NEW GENSHIN TRAILER DROPPED HELLO???

AHHH I JUST SAW ALL THE NEW LITTLE GREMLINS AND I LOVE THEM ALL SO MUUUUCH <33

Gonna rant about their designs for a bit, all rambling under the cut so feel free to skip past this post. (Not gonna talk about the possible Pyro archon, sorry ~)

MUALANI ; AUGH. SHE'S SUCH A CUTIE. Reminds me a little of the water type gym leader from Galar, mostly outfit wise...

Weird thing, I feel like she should be WAYYY tanner. Those tattoo like markings are clearly parts of her skin that weren't tanned due to clothing or something else, plus she sits outside all day fishing from what we can tell, so she'd realistically have some more sun damage but... I can't really complain. Chinese company, gotta comply to the beauty standard over there.

But OOMF she's so adorbs. The yellow and orange accents are so subtle yet help carry across her whole design, stop her from being boring.. the seal thing on her wrist is SO cute, I'd really like to know if it's just a design choice or if it's going to play into her combat? No clue, but im excited to see how they use her!

Overall, I'd say a good 8/10 for character design alone. She's cute, stands out amongst most of the other predominantly blue characters, and has some really nice details that tie her together so well! Plus, her name is cute, and it rolls across the tongue. Mualani... definitely going to pull ^_^

KACHINA ; I'm a sucker for the tiny "chibi" characters, and a sucker for animal themed characters. KACHINA IS LITERALLY MY DAUGHTER. I'M ADOPTING THE SHIT OUT OF HER.

The ears she has are so BIG and floofy, her gloves make her hands look like freakin' PAWS, and her little sun visor AGHHHH SHE'S TOO CUTE <33

All the green and orange are really leaning towards clementine territory but I'm LOVING IT. She looks like a little citrus fruit, SO CUTEEE GRRR. I might be experiencing cuteness aggression because I just want to squeeze her until she explodes. The sunblock on her nose? The cape? The fuzz at the end of her gloves? She's too perfect!!

Overall, 8/10. Nothing incredible, but she's too cute to overlook :3c Really hoping she's a free four star, like Lynette and Collei.

KINICH ; Honestly didn't care that much about him. [Shrug]. I've always been a way bigger fan of the female characters in Genshin. (Letting the woman liking part of me slip out... smh...)

But I think he's cool! I'm fairly certain he's a Dendro, so it's cool how many colours he has instead of just being G R E E N like what they do with most of their characters. The yellows, oranges and blacks tie in nicely! Especially considering the region he lives in.. plus his hair is all floooofy... God I love floofy hair...

He feels very tech-y. Like he's a mechanic. That little pixel thing next to him is a dead give away, and he's wearing workshop pants- albeit, fashionable workshop pants. If i had to assign him a character i think he looks like, I'd say a humanised Tails the Fox. But really. Really emo. /silly

Gonna have to give him a 6.5/10. He's not the most interesting, but he's cute! Solid character design, with a nice colour palette and a clear sorta theme. :D

CITLALI ; AEEE !! I'm super excited for Citlali !!

Her design is so akin to an Espeon, I just love love LOVE it !! <33 She's also got some sass, which I adore. Sassy Cryo's just draw me in... [glances at Rosaria]

Her clothes and jewelry all scream "fancy rich kid", but everyone in Natlan have nice clothes and shiny jewelry so maybe that's just commonplace.. From the subtle eye symbolism, the colour scheme, and how she's shut away in a hut not wanting to be super social, I think she might have some arc involving fortune / future sight ! >:] (I could just be yapping out my arse, though.)

Her arm gloves are so cool, I'm honestly a little envious, heheh ~ Her design, though I have few comments about it, is really pretty, and honestly grabs the eye pretty well! 7/10 from me,, excited to see how she develops over time.

XILONEN ; When I tell you my jaw DROPPED when she appeared. LAAAWD she is PRETTY.

I'm REALLY hoping she's a Kätzlein, because that would prove the Kätzlein boodlines can include other types of kitty cats- housepets, like Diona, or leopards, like miss Xilonen here. This being canon would be a godsend for me, considering one of my Genshin ocs is a Kätzlein with tiger-like features- Who, funnily enough, comes from Natlan !

Her aesthetics are on POINT. The leopard print pattern of that small silk-ish fabric of her left glove, the golden and brown hues, black fluffy sleeved imitating animals... AHHHH HAVE I MENTIONED I LOVE CHARACTERS WITH ANIMAL FEATURES? :3

SHE GETS AAAA... [drumroll...] 7/10 !! Her design could be interesting, but for now it's a taaad bit bland ^_^" All the shiiiiny stuff is definitely making up for it, but she's clearly leaning towards the "horny guy bait" design, like Lisa.

IANSAN ; Not much to say, honestly.

The skulls and the feathers are both very interesting design choises, and that necklace looks very cultural to me. Possibly something like the patterns on the visions.

Iansan's colour pallate is pretty appealing too. Like Pokemon; Scarlet and Violet, or Pokemon Sun and Moon !! <3

I'm not very hyped for them, but I'll say they're a 6.5/10. Not very interesting in my personal opinion, but I can see why someone may like them!

CHASCA ; I.. Don't like her.

Maybe it's the hair, maybe it's how similar she is to my lovely wife Clorinde, but she's just... Not catching my eye.

The outfit isn't the greatest- No clue what theme they're even going for. Pirate? Bandit? Sheriff? That hat is confusing me the most. WHY IS IT THERE. WHY. IS SHE A SWASHBUCKLING GOLD STEALING SEA RIDER?

Something's rubbing me the wrong way. Hey, maybe I'll warm up to her. But for now, Chasca, you're gettin' a 5.5/10. Your colours are nice and I think you have potential, there's just a lot more to be desired..?

Here's my predictions for 4.2 based on the trailer. Note that in the last couple patches Hoyoverse has upped the misdirection in the trailers by a LOT, so it's possible half the things we see are something else entirely.

-"Everyone's dead" is either taken out of context or everyone in Fontaine in indeed dead. Either the primordial sea actually flooded everything, thus the clips of fontaine submerged, and Furina is trying to find a way to reverse it or that was some sort of dream or cutscene explaining the prohphecy.

-The whale could either be a creature of the primordial sea (maybe abyss since it was calling to Childe?) or it could be the added consciousness of the people of Fontaine after the flood, similar to the oceanid formed by the missing women case victims.

-"The part you [Neuvillette] have played over the last 500 years." I believe this implies that Furina did have a plan. In 4.0 and 4.1 a lot of focus and stress is put on Furina for the fact that she's not doing anything about the prophecy, but I believe she's had a plan the whole time and she's kept it secret. She's not as incompetent as she seems. As for the missing gnosis, it could be in the oratrice, but it could also be maybe used as bait to get the whale to go to a certain location.

-The presence of Skirk implies that the primordial sea and thus the whale are connected to the abyss. This is supported by the fact that Tartaglia kept being called towards the whale. Since he had good control of his vision in the abyss, his loss of control over it is still unexplained.

-The guilliotine. Now, I believe Furina is not dead. I believe this is misdirection at its finest, the same as in the 4.0 trailer with Lynette dissolving into the water (it was just a normal magic trick) so I believe the guilliotine was being used on someone else or if not, Furina was rescued before it came to that. The image of Furina's hat falling the the ground is probably from another sequence of events entirely, maybe her bowing an apology to her people at the end for keeping them in the dark and the hat slipping off?

-At 2:08 we see the clock in the roof of the Narzissenkreuz headquarters fall down. This signifies that the prophecy is either fulfilled or in progress, as said in the trailer also.
