Some personal holy grail pieces right here, the latest being “My Marie”, the ultimate signet that reminds me so much of Marie Antoinette’s. Mercifully, this 22k blue enamel and diamond cost way less than the $450,000 hers sold for at Sotheby’s last year. But, just as my heart broke (I couldn’t even win a box at that auction), Kim saved the day with this blue baby girl. The Georgian half hoop is from the 🔥 Cyndi and the pink foiled diamond (zoom in) is from Galina. Tap for tags… But, this post is also a PSA about insurance! Last year, I read a horrible story here on IG about someone getting all their jewels stolen while on vacation. It prompted a call to my insurance company. I rarely travel with much jewelry unless I’m going to event and I never travel with bone/ivory pieces (even from province to province or state to state there are different laws and I’d rather be safe than sorry). I was surprised to find where my jewelry isn’t covered… like Hawaii (my broker said “where there are a lot of honeymooners, there are a lot of thefts”). Those hotel safes in your room closet aren’t actually safe. Maintenance removed all my stuff out of one and left it all at the front desk, and my agent’s husband had his watch stolen right out of his while he was out swimming - the safe was all locked up before he opened it and found all his stuff gone. So, check with your insurance company before you take your sparkly babies on vacation. #themoreyouknow🌈

Inspired by the romantic 18th century idea of 'Giardinetti' jewellery, (Italian for 'little garden'), a felicitous floral necklace. A symbol of love and a token of esteem, the Giardinetti features a wild rose depicted in a fabulous Rococo style and studded with glistening hand faceted old rose cut Diamonds. The twinkle is truly quite bewitching! The rose cut Diamond Giardinetti dates to around 1750, is of Silver and was likely originally a part of some larger jewel, perhaps a tiara or brooch? With no way to wear it, we have converted this romantic flowerette into a stunning and captivating necklace. We smoothed the back and attached two Gold rings to enable the pairing with this antique Victorian Gold chain. We feel it works delightfully.... almost as if they were made for each other! The glorious old Diamonds are laid on silvered foil which shows their delicate tea stained gentility. Beautifully historic, these multi faceted Rose cuts began to appear around 1670 (Ogden) and very often had 24 facets. Some of these do, but many have between 16-20 facets. Each is hand faceted and shows a differing shape which is influenced by the natural crystalline shape of the gem. The finished length is 17 inches, and the 9ct yellow Gold rope chain closes with a cylindrical barrel clasp. The Giardinetti measures a touch over 2cm in each direction. A celestial Diamond Star pendant, dating to the late 19th century in the style so desirable at the time and fully set with shimmery old Diamonds in Silver backed with 9ct yellow Gold. The eight pointed star appears in cultures around the world, an emanation of renewal and new beginnings, a very lovely context. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The central gem; an antique high 25 facet Rose Cut Diamond (which we judge to weigh one carat) is laid over foil and capturing the light as it rolls over the triangular facets in the characteristic way, it quite catches our breath! ....and there is at least half a carat again in the twinkles of the Rose cut Diamonds to the points surrounding. This jewel has travelled over the centuries, and having been through many transformations in its lifetime, when we found this piece it was clumsily mounted as a ring, so we had our jeweller remove the band and attach a bale so that it can be worn as a glittering pendant. The centre gem looks to be in an original Georgian pinched collet setting, whilst the points fashioned later to bring this old gem into fashion again.
