Mägo de Oz (Álbum)

En este álbum del grupo Mägo de Oz, el vocalista es Juanma. Este álbum fue el primero de Mägo, y no tuvo mucho éxito.

Según mi opinión, este es el álbum que menos me gusta. En términos de melodía es pegadiza y no está mal, pero lo que me hace gustar o desechar una canción es la letra, y este álbum cuenta con algunas canciones con letras que no me agradan.

Antes de ir una por una haré un pequeño resumen de mi opinión.

Como dije antes, estas canciones tienen melodías pegadizas, pero una letra que no me gusta mucho. Los casos más extremos son T'Esnucaré contra'l Bidé y Yankees go home. La única excepción de este álbum es El lago, que me gusta bastante. Hay que tener en cuenta que fue el primer álbum de Mägo, y yo entiendo que las letras sean "complicadas" para esta época.

The sleeve displays only a little light general wear & signs of age, whilst the vinyl looks barely played - You would be hard pressed to find a better copy of this without a time machine! Se conoce como “geordies” (pronunciado “jordis”) a los naturales del Tyneside, en el noroeste de Inglaterra (Newcastle upon Tyne, Durham, Gateshead, etc) poblaciones cercanas a Escocia. Es decir, los Animals eran geordies y Sting es geordie, pero nadie hizo tanta bandera de ello como el primer grupo de Brian Johnson, luego cantante de AC/DC, llamado precisamente así, Geordie. 

Antes de conseguir sus dos mayores éxitos en 1973 con "All Because of You" y "Can You Do It", encuadrados en el glam rock más peleón y populachero, debutaron con el sencillo “Don´t Do That”, que es un poco el “Gerdundula” de Status Quo pero más machaca, jordi, y dotado de la poderosa voz de Johnson. Geordie fue algo lo suficientemente bueno como para que los australianos contrataran a su cantante al verse en la difícil tesitura de tener que sustituir a Bon Scott.

I'm not actually a big Status Quo fan, but I do love several of their songs. This one is very out of character - acoustic, Celtic boogie. I love it. This is the original b-side version, not the Dog of Two Heads recording.

El contundente inicio del primer álbum de Barclay James Harvest, “Taking Some Time On” en versión editada en single con mezcla de guitarra algo diferente, solo más corto y fade out anticipado. Poderosa canción con toque Traffic de John Lees, gran folk rock como lo fue “Gerdundula” de Status Quo o varias de los primeros Jethro Tull.

Algunos se lamentan, con razón, que B.J.H. no hicieran muchas más como esta, en lugar de tanto corte lírico con profusión de orquesta y melotrón, algo que les llevó a ser considerados tristemente como los hermanos pobres de Moody Blues. Incluso a la banda de Oldham no le dolió prendas y llegó a publicar en su LP de 1977 “Gone To Earth”, una canción titulada así, “Poor Man's Moody Blues”...
