So George, huh? This is the first time we meet her, as she was Off Somewhere for hours when her cousins and their parents arrived and seemingly snuck into the house after everyone else went to bed (she's eleven, btw).
Anyway, here we have her first line of dialogue being "No. I'm not Georgina.", and then her saying "I hate being a girl. I won't be."
Then we have some very 1940s gender attitudes, but then for the first time we see that being perceived as a boy makes George extremely happy.
Also the extremely relatable Gender Experience of cutting your hair off without your parents' permission, and thinking that everybody must hate being their assigned gender.

"the lgbt community is trying to indoctrinate people!!!" factoid actually just statistical error. average queer person indoctrinates 0 people. Gay Georg (aka me) who lives in a cave & converts people into nonhuman cat gaybian genderweirdness, is an outlier adn should not have been counted

🏳️🌈🍀💎 for tma ofc!!!
🏳️🌈 God I have a million headcanons for each character so I’m just gonna limit myself to my faves. Everyone except Elias and Peter are autistic because I Make The Rules. Jon is South Asian (probably Filipino) , has psychosis and is genderweird, like, some flavor of nb they’re too emotionally repressed to work out (and Bi n Ace too but those are canon). Martin is Peruvian, Gay and Tranmasc Nonbinary. Melanie is Korean, Lesbian, and ADHD. Georgie is Nigerian and Trans n bi. Tim is Bi, Genderfluid, and Mexican. Sasha is Brazilian and a Bi Queen. Daisy n Basira are nb lesbians and Basira is Turkish. Elias and Peter are dead. 💕💕💕🍀Functionally everyone is a comfort character (Except Elias and Peter >:/) but Special Shout Outs to Jane Prentiss, Helen, Martin, Melanie and Georgie. Unfortunately I cringe fail kin Jon so much that I dyed my hair green in honor or that stupid motherfucker. 💎There is a curse-filled version of Piecemeal out there and I oh so desperately want it. Also Martin has a spider who lives in his closet who he calls George and I am eternally delighted by that fact.

Hi. So remember when I was getting salty about Enid Blyton books?
No?
Well I was mad about the publishing company censoring toning down George's genderfuckery in 'modernisation' efforts ten years ago.
Anyway, I got my hands on copies from 1967, and I'd just thought I'd share our introduction to George. Or rather, her mother Aunt Fanny explaining George to her cousin Anne (George herself shows up four pages later).
"But George hates being a girl, and so we have to call her George, as if she was a boy."
This book was written in 1942.
The passage introducing George in person for the first time is kind of long, so I'll transcribe that later, but for now, here's the first illustration of George, blanking her cousins Dick and Julian for calling her Georgina.
Note how she has basically the exact same facial features as Dick (the boy on the right).
#you see now why i think george is like 5 years away from coming out as trans?#or she would be if she knew the concept?#either that or she's going to grow up extremely butch#enid blyton#george is genderweird

I am fully of the mindset that if people want their children to read classic books like Enid Blyton, etc, but they aren't willing to read them with their kids in order to provide necessary context for why certain words, etc, are used, then there will have to be cleaned up versions, because media literacy is only getting worse.
However, I recently discovered that some recent printings of the Famous Five books call George 'Georgie' and I want to burn down the entire publishing industry over it.
That's not 'cleaning up', that's erasure.
#''oh it's confusing for a girl to be named george''#THAT'S THE DAMN POINT!!!!!#GEORGE IS GENDERWEIRD#george dresses like a boy and refuses to be called georgina#she LOVES being mistaken for a boy#SHE ONLY GETS MORE GENDERWEIRD AS THE SERIES GOES ON#SHE TAKES TO CALLING HERSELF 'MASTER GEORGE' INSTEAD OF 'MISS GEORGE'#literally the only thing stopping her from being a trans boy is being a child in (1940s? e.b does the floating timeline thing) rural englan#in a handful of years i'm CERTAIN that george is going to start going by he/him and no one will be surprised#enid blyton

George my beloved :)
This is based on a combination of the descriptions, the illustrations, and the book covers.
#enid blyton#did boys not wear socks in the 40s? for whatever reason anne is the only one of them to be wearing socks in the illustrations#anyway wearing leather shoes without socks is awful so i gave her socks#george is genderweird

It would help if I could remember anything about the post other than that it was a) about George and b) salty. I rambled in the tags but I don't remember what I said.
EDIT: HELL YEAH I FOUND IT!!! Turns out I tagged it 'George is genderweird', despite tumblr search insisting I've never tagged anything with that before.
