i love arashiyama x gero but theyre soooooo not happening its kinda sad, they were doomed the moment kimie showed her interest in him, with the final nail in the coffin being her confession. i feel narratively theyre doomed to not happen. maybe this is too complex for manga but shed definitely fell down the "am i in love with him or is this just idolization?" route, smth smth she puts her feelings aside to become the person she aspires to be which was inspired by gero, when she gets to a point shes proud of herself the realization of "huh maybe i was just infatuated" comes and they have a talk. but yeah shes the one im the most certain to not be gero's wife by the end

ive talked about it in some comments but just to have it in a post form: i dont want to use the word hate but i reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally dislike himi x gero

i dont hate himi as a character and her initial distrust of gero is totally reasonable – like we know him but to this unaware girl hes just a random guy with a hero complex or smth saying hes looking for a wife and your childhood best friend who yk is not the best socially and is very sensible is on the candidates list, id be on my guard too – and i dont mind her wanting gero to pretend hes a different person for the sake of the mission, its understandable they needed him to be a believable "himi's boyfriend" he had to look the part, but then she calls ureshino at the end of the day to say she might have a crush on him ???? girl you've been rude to him every time you were near him, you must've spent 3 hours max together before stuff happened and in those 3 hours you were changing him to be a different person, then you went to 1 show together and saw how he wants to interact with your interests tho you didnt interact with his, and all of a sudden you have a crush???? gero can be that attractive (in every sense of the word) but this switch up is CRAZY im not even sure you have a crush on the hikaru gero bc thats not the guy you spent most of your time with, do you really like the actual guy??

she being the only one next to arashiyama to admit the crush by the end of an arc feels more like a gag, first we got the girl who had the crush for years who was inspired by him and idolized him, then we got himi with a seemingly out of nowhere crush, its crazy. she feels more like competition for ureshino than an actual partner candidate for gero, which im now hopping its the plan bc it makes more sense than what we got.

maybe their next interactions will be better, maybe they'll grow on me, but for now i honestly cant make myself see her as a potential partner
