How to Treat Menopause Naturally: 6 Essentials to Know
Treating menopause naturally and practically “symptom free” is not only possible,  it’s how women experienced menopause for hundreds of years, prior to hot flashes and headaches most women get now. Here are 6 essentials to know about menopause and how to treat menopause naturally.
Menopause 101
Peri-menopause and menopause, which span the 40s and 50s, are normal events in a woman’s life when a woman experiences shifts in her hormonal balance.
Menopause is defined as a “lack of period for 12-months or more, in a woman who over age 40.” Peri-menopause entails the years leading up to menopause—a time of hormonal imbalance, when the production of sex hormones (estrogen, progesterone and testosterone) begin to decline.
The average age of menopause onset is 51 years. However, this isn’t the case for everyone. The menopausal age of a woman’s own mother is often the best predictor and indicator of their own. For some women, this means older, for others, menopause can happen a little younger. Moreover, the perimenopausal (i.e. before menopause) years—-anywhere from age 35 to 55, is typically when many women begin to see their bodies and hormones become “imbalanced.”
Menopause Symptoms
Unfortunately, menopause and peri-menopause are often (negatively) associated with a wide array of “unpleasant symptoms” including:
Hot flashes
Night sweats
Weight and body fat gain
Slowed metabolism
Brain fog
Waking insomnia
Mood swings
Vaginal dryness
Decreased libido.
  Menopause Paradigm Shift
However, menopause and peri-menopause does NOT have to mean any of these symptoms—(at least to the intensity and degree that approximately 75 to 90-percent of women experience them). Menopause can actually feel like a “liberating” experience of never having to buy tampons again, while feeling proud and aging gracefully into the next stage of womanhood– especially if you know these 6 Things Every Woman Should Know About Hormone Imbalances & Menopause.
6 Things Every Woman Should Know About Hormone Imbalances & Menopause
1. (Some) Hormonal Imbalance is Normal
During the menopausal years, the production of estrogen, progesterone and testosterone naturally decrease—a normal hormonal imbalance that comes as a right of passage with age.
Concurrently during these years, a woman’s metabolic rate and bone density naturally decreases and body fat naturally increases (other normal biological“imbalances” that are actually not directly due to menopause itself).
While most women blame body fat, weight gain and other frustrations they have with their bodies on menopause, many health experts and research studies  agree that a majority of the “menopause symptoms” are actually more likely related to normal, natural shifts in metabolism that come with age, and other lifestyle factors.
The bottom line:
“Menopause symptoms” and “hormone imbalances” point back to imbalances in OTHER areas of your health and lifestyle, instead of menopause itself—many of these within your control, including:
Your nutrition
Emotional and mental health
Quality sleep 7-9 hours each night
Stress
Toxin exposure (beauty products, plastics, cleaning supplies)
Exercise
Caffeine and sugar consumption
  2. Stress is the #1 Driver Menopause
During the peri-menopausal and menopausal years, the production of sex hormones shifts from the ovaries to the adrenal glands (the same glands also responsible for producing and balancing cortisol, your stress hormone).
Cortisol is necessary for helping us combat stress when we need it most (like a tough workout or getting us through the day after 5 hours of sleep one night). However, when our lifestyles demand too much cortisol daily to fight off stress ON TOP of the elevated cortisol from our hormone shifts, then, Houston, we have a problem.
In short, the more stressful our lives and our bodies, the MORE stressed out our hormones (and the MORE menopause symptoms).Stress goes far beyond mental stress too.
Common daily stressors that work against hormonal imbalance include:
Dieting and under-eating
Sedentary lifestyles OR overtraining
Lack of fresh air and nature
Lack of social connections
Poor quality foods
Environmental toxins (plastics, beauty and cleaning products)
Lack of water
High coffee/caffeine or sugar/sweetener consumption
Low fat, low protein or too-low-carb diets
The bottom line:
Stress is the number one driver of hormonal imbalances and the intensity of menopausal symptoms women experience in their 40’s and 50s.
3. The Gut is the Gateway to (Hormonal) Health
The gut is the gateway to (hormonal) health.
Think about it: Every single cell in a woman’s body is nourished, fed and supported by what goes into the gut. In addition, the gut is an epicenter of hormone production (in fact, the gut is now being termed an “endocrine organ”). If we have a weak foundation in our gut (i.e.  “leaky” gut, bacterial overgrowth, low stomach acid, parasites, etc.), then the rest of our body takes a hit–cortisol and hormone levels included.
Even if you do eat “healthy,” if you have an underlying gut imbalance or you are not supporting the health of your gut as a whole, then your body is simply not going to absorb and digest the foods you eat (for hormone health).
Unfortunately, much of conventional medicine is built upon the replacement model (simply replacing hormones or treating hormone imbalances with hormone replacement drugs and therapies) BEFORE looking into the reasons why hormones are significantly out of balance in the first place.
For some women, gut testing (SIBO, stool, organic acids, etc,) can be a game changer in understanding why their hormone imbalances may be more “out of control.” For others, simple implementation of a basic digestive support protocol can be “game changing” to minimize or lessen any compounded stress.
The bottom line:
A common reason why women experience menopause symptoms (i.e. unwanted weight gain, headaches, brain fog, blood sugar imbalance, insulin resistance, etc.)  goes back to the gut.
4. Your Liver Needs Love (During Menopause)
The liver is your detoxifying organ responsible for controlling the flushing and balancing of hormones in your body.
The metabolism of estrogen itself takes place primarily in the liver through Phase I (hydroxylation) and Phase II (methylation and glucuronidation) pathways.  These allow the estrogen to be detoxified and removed from the body.
However, if estrogen is UNABLE to be detoxified (due to a sluggish digestion, gut imbalances or liver dysfunction), excess estrogen accumulates in the body can cause many of the unpleasant symptoms of menopause (weight gain, mood swing, temperature changes, etc.).
How does your liver “get unhealthy?”
There is typically no single one reason. Some common stressors that take a toll on your liver and body’s ability to detoxify include:
Longterm medication use (birthcontrol, prescription meds, NSAIDS)
High alcohol consumption
Low-fat diets
Packaged and processed foods
Mold exposure
Non-organic food sources, conventional meats, fish with heavy-metals and conventional dairy
Exposure to environmental toxins (plastics, cleaning and hygiene products)
Poor quality, contaminated water
  The bottom line:
Love your liver during menopause to balance hormone imbalances.
Liver Health Boosters
Eat leafy greens, healthy fats and cholesterol (especially pastured egg yolks, coconut oil and ghee/grassfed butter), fresh herbs, plenty of fruits and vegetables;
Drink Dandelion tea
Sip 1 cup bone broth daily
Replace toxic plastics with stainless steel and glass
Overhaul your cleaning and beauty supplies with eco-friendly versions
Drink clean filtered water (not tap)
Decrease alcohol intake to 1 to 2 glasses/week
Limit coffee to 1 cup organic coffee/daily
Eat organic organ meats 1-2 times per week
Consider some liver-boosting supplements (Fermented Cod Liver Oil and/or Liver Capsules, Ox Bile with meals)
Drink warm lemon water with a pinch of sea salt every morning
5. Balance Blood Sugar to Feel Balanced All Around
Increased abdominal fat and weight gain, experienced by nearly 90-percent of women during menopause, are directly connected to blood sugar “imbalances” or “insulin resistance.”
Your blood sugar levels are responsible for giving you stable energy and a feeling of overall body balance throughout the day.  Roller-coaster like blood sugar levels (i.e. high or low), on the other hand, bring about many of the same symptoms associated with menopause (Mood swings, headaches, shakiness before meals, sugar or caffeine cravings, fatigue, weight gain and body fat retention).
Insulin is a hormone that is responsible for controlling your blood sugar balance—acting like a director for how your body uses the food you eat. Insulin ensures that the “just right” amount of glucose (i.e. sugar) and energy (i.e. food you eat) is in your blood at any one time. However, if you we have TOO MUCH insulin circulating in the body at once (insulin resistance), fat storage and menopause-like “symptoms” of blood sugar imbalances happen (headaches, mood swings, hungry, sugar cravings, low energy dips).
“How does insulin resistance occur in the first place?
Answer: Imbalanced nutrition, poor gut health and elevated cortisol (stress) levels.
You don’t necessarily need to eat Hershey’s candy bars or donuts every day for breakfast to experience insulin resistance. Insulin resistance can happen from:
Imbalanced meals (especially not enough enough proteins and healthy fats)
Undereating
Restrict carbs (too much) and not eating enough fat to support low carb intake
Underlying gut imbalances—preventing your body from absorbing and using your energy and nutrients
Cortisol imbalances (cortisol feeds off sugar and demands your body needs more of it to survive)
The bottom line:
Insulin resistance and blood sugar imbalances are common during the menopausal years primarily because your body is more sensitive (overall) to the impacts of stress.
6. Be Wary of Hormone Replacement Therapy
Many women experiencing the “negative” side effects of menopause are often told to “just use hormone replacements (HRT) to improve symptoms.”
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT, bioidentical hormones or synthetic hormones) can significantly reduce peri-menopausal symptoms by reducing the extremes sometimes experienced with the decline of estrogen, progesterone and testosterone production.
However, HRT can also make symptoms worse in the long run, especially if the other causes of “hormone imbalance” (i.e. stress and adrenals, gut health, liver and blood sugar) are NOT addressed in the first place.
When you take exogenous hormones (supplemental HRT hormones from outside of your body), the levels of those hormones go up in the bloodstream. In response, your pituitary gland reduces your own internal (natural) production of that hormone.
Now, this may not be much of a problem when you’re actually taking that hormone (since the hormone is coming into your body from outside), but another problem begins to develop behind the scenes: Hormone resistance.
When we have chronically higher levels of hormones in our blood (from HRT), the receptors for our hormones throughout our body get down-regulated.
Thus, the HRT hormones in our blood begin to have a lesser and lesser effect (over time) because our hormone receptors aren’t sensitive to that hormone anymore. Long-term side effects of HRT or “too much” synthetic hormone in our blood are associated with heart disease, stroke, blood clots, breast cancer, and further adrenal (stress) imbalances.
The bottom line:
Lastly, address the roots of hormone imbalance first (gut, stress, liver health), not the symptoms.

So let's talk about the NFL combine. For those if you who don't know, the combine is a gathering in Indianapolis, Indiana, of the staff members and more than likely, the owners of the 32 NFL teams. It is also the destination of many of the top prospects from college football. Some to reinforce their athletic prowess in the minds of those teams. Some to get the attention of teams for the first time. They are weighed, measured, and tested for many different traits. They run, they jump, and they lift. All of this in preparation for the NFL Draft. Oh and agents and support staff are in town also.
In the early days, before the proliferation of cell phone with cameras, you could find yourself sitting at the bar next to Dave Wannstedt or Bill Cowher. Again for those that are not NFL historians or fans, those two gentlemen were the head coaches of the Miami Dolphins and Pittsburgh Steelers. I will get back to my fiasco with these two a little later.
I happened to be head of security at a favorite hang out of all of the staff members, especially the head coaches. We would have a line around the block waiting for entry. Head coaches would most likely be let in on the house after moving to the front of the line. If they had staff members, we would do a package cover charge. Mind you, there were always tips involved in any of these maneuvers. Everyone wanted to run elbows with these #footballgods. I found myself sitting at the end of the bar talking football strategy with Mike Shanahan and Mike Holmgren. At the time, the Head Coaches of the Denver Broncos and the Green Bay Packers. Also, commonly thought to be 2 of the top offensive geniuses at the time.
You could witness Wade Phillips, son of legendary Houston Oilers coach Bum Phillips, on stage playing tambourine and singing with the band or on the dance floor tearing it down.
The guys could get away for a week and let their hair down and have fun, while still doing important work for the team, without the worry that they would make the national news the next day.
Problems usually happened with the lower staff members after the head coaches had left. Without the facial or name recognition to garner special treatment, they had to pull out the wallet. Mind you, the ego and testosterone levels in the city were off the charts. Many staff members were unceremoniously ushered to the door. There is a great deal of a feeling of entitlement that comes with that ego and testosterone.
We ushered an extremely large man to the door and it was quite a scuffle. The police were involved and I learned his name. Mike Tice went on to be a pretty solid head coach of the Minnesota Vikings.
I got to meet probably the most well known and outspoken owner in the League. He owns the franchise from the Great State of...... He was very nice. We cordoned off an area for his group complete with his own server and security provided by myself. Along with the money spent for drinks, he tipped his server $1000 and $500 for myself. Did I mention that that was for one and a half hours as they came out late.
Now for my embarrassing moment. Both coach Wannatedt and coach Cowher have very strong jawlines and similar moustaches. They had both been in the club before. With hats on, they bear a resemblance. Hats off, not so much, as one had a glorious head of hair. I'll leave it at that. Anyway, one of those two came in one night and was engulfed by autograph seekers. I ushered him to a booth and he graciously signed for those people. He looked at me and asked if he could do anything for me. I asked for an autograph for my son and he provided it to me. I made sure that he was ok and thanked him while walking away. Saying "Thanks Coach Wannstedt" I walked over to talk to one of my staff and they asked "you got an autograph?" I said, " Yes, but he looked at me like he was pissed". I found that odd considering the treatment that I provided. Then I looked at the autograph. It read, "To Matthew, All of the best to you! Coach Bill Cowher". I felt like an ass, but his Steelers were a thorn in my Colts side for years to come. I think he came out ahead.
Peace. Be kind. Remember, Life Is Good, even in the rough spots.

Erectile Dysfunction in Young Men
Erectile dysfunction in old age is common, but what do doctors look for if a young man is struggling with ED? Learn about the common causes of ED in young men.
A lot of men might expect to deal with erectile dysfunction later in life. Half of all men between the ages of 40 and 70 experience occasional erectile dysfunction, and the frequency and severity of ED both increase with age. But what if you’re a man under age 40 wrestling with it? Turns out, you’re not alone.
A 2013 study published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine evaluated 439 men for erectile dysfunction and compared ED causes and frequency in men 40 or younger to men over 40. They found that 26 percent of the younger men had ED. Although these men were healthier and had higher levels of testosterone than the older men, they were more likely to be smokers or to have used illicit drugs. In almost half of the younger men with ED, the ED was considered severe. “We used to think that ED in young men was 90 percent psychological, but we now know that most cases are caused by a combination of risk factors. Erectile function depends on hormones, blood supply, nerve function, and psychological health,” said Run Wang, MD, professor of urology at The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston and director of sexual medicine at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Erectile Dysfunction in Young Men: Medical Conditions
“With the success of Viagra-type drugs, there has been a tendency to start all patients with ED on one of these drugs and not look much further for a medical cause. But we now know that ED may be an early warning for heart and blood vessel disease, so it is important to look for common risk factors. These include high blood pressure, diabetes, medications, smoking, drinking, and drugs,” said Dr. Wang.
There are many other possible causes of ED in young men, such as back problems like lumbar disc disease, trauma, kidney and liver problems, sleep apnea, lung disease, thyroid disease, and other hormone abnormalities.
“If an obvious risk factor can be identified and treated, that’s the best place to start. If not, it’s reasonable to try one of the erectile dysfunction drugs for about a month. If the drug works, you may not need to go further,” said Wang. “But in about 40 percent of men, the drug does not work, and you may need to dig deeper to find a cause.”
The most common diagnostic test for erectile dysfunction is called penile ultrasound. This test uses sound waves to look for abnormal penile blood supply. Another test that may be done is nocturnal penile tumescence testing, in which a type of computer is attached to the penis to see if nighttime erections are occurring. If a young man is having nighttime erections but can’t get an erection during sex, a psychological cause becomes more likely.
“If Viagra or one of the other ED oral medications doesn’t work and other risk factors have been covered, options for treatment include a vacuum pump device, penile injections, pellets inserted into the penis, and if all else fails, penile implant surgery,” said Wang.
Erectile Dysfunction in Young Men: Psychological Factors
“If a young man does not have an obvious medical reason for ED, or if he does and his ED is causing significant distress or depression, consultation with mental health expert familiar with ED is an important part of treatment,” said Wang.
There are many factors that can lead to ED. “Psychological causes of erectile dysfunction in young men can include performance anxiety, guilt about sex in general, guilt about having sex with a particular partner, feelings of anger or resentment towards a partner, or simply finding a partner undesirable,” said Carole Lieberman, MD, a psychiatrist on the clinical faculty of the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute in Los Angeles.
“Men who have controlling personalities or who have suffered traumatic events that made them feel out of control may develop a fear of the loss of control that orgasm entails,” said Dr. Lieberman.
She offers these tips for addressing psychological ED issues:
Get help sooner rather than later. The more experiences of erectile dysfunction you have, the more anxiety you will develop about having sex, and this will lead to more erectile dysfunction.
Consider psychotherapy. If the problem seems like it’s psychological, such as performance anxiety, fear of loss of control, or guilt about sex, work with a psychiatrist or psychologist. Consider couples counseling. This approach is helpful if the problem relates to feelings about your partner, such as guilt or resentment, you want to continue the relationship, and can be honest and open about it.
When to Seek Help for Erectile Dysfunction
Occasional ED is common in all men, including young and healthy men. But if you have a persistent or recurrent problem with initiating or maintaining an erection and it’s causing you or your partner distress, talk to your doctor. “Lack of nighttime erections is another cause for concern, said Wang. These occurrences serve to nourish the penis with oxygen and keeping the blood supply healthy, he explained. “Young men should get four or five of these a night. If you are not getting these and you are having frequent problems with ED, you need to check in with your doctor,” he recommended.

Wrestlemania 17 - Austin vs The Rock
Wrestlemania 17 is known throughout the online wrestling community as one of the most iconic, with some fantastic match ups having taken place. For me though, there is one match I automatically think of from that show and it is The Rock vs Stone Cold Steve Austin, fighting for, then, the WWF Championship. The year was 2001. I was a fresh faced ten-year-old, living with my mum and my sisters, ignoring school and real life; firmly committed to sitting in front of the box with some good old fashioned wrestling. My Grandad taped it for me on a blank VHS (just to give you all some historical perspective) and I watched it buzzing with youthful anticipation, with a pile of penny sweets in my lap. And also, the phenomenal video package shown before it. To look at this match we need to go back weeks before this extraordinary showcase of immortals and start at the Royal Rumble. During this match there was such an iconic moment between Rock and Austin;even the thought of it still gives me goosebumps to this day. The tease of all teases, Rock down in one corner during the match and Austin down in the other, Austin bust open and bloody but still intensely staring his opponent down as only he could. The two finally collectively and in unison rise up from the mat and the higher they rise, the more you can hear the fans roars amplify to a deafening crescendo as those lucky enough to be there in the room; home at their tv’s, and ten year old me in my bedroom in the FK postcode; realised and collectively thought as one: “THIS IS HAPPENING”. Remember; Austin and Rock are the two biggest names in WWE history in this 2001 time capsule of which we reside; and whenever they faced off, the feeling was electric. Who could forget the end of the show when Austin stood tall, resplendent, triumphant; the first 3 time winner of the Royal Rumble match, and his ticket booked for Wrestlemania. In stark contrast to such startling achievement,The Rock would have to bide his time before his chance would come again. Do you all remember? I do. Four weeks would go by and finally The Rock would have his chance to book his own ticket to Houston. Rock would defeat Kurt Angle in the main event of No Way Out, overcoming the Olympic gold medalist and also the interfering giant Big Show, and regain the WWF title for his 6th reign. Now the match was set, Wrestlemania 17’s main event would be one of the biggest in wrestling history as two of its most revered stars would clash once more. The tag line for this Wrestlemania was ‘Houston
We have a problem’ but I don’t think any of us had a problem whatsoever with this icon vs icon match up. WWE have a tremendous record of creating fantastic video packages to show before matches, to rile the fans and amplify their excitement for the upcoming bout, and this particular one in my opinion is the best ever. Limp Bizkit supplied the soundtrack for this video with their track ’ My Way’ and the lyrics were so fitting, so perfect, for this particular rivalry. Those teasing, whispery opening lyrics: “You think you’re special, you do; I can see it in your eyes”; ripple over the image of Stone Cold and Rock face to face in an intense stare down
and there’s those goosebumps, and I’m ten again. By the time the chorus kicks in, I already feel buzzing about the match and seeing images of the two battling back and forth is so exciting to watch. Throw in some ‘good ole JR’ Jim Ross and Michael Cole, (before he sucked) and it was like a recipe for magic, pure electricity, exhilarating entertainment. Images of The Rock hitting Austin with his own finishing move, which we had never seen before this point, added another dimension of sheer urgency and deep-seated resentment to the rivalry and illuminated the sense of one ups man-ship. When we come to the conclusion of the video, the commentary and sound bites fade and die; while lyrics from My Way echo over the images; flashes of scenes between the two shows with them toasting one another violently, blows my ten year old mind, in the ultimate display of manhood and testosterone, while the tension builds and builds to a crescendo of an all out brawl before they hit the main event. By far my favourite wrestling video package and it stands the test of time even when I watch it now in 2017. Now if you watched WWF back in 2001, you will know that it was never a surprise the pop that Austin would get from the crowd, especially with his universally known glass crash at the start of his theme, but Mania 17 was on another level. The decibel level must have been through the roof as when the glass crashes the crowd go insane and lose their minds, for me it’s the biggest pop ever in wrestling history. The start of the match was exactly what all the fans wanted, the two went straight at it throwing hands from the get go and got the crowd on their feet early. The crowd are so emotionally invested in this rivalry and show their appreciation through sheer lung power and make this match even more of a classic with their committed participation. The match itself is so physical from start to finish with both men ending the match bust wide open and both inflicting so much pain on one another; and we wait, bleeding with them; feeling their pain, frustration and physical exhaustion in the way only the most committed wrestling fans know how. No need for me to scribe a play by play detailed analysis of the match because if you haven’t seen it then I implore you to do so, if you have then you know why I don’t need to explain it all. The final result of the match though. I feel like it left a lot of us feeling robbed of a classic finish. The finish showed exactly what Austin meant when he uttered the lines to his nemesis: “I need to beat you Rock. I need it more than anything you can imagine”. This hinted at desperation from Austin but we didn’t know how far that would take him. It is something Austin has since said was probably his only regret from his career, but hey; it’s not bad at all when you can say that this is your only regret. I just feel the need to emphasise how high I regard this whole segment, from video package to end of the match. Two of my, and many others, favourite wrestlers of all time, at the height of their popularity;in front of sixty thousand wild wrestling fans and raising hell. For my money, it’s one of the best main events Wrestlemania has ever had and will hold a place in my memory for a long time to come. For me and the fans alongside me that watch it with a heightened sense of nostalgia; for those minutes, we are all eleven-year-olds.

Eat leafy greens, healthy fats and cholesterol (especially pastured egg yolks, coconut oil and ghee/grassfed butter), fresh herbs, plenty of fruits and vegetables;

Health Insurance (Prescription insurance denied) Why?
Bad title for this question I know. I have never really had to go to the doctor for anything, ANYTHING. Recently I went to go see one because my energy level has been horrible, and I am always fatigued. After seeing the doctor, and getting lab work done, I had spent almost a $1000 dollars. But still, I'm okay with that, if its like one visit every six months or so, so what. Anyways, they found my Testosterone levels to be really really low. So they put me on a medication called androgel. Let me tell you, I can only get 15 days worth of this medication at a time, but every time I go to Walgreens to get a refill, I spend hundreds. Tonight when I picked it up it cost me $268.41. I called everywhere to see about health insurance, even though I only need help with prescriptions. I dont know what to do. I dont need all out full fledge health insurance. But apparently if I tried to get it anyway, I would be denied due to a pre-existing condition ((WTF))!! Apparently the only people who can qualify for health insurance are those who dont need it to begin with. And those who need it are denied because of a pre-existing condition. They are no programs that help with prescriptions that I know of, that dont require tons and tons of paperwork, audits, background investigations, and appointment after appointment. I am really upset and am lost with regard to getting the medication my doctor says I need, reduced in price. I cant afford almost $600 a month. But if even if I try to get health care, i will be denied. Could someone please help me out : ) Thanks for checking out my question I dont have health insurance because I never needed it. Plus I have always been responsible with my money""

Car Accident Advice: Someone hit me and doesn't want to go thru insurance?
Someone recently hit my car while it was parked across the street from my house. I almost thought it was a hit and run till I found their business card on my windsheild. I called her and she said she'd rather not go through her insurance but pay me directly for the damage to my car. I have been in accidents where I was hit but usually the other person just gives me their insurance info and I call them and get my car fixed fast, no problems. So I was already a little hesitant about agreeing to this, but I figured as long as it gets fixed it should be alright. So I did like she said and got an estimate from a body shop, then called her with it. Right off she said, Oh thats really high,(almost a 1000) and I reminded her that the damage is pretty severe, she backed into my rear passenger door, now entirely dented and scratched up. I know the estimate is fair compared to other work I 've had in the past. So anyways, I thought she'd decide right there like she had told me before, if it was affordable for her she'd pay me if not she'll go through her insurance. So since she acted like that was so much money I asked well does that mean you want to just use your insurance? She still sounded unsure and said she needs to figure this out. So it's been another day since that, still waiting, she did call again and say she's running it by her insurance agent to see which way would be better for her, insurance or pay me off. So I am still waiting, it's only been a few days since the accident but I am getting anxious because I kind of wish she would just give me her insurance info and go through it, my car would probably be in the shop already and this would be taken care of. But instead I 'm waiting for her. She still has not given me her insurance info, I don't have her license plate # or even what her car looks like, just a business card. And its a big inconvenience because I know I will be without a car for a at least 2-3 days, and even if she pays me she sure didn't mention a rental car. So my question is am I being too nice by waiting for her to decide whats best for her... and even if she wants to pay me should I have gotten her insurance info, like is that my legal right. So how long should I wait for her to decide?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated as obviously I should act fast. Thanks""

I am 26 years and turning 27 soon. I would like to know the average price of health insurance in Queens, New York? Why are my car insurance rates so high?
To start, my girlfriend is insured completely separate from me and in no way affects my policy. My girlfriend was recently in a car accident. This is her second at-fault accident in a 2 year period. Her car was totaled in the accident and she was trying to get quotes for insurnace on a new vehicle she will be financing. She has been getting quotes around $270/mo and below with the history I stated above. She did have one company give her a quote of $170/mo, then State Farm said they could forgive her first accident and she would have to pay around $136/mo I have never been in an accident, I have never received any type of ticket, I have nothing on my record. Getting a quote on the exact same car (2004 Toyota Rav4), just in my name and with the financing in my name, my quotes average $300. This is insane. My car is currently going through my parents insurance so I only pay $40.00/mo to them and it's all good, but I decided to get some quotes on my car just to see how much it would be... The car is a 1994 Toyota Corolla, 4DR sedan. I am 19 years old, will be 20 very soon. Like I said, I have a CLEAN driving history. My quotes on this car are as follows for liability coverage: Allstate: $113/mo Progressive: $162/mo State Farm: $262/mo Now, to me, this is insane. My girlfriend's insurance was about $50.00/mo on her Dodge Stratus. She wrecked it. The insurance on her new car, which was only liability again, was just $60.00/mo. Now she is getting the $135 to $170/mo quote for full coverage on this Toyota Rav4. If anyone can help me understand how she can get cheaper FULL COVERAGE insurance with her driving history than I can get of LIABILITY insurance with my history, please do. This makes no sense to me at all.""

Does Wal-Mart have better and cheaper insurance than Obamacare?
http://www.examiner.com/article/washington-examiner-walmart-s-health-plans-are-better-than-obamacare On Jan. 7, 2013, The Washington Examiner released the results of an investigation finding Walmart's employee health insurance is significantly better than Obamacare. Walmart has come under mega union labor union criticism as a retailer whose employees are both underpaid and mistreated. Like many insurance plans which have been canceled as a result of Obamacare benefit regulations, Walmart's health insurance has been called substandard. However after an in-depth comparison, the watch dog team of the Washington Examiner discovered employees of Walmart receive a better bang for the buck than Obamacare. In comparison to Obama care, it was discovered that Walmart plans were a whopping five to nine times less expensive. Full-service individual coverage in a Walmart HRA plan is available through a Blue Cross Blue Shield preferred provider organization for as little as $40 a month while family coverage averages $160 a month.""

Car insurance please help me out?
Oh right lol my query is as follows .. In July 2012 my daughter took out a pay monthly insurance policy with close premium 139 per month which was paid from my bank account every month on time for 12 months. When due for renewal August 2013 the insurance company sent her a quote saying payments were 168 per month! In view of this she decided not to insure her car and didn't use it. Shortly afterwards she receives a letter from close premium saying Hastings insurance could cover her for 100 per month but she never accepted this offer. In September 2013 Hastings took payment from my account so I contacted bank and recalled the payment. She now has a recovery agency acting on behalf of Hastings claiming she owes 400 . I can't see how she owes this money ? Do we have to pay this when we never accepted the policy and close premium passed on my bank details without my knowledge ? ( hope this makes sense)

The bad part is that I had a lapse in coverage at the time (unknown at the time) what should I do? Now the thing is that I pay about $140 a month for 6 months until that total is paid off, but is it worth paying $140 car insurance for a car that was manufactured in 1997 with over 180k miles and doesn't run or look to good at all. Should i try to finance a preowned or used car? If so how should i do it? I know there are many options in paying for a new car, but I'm 19, in college, working at Walmart part-time, and own a online business. Tips are appreciated.""
Once you have insurance can you drive any car that you own?

Should I call my auto insurance?
This afternoon, I was at a gas station and I backed my 2003 Pontiac mini van into a concrete barrier very hard. The left rear bumper is falling off, the hatch is dented fairly bad in the corner so it is difficult to open (that dent is about 4 inches in diameter but very deep) and the side with an automatic door has two shallow dents about a foot across. One of my taillights chipped on the side but didn't crack or shatter. No broken glass or anything. The plastic bumper is cracked in a few places, and has red paint all over over it from the barrier. the doors still work (excepting that the hatch catches on the taillight area), no electronic or mechanical issues, just body damage. The question is, should I call insurance? I am almost 17 and I've had my license for about 6 months. Roughly how much would the body work cost, since my insurance with AARP is sure to go up dramatically? Or would I want to play it safe and place a claim? My parents know all about it, and it was a total accident (I missed the brake pedal and hit the accelerator). Just looking for the way that will cost me less in the long run. Thank you for your help.""

“The Music of Maslanka: Dissociation to Re-Association”
CW: body and social dysphoria, struggles with body image, disordered eating
My development as a musician was seriously being affected by not realizing I had dysphoria. I did not care about the audience, experimenting with reeds, playing it like a love song, or resonance. I felt the concept of “playing like myself” was just a socially constructed idea in itself. I was led to question if there was really such thing as authentic performance, and whether or not performance was all just something contrived.
If I were to make a generalization on what my two biggest weaknesses were in playing, it was that my long tones (i.e. values such as half notes and whole notes) were lacking in resonance, and that in fast technical passages, I had a tendency to tense up my fingers and embouchure, playing with poor tone quality and with phrases lacking in direction.
I decided to compete in Concerto and Aria. I was looking through pieces with my saxophone teacher Fred Winkler, and we settled on the first and fourth movements of the Maslanka Concerto. I took a look at movement one, and, of course, it was exclusively composed of long tones and fast technical passages!
I can attest that this Concerto by Maslanka changed my life, in that it helped me discover my trans identity. It helped me realize the power and paradox behind taking dissociative approaches, behaviors, and feelings towards my practicing and lessons to create more authentic associations, pure aesthetics, and emotions within the final product in performance. Emerging myself in dissociative approaches like this organically led me to expressing my gender differently, and then led to huge realizations about my gender identity.
The dissociative approaches method to playing an instrument and performing is found in every facet of this three-dimensional model of “external-internalized-internal” i.e. “environmental-behavioral-aesthetic.” Examples of dissociative practices for external and environmental factors even include something that should seem basic like purchasing reeds or mouthpieces. Although there are typically brands of reeds that are most commonly used for each instrument, you do have to try out a bunch of different reeds within a single box and subjectively analyze which one sounds best for your set-up. It does take a long time to be able to differentiate for yourself what subjectively sounds good to your ears, because you have to keep dissociating yourself with the qualities you didn’t like in your previous setup before, and be able to hear the associations you are aiming to get.
The internalized and behavioral factors are all shifted through how you practice your instrument. The surest way to develop your internalized and behavioral factors in playing music proficiently is all through dissociative means. You have a fast passage that is hard for you? Take one difficult line from the passage. Play it twice as slow. Play it as perfect and ideally as possible at the slow tempo, three times. Speed it up very gradually. Repeat. Once you get to the tempo, awesome. Now take it 10-20 beats above the tempo, so that in performance you will not feel uncomfortable at the original tempo. Now repeat this same process for the other difficult lines. Then piece it all together: slowly at first, then gradually speed it up.
I was left with a huge factor to deal with in working on the Concerto: internal and aesthetic. Fred was really shaking me up inside with the several ideas and associations he was gradually giving me. All the ideas he gave me led me to conclude that I had to play it like a “classical Bach soft rock Whitney Houston vocal style pop song opera aria.” How was I to do this? It’s the same answer for the other two factors: dissociation, then re-association.
What may seem to others as a mere practice room space, I see as a place that is simultaneously reflective and refractive of the social world around me. Thus, when I really focus in on changing my musicality through shifting any of these three dimensions through this meditative practice of “dissociation, re-association, re-evaluation,” I am shifting the dimensions in my everyday social settings by the same means. This shifting, as well as this pushing and pulling tension between the practicing space and the outside world, is what has created and stabilized my character, identity, and sense of self.
The dissociations I started doing for this piece became radical, both inside and outside of the practice room. I eventually realized I’ve been having dysphoria all my life. So I threw on a dress, and the journey of endless questioning and realizations began. As I continued to grow with the piece, I started to realize exactly what my problem was. Since I had left my dysphoria unchecked for so many years, I had been associating the long, expressive, vibrato tones with playing like a woman and the fast, flashy, virtuosic passages as playing like a man. Why was this problematic? It was mostly because I would focus so strongly on the expressions of images of one or a few women in long tone passages and one or a few men in virtuosic passages, instead of focusing on pure identities. Thus, I would think of stereotypical expressions of women in my long tone passages, and would think passive, frail, unsupported, and flighty, inconsistent feelings. This created weak breath support and poor tone quality. I would think of stereotypical expressions of men in my virtuosic passages, and would think tight, strong, competitive, and brash. This created tension in my hands and a poor embouchure. This was also problematic because these expressions are not what define being a man and a woman, and the views were plain sexist.
It was also a problem in that long, expressive, vibrato tones doesn’t mean playing in the identities of women, and fast, flashy, virtuosic passages doesn’t mean playing in the identities of men. These were ideas I had to completely dissociate myself from, and beginning to switch up my fashion presentation helped me to do this. Of course, I way overdid it with buying women’s clothes and trying new make-up, and I was basically doing the same thing as anyone approaching playing music for the first time: trying to understand my identity from first dissociating myself from typical expressions, then taking subjective critical analysis from that point forward to have my identity guide my expressions. In the case of someone approaching music for the first time, the dissociation is simply moving from not playing music to trying to play music. In my gender exploration, the dissociation is dressing like a man to dressing like a woman.
I am lucky to be able to have another outlet to be performative in, and because of this outlet I felt so much subjective critical analysis going on in such little time over my gender identity and life experience, with so many memories, realization, and re-associations coming in a whirlwind.
Sometimes, it was frightening and horrifying to look at. The memories of fear using the bathroom at school, and how it caused painful digestive problems. The obscure diagnosis of a learning disorder based in cognitive dissonance, and the test for autism that came up negative. Being overweight because I was depressed, anxious, and trying to eat like a man. Under eating because of jealousy towards thin women’s bodies in media and trying to alleviate digestive problems. Masturbation rooted in dysphoria and paranoia, and seldom ever out pleasure. Mostly out of fear of the homophobic, transphobic environment of my hometown, and excusing myself every time for watching pornography because “Christian sex education” said men are naturally more sex-driven than women. The feelings that keeping testosterone off of me would make me more functional in that environment. The many moments it was of comfort for me to tuck, and the moments of make belief in a woman’s body that seemed comforting.
Sometimes, it was matter-of-fact and disciplinary. Learning how to find more order to my eating patterns, because I needed to work out of those toxic behaviors. Finding how to enjoy my queer sensuality and sexuality. Finding no emotional attachment to the clothes I’m wearing, and letting that guide me towards being assured I can wear any fabric I want.
Then, sometimes it was stunningly beautiful to look at. Music pointing me in the direction to love my body and weight, because I knew physical health was important for playing a wind instrument. Music allowing me to be perceived as any, all, or no genders. The many activities I was pushed around in as a kid, but sticking with music partially because it was the only activity I could pass in as a man. Though I’m not a man, I’m always touched by the utter sensitivity and flexibility of gender perception with the cis men I work with in music. I never felt that different from those men because we are channeling all those many influences in our performances. I just have different ways to dissociate and re-associate within my everyday life that the cis men do. I just have a different story: I am non-binary transgender, I experience dysphoria, and music is the space in which I have reclaimed my relationship towards my body.
As these moments washed over me, I finally felt the magic happening in my playing. I started letting the identities, stories, pure images, and pure sounds of influences inform my more advanced and nuanced expressions of sound in the music.
When I performed in the Concerto and Aria competition and became one of the winners, I felt something beautiful in that performance: just me, and a saxophone, comfortable in my own body, clothes, make-up, pronouns, and identity, seeing just a self-image of myself in my head, with a pure “auditory image” to go along with it. And it’s a stable self-image and voice I’m finally feeling arising in many other situations outside of the world of music. When I performed the Maslanka Concerto with the Wind Ensemble in February, I reached a level of connection with people that I’ve been dreaming of my entire life.
