midway, and only blinds one eye, and loses most of his sight in the other. elias’s hold on him is weak, but this just drives him way farther into the lonely.

gotta be honest i remember the end of season four but like i couldn’t visualize what was happening at the end so i like don’t understand what happened JGDKFJGD but sasha intervenes (???) and peter yeets tim into the lonely (???) and sasha jumps in (??????) after him. elias is just there i guess?

instead of “look at me martin,” sasha finds tim and at this point her form is warped and hard to recognize because of stranger powers, and tim is almost 100% blind, so she says “don’t look at me, see me. see me tim, it’s me.” and finally creates a clear image of herself. “it’s...it’s you. you’re my sasha.”

they break free and go to scotland i guess KHSDDKDSF

(alternate ending: personally i think sasha would read through each statement before speaking them aloud cause that’s what i would fucking do, so she would get this statement and be like “lmao tim come look at this elias trying to prank me dumb bitch think i’ll start the apocalypse for him. fucking little puny bitch boy. anyways what do you want for dinner?”)

SEASON FIVE:

“just. listen.”

“...i’m dead. and you have been chosen to be my replacement as head archivist. hopefully, this means you, jon, but if someone else is hearing this, and elias has made a different choice for some reason, then these words are still very much intended for you.”

“Uncle Carl how are you feeling today?” You ask taking a seat next to the bed of your uncle’s.

Funny enough you felt you were more close to Carl than say even your father you both sharing a bond. Your uncle was everything to you. 

Carl chuckled and leaned his head against the pillows, “dear, it is the same as always. Also why are you wearing a turtle neck and some long pants, its like 80 in here!”

Suddenly, Markus walked in, wanting to get Carl out of bed and to start the day. You always made sure to come early in the morning, sometimes even before Carl woke up. You wanted to spend every little minute with him. 

“Markus takes very good care of me. Without him I’d be lost.”

You peered up to see the android smiling lightly but as he saw your expression his face turned back to stoic. 

“Yes, Markus does take great care of you, I am forever grateful to him.” You stand up and fix your clothes. Markus’s eyes turn to your clothing and he looks concerned. You quickly pat Markus on the shoulder, “thank you Markus. Uncle I’m gonna wait downstairs for you, I brought some groceries maybe we can share a meal together!”

You ran down the stairs not wanting any confrontation. 

After eating and enjoying breakfast you go and wash the dishes. 

“I do not want to be rude, but you do realize I am the one who is supposed to do that.” Markus stood next to you. 

“Well take a break.”

Markus stood there like a stiff log with such a serious face.

You look him over and shake your head, “that let me tell you is not taking a break.”

Markus stood closer to you. His presence making you lose focus on what you were doing that your hands slip on a plate and the plate drops on the floor. You quickly get the pieces and one of the shards cuts your skin making it bleed. 

“Is everything alright dear?” Called your uncle, rolling to you.

“Oh its nothing its just a cut.” You wince touching it making it bleed more. 

“Markus, go help her out with that.”

Markus grabbed your other hand and led you to where Carl does his art. He brought out the first aid kit and tended to your wound. 

“This may hurt,” Markus touched the cut and you wince lightly, biting your lips to stop the cry. Then the pain goes away and instead it is replaced with soft, comforting hand. His hand lingers on yours for just a moment, making you feel sparks fly. 

You smile to Markus as he is putting a wrap around it, “Thank you Markus.”

“I don’t want to intrude or anything buy may I ask, why are you wearing that y/n?”

You turn around to look at yourself in the mirror. 

Of course you looked ridiculous and of course you were hot but you couldn’t reveal what was hidden under the clothes. 

You stare longer into the mirror, feeling self conscious with yourself. You wrap your arms around your waist and Markus comes up behind you to place a reassuring hand on your shoulder. 

“Y/n whatever you are hiding under there would not make you less beautiful.”

You shake your head back and forth and tears start to come out. 

“No I can’t show you, you would think of me badly. Everyone does when they get a look at me. I don’t want you to stop tending to my uncle or to stop talking to me.”

You wipe your tears away and grab your bag swiftly, saying goodbye to Markus. 

“Hey uncle I got to go, I just forgot I have to do something.”

Out the door you left. Leaving Markus questioning. 

“Uncle Carl is Markus there?” You asked over the phone the next day. 

“No why? Y/n you’re starting to sound real strange you know that. Wearing that outfit, and then Markus said you stormed out because you were crying, whats up with all that?”

Your leg bounced up and down, your hands rubbing your temple. “Uncle I’ll tell you when I get there.”

You walked up the stairs to your uncle’s room and sat by him. 

“See now that outfit’s better.”

Looking down to your hands tears appeared again. Carl was concerned and held your hands, “whats wrong my dear? Y/n tell me!”

“I hate the way I look!”

Your secret was about your tattoos, your tattoos covered your whole body. 

The only person who knew was your uncle and he didn’t mind since he had a couple himself. But you didn’t want to show them to Markus, not to someone who is so important to you. Every time you showed them to any one or to any android they would either become afraid or become disgusted. 

“I don’t want to be weird anymore. I don’t want Markus to not like me and then turn you away. I just wish people were more understanding.”

“I think you look beautiful.” Said a new voice, turning to the door you spot Markus. Feeling self conscious you try to cover up and go out the door. 

“This was a mistake,” you uttered, trying to leave. 

“Y/n, y/n please do not leave.” Called Markus, heading down the stairs. 

“What do you want Markus? You want to tell me how ugly I am?”

Markus face softened, “Y/n all those things you said about yourself are not true. I could never be afraid or disgusted by you. I believe your tattoos actually make you look-”

You came closer, innocence playing on your face, “yes?”

“I feel that these markings make you look...sexy.”

You chuckled, not knowing androids could say that. “Thank you Markus.”

Markus took a hold of your hand. “Y/n, you are beautiful just the way you are, and I would never want to change you, or for you to change.”

You smiled feeling loved and appreciated. 

“For gods sake just ask her out Markus!” 

You and Markus both look at the top of the stairs to see who said that.

hey hi i love this ask so much and i am absolutely going to indulge and go haywire in this answer

dirty dancing: strap in because this is going to include at least 3 80s movies but I Digress. this movie is very vivid in my mind from my childhood (even though i’ve probably watched it 3 times in the past year not to mention…. every other year), and it’s just such a perfect source for (a) my gigantic bisexuality, (b) my obsession with dancing, © being kind, and giving, but not letting that mean letting other people walk all over you. The fact that Frances has all these dreams that seem improper or trivial to her family but she still /She Still/ chases after them is the BIGGEST life lesson that has stayed with me.(for the record: dirty dancing 2: havana nights, which is - i think - disproportionately and UNJUSTLY shit on, is one of the best movies i’ve ever seen and it absolutely changed my life and i love it and id add it to the list too if it wasn’t part of this franchise)

guardians of the galaxy: i don’t think i need to explain much about this other than that this movie is the manifestation of everything i value both visually and morally and most importantly; how i handle all conflict. not to mention that movies where the underlying theme is the Power of Friendship make me nut harder than an oak tree

ferris bueller’s day off: this movie means so much to me i am literally incapable of being lowkey when i talk about this movie, i hyperventilate and my hands move too fast and i have such a fondness for matthew broderick in this film and just??? my personality is a cursed amalgamation of cameron and ferris and this movie explains my personality with such perfect precision it’s CRAZY and that’s all i’m going to say on it because i’d need days to talk about this movie to my satisfaction so jot that down!

unaccompanied minors: i always refer to this movie whenever anyone asks me what my favourite movie is because it just. Is. it’s a constant. It’s a feel-good christmas movie that took me until THE END to realise; fuck, there’s no santa claus there’s no magic elves it’s just a bunch of kids in an airport where all flights r postponed bc of the blizzard - but i still think it’s the best and most ASTOUNDING film exploration of christmas magic that’s ever been attempted. That’s christmas magic, that’s it. this movie captures it to a T. these kids finding themselves and friendship in one another and it’s just the BEST cast of personalities I HAVE EVER experienced and thinking about it makes goosebumps rise on my skin i literally cry every time i watch it?? to the point that it’s ridiculous. We used to rent it (back when renting dvds was a valid practice) and i’d watch it All Year Round. We rented it every fucking week that’s all u need to know.

amelie: acts as karma in karma’s stead. most unconventional love story i’ve ever seen play out. always, ALWAYS makes me feel happier at the end of it than i’d been at the start. literally the source of why i speak the way i do, why i use the words i use, why i conceptualize most things i do. also perfect example of Just Be Fucking Kind. i love this movie so much and the soundtrack BANGS

dead poets society: i steer as far away from sad movies as i possibly can - i’ll watch them, i’ll enjoy them, i’ll praise them - but i would never subject myself to them more than once. hah. here’s where the tide turns. dps means so much to me on an intimate, cosmic level i don’t know if i m ready to talk about. it has the saddest movie plot twist i can even think of, and i dehydrate myself every time i watch it, but it’s still one of the most positive movies and influences in my life and growth as a person, and while Sad Things Happen, i don’t think of it as sad. It ends so positively, it shows you that there is so much good, and evolution, and new opportunities to be taken in every corner of life. I just love it so fucking much!!!!!!! FUCK

Cinderella (2015): this movie. this FUCKING movie. the prince falls in love with cinderella for the things she’s said to him, for the way she manages to shake up his worldview with just one conversation, not just because she’s pretty. The stepmother is so vivid, and real, and there’s a REASON for her malice, it’s not just mellow theatre - it becomes so real; and yet, you still Hate her, you understand the whys of it, but it doesn’t JUSTIFY any of her behaviour. That decimating “i forgive you” at the end killed me. Most visually gorgeous movie i’ve ever seen, with such an engaging love story. “Have courage and be kind” is stuck in my head forever; i don’t think i could describe to you how deeply this phrase changed me

ever after: my other favourite cinderella adaptation. The prince falls in love with Danielle for her personality, they actually spend time together; his classism is confronted - by danielle herself, and by his advisors. He takes responsibility and uses his privilege for good. Leonardo Da Vinci is in it - there is no unnecessary love triangle involving danielle’s best friend, there is only healthy love and support and this movie is just boundless magic that never ends. And just like with unaccompanied minors - it took me until the end to realise there was no magic portrayed in it the way it usually is. I still maintain it’s the best fairytale film in the world, and there is so much magic in it (u just have to know where to look).

mamma mia: for those of u who know me, this needs no explanation. I think if u just watch the movie you’ll get it, and me, 100%
