Disturbing people say 30 is old… so a person’s window of attractibility based on age and being legal is only 12 years when people are now living to be 90?
Tumblr media
30 is NOT OLD The pure misogyny attached to this is disgusting. A woman isn’t seen as old and is seen as most beautiful, but is also legally able to consent, for only a couple years over a decade… Even in countries where it’s 13, she still has 17, less than two decades, to be considered “viable” as a “young beautiful” woman. Disgusting.
Queen Elizabeth II died at 96. That woman lived 66 years of her life “old”??? Seriously?? At 30, your brain has only been fully developed for 4-5 years.
How the hell is 30 old when people are living to be 90??? Change your perspective. Do YOU want to be “old” for 60+ years of your precious life??
Shut up teenagers, predators, and 20 somethings with your nonsense about age.
60 can be considered old… and even then, that could be 30-40 years more of being “old”! We live in a new age of medicine and technology where we live longer and shouldn’t find under 30 to be the most desirable anymore. It’s predatory and disgusting in my view.

Hilarious conversations with my spouse, part 253434534
Me: The gymnastics AU updated today! Spouse, who is a big fan of gymnastics: Is it getting sexy? Me: Not yet, but Charlie is developing a huge crush on Nick. And I'm definitely picturing Kit Connor now that he's bulked up. Remember that gym video I told you about? With the fitness influencer? Spouse: Vaguely. Me: I might have that saved... Spouse: Of course you do. Me: Look
Tumblr media
Spouse (who is gynosexual): Yes, he is objectively attractive. I gotta go back to work. Enjoy your story. Me: I'm glad you don't think my crush on Kit Connor is weird. Spouse: Whatever. *mumbles something about him being a child* Me: He is not a child! He will be 20 next month. Spouse: He's still half your age. Me: No he's not! Not anymore! *discussion of technicalities about whether or not Kit Connor is actually half my age (he's not)* Spouse: Whatever. I'm going upstairs because some of us actually have work to do.

Millennials were pushed to be academically educated so far that many weren’t taught proper socialization, how to exercise common sense, how to reason, how to think critically, how to do chores and cooking, how to have a good work ethic, etc. Are they actually intelligent?
Tumblr media
Millennials were put in front of educational TV, games, and books. They were pushed to make good grades and go to college.
However, they weren’t taught the most important basic life skills!
So now, many of them are handicapped in life on top of a crappy housing market and economy and have very low emotional intelligence, low common sense, hate people, don’t know how to cook, and don’t understand the true meaning and value behind work ethic (even when it comes to their own dream jobs).
All they have is memorizing things they were taught in school or in books.
That’s not true intellect at all. True intellect is the ability to reason, think critically, and do real world problem-solving in a way that is mostly from their own minds and not just parroting what they’ve learned or read!
I’m watching as my own generation is falling apart at the seams. I dislike working with them and I dislike interacting with them in a more deep way because of the above issues. While I completely empathize, I also am done with the maltreatment I receive due to their lack of emotional intelligence, lack of work ethic, lack of common sense and reason, and lack of good social skills.
Wisdom cannot be learned or taught. It can only be obtained when you have the ability to reason and have common sense and emotional intelligence and understanding of the world. Something I fear many Millennials lack, even in the upper echelons of our institutions of education, government, medicine, science, etc.
At the end of the day, are Boomers to blame or, being adults now, are we to blame for choosing to not learn from others by refusing to see past our own noses while we hide in our childhoods?

Gen Z knitter #1: How long have you been knitting?
Me: 19 years. My grandma taught me over Thanksgiving 2004.
#1: That's so crazy that you remember that
Me: I remember it was my sophomore year of college. I'm old.
Gen Z knitter #2: *smiles and nods*

Don’t chalk up bad health to “old age”
If you continue bad habits from early on, it’s just that the bad stuff you do is building up and just steadily gets worse over time.
Sure, in increments, your body is always in decline, but you’re only speeding up the process from having bad habits to begin with!
So, being less limber, heartburn, major wrinkles, high blood pressure, diabetes, having brain fog, hearing loss, chronic sleepiness, joint issues, becoming overweight for your age and gender, etc. are all things that can be avoided for a long time.
It’s not “aging” that’s the problem. It’s the bad habits in our lives, especially sedentary lifestyles where you sit a lot and don’t exercise.
If you continue from when you’re younger and onward, you will physically and mentally age much less.
Things like eating unhealthy foods, going out in the sun for long periods without sunscreen/tanning, sleeping with your makeup on, sitting all day long, not exercising/stretching even 20 min every other day, smoking, drinking more than a few times a month, only sleeping for 4-6 hours, not dealing with mental issues, not handling stress well, etc. will all make you age moreso. It’s not old age. It’s the bad habits people develop.
In short, even if you don’t want to give up these habits, don’t chalk it up to “old age” anymore.
It’s proliferating myths that old age is the excuse for bad habits and that it’s only “inevitable” when it really isn’t. People should take their health into their own hands and live a fuller life where they don’t become prematurely “old”.

Rewatching Gilmore Girls as part of research for the fic I'm writing (it's been many, many years since I've watched it from the beginning).
When the show aired, I was the same age as Rory. This is probably why I identified with it her so much.
Now, I am several years older than Lorelai.
This is going to be a trip.

Felt ancient today while struggling to explain tape recording to my teen student today. She had no context for the idea of music being recorded on a physical piece of tape that could be cut and spliced and manipulated. Like I may as well have been talking about wax cylinders or a phonograph. 🫠
