@germposting i was hoping for a kindred soul to see my vision 🙏 i truly believe that obito that day wanted minato to recognize him and maybe even save him, otherwise he wouldn't have brought it up to reanimated minato during the war arc

so let me get this straight. obito:

1. had a plan to capture the nine tails and he succeeded at first but ended up failing because for some reason he decided to go after minato, his former teacher

2. had a hair cut! it would've been more beneficial for him to keep the long hair since it made him look like madara but no, he wanted his original look back

3. didn't cast a transformation jutsu on himself, or even tried to make himself look taller or anything

4. didn't wear gloves. he had his teeny tiny itty bitty soft baby hands on full display

5. had his chakra flaring left and right (note: minato, supposedly, was able to sense chakra signatures)

6. partially revealed himself to minato ("doesn't that haircut look familiar, sensei??")

7. was aware that minato knows a thing or two about sealing techniques (what a lucky coincidence! obito has a curse seal on his heart that he wants removed)

even after all of that, minato still couldn't recognize him. what else was obito supposed to do?? remove the mask and use his real voice? unbelievable. like honestly! why is everyone he knows so damn disappointing. ugh.

also something else i find hilarious is that i've seen theories in the past saying that the real reason obito attacked the village with the nine tails was to mess with the inner politics and put more pressure on his clan. but like, that's a brainwashed 14 year old kid who's fresh out of madara's depression cave, who also tried to fight his former teacher, he was completely out of his depth.
