Nancy Drew, Ep1x01 - Pilot
Nancy Drew is interesting because I did watch the first episode when it came out. I think I even watched some of the second episode. However, I really didn’t like any of the characters and didn’t watch beyond that. That being said I have been told by several people that, quite frankly, the series did have quite a rocky start; it does start to get better after a few episodes; and becomes really interesting about halfway through season one. I probably am going to rush a little bit through the the episodes until I start to get more interested. In other words, for awhile, this will probably be less of a recap; more of a glorified list of events in the episode.
The show starts with this unsolved murder of this beauty queen who the town calls Dead Lucy.
We also get a quick recap of Nancy’s life: how she was this girl detective with a bright future ahead of her; how her mother got cancer and died; and how her life derailed after that. And Nancy has sworn off mysteries.
So, for now, she works at a local restaurant with George, Ace, and Bess. She is also sort of seeing this guy Ned Nickerson, or Nick; their relationship is complicated.
It’s the night of the Sea Queen parade and the restaurant was going to close early. But then Mr. Hudson (local rich dude) and two other men show up. George, the manager, decides to stay open for them.
Nancy is asked to bring food to Mr. Hudson’s wife, Tiffany, who’s waiting in the parking lot; which Nancy does.
Nancy goes back inside and suddenly the power goes out all over the town. Nancy goes outside again, to find Tiffany’s dead body. Nancy calls for help and her coworkers and Nick run outside. But here's the strange thing. Not more than mere seconds later, a bunch of police cars pull up to the restaurant.
So, the chief of police, McGinnis, (who’s a dick and hates Nancy because she’s more competent then him) interviews everyone. Turn out everyone was alone at the time of the murder. The one exception is Ace, who was serving Mr. Hudson and his friends at the time.
So, everyone but Ace is brought down to the police station. Turns out Bess has been caught for shoplifting before and Nick is a felon. But McGinnis really seems to want to pin this all on Nancy.
We also meet Detective Karen Heart at this point.
It turns out that, just before she died, Tiffany was able to call the police for help.
Nancy realizes that when she went to bring Tiffany her food, Tiffany was wearing a giant ring. But the ring was gone, when Nancy found the body.
Nancy, walking home from the police station, has a creepy moment where she hears (?) children singing about the dead beauty queen. Nancy looks at a storefront window and sees a crown on her head.
Nancy looks at a video she shot earlier that night of the fireworks. But what she sees is Tiffany and a ghost-like figure behind her; just before the video cuts out. Some of her coworkers thinks it’s the ghost.
Nancy thinks the husband may have killed his wife somehow. Nancy breaks into their home to see if she can find anything unusual.
Nancy finds a strange neckless in a hidden compartment. Knowing it’s something of a nautical nature, Nancy asks George about it. George tells her that women used to put secret messages into the neckless and sailors would melt them in water to get the messages out.
They break open the neckless and find a figure of a seahorse. But it’s also a figure that’s on the Sea Queens crown. Also on the neckless is an address to a Medium. Perhaps Tiffany was trying to contact or protect herself from a ghost?
The three girls go see the Medium, who tries to contact Tiffany. However, the Medium seems to contact Dead Lucy who tells them to find the dress.
Nancy accidentally left her hat at the Hudson’s but Detective Heart found it and brought it Nancy’s father to protect Nancy. Also, it seems like something’s going on between the father and the detective; something Nancy has just found out about.
Ace seems to have an interest in Bess, which she does not have for him.
We find out that Nancy’s dad was Nick’s lawyer and her dad wants her to stay away from him. So Nancy breaks into her dad’s files and finds Nick’s case. Turns out he was convicted of manslaughter based on one witness testimony; Tiffany Hudson. (And this is a small town, so why hasn’t Nancy heard of this?). But this makes Nick a suspect.
Bess says she’s living with a rich aunt, but we find out she’s sleeping in a camper van.
Apparently, George seems to be having an affair with Ryan (Mr. Hudson) and Ace snaps a picture of the two together and send it to the Chief of Police.
Nick finds something in Nancy’s mom’s old car (drugs?); which he’s preparing for Nancy.
Bess has Tiffany’s ring or what looks like the ring. Also, it was mentioned she was caught shoplifting once. I’m guessing there’s more to that story.
At the end of the episode, the power goes out at Nancy’s house and the stairs to the attic come down. There, behind some torn wallpaper, she finds a rhyme about Lucy. She also sees a trunk that she saw her parents dug up in their backyard when she was a child. Inside the trunk, is a bloody dress which seems to be Lucy’s. Behind Nancy a ghostly form appears.

anonymous said : mw from outer banks, pll original sin, pll, nancy drew (cw), gossip girl (original), and euphoria? and is there a most wanted fandom from that list? thanks!
from outer banks: kiara carrera, sarah cameron, john b routledge, topper thornton, pope heyward, & ward cameron! from pretty little liars: aria, spencer, mona, alison, emily, toby, or caleb; or for original sin, noa oliver, faran bryant, mouse honrada, shawn noble, or karen beasley! from nancy drew: nancy drew, george li-yun fan, nick nickerson, bess turani marvin, & ace! from gossip girl: blair waldorf, serena van der woodsen, nate archibald, jenny humphrey, georgina sparks, carter baizen, & dan humphrey! and finally from euphoria: rue bennett, jules vaughn, fezco, ashtray, maddy perez, cassie howard, & kat hernandez!
and as for which is the “most wanted fandom” from those options -- we currently have the most pretty little liars/original sin characters, so probably someone from one of those two franchises! but truly, anon, bring whoever you like. hope this helps!
